I disliked most of CP9 and W7 chars but I liked Hattori. He's just that awesome.
It's very rare for me to dislike a character that isn't meant to be disliked. I usually reserve hatred for characters that are meant to be disliked - and I mean that go above being a regular villain; such examples would be Bellamy and Spandam. If I dislike a lot of characters that are protagonists I just quit reading the manga, which is what I did with Naruto and Scott Pilgrim. No use torturing myself with that.
I just wait till some better ones come along. I disliked most of the minor chars/CP9 but loved the ones in Thriller Bark, Skypiea, Arabasta, DBF and Saboady. So it balances out.

I liked Naruto before the timeskip, after that I started to hate the main character because he was a hypocrite and put Sasuke above everyone else's lives despite him being a mass-murdering traitor. And the sexism made me want to punch someone.
And I hate Scott Pilgrim because he's a 23 year old dating a 17 year old schoolgirl who admires the hell out of him, only then he cheats on her and then expects us to have any sympathy when he remembers his ex-girlfriend doing the exact same thing. Talk about being a fucking dick.

Zoro x Luffy being my all time fav. They aren't hints, but the many moments where Zoro just follows Luffy's orders without question. It just makes me happy. Best ZoLu moment when Zoro was going to give up his life for Luffy's dream.. <33 (don't worry I know this is impossible 8DDD) But this is probably the only pairing that would actually make sense D: if it were to ever happen.. at least to me Xd;;; (Sorry thats weird huh?)
But i'm a sucker for Sanji x Usopp. I don't know how i came to love it, but i just do XDDD Sanji finds Usopp the least annoying, they have a special bond since Sanji told Usopp he wasn't useless and helped him realize he was an important member to the Straw Hats. Then when Kuma came up when they were all sent away ;3; Usopp was trying to get Sanji to safety~ Then when Usopp disappeared, Sanji got all angry >//u//< But of course~ Its just really good friendship in all reality 8D;;; And in Strong World, those two ended up on a floating island together u huuuuuuuu~~
Sanji x Luffy is cutesy~ 6th movie, Sanji got jealous when Luffy said that the other cook dude's food looked delicious. He then sprung into action and told Luffy he'll make him something that is delicious or... something along those lines~ oi oi

Lol, very few people on this thread actually believe canon romance is going to happen in One Piece. It won't, at least not in the StrawHat pirate crew. The closest we've gotten to a romance was between Hatchan and Caimie, and I doubt we'll get anything closer than that in the future with any other duo.

I cannot get into yaoi. I can acknowledge when it makes sense, but I can't get into it. I can occasionally get into yuri pairings but I think that the yaoi fangirls just completely ruined yaoi for me. I don't hate it, but it's more of a "rolls eyes there goes the yaoi fangirls again" kinda thing.

That's what I love about Luffy. It's so refreshing to have a character purely focused on his dream- someone with motivations so straightforward and clear that you can't help but like him. I think the major appeal of this manga entails its ability to cater to the child in everyone; the majority of people here in their younger days probably wanted to be a pirate when they grew up. One Piece differs from many manga in that it stresses to never lose the child in yourself.
So yeah, I don't personally endorse any pairings involving Luffy. Although that's not to say that other fans can't enjoy that sort of thing.
