@Sea:
Basically, yes. But Zoro behaved as an equal at best, while Jinbei acted senior.
That's a matter of opinion. Compare Zoro's speech at Water 7 to Jinbei's at Amazon Lily, which I am viewing as their respective strongest moments, and Zoro is the clear winner.
@Sea:
Jinbei seems to have absolute no problem dying, or regret, unlike those with an unaccomplished dream.
How is Jinbei's actions at Marineford any different than Zoro's at Thriller Bark?? Hell, did you forget Luffy smiled on the execution platform?
@Sea:
He didn't give me the vibe of someone who will be under Luffy's command at all.
If anything, that's a point in my favor. Nobody will ever replace Zoro, but just as Zoro was a testament to Luffy's influence during the first half of the story, Jinbei would be a testament to Luffy's influence in the New World. More than once Luffy took the lead during their time at Impel Down and Marineford. Luffy practically called the shots, with Jinbei following and advising like any crew member would. Hell, he even recklessly tossed Luffy over the wall at Marineford per Luffy's request. That's a classic Strawhat Crew moment. "Jinbei, throw me over that wall." "Got it!"
@Sea:
Oda has planned Hancock from long ago too, as seen in a color spread. Jinbei's humble introduction was a due, because of the plot at that moment.
Jinbei's humble introduction was written by Oda, as is the plot and everything that happens. How does this change anything?
@Sea:
What do you think he has been doing over the last 2 years then?
Doesn't matter. Permanent and public are bad. So says Oda. "His life will be in danger if he stays here in Water Seven!! The next time he gets caught… we won't be able to save him!!!"
