Saw the 1st half. It definaetly reminds me of Milkchan with vauge jobs without much detail on how to complete the missions. I'll comment when I finish it. So far I like it. It has this Adult Swim feeling to it.
GAINAX's Panty & Stocking With Explosive Diarrhea

-
I saw Milk-chan, but this didn't remind me of it.
It's adult Powerpuff Girls. Sort of.
-
I was more thinking about "This is the job. Do it" part of Milk Chan. Other than that, yeah. It has that Powerpuff Girl feeling when it comes down to villains and narration.
Finished the second half. Really, really good. I was a bit let down by the actual first short since it didn't seem to show much, but the second made up for it.
! The first half introduces what kind of character Panty is. I was a bit worried since I thought she was too young according to the descriptions but I think it flows really well. It was just the style more than anything that threw me off a bit in the beginning. Stoking didn't seem to have much screentime to a point I know the character inside out. She like candy…. That's all I pretty much know. Ganterbelt is like the authority figure and caretaker. As expected. The dog is just plain weird like it's on drugs. As for the actual episode short, it wasn't too great being a pilot and all. The transformation sequence was so WTF though. The whole scene was in modern anime style...
! The second half was more action and REALLY REALLY wild. The cop chase sequence was just insane from drive-bys, and multiple pit maneuvers resulting to millions of cars flying all over the place. I think I'm love. Still, there wasn't much scenes of Stoking as it shows how much of a badass chick Panty is all the time. I like her scenes, but I'm kinda hoping she does not dominate the spotlight. Especially considering that these characters are supposed to be a duo.
! I'm looking forward to more episodes, though I wish I could watch it as a dub instead. I hate reading subtitles. -
Uh, this was like Dead Leaves insanity mixed with some of the crudest material Adult Swim can pump out.
The second short was cool. I'll watch anything that's being animated by Sushio. I don't know if I'm going to be on board for the long haul, but this show certainly knows how to leave an impression.
I was pleasantly surprised by the ending being in perfect English.
-
only done with the first few minutes, and i'm thoroughly disappointed to see it's exactly what i expected - powerpuff girls with high production value and dirty jokes. it's literally just powerpuff girls if they were whores.
no thanks, gainax.watches more.
never mind. this is actually LESS mature than powerpuff girls.
lmao. an entire episode centered around sex and giant poo. wow.
they literally wasted A-level music and animation…on shit. -
Yeah, I'd say Dead Leaves mixed with Powerpuff girls.
Turns out that's it's not my kind of show. I enjoyed some of the animation sequences (pole dancing scene, car chase scene) and the models of the ghosts actually blowing up, but overall I got tired of it pretty quick.
-
And people complain about anime not being avant garde enough.
Bring on more Panty & Stocking!
-
Guys, I'm getting mixed messages here. Is it good or bad? I've been eagerly expecting it for a while after all:/

I think this is one of those, you either Hate It or Love It shows. You'd have to watch Episode 1 to know whether you like it or not.
-
I would watch episode 1 AND 2. (Like Western cartoons, it's two episodes in one half-hour show). While the first episode was a little off (imo), the second was pretty damn awesome!
-
Watched both episodes. Definitely PPG for Adults, but I enjoyed it. I liked that their dog is an Invader Zim homage, too. The Strip Pole change scene was unexpected, and the Claymation for when the monsters exploded was hilarious. This should be a classic.

The good: All style.
The bad: No substance.
If you know what you are expecting, you'd find it mildly entertaining. I got my sister into it due to the stupidity in the title alone.

This show feels like a cry for help from GAINAX. Their shows have been getting more and more insane (as has the fanservice) for awhile now, but this feels like they've finally snapped…
Not only was this awful, but it made me feel like I need to hurry to Japan and do something to help these people.
Seriously, how does anyone watch a show like this and not think "this is what went on inside Ted Bundy's head at all times, isn't it?"
-
Definitely didn't like it. It was trying way too hard. It's just taking material from several different things, and just meshing it all together.
"Hey, let's use the puffy ami and powerpuff look, toss in some crude humor, give them a Gir-esque mascot, and a black guy with an afro."
Really, this took no thought at all to make. To animate, yes it is awesome. But everything else has been seen and done before. Definite pass. Can't wait to see this series get blown out of proportion by the masses simply because it is Gainax
-
I don't really think it will get rave reviews. As has been said, the animation is awesome, but there is no substance behind it.
-
I don't see what all the big fuss is about, it's just a fun little action comedy cartoon. I don't see how it feels like it's trying too hard at all, it's just silly juvenile humor wrapped in some cool animation. The characters are one-dimensional but given some time I think the people behind the show can think of some more cool stuff. It's one of those shows where the style is the substance.
Oh and I love how the transformation sequence ending up with them not transforming at all.
-
I think all the fuss is just that people didn't really know what kind of show it was going to be. It's now abundantly clear, and those who don't enjoy that kind of thing will stay away.

Really? I could tell from the trailer and the staff's previous material what kind of show this would be and it pretty much is what I predicted.
-
Oh, I knew exactly what it was going to be, I just didn't know it would be this… well, bad. And creepy. I should have, though. It's GAINAX. But, I'm a fool still clinging to some sliver of hope that they'll go back to the days of Nadia where they could make something of quality that also wasn't creepy.
-

If AP's general consensus isn't that great, then I doubt i'll be a huge hit
though there's only been one episode and even the most well loved shows have had a shitty first ep, so the potential is still there
i havent seen it, just my .02

MY NEW BEST FRIEND IS YOU, SCHMECKIE.

I watched the first episode/episodes a few days ago and i didn't think this many people wouldn't like it. I mean the few other forums i go to i find people either loved it or hate its guts i for one liked it.It wasn't incredible but it was good for what i thought it would be, the music was good the animation was pretty but the characters are kind of bland and the story isn't really good but i didn't expect the story to be great being that their 12 minute episodic episodes.I'll probably wait and save my final judgment after seeing a few more episodes but all in all i think it was ok.
-
Well I went in not knowing what to expect and came out not knowing what I witnessed. If that makes any sense…
It's definitely one fucked up show. I mean, I watched other series the past few seasons like Kiss x Sis, B Gata H Kei, Seitokai Yakuindomo and the likes that dealt entirely with sexual jokes, but this is on a whole new level. Like they're not even attempting to cover them with clever jokes or witty gags, but just shoving it in our faces. I definitely saw some homeages to other cartoons in this as well.
Yet, despite my mixed feelings, I feel like I'll watch the next episodes next week. :ninja:

Jhonen Vasquez, an American comic artist who created the animated television series Invader Zim, has posted about the new fall Gainax television anime Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt this week. Specifically, he talks about the Panty & Stocking character Chuck a green dog who bears some similarity to GIR a robot in a green dog costume who appears in Invader Zim. In the post, he comments that Panty & Stocking:
"…took GIR out of the whorehouse he was working in and gave him a new job! It's nice seeing him get some work, but I gotta say it's a bit on the simple side for my tastes, what with the fart and shit jokes, but the ending is pretty ridiculous, and Gainax produces some of the only Japanese animation I can stand without wishing I was the drinking type, so I'm looking forward to more."
Vasquez also notes that Chuck "seems a little underused in those_[sic]_ new show," but carrying on with the joke that the character is, in fact, GIR, he surmises that it's all the creators can expect from "what's left of his mind after all the heroin."

That… was posted 3 posts above you. ^^

I just watched the first episode/s? and I must say, I liked the obviously intended offensive humor and the wacky art and awesome animation. I laughed my head off at the transformation part because it was basically a quite immature 'NYAH' directed to all animes containing slutty transformations that try to make them look 'cute' when they're actually, well…slutty transformations. :P It's just not an anime to be taken seriously and if I don't forget it by the end of the year, I might randomly watch it here and there. ^^

I liked this show, and very much enjoyed it. To hell with the haters.

It also gives off a Johnny Bravo vibe:
…if we take into account they are also cameoing cartoons.
Although I certainly see much more Franky in there with the hairstyle and the shape of the chin and the arms. Very interesting.
-
Looks like we get cameos in this episode.

-Episode 11, AKA: episode 6, is the episode in which the "plot" kicks in. Written by Masahiko Ootsuka, directed and storyboarded by Imaishi and with AD by Atsushi Nishigori. Episode 11, called "Demonic Woman", is the first 24 minutes long episode of the show.
It was interesting and funny already, but man, waiting for this episode.
-
Second episode was much better, can't wait for more.
-
Crazy shit but I love that kind of shows.
-
ROFL
-
Yes, episode 2 was much better. And hearing "fuck you bitch" in engrish makes it even funnier to me.
-
Episode 2 was pretty great. Stocking is adorable for getting revange on Panty for the movie debut.
-
I really like Episode 3!
Seems their going to use the stereotypical statement that Priests rape little boys seeing as how Garterbelt was handling Brief. :ninja:
-
Episode 3 killed me. Couldn't stop snickering. XD So Stocking likes that kind of stuff, huh? :P
And this panel was just… XD
