Kitsune you're approaching the problem in a wrong way. You're thinking that it's something complicated as hell and are trying to find a working solution to beat that. Basically, Robby and Ubiq have told us to think it as a simple formula with hard to find variables. I say you rethink that whole formula of yours and instead of thinking, try different possibilities. It's more likely to work out that way.
I tried some different possibilites using the data we already have in the statistics thread, but nothing matched yet. It's just a matter of trying now.
-
so can somebody make a list what it could have been , but is already proven that it cant be , that might help?
-
@RobbyBevard:
I'm just making another post to see if I can without writing a word I've been writing a lot lately.
No correlation to anything.
So the answer has to do with correlation eh? /sarcasm
Does the bounties have to do the posters in any way? Like if a regular poster votes for x then +1 but if a senior member posts its +2?
But then Roger had a bunch of colored names vote for him. -
Darn, it's slapping me in the face.
I can feel it stinging.

Okay, so if I mash a bunch of random variables together in different ways and trial and error, am I bound to catch it?

And that there in lies the pain in the ass.
It hs to be something obscure but blatant, if Garp has that much of an edge.
-
Wow, this thread has been busy. Go Kitsune!! and why has Robby's evil twin taken over?
-
Wow your still going at it Kitsune?
-
Well none of you are helping him.
But it doesn't matter, if he gets it, i'm taking all the credit.

Gekko, don't you have plagiaristic comic books to fund?

I'm assuming there's a second multiplier involved

I'll leave the mystic 8 ball answers to Ubiq.
I've helped too much today already, even being vaugue.
-
what's it called? i want to try looking for it. desperately need it in uni.
oh yeah kitsune i noticed that you haven't changed your foxatar yet. big match coming up… :ninja:

@RobbyBevard:
Herodadotus.
You are aware I have a No "Haters Gonna Hate" policy, yes?
@Sea:
More like he is parodying Zoom. To ridicule him, Aizen, and that stupid meme at the same time.
That fits the rule of the army.Sea hit the nail on the head. Given your personal policy, I wouldn't put this as my sig unless I was mocking something. If you ever have a "worst villain" competition, I'll be sure to stay away, of course.

Well, I made a list of all the useful hints given to us so far. Different interpretations of the hints may be taken. Different from my interpretations. All of this will either confuse you more or actually help.
Individual Hints
#1! @Ubiq:
! > I can see how you might think percentages play a role in it and I guess it does to an extent, but it's a lot more limited than you'd think.
! @Ubiq:
! > Keep in mind that if it's true of one bounty, it must be true of all of them.
! @Ubiq:
! > Oh. Well. This is the last hint I'll give in any fashion other than Magic 8 Ball: the amount of the increase is irrelevant to the size of the initial bounty; beginning or end. Whitebeard's bounty went up by 90%, but the bonus is not 90% of his bounty if you get my drift. Magic 8 Ball Responses#2
Same formula before the tweaking.
! @Kitsune:
! > Say, is the same formula that applies to Round 3's variables applied to Round 4's variable as well BEFORE the tweaking happens.
! @Ubiq:
! > As I see it, yes. #3Round 4 variable
! @Kitsune:
! > Does Round 4's variable depend solely on the tweaking? If that makes sense.
! @Ubiq:
! > Very doubtful. #4The tweaking did not affect Garp the most and Shanks the least.
! @Kitsune:
! > So whatever this tweaking is, Garp was affected the most, and Shanks the least… Hmm...
! @Ubiq:
! > Don't count on it. #5Mysterious variable is not constant between Smoker and Hiriluk.
! @Kitsune:
! > So, whatever this variable may be, it is constant between Smoker and Hiruluk, then?
! @Ubiq:
! > Don't count on it #6The bonuses rank something.
! @Kitsune:
! > Are these bonuses ranking something, then?
! @Ubiq:
! > Outlook good #7Opponents have no affect on the numbers. (Note: 4th Round opponents do not affect the numbers. 3rd Round bounties still apply. See hint #18)
! @Kitsune:
! > And these numbers have NOTHING to do with their opponents, correct?
! @Ubiq:
! > It is decidedly so. #8Hiriluk and Smoker tie in some sort of measurement. (Note: They do not share a constant variable though. See hint #5)
! @Kitsune:
! > So whatever is being measured here, Hiruluk and Smoker happen to tie in it?
! @Ubiq:
! > It is decidedly so. #9Numbers have nothing to do with match order.
! @Kitsune:
! > Does it have anything to do with… match order?
! @Ubiq:
! > Very Doubtful #10Bonus is not a single statistic.
! @Kitsune:
! > So is the bonus a single statistic?
! @Ubiq:
! > My sources say no. #11The bonus is a sum of multiple statistics and a product.
! @Kitsune:
! > Is it a sum of multiple statistics?
! @Ubiq:
! > Signs point to yes.
! @Kitsune:
! > Or a product?
! @Ubiq:
! > Outlook good. #12Has nothing to do with post or view count.
! @Kitsune:
! > Does it have anything to do with a post or view count?
! @Ubiq:
! > Don't count on it. #13Has nothing to do with a character's margin of victory.
! @Kitsune:
! > Does it have anything to do with a character's margin of victory?
! @Ubiq:
! > Outlook not so good. #14The formula adds more than three numbers.
! @metteminne:
! > does the formular add more than three number?
! @Ubiq:
! > Without a doubt A Different Look On Things
#15Ranking the bonuses from least to greatest.
! @RobbyBevard:
! > Try ranking the characters bonuses lowest to highest, instead of highest to lowest.
! @Kitsune:
! > Roger- 613
Luffy- 614
Shanks- 624
Rayleigh- 802
Smoker- 1574
Hiruluk- 1574
Chopper- 1972
Noland- 2431
WB- 2987
Garp- 5000Hmmm….
! @RobbyBevard:
! > Think about the hint I gave and why I would think doing that would make a difference.Overall, I'm still confused as hell. The answer is simple once you find the formula but getting there is the problem. Don't over think. Use your senses.
(Note: I'm guessing "decidedly so" = yes. Hopefully it doesn't mean something like, "it's up for you to decide".)
-
Aw, dammit. Now I have more shit to sift through. Anybody got a good source for when characters appear?
The one piece wiki has the first chapter appearance of all the characters if you wiki their name.
I forgot about Garp appearing in his cover story though. That'd make him show up before a lot of characters.
-
-
Though I think Garp may be considered to appear in 431 via the equation, else he wouldn't be so high. The problem now is finding the value of the variables.
-
might i suggest joining http://piratepad.net/KUB4BafyRq
we will be able to discuss with a chat box and a right whiteboard on which everyone will be able to write points and edit at same time.
-
Another vital hint.
Order Of Appearance?
#16
@RobbyBevard:
You keep getting on the right path and then abandoning it, even after I basically confirm it.
Are you referring to the order of appearance?
Assuming the order of appearance happens to be a variable, how can that even be quantified?
@RobbyBevard:
When did they appear?

More Individual Hints
#17
! @Ubiq:
! > No algebra involved; just arithmetic.
! @Ubiq:
! > Garp's "bounty" was a bit of an oddball despite being calculated the exact same way as everybody else. #183rd Round formula applies and was not tweaked.
! @Kitsune:
! > Does it involve a character's past opponents in any way?
! @Ubiq:
! > Only to the extent that the Third Round bounties did. As previously stated, the formula used in the Third Round remains in the current version. It was not tweaked. The rest is all new though. #190's matter to a certain extent.
! @Kitsune:
! > Wait, so the zeroes behind the bounty are significant?
! @Ubiq:
! > Some of them are, yes. That's it. -
Math Piece .

Looking over this I'm so glad I've not been paying any attention to whatever the mods have been doing.
-
maybe we need to add page number along with chater name :s

am i mistaken, or are you insinuating that the mods would lie :ninja:
-
Mods never lie….....I think.
-
-
-
Never :ninja:
Reason: Cause I will make it happen :ninja:
i am still waiting for some 'mistake' to happen
-
…
...
...
I just noticed freedom edited his name.
Has Urouge switched to Urouge-san yet?
-
i am still waiting for some 'mistake' to happen
I believe the word you were looking for was 'correction' :ninja:
@Cyan:
I just noticed Freedom edited his name.
should have known this was hopeless… most people always capitalize it anyways lol
Has Urouge switched to Urouge-san yet?
Urouge-san is the character in One Piece, at least, that's my understanding of how it works…
So, what's the latest on the formula? I haven't heard you guys ask any more questions recently.
-
I have a question for any of the mods who know. Is subtraction involved?
-
So, after taking one of the variables from play, will Noland be left with a negative number?
-
I have a question for any of the mods who know. Is subtraction involved?
My reply is no.
@Kitsune_Inferno:
So, after taking one of the variables from play, will Noland be left with a negative number?
My sources say no.
-
And that… answers my question.
Are the measurements for one of the variables taken from the chapter the character appears in?
Or is it what anime episode they appear in?
Or is the value of the variable something else?
