There's a reason he gets used in final battle every time, he's one of Ash's strongest. Its one of the few NOT chilling at Oak's lab, but activley training to be stronger, in a valley full of Charizards.
Heracross, Torkoal, Gible, Sceptile, Swellow and Pikachu.
Sceptile is one of his other powerhouses, and Pikachu is well, level 100 at the end of every league. But yeah… Gible especially seems like a poor choice. Its full grown form maybe.
Granted, he was apparently up against a godamn Darkrai and Latias. So there is that.
Oh well, he'll show them all when he drags along Mewtwo, Mew and Lugia one of these days.

Anyone a bit glad, that Paul won't return for Isshu? I mean, if the anime was bit deeper, with characters stories, you could probably stretch it out to Isshu where he really begins to change, but I don't want another Gary, where he'll be flanderized.
Paul in my opinion was one of the best things from DP, and While it sucks he's probably gone, I'm glad he's not going the Gary route, where he suddenly is best friendly rivals with Ash.

Sno he deposited him after the Hoenn league along with Torkoal, he brough him back in this league in two episodes but ended up not using him.
Yea. He I'm a little fuzzy on the back story because I haven't watched those eps more then once, but he got pissed at his brother for losing against Brandon, and decided to put his Pokemon through hell like training, he eventually challenged Brandon, who swept his entire team. He gets pissed when he hears Ash beat him, and the rest is history. So while he didn't have Silvers past with Giovanni and such, he did have a unique backstory, which is rare for this anime.
Yeah, his brother was going for the last frontier symbol but got destroyed by Brandon and his brother was like Ash friend with his pokemons etc, so he got a little cold with his pokemons and only respects strong pokemons with good attacks, he released some pokemons during the region because they were weak or didnt have the specific attack he wanted.
Yeah Brandon used 3 Regis against him and defeated him, btw after the league i think he tells Ash that he is going to take part in the battle frontier and rechallenge Brandon, who doesnt have the regis anymore but Ash only beat his Regice also and Charizard got owned by his Dusclops so story wise all the other pokemons Brandon has are pretty strong also.
If you guys see his profile on Serebii its like everything fully evolved powerhouses, he actually also uses a lot of strategies, like Toxic Spikes, etc.
He is basicly for people who actually still watch the show and dont suffer of extreme nostalgia the best rival ever, like i said in terms of history, fightning style,etc.
The new Pokemon design looks as horrible a last one's generation, heck, worse. From generation to generation, new Pokemon have become less original IMO. I'm sticking with my Crystal and below versions.

Yep, he went to Suzuna/Candice's gym expecting a battle but when that didn't go through (because she had just got done battling Satoshi) he changed his focus to battling Jindai/Brandon and got his butt handed to him.

Latios, Latias. Same difference. One is red, one is blue, they have like 95% the same move pool, with one more focused on healing, the other attack.

This would actually be going by the games if it were anything not from the Sinnoh legendary pool, Mewtwo, Mew, or Jirachi.

This is the case for at least some of them. We've seen a wild Lugia and its baby. Not the same as legendary psychic Lugia. Rare, but not legendary.
Between the movies there's been at least 2 Mews, the second not quite as crazy strong as the first. And there's been a couple Regis too.
We've seen like 743 Lucarios, but only the one in movie 8 had psychic speaking abilities.
And I think Ash has seen Suicune like 4 times, but that could be the same one I suppose.
Well in the anime and i would say in the games also, the legendaries who are portrayed has big monsters are actually the big monster, Dialga, Palkia, Groundon, Kyogre, Rayquaze,etc.
The trios are not that strong compared to the others, neither the Latis, Heatran, Cresselia.
Yes Legendaries have made numerous aparances in the anime, diferent ones, ones may be stronger then others just like a normal pokemon.
I doubt we will ever see a Lugia or a Rayquaza owned by a trainer in the anime.
Rayquaza was stupid in the movie he appeared.

With all the time Ash spends buddying up with legendaries, you'd think he'd have caught at least one.

Seriously, I'm starting to think that Oak is actually heading some crime ring. He kidnaps kid's Pokémon, then forces them to send him new ones while they're shanghaied into marching into Pokémon gyms and beating up gym leaders… All of them, since they "forgot" to pay for his family's protection plan.
I sense that in the final battle, 50 years from now, Ash will reveal that he actually had a legendary, but he never used one because he considered that cheating.

IIRC he left it back in the original series/season 1 to train with some trainer. He never went back for it.

It was a league only rival no need for explanation for those, same thing if it was any other pokemon, plus the league was rished ignoring the Paul match so, he probably had more legendaries btw the guy was known has the Legendary Trainer so.

Personally, I like most of the new pokemon. There's a few...like the broccoli monkey...thing...that are hideous. But. I'm looking forward to the starter evolutions. POKABU FTW.

You know, Ash giving away his pokemon for an incredibly stupid or no reason always did bug the shit out of me. But that's now what killed the show for me. What killed it for me is that the show is 80% filler.
