^ The first thing that comes into my mind about pakistan is constant Defcon 2. I'm really influenced by the medias that only tell us about the terrorist attacks there. I know little about the country and the good things you can experience there. How are the people? What is the mindset of the pakistanis?
Pretty much your regular average joe's… just like everywhere, good and bad people living together in a delicate balance which as of late has been upset. Though its not as bad as media would have you believe.

Nope. My impressions of Portugal are awesome beaches and upright people with integrity (based, I admit, primarily on my landlord, one of the most honorable people I've met in a long time, who happens to originally be from Portugal)

That reminds me kmohudin, I was talking to Mugiwara no Ice earlier about this…
I did some research on the "Islamic" Crescent for a class, and turns out it's not really a religious symbol at all. It just came to be associated with Islam because so many Muslim states used it in their heraldry and flags and stuff. Like the Ottomans.
So in that way it was my conclusion that some modern Muslims and Muslim nations have come to see it as a symbol for Islam whether it has meaning beyond association or no.
I wrote this for the class and some Saudi guy flipped about it, claiming NO FUCKIN WAY DO WE SEE IT AS RELIGIOS, ITS ONLY IGNORANTW ESTERNERS WHO SEE IT THAT WAY
And I was all "yeah maybe Arabia, but other muslims use it, thats what I thought at least".
Mugiwara is from belgium and he agreed with me from what he knew hismelf and from some others he taled to in like the Magreb.
What do folks in the Indus land think about it, I eman ya'll have it in your flag and were never either Ottoman territory or have Turkic culture.

@JEARK DISEASE:I was thinking about the flag when i said that, not about the religion.

No one I know associate the crescent with religion and right until you mentioned it, I had never thought about it either. As far as I know (read in a text book as a kid) since Christians favored the use of "Red Cross" association with medicine, and since the Cross definitely has religious aspects, Muslims instead introduced their own symbol the "Red Crescent".
Thats the only religious association I know of apart from the Flags of course.
Although, the hub of Islam, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has no crescent in its flag…
