i can't believe they replaced ivankov's voice actor just because had nude pictures of himself tied up on the internet.
Society needs to be purged.

i really liked this episode, it was entertaining and the filler scenes weren't bad. i think the animation was fitting and i liked the music that was played throughout the episode. i don't have a problem with ivankov's new voice but i find vista's voice a little weird.
and every time Marco opens his mouth Ichigo pops into my head
ARGH I know right!?
This never happened to me with episode 316 and I was really glad for his voice sounding different than Ichigo's. Now I wonder if Masakazu Morita got used to his Ichigo voice a bit too much lol
I thought this was a good episode also. new Ivankov VA isn't too bad, but I prefer Norio. He's probably gonna get better, so no need to worry.
Flashback was good. Next episode looks awesome.
I don't know why people complain so much, but I guess thats what people do best.
LOL Marco's shoes
@Joe:

Well, Toei hadn't replaced him because of the nude pictures. Toei HAD to replace him because he was arrested for the nude pictures. Kind of wasn't their choice to make :P
Anyway I really liked the episode. But the Shanks error was kind of…. silly?
Goddamn so much bitching over what was a decent episode by all accounts.
The Shanks mistake was unfortunate, but why is everyone being so negative?
Because it's not the manga.
Oda can get away with missing scars all the time, Croc's extra hand, two straw hats, etc. But the anime messes up and it's the end of the world as we know it.
All of you guys here know what happens next, so why does it matter to you where the cliffhanger is?
Ending at Whitebeard calling Ace 'Son' made perfect sense to me, considering the context of the episode.
Reasonable posts in my Arlong Park? Nahh..
And yes, the last line was completely in context with the fleshed out flashbacks.
LOL Marco's shoes
Heh, Marco is such a happy fellow…
oh god, whitebeard's laugh makes him sound like a dirty old man, I'm already getting sick of it.
@Geg:
New Ivankov: Mitsuo Iwata
Thatch: Mitsuaki Madono
Vista: Masaya TakatsukaStill no Akainu.
Jesus fucking Christ, Takatsuka again?
@ultimateclima:
The preview is giving me hope that the next episode will be handled well.

Edit: The comments on this thread are dashing my hopes for this episode.
As I expected
Making the gap bigger and bigger to have the War beautifully done
Isn't it the first time they're trying the Gurarara in the anime?
I always thought that would sound too dumb if actually voiced, but i remember people complaining (lol news) that the anime removed his laugh. Hopefully they're happy now.Oh, and regarding Shanks' arm..thank God this kind of mistake never happens in my manga. Right?
If they just stressed each GU and RA differently, it would sound good
GU-RA-GU-RA-GU-RA-GU-RA
Whitebeard's seyuu just mumbled it
Upon the conclusion of watching this episode, I really could not hate Blackbeard more, especially with Thatch being given an actual personality and being shown as one of Ace's best friends.
ZEHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Speaking of which, Teach's insane face as the last hope he had of becoming the Pirate King came right to him was pure awesome
–---------
The only thing bad about this episode was some below-average animation and the end of the episode.
Regardless, can't wait for the next one, this is gonna be awesome

GU-RA-GU-RA-GU-RA-GU-RA
Whitebeard's seyuu just mumbled it
Except it's not "Gura-gura-gura", it's "Gurararara".
There's seriously no way to make 'gurarara" sound good when voiced as a laugh.
Oh, shit
That indeed weird
What the fuck, Oda
Wait wait wait , Takatsuka does Doflamingo , Van Auge and Vista now ?
They all sound completely different, though, LOL
^Nope, DoFlamingo is Hideyuki Tanaka. His voice is pretty distinct.
For a second i thought Takatsuka could have voiced Flamingo on his first appearance. But upon further inspection, turns out it was always Tanaka.
Oh shit, ANN lied to us
Dude I loved Ivan's voice. I don't like Whitebeard's laugh though it does make since to make it a low rumble like that. Haha i loved the part when Marco shoved his meat in Ace's mouth…..:ninja:
Great episode, animation and pacing was much better than I expected. I really love how they did Thatch's death, that was pretty epic. Two-armed Shanks is odd but eh, you'll get over it.

Yeah it's not listed on the main tv page , only on his own profile .
A bit of an offtopic question but : can anyone recognise any of the gorousei's voices ? I have the names for their VA's but they aren't diferentiated in any way (Keiichi Noda , Keiichi Sonobe , Kenichi Ogata , Masato Hirano and Yasunori Masutani ) .
Now Sonobe suposedly voiced Igaram , McKinley and "Princess (Centre Baskerville) so maybe that could help you identify the VA in question ?
Haha i loved the part when Marco shoved his meat in Ace's mouth…..:ninja:
Yes… now that sounds about right :ninja:
@Mr.333:
Do You Now?
:ninja:
Well played…..
Good episode. I prefered how Marco looked back in that episode Shanks met WB. But meh..its all good. I liked the filler bits..especially the bits with Thatch…he seemed like a nice guy...musta been a real tough bastard...shame he got killed.
Vista's voice seems a bit weird...
To bring up the Gurarara laugh again, I think we HAVE heard it before. Just not in the anime.
Pretty sure he used it in Unlimited Adventure:
I haven't gotten to watch this episode yet so I can't say how close they are to one another. But it sounds like he's trying to do a 'Gurarara' laugh in that clip.
Meh, whatever
The laugh will probably grow on me anyways
Shanks can grow his arm back as it seems…
GAYest episode EVER !
You guys are spoiled to much and demand everything to be 100% exact and right as you want it.
This episode was nice, I liked the parts they decided to insert themselves. Looking forward to the next week
Well, apart from Shanks's spontaneously regrown arm, this was a pretty good episode. Shame about Ivankov's voice, though…
Come on guys, the episode was fine. Great direction, pacing and good animation for most of it.
The 3 big nitpicks are:
#1- Shanks' arm– I don't like it either but considering Oda has screwed up in a similar fashion multiple times in the manga this shouldn't be a big deal (as goty said)
#2- Ivankov's new voice-- Even though I find it funny, I still think it's pretty good. Keep in mind that Toei didn't see the arrest coming and considering they had to find a replacement in such short notice they did fine.
#3- Weak cliffhanger- As stated in this thread before, wouldn't you prefer them to go slower at these parts so that they can go faster in the 14-page all-action chapters with doublespreads? Seriously.
Oh well, this is AP after all.
GAYest episode EVER !
GAYest troll EVER !
anyways, episode was surprisingly pretty good! despite the fail cliffhanger.
Finally watched the episode.
I loved the flashback, it was greatly done. WB's laugh was ok, even though I hoped he would use a clearer Gurarara as a laugh.
The only problem I had with this episode was Shank's arm but it's not that much of a deal.
To be honest Ivankov's replacement sound almost identical to the original.
Its a very good impression.
The Negative:
-SHANKS' ARM WAT DA HECK
The Neutral:
-Ivankov's new voice (It works.)
-Pacing (Not a whole chapter, but it can get away with it because it's a flashback episode.)
-Animation (Great in some spots, sloppier in others.)
The Notable:
-The flashback's end (Everything from Thatch holding the DF onward was chillingly well done.)
-Music (Good soundtrack choices.)
Overall, an average episode.
Whitebeard's laugh worked better in the flashback where it actually sounded like a laugh and not some kind of mumbling. I know some may not like, but I don't mind how with the manga, Viz altered a few of the more outlandish laughs to actually sound like laughs a person could say (Hogback's became ''Foh hoh hoh!'', and Whitebeard's ''Gah ha ha ha ha!'', but the ever-memetic ''Ki shi shi shi!'' remained the same).
My problem with Iwata's portrayal of Ivankov is that he's trying too hard to imitate Imamura, and the result is that it sounds very artificial to me, and thefastspeedatwhichhewastalking did not help either. I hope he eventually manages to settle in and we can have Imamura back after this has all blown over (I hope), but the first impression is not a good one.
Let's wait for the next episode where he laughs loudly.
I really expected his laugh to be something like Guraaaarararara

Actually, no..not at all.
Hmm the first half of the flashback felt rushed by One Piece's standards. The rest was good. Ivankov's new voice is fine, didn't even notice shanks' arm until I read about it but what's up with them choosing a random place to cut off the episode two weeks in a row. They should have ended it at the end of the next page.
Actually, no..not at all.
Guess we agree to disagree, I had no problem with it.
Granted it was only one line or so, ask me again when he has a whole speech.
Whitebeard: What enemy did you give it… your arm?
Shanks: This? I bet it on the new age... TWICE.
well i guess wasn't paying perfect attention cause didn't notice shanks has his arm back, but the pacing seemed perfectly fine to me, never felt dragged out at all.
the laugh is a bit weird right now, but i'm sure it will be fine. almost sounds like he is like clearing his throat to laugh.
Ichigo VA has been doing Marco's voice all the way back ro the Shanks meeting.
yep, I don't see the problem…
BB looked like one evil mofo in this episode when they show him eying Thatch's fruit.
Also, WB's laugh is sooo horrible.
Lastly, cannot wait for the action to start. I'll be looking forward to see which episodes they save Tate for
wb new laugh wasn't exist in ep 416 when he met shanks
but its amaizing
I am pretty sure they will use the "cliffhanger" in the next episode´s half.
EDIT: BTW in the last couple of episodes I have seen how Toei recycles scenes from opening 12, they have practically used every scene from 1:38 onwards that doesn´t involve Luffy, the one where Ace was going to get executed, the one with the Shichibukai and they have also used the one with the Admirals (IIRC they have actually used that one like twice) also the scene with Sengoku was re-used for a certain episode, the point I am trying to make is that the animation is gonna get really good in the episode when Luffy joins the war (As seen in opening 12) the art looks kinda like movie 6, not that top-notch but quite good IMO, what do you guys think?
Episode was pretty good, but the cliffhanger was super lame.
Looks like Shanks took his arms back lol.
Shanks is so awesome he regrows his arm to get drunk.

The Sengoku bit was especialy mismatched as even if it showed his face for only one second or so , it was stil evident his mouth was closed while he was "talking" .
Also it looked realy outa place , especialy the admirals scroll - that one should have been much slower .
only thing i didn't like was pop's laugh and ending. but loved the rest of episode
