Let's not forget good ol' Roger .
Chapter 591: "You Sure That's Alright?" Discussion

interesting chapter
Can someone tell me what Law means when he says "What's the dark king thinking this time…? "D" will almost certainly call up a storm again"
http://mangastream.com/read/one_piece/71384529/7
Pretty cool that we finally find out what Kuma told Rayliegh. NOw I understand why Rayliegh was so shocked after being told this.
After reading the chapter, I am in agreement with those that feel Luffy will receive some type of training by Rayliegh.
I think Rayleigh is a "Jonah" (in sailing terms, a Jonah is someone who brings back luck to a ship). I mean: he shipwrecked 20 years ago and was saved by Hatchi. He shipwrecked again now. And in Chapter zero, a huge "freak storm" hit Roger's ship (and Shiki's armada) during the battle of Ed War. And now Law implies that bad luck follows Rayleigh…
About "D", I think it's a hint towards some folklore, like the Davy Jones thing, but that will also be important towards the end of the story. Either that, or Law knows more than it seems.
-
So you saying that God just realy hates Ray ? :ninja:
-
alLright, superb chapter that was. Rayleigh has no DF and he still was the right hand man of the pirate king so safe to say one of the strongest in the world. This, I like. I am really curious as to how much luffy's bounty has increased but if it is an increase than it is probably ridiculously high judging from choppers reaction.
-
Just because Narto has his family in his head and other shounen overpower the protagonists, that doesnt mean that this should be overused.
One Piece is a story where conflict with world level armies are inevitable.
When that time comes Luffy cannot win with a ten man crew.
He will need superpowers and entire nations on his side. It's all about charisma and confidence anyway, things dear to OP's heart since chapter 1. Luffy won over Shanks and his entire crew due to it, if he's going to be the Pirate King of course he should have these connections.
It all makes sense.

Well it makes sense but sometimes its too much.

I'm saying that fate really likes to test him and anyone around him.
Well it makes sense but sometimes its too much.
Why? Luffy has done a lot to a lot of people. Since the beginning of the series, he has being doing nothing but getting stronger and gathering allies. As his exploits grow, so the does power of the allies he acquires.
-
GaaraofTheDesert's post was pretty bad.
-
Well it makes sense but sometimes its too much.
People like Luffy have always existed irl.
Look at fucking Joan of Arc.
Stranger then fiction. -
Bounty increase theory doesn't sound right. If it was just a bounty increase why would Chopper appear to be shocked and worried. It seems more likely he would consider a bounty increase a achievement rather than worry some. Also I could be wrong here but are not bounty increases always announced through bounty posters or for us the narrator?
-
Awesome chapter.
Background infos, Chopper and Usopp, Ray .Can't wait for the next one.
-
Gais, i feel liek luffy knows too many ppl and there gonna hold his little baby hand to raftel!
Seriously, Gaara, these people aren't on Luffy's crew. They aren't helping him every step of the way. Where were they for Croc? Enel? CP9? Moria? Luffy and the crew have to handle 90% of the shit thrown at them. It's only when world powers come into play that Luffy needs more than his crew, because otherwise it would get ridiculous with that much against the crew (at least at this point, but even later on, Luffy won't be able to fight wars with any less support than WB had). -
-So Haki training seems quite likely now especially since Luffy cannot move for two weeks.
- The Crew can all come to Amazon Lily now since Rayleigh left his vivre card with Shaky. They can go to her, get Sunny, and all go to Amazon Lily.
- It's also possible that we will get a time skip after Oda is done telling us all the straw hats whereabouts.
- lastly, I don't think a war at AL is unlikely since Oda told us that Sentimouru is a blabbermouth.
-
GaaraofTheDesert's post was pretty bad.
Your post is pretty bad.
Luffy's connections with Dragon and Garp happened since the beggining. He didnt earn them… -
the only things luffy hasn't gained is Garp and Dragon, those were given to him by default.
all other's he has proven himself in some way. sure he got a sort of leg in the door from Ace and Shanks in order to even get looked at by Whitebeard and Rayleigh, but we are 600 chapters in it is to be expected he earns some allies along the way or earns respect from people along the way.
its stuff like naruto that pisses me off when 500 chapters we are led to believe that hard work and attitude leads to great things and then all of sudden thrown into "oh by the way, your related to everybody who was anybody Naruto"

So Chopper should have been like "Yay! Luffy's bounty went up to one billion! Congratulations for pissing off that Government! You earned it!"?
-
You know, people are always saying two things with a shounen main person:
The main person is overpowerd
The main person has overpowerd friends.Gaara, so you would love to see the war where Luffy was pwning everyone? Because without his allies he would never be with the war. And we didnt get a nice story ;o
-
@JERK:
You're retarded if you think the anime made it up rather then them asking Oda for things they should know before depicting any filler of a place.
Yet when I said this to you, you said that we shouldn't talk about Anime.
So, in essence, you knew that the Anime was right, but didn't want to discussAside from being right on the Timeskip, I was also right that it isn't Dragon that makes up storms but the power of the Will of D
Good to know
-
It has to be some crazy plot twist…Either he broke into Impel Down again or punched another Tenryuubito...or something that we can't think of right away...
-
Where does it state that where Chopper and Usopp are in time is after the whole Luffy and Ray talk? It's the same time right.. or did they got a little timeskip?
I don't think a bounty is the problem there… Chopper loves the bounties, he was shocked when he saw he got only 50 berri xD. He would be like. SUGOI LUFFY..
But no, this is something different... maybe it's something to do with his family? Garp perhaps?
-

Exactly. Every time we have a timeskip, the narrator says it clearly. This time, however, there was no mention of going back or forth in time. So, Usopp's and Chopper's scenes are happening more or less in the same timesframe as Luffy's. Maybe not in the same exact hour or day, but clearly not a long time after or before.

Agreed.
But no, this is something different… maybe it's something to do with his family? Garp perhaps?
I don't think it's about Garp (nor Dragon).
-
I took the guess that the last page with chopper in it was a short FF on time.
like some people said beforeMaybe Luffy broke back into Impel down for some reason?
Maybe he hit another celestial dragon?
Maybe the marines decided to try Garp for treason or something, though, I don't see why chopper would refer directly to Luffy if that was the case, so I don't think that's it.
-
I doubt Garp kicked the bucket just yet . Oda needs to have a reason for saving him up and offpaneling his and Sengoku's fight with the BB pirates .
-

True. And Ace and Shanks were both won over by Luffy when he was a child. They didn't take one look at Luffy and immediately adore him. And even with a foot in the door, Luffy would still have to prove his own worth for the whole door to open to him.

And he proved that to Newgate and the WB Alliance by not giving up in the war and freeing Ace from the platform.

On one hand he has earned all those people's trust… on the other hand the fact that he was even allowed to earn that many high players trust seems a bit wonky (from a storytelling point of view). But eh that's shonen for you, as long as it doesn't lead the storyline where he is constantly being saved by his new friends and he stops finishing stuff on his own. As long as that doesn't come to pass I couldn't care less how many friends he has. Up until this war, the amount of friends he ended up having didn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things and I doubt it will matter in the harsher new world.
-
Very nice chapter. A lot of details were covered in just one chapter, and I love the Shakky shout-out, heh.
Here's hopin' we see what the rest of the crew is doing in the next chapter. And, as usual, I'm left wondering what Hancock's future will hold. Her crush on Luffy is getting a little annoying at this point. She's coming off more like a joke than a major character now.
-
!
I like how this page is also put into perspective.
-
So Chopper should have been like "Yay! Luffy's bounty went up to one billion! Congratulations for pissing off that Government! You earned it!"?
No don't be silly. It would be more low key. Such as "Wow! Luffy's bounty went up again" I don't think there would be such a need of disbelief. Especially after already knowing the events that took place.
Not throwing the possibility out, it just seems like that would be quite the over exaggerated reaction.
-
So my understanding of the vivre card is that it'll lead you back to the person who created the vivre card. So in this case, all the crew members will now make their way to Amazon Lily (assuming Luffy and Rayleigh stay there for training or whatever). If that's the case, maybe the sheer abundance of womenly bounty there will be enough to snap Sanji out of his okami state?
I suspect the reason he left a vivre card with Shakky is that so Hatchi or the Rosy Life Riders will come and bring the Thousand Sunny to rayleigh, where the rest of the crew will have assembled.

Yeah a lot of us were under that misapprehension earlier in the spoiler thread–there were pages of argument about it, but there is a page in Thriller Barque where Lola specifically says the pieces of the cards are attracted to each other, not the person. Ray seems to have left the card with Shaky to prevent the SHs from going to AL--maybe to better preserve Luffy's hiding spot?
-
I think that it is Luffy's new bounty, but I do agree that his reaction was weird considering he knew about the war. Unless he didn't know the extent that Luffy was involved. Did he only say that he knew there was a war and that Ace died?
-

Yeah, i too think that the reaction was weird. Perhaps the newspaper announces Luffy's death or something? Just a thought though
-
Not even sure if the whole ID incident was not put under wraps , or just the Level 6 out break .
@ Furnace : so Luffy has died before ? :O
(Outside of that old chapter title :P)
-
Luffy won't be going anywhere for at least two more weeks, as Law said that's how much longer he needs to rest. We may get another timeskip, but who knows.
-
I just now noticed something…
In the spoiler thread, Ohana said that Kuma stated in this chapter that the crew would be crushed a few days into the New World in the level they were back on Sabaody. But on the chapter there's no mention of that. Was it Ohana's mistake, or Mangastream's translation that is lacking the text?
-
Yet when I said this to you, you said that we shouldn't talk about Anime.
So, in essence, you knew that the Anime was right, but didn't want to discuss.I want to keep the anime the hell out of manga discussions because I hate how anime watchers assume as if the rest of us follow it. It IS superflous to the real story progression, and manga readers should have that privlige of not having to give a shit about it in here.
And it's a slippery slope, you've seen how retarded they are on understanding canon, even giving them that much room will unleash a torrent of WHY ISNT THIS CANON AND THIS AND THISI mean think about it. The filler episode shows Perona in the exact shallow meddlesome supporting role that AGOG and company are trying to deny, do you think I would hold back anime for my own benefit if I could be kicking Perona fans in the balls?
-
Whitebeards japanese name (白ひげ) is on the newspaper cover that usopp drops.
-
The chapter was great and all…but damnit Luffy has too many fuckin allies. Its becoming ridiculous !
Come on.
Marine Hero Grandpa - Checked.
Revolutionairy Leader Daddy - Checked
One of the 4 strongest pirates as a mentor - Checked
The strongest crew support - Checked
Pirate Princess falling for him - Checked
Antagonists saving his ass (Croc, Law, Bggy) checked
AND NOW THE SUPER LEGEND IS WILLING TO MAKE HIM STRONG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What the hell put him the Pirate King's crown on the head already.
What about dudes like Kidd and Apoo, do they have such connections ? How the hell are they supposed to play in this.None of the other Supernovi are Ds, and none of them tend to remind everyone they meet of Roger.
Also, they aren't the main character and are most likely enemies in the end.Plus, Luffy has the ability to make allies out of everyone he meets, and according to Mihawk, that's the most fearsome power on the seas.

Ohana and other spoiler providers tend to give their own spin on the dialogue or sum up in their opinion what they recall from memory.
No way managastream's translators just leave that out.
Besides it's more like they would've been crushed right there and then not a few days in the NW lol.

It brings bad stuff with it, but I always seen it as a foreshadow for what the manga would offer (and I was right), and I was denied of thinking this, because of some stupid shit like Perona supporters?
-
Law only has one speech bubble in this chapter and yet he manages to foreshadow an important plot point that will probabaly not be revealed or mentioned again until after 100 chapters(if we're lucky), but in the meantime is going to have me going around in circles wondering what he means, the history and role of 'D', and his possible past experiences with the 'D' lineage… damn it:getlost:
As for the newspaper I'll guess it is announcing luffy is dragon's son therefore becoming a great public enemy(more so than simply being a pirate) and/or the WG announcing he is to be eliminated at all costs

That's what I think as well.
I'm just asking this because Ohana's spoiler was a little confusing for me. The kind of talk like "They were so weak they wouldn't survive a few days in New World" is not like One Piece to me. Now, they don't surviving THAT encounter with an Admiral makes a lot more sense.

Luffy being Dragon's son was "hot news" two weeks ago when it was revealed during the war and the reporters back on Sabaody were all listening. I doubt it would be reason for Chopper to be so scared right now.

It's that last page that is really getting me thinking. I really think it's going to be fallout from Marineford, new bounties or whatever. Though if it was bounties for Jinbei and Hancock, I figure Rayleigh would of said something or it would of been shown by now. Although that just might be Oda's way of storytelling, trying to save it for suspense.

Rayleigh has been sailing for at least one week (time to reach AL on ship), so he may not be privy to the latest news.
-
You know now's about the time we start making Chuck Norris-y jokes about Rayleigh . :P
-
I'm just sure it's not Chopper finding out that Ace is dead. The chapter ended in the way that it's going to tell the audience something we don't know.
-
anyone think that chopper will train under shakky, I mean everyone els seem like that will take more time to get back
-
@No:

He already swam through the Calm Belt, dude, what do you want us to say more than that with "Chuck Norris-y" jokes?
-
So…is Usopp gonna stay fat?
