I'm ok with him as the Riddler.

I actually wanted it to be so during the Batman Forever era… even if that movie WAS shit thou.

Him being pudgy doesn't bug me thou... seeing as how Jack Nicholson made the Joker work in the original Batman and he had that same body type back then (when he should've definitely been a bit lankier for the role).

Insomnia creepy Robin Williams + Christopher Nolan could = Amazing thou.

Off the top of my head I honestly cannot think of a better established actor for the role.

Assuming they go for the Riddler (which I think they should).

Throw in some Penguin action there too for good measure (realistic mobster type).

I think Williams is great and has fantastic range, and can act whatever he wants… but I also think he'd pull me out of Batman real quick. I'd have a hard time getting past him being... him. Regardless of what performance he'd put in.

Some actors are in a lot of stuff and change so much for every role that you can't really tell... and some, like Williams, or Sean Connery, or Jackie Chan, are so distinctivley themselves no matter how good a job they do... they just are them. (And other actors played a character so iconic its hard to seperate them from that iconic characters. Mark Hamill and Luke Skywalker for instance.)

Seriously though, I love Robin Williams, and I know he could do a villain really well, but I agree that I'm not sure if I'd want to see him as the Riddler.

Now Williams as another side villain, or some Arkham Asylum inmate, that would be a cool and creepy cameo.

Anyway, I'm not that concerned about the villain right now. I'm more interested in the idea that Nolan wants to "end" the story. So instead of leaving it open ala Spiderman 3, this will be the final story of our realistic Batman.

Shit, I get chills just thinking about that. They can even kill Alfred, Gordon (for real this time) or even Batman himself and get away with it.

I don't know what you guys are talking about in terms of Robin Williams can never escape himself. I've seen a few of his dark films, and trust me, you forget about funny Robin Williams surprisingly quick, ESPECIALLY if the film has a really engaging script, which you know this will.

No one should doubt what an actor can do. Look what pretty boy Heath Ledger (all respects paid) managed to accomplish. If Robin is serious about the role, and the production is serious about the Riddler, it'll be great.

I said it before, probably in this thread… but Jim Carrey returning as Riddler, and playing it as Actor! Carrey and not ButtJoke! Carrey would be incredibly interesting. And bizarre. Never happen though.

Not saying "Well he's obviously going to be wacky on cocaine Robin" at all. But his face, tone of voice, way he delivers certain lines… there's too much comfortable familiarness with him. Sheerly as a guy who has done a crapload of work. (Its also probably the reason he grows a beard in a lot of serious roles. To help hide that very familiar face.)

My choice for Riddler? Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Dude's gonna be in Nolan's Inception too and Nolan loves to use actors he's worked with before (which should be in Williams' favor, but I don't think he's suitable).

I think Jim Carrey could easily get close to this design. I kinda want the Riddler to look like that, but maybe not as… flashy. Nolan could give it a little touching-up, like he's done with Joker and Scarecrow.

Then again, I like the image of an older Riddler played by Robin Williams, it would make him look wiser from age. Plus, he'd look good in a green bowler cap. :happy:

I'd say that design is more or less perfect for a live-action role as-is. It's nothing particularly outlandish, and just the right amount of flash for someone who's already bombastic enough to set up bizarre riddle-based crimes in the first place.

Nolan will never allow for his Batman to be included in the Justice League. It's way too easy to go that cheesy route Nolan hates so much. (see why he won't include Robin the Boy Wonder.)

It's a classic look, to be sure, but for Nolan's style I'd expect to see something more like a black suit with a green tie with a question mark on it.

DC might haave plans to. All Nolan is saying is that he (and his brother) won't be behind any sort of crossover.

As for Williams, I think he could pull the riddler off quite excellently, or the Mad Hatter, or most of the vilians in the Batman universe.

Awesome, but Nolan hasn't been confirmed for director? He did say he's gonna wait until after Inception's release and that he only works on one movie at a time

Not quite sure. It's definately his last, and he's definately involved. His brother's writing the script -
So I would heavily assume he'd be directing again, since it's basically the end of his era.

If they do shoot it all IMAX, I'm sure there'll be an uproar, so that's not likely.
However, I'm sure they'll stick to the no 3D, which I, for one am happy for.

They better fix Bale's voice somehow. He is forcing too much. A calm voice can be as threatning as a strong one. Personally, I think Val Kilmer was the best batman actor so far in the live action. He had a calm voice and I really believed he was mentally sick. He sounded NATURAL. He is what I envisioned Batman to be. The Dark Knight was more of a Joker film.

2 Major problems, I have with the Nolan's movies. They are good movies indeed

-The settings are TOO realistic. Batman is supposed to be a very dark environment. I am still in love with Batman returns atmosphere.

He's trying to make it so people can't recognize his voice.

I don't say that as in Bale is. I'm sure he was simply directed to do so. I didn't really have any problems with it although I thought the parody fallout and resulting YouTube videos were great.

He even used his "batman voice" in salvation. I swear. Even Kilmer used a darker voice when he is in Batman and he uses a lighter voice as Bruce wayne. He did a great job.

Kilmer was a joke of a batman. Clooney was too. Keaton did a good job in my opinion.

I love Bale's Batman voice. It does what it's supposed to in hiding that he is Bruce Wayne. There's no way anyone could put those two voices together.

And as for your "too realistic" comment, all I have to say is WTF?

They're supposed to be as realistic as possible- that is the entire point of Nolan's Batman movies! That's why villains like Freeze and Ivy never stood a chance of being cast.
So please, tell me, how are they too realistic?
