Just an update for the DVD/Blu-Ray
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/scifimediazone/news/?a=22873WTF!? They are punishing me for not having a blue ray player? Bitchies.
-
But don't you want to pay extra for crisp visuals, extra content, and a blue outlined box?
-
Day 1 bluray purchase for me. Gonna see if any stores have any bonus first before ordering from Amazon.
-
But don't you want to pay extra for crisp visuals, extra content, and a blue outlined box?
No I don't want to pay another $100+ for a Blue ray player because I rarely buy movies and honestly the picture on Dvd's is just fine for me. God damn you sales and marketing!

I have a PS3, and I still don't want to buy blu-ray.
-
You will have to eventually.
Bought a player last year and could not be happier. Can't wait until this gets released.
-
You will have to eventually
I'l wait until there's actual evolution and not just "its prettier", thank you very much
-
Most new releases now come in Bluray+DVD+Digital Download combo packs anyway. I have no problem with this.

Nothing better than Scott Pilgrim on the go huh?
November 9th, I can't wait. I already pre-ordered the Blu-ray on Amazon.
I am still so surprised how awesome it followed the books, almost perfect.I would love it if they showed Knives dad, he was pretty cool.
-
Yeah, Knives' dad was pretty great. Any old man that chops a bus in half is alright by me!
-
For those living in the US, Amazon.com has all the books on a huge sale: Each book is $4, except for book 2, which is $5.
So, $25 for all 6 books. Really good deal.

Wow, I highly recommended for people that haven't read the books. Although I am sure the movie had people rushing to go buy the books.
I also recommend Lost at Sea. It is short, but really good. O'Malley does a good job of potraying how I felt when I was in 5th grade. I can relate to Raleigh (main character) so much, maybe that is why I really like the book. A lot of cussing. lol

Uhh don't you know the reason they are doing this: they overstocked in anticipation of the avalanche of new readers who would undoubtedly come in after seeing the movie. Didn't work that way obviously with the movie making worse than "Vampire Sucks".

i don't think so - it was topping the charts as soon as the first trailer was released over at amazon. it shot up even higher the week before the film release; the comic DID WELL, the movie is the one that flopped.
i think they might be trying to get rid of their books, because a scott pilgrim box set is slated for november. there's gonna be a box that's cheaper than buying the individual books, with a bonus poster inside and stylish new art on the box:
not to mention, there's rumors of 'new versions' of the books coming out shortly after, as well as a 'bonus material' book that sounds like it's definitely happening. gotta push out the old copies in stock before people learn of the new editions and just get those instead. you could be right, but there already WAS a huge influx of new readers with each trailer that seemed to buy the books and skip out on the film altogether.
as a comic, scott pilgrim is still a gravy train, though.

Confirmation of DLC for the game:

I can finally see the movie next monday. Think I'm getting jitters already.
-
I saw the poster on DA. I'm saving 25 dollars… somehow.
-
I hear ya, man! It's awesome sauce!
-
yes, knives playable is something i'm pretty excited about!
here's the poster that'll be in the box set: -
Bringing up this topic to demand that pic from NegaScott's ending in the game. I can't find it anywhere.

A picture of the Boxset coming November 3rd.
-
Today I saw the comics from 3 to 5 in spanish, planing to buy them soon.
Already read them, but.. I want them.
-
Ugh, I'd like to get that box without having to get the books all over again. Not looking that that'd be a possibility >_>
-
Okay I dunno shit about the comic but someone please help me with the damn game.
It's like:
'easy easy easy easy easy easy OMIFGLASTBOSSISRIDICULOUSWTF'
I'm already level 16 but I've seen videos of people on YT with insane health and strength. What is that? From eating food? Does it vanish after three lives are up?
-
Yeah, you need to buy stuff, Greg. The robotic arm x2 from.. Wallace's shop I think, will max out your strength. Wallace also sells "One-up"s as far as I remember.
-
pay off scott's movie rental late fees. Then you can by crazy upgrades for dirt cheap. like less than 5.00$. You can then max out yer character stats quick.
-
GEKKO THERE YOU ARE YOU NEED TO PURCHASE VANQUISH
ahem
Okay so all those things you purchase PERMANENTLY increase your stats?
Then…question time...
WHAT THE HELL IS THE POINT OF LEVELS!!!!???? >_<
Purely moves?
-
Pretty much.
By the way, if you pay rental fees, max out then. When you leave, you have to pay again.
Oh, and a trick with money. Use two controllers. Make player 1 a character with little money. Player 2 is the character with the most money. Go in a store. Have player 2 give player 1 all their money. Return to map and then reset the game. If done correctly, the character player 2 was (who should be a guest btw) will still have all their money. Player 1's character will also have all the money as well. You follow?
-
I'm surprised you made it that far without upgrading… then again I played through the game on Supreme Master on my first run. You'd probably be more pissed going through Stage 3 on that difficulty.
-
I beat him without losing a life or GP…
-
Taser method?
-
Bought all 6 books today. Read the 1st one and half of the 2nd one so far. Was expecting more from Scott vs Lucas Lee but oh well.
-
Finally saw the movie.
Hmm.
Although I appreciate the creativity, the film is kind of a mess.
That's okay. I don't mind films that are all over the place, but it's a shame. I knew some of the ex's would get short-ended and those twins were the victim.
The videogame gave more personality to everyone.
Again, BOUND to happen in a film that deals with X number of trials or such so it's not grounds for any big complaints.
I think my biggest problem was…Scott.
For two reasons.
1. Michael Cera. He's the same thing in every movie and as far as I'm concerned is entirely interchangable with Jesse Eisenberg. You could change their roles halfway through the film and I bet money no one would notice. I don't dislike him from the start. I'd like to see him in a role he does something ANYTHING different.
The comic book character literally has more facial expressions than a real person. And that's just strange.
2. Scott Pilgrim. He's kinda a dick. I read the summary on Wikipedia a year or two ago and I was like, "Hmmm. Everyone in this story sounds boring or like a total ass. But I'm sure I'd find something more to it if I read it."
Well, maybe it's a case of 'the comic is better', but I dunno if (the movie was as respected by fans as it was) they messed with the nucleus of the character that much.
Like what they tried to do.
But I'm not gonna spooge over a movie just because it opens with a Zelda theme.
Loved the game btw. The Chaudown Trophy is a total waste though. Bronze for ALL THAT? Get real.

the video game continuity follows the comic closer. i'd recommend reading the comic instead, although i'd also WARN YOU that the comic places prevalence on character development while the movie focuses more on action and the video game gimmick.
it's not uncommon for fights to last all of 2 pages and be there to serve primarily as gags and character development.also, yeah, scott's personality..it's almost totally different in the books. fans respect the movie because for as rough around the edges as it is, it's entertaining and edgar wright, the director, just has crazy geek cred. not to mention, all the non-cera cast members were pretty spot-on (despite pretty much every one of them getting shortchanged as far as back story and development). still, go into any scott pilgrim movie thread on any site and you will hear infinite bitching about cera's take on scott. comic scott did have geeky, neurotic moments, but the character is akin to ferris beuler rather than cera's george micheal bluth or whoever.
so yeah, imagine the anime fan/gamer equivalent of ferris bueler, then imagine cera being casted to play him. it didn't, and still doesn't, sit well with fans. many die hard fans DO hate the film for various other reasons as well, but most of the new fans were introduced to the series via the film trailer, so they're a lot less likely to hate it.
personally, i enjoyed the movie, but LOVED the comic and the game.
scott is a little bit of a dick in the comic, but he's so funny and charming throughout that that dickish part of his character goes almost completely unnoticed until the very last book to many readers. it's tough to explain exactly why, but there's just a lot more subtlety to the character interactions in the comic. it might still not be your thing, but i can honestly say you could easily not dig the movie and get really into the comic and vice versa. my girlfriend and i liked it, but all our friends who're fans of the comic sort of hated the film. -
I have a feeling I'd enjoy the comic. It just looks more fun. The film, as interesting as the ideas were, was borderline depressing with Cera doing his best to kill any semblance of emotion in the character.

The movie is okay, but a lot of the character development is lost.
That, and the movie tries to make Scott the "lovable loser" type of character, when that's only a very small part of his personality.
If I know you like I think I do, I'm sure you'd love the books.

Is it just me, or is Jessie isenberg a much better actor than micheal cera? I've seen tropic thunder and most of the sorcer's apprentice as well as N&N, Superbad and this. And to be honest I don't think Micheal could have done what Jessie did in those other films. I get that Jessie has the same vibe and mannerisms to a degree, but at least I can read different emotions on his face that don't look forced as hell. (I'm looking at you Micheals fight face)
-
I think Micheal Cera could probably be a better actor, but he's been horribly typecast to all of these nerd/dork roles.
Comparitively, playing Scott Pilgrim is the most "diverse" he's ever been.
And that's just sad.
-
I knew scott was a dick. I just ignored him for wallace. No homo, but that guy is funny as hell.
2 minutes into a fight with Gideon
Wallace: "Scott! It's Gideon! watch out!"

Jesse Eisenberg is in none of those movies. You're thinking of Jay Baruchel.

The most diverse he has ever had was in Youth in Revolt. Scott was him playing awkward like he usually does

Oh my bad, well that guy is cool. To hell with Jessie then
-

And even that was awkward….both of him.
-
Youth in Revolt was one of the most awkward movies I ever watched
Doesn't help that the ending was fucking awful and unrealistic -
Greg you should definitely check out the graphic novels were as the movie focuses on the fights ,quick jokes, and video game references were as the these are all in the comics there just added bonus to the characters interactions and developments the movie ruined allot of the the character development and mad the character shallow and one sided
-
I bought Toy Story 3 at Target today, and they had "Scott Pilgrim" on the 'coming soon' display. Can't wait.
