He looks so much like Walken on this one XD Hahaha! -
Best fanart thread ever 6/5
You should really try to sell that but aren't copyright on these kind of pops?
And i prefer by far Doflamingo. -
hey CCC, I flipped open OP volume 54 yesterday and browsed through Usopp's art gallery, and I saw that a picture of your sculptures was included
is this old news or..?
-
That Akainu is your best admiral so far.

Awesooooooome
Still love Moria to no end <3 -
OMG, I just got it now: you use wire!!!!
(I always wondered how your sculptures DON'T collapse:P) -
I really hope to see you do monochrome clay sculpts soon. These are great and all, but to me they look more like play-do/cake sculpts. Perhaps practicing with some non-drying one color clay.
Try adding textures to your sculpts whenever you can, because right now they seem a bit smooth and made of dough.

That would necessitate painting afterwards, though, wouldn't it? I absolutely hate painting… but I love having colors XD
I checked out that site you sent me about textures- it seemed way beyond my capabilities O_O
Maybe when I reach a period in my life where I have time to educate myself and broaden my horizons, I'll be able to improve on the aspects you mentioned, but in the meantime (a time when I only have a handful of days every few months to work on anything) I can really only manage the style I'm comfortable with. -
Self-explanatory. Although the absolute earliest I could do this would be mid-March, and if not then, then late August O_O
-
wow i like the akainu sculpt
-
No explanation necessary I assume? More to come this week, hopefully (this is my spring break week).
-
You sir, have won.
-
I've never posted in your thread, CCC, but I've always thought your sculpts were awesome. Luffy one is pretty cool.
-
Fantastic :D
And YAY for springbreak! -
Thanks guys (and gals)!
I'm about halfway done with what's coming next. Without giving anything away, let's just say it's kind of different. It's nothing that Oda's drawn explicitly (so it's more "original" than pretty much anything I've ever done before), but rather it's something that many have speculated about.
Should be done either tomorrow or Friday, unless I screw it up entirely, which is definitely possible.
-
I'm quite pleased with myself for this one :D
Not only is it the first semi-original thing I've ever done, but it's also the first woman. No explanation necessary for everyone here, I assume (Ivankov's leverage over Croc = Croc used to be a woman). The pose is loosely based off of this fanart ( http://i28.tinypic.com/3qvpy.jpg ), but the outfit is obviously the Impel Down one and the face is pretty much all my design…Closeup and Top View:

that's very cool.
cheers man. you're doing great!
-
Hahaha! The head replacements are really awesome…Especially the last one~ ;P Keep rocking!
-
I think this is the first ever gender bender sculpt..
-
Yaaaaaaaaaaaay go genderbenders!!! >:3
This came out awesome, and the last head replacement is priceless XD

how could you do that?
and the bad thing is i freaking love it
awesome,dude. -
I think I can die happy now, having done this.
I don't think any explanations are necessary? Sorry if anyone was spoiled by this XD
Since I'll be sending a few of these pictures for the volume 59 Usopp's Gallery tomorrow, I'd actually appreciate some input as to which of the shots you guys think has the best chance (of the different angles and lighting).
Warning: The progress shots spoiler tag contains many many pictures.

WTF O_O How did Buggy get there!?
But seriously you are a sculpting God! I especially love Crocodile-chan!
-
I almost shat myself when I saw this. So awesome!
Then I almost shat myself out of horror when I saw akainu's face before you put the eyebrows on :C
@Shuhan1288:
WTF O_O How did Buggy get there!?
Law was playing practical jokes of course ;D
-
@CCC:
!
^This has to be my favorite shot of the entire sculpt. I laughed so hard–it should have been in the manga! And I do love how Buggy's head seems to get around. He's everywhere.
Wonderful gallery, great stuff. ^^
-
once again, you rock CCC.
keep up the good artwork!
-
Thanks for the input guys (and gals)!
Printing out the pictures today :D@Shuhan1288:
WTF O_O How did Buggy get there!?
His is the only head I made completely detachable (besides all the Luffy heads) so he tends to get around. Needless to say, Buggy's head appearing in random places is not actually out of the realm of possibility, given his ability or (as Mint mentioned) Law's.
-
You should send this one imo O:
And I DIED at the fun pics. DIED.
-
Wow you really did a great job with Aikanu and Ace! Very Nice!
You have your sculpts all together on display? if you have the time and you want to, make a collection shots plz.
Must be awesome all together _ -
And I DIED at the fun pics. DIED.
Heh, I'm glad I did them then! At the time, I was extremely close to being done (only the magma fist left to do) and after 35+ hours of labor total, I was itching to finish. But I realized that that was the only opportunity I would ever have to show Akainu giving the finger to Ace fangirls/boys (just kidding, I love you guys), or making a shadow puppet, so I took the extra 2 minutes to make those happen.
You have your sculpts all together on display? if you have the time and you want to, make a collection shots plz.
Must be awesome all together _How could I deny such a request?
Unfortunately I have no Detolf, but the shelves are still from Ikea.
Kaku and Kidd aren't there because they're too tall…
I have a ton more sculptures, actually, but most are from my early period and therefore not that good... As you can see though, I also have Ridley, K.Rool, Banjo Kazooie, Buu, Cell, Megaman, Wily, Mendez, Deku Butler, and the hand in the toilet from Majora's Mask on display on these shelves. -
Holy Shit! It's Banjo-Kazooie and Ridley!
And all your other stuff is kick ass too. How do you find the time, I wonder? -
Wow, that's an impressive collection! Very cool! Love the newest one- you've definitely been improving!
-
i see you still don`t have a Basco in your collection
-
@Cuddles:
How do you find the time, I wonder?
It's not easy really. Everything on those shelves was done post high school, which means that I worked on them exclusively during winter/spring/summer break (from college). The 3-4 month no-art hiatuses during school are the worst.
Love the newest one- you've definitely been improving!
Well thanks! I should admit- I recently acquired a book about sculpting the human form that was incredibly useful for this project (you can see the book in the background of one of the progress shots). Basically it showed me where to put all the muscles (as in the shot of the in-progress Akainu all in black), whereas before I would just slap on a piece of clay and call it a limb.
@Don:
i see you still don`t have a Basco in your collection
Get me his official color scheme and show me that he'll become an interesting character with a unique fighting style/ability, and we'll talk then. :D
-
Hey after seeing this I really want to get into sculpting, my friend and I were gonna start making for commisions but I reallydon'tthink i'll ever be as good as you
-
CCC…your sculptures are fantastic...crazy, colourful, completely fantastic.
It's like there's no end to your creativity and determination, I'm in awe. And they are fun too with the facial expressions <3I'm really facinated with the way you make the hands and arms, especially the ones on Dr.Wily and Hannyabal are freaking good.
As usual I love when people show love for details in their work, no matter the medium, and you sure do. You make such cute shoes!
Keep on adding in-progress shots, they are really interesting.Sometimes the faces and proportions get a little odd, but I think you are improving, and it is a wonder how you make everything without tools. As bad as you might feel at sculpting women shapes, you do the male torsos wonderful. What book did you get? Would it be possible for a photo tutorial on how you make those torsos?
Thanks for sharing!ps; can't help but favour Kaku, maybe it's the animal form that really gets me. More animals, please. Look forward to Monster Chopper

Pshaw, don't doubt yourself. Don't know until you try, right? I've thought about getting into commissions too (have you seen some of the crappy customs on yahoo japan that sell for hundreds or thousands of dollars?), but then I always get hung up on the emotional attachment I have to my work. I guess I could never do art for a living XD
CCC…your sculptures are fantastic...crazy, colourful, completely fantastic...
Well my compliment-o-meter is full for the next few months! Thanks for the glowing praise :D
The book is "Creating Lifelike Figures In Polymer Clay" by Katherine Dewey (found it on Amazon.com). I can upload pictures of the pages that show how to do the male torso tomorrow if you want them.
I certainly intend to keep adding progress shots (and to keep doing similar shoes and hands!), but I can't promise anything about Monster Chopper. As you mentioned, I am a fan of details, and I've never been able to see a whole lot to work with as far as Monster C.'s fur. But who knows! Maybe getting into fur textures could represent a whole new range of possibilites!

You are so right, art for a living is hard in so many ways, these words scares me. Totally know that 'attachment' feeling …
Oh, wonderful, DO upload those pages. If it looks good to me I will consider getting the complete book.
And you're welcome :3 I am no sculpture expert or anything, but I really like your work and I hope you know why. Praise or critics alike are no good whitout a why... wow that almost sounded like a proverb

Here are those torso pages:
!
-
Hmm, ok, looks good, they have nice explanation of the torso and what to take notice on. I think yours look a little different though, like on Arlong, I like it better. Looks more muscular and with better body-mass. The ribs showing seemes a bit feminine I think :) You did not use this book until later, right?
I've been wondering about the structure of your sculpts; it's wire and sometimes foil and filler clay. But what type of clay is this 'space filler clay'? Is it treated exactly the same way as the rest?
Btw, I forgot to mention how I also am impressed by the 'liveliness' of the clothes you make. I find clothes and how they fold/shadows and move pretty hard to draw, and I imagine it's somewhat the same when sculpturing. I'm also used to sewing, so it's kind of fun to think of clay figurines as 'dressed'. Clay-clothes. xD
It would be pretty interesting to see you make a monster chopper, considering you already got a good handling of for example the fur-neckline of Kidds' coat
