455: ''The Crew's Whereabouts - The Revolutionary Army and the Forest of Gluttony''

I liked this episode. (: It had the elements I love about One Piece.
The first half of the episode I found myself shred a tear, then found myself jumping form excitement, and then lmao.
So many emotions (oh my…). -
As I said earlier in the thread, you're in for a world of disappoint.
@No:
Why ?
Recap episodes start after next week.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah maybe it's a filler, maybe it's not,the problem is we don't know,if they have Oda's script or not and we don't know if there's a next part or not,
you saw Robin didn't have a kairouseki on that page, and that's a bit odd,she can own those bastards without hiding and she got bruises, prison uniform, keys and a rope
(the problem is we don't know)Look at the Nami, Ussop,Sanji,Franky and Chopper episode. There, they at least tried to cover the cover pages. Some with better success than others. By some it doesn't matter if there is a filler kid. For example in the Franky coverstory there is NO filler kid but in the episode there is. But this doesn't matter becaus the only think that matter is that Franky found Vegapunks laboratory.
Look there is a Muster. Every Strawhat gets his Coverstory animated, 2 Strawhats per episiode. When should they animate Robins real coverstory?. During the war, after the war? You really think they will animate the real coverstory? I don't think so.
This was Tates(or whoever is responsible for the content of this episode) try to animate the Coverstory but for which reason however he didn't even use the coverpictures.you saw Robin didn't have a kairouseki on that page, and that's a bit odd,she can own those bastards without hiding and she got bruises, prison uniform, keys and a rope
(the problem is we don't know)Robin is smart. She knows it is much easier to escape when you are not seen. Luffy, Zorro and Franky would have fought there way out but Robin,Chopper, Nami ,Ussop, Brook and Sanji would have tried to sneak out, however some would have had better success than others.
We don'T know how many wardens are there(more than 100 or maybe even more than 1000) and there might be some really strong wardens there. That's the reason why someone smart would sneak a much as possible.you saw Robin didn't have a kairouseki on that page, and that's a bit odd,she can own those bastards without hiding and she got bruises, prison uniform, keys and a rope
(the problem is we don't know)She allready had bruises when she landed on this Island. Those bruises are from the fight with the pacifista

@No:
Why ?
Annual summer break + recaps.
-
Well at least I guess we will get a new opening soon in order to get into the war climate.
-
Dunno this epirosde dissapointed me. The revolutionaries looked like fodder and it was nothing like the cover story… And the end of this episode was weak as well
-
What is Croc doing in the next filler episode preview..they should better not do bullshit.
-
BTW
what are recap episodes? -
Decent episode but really really bad artwork imo.But i lauged my sides of when heracress (or whatever his name is) punched usopp.
Also looks like we will see jimbei vs croc and zorro vs random flying axe next week.

Jimbei vs Croc? And that mysterious swordsmen is using an axe xD
Confusing filler

DESPAIR ! SADNESS !!!

now you're only speculating, you don't have to explain everything,
coz we don't know what happened on those 2 pages, there are only 2 pages,Oda must explain things, like why she got a rope, keys, prison uniform, bruises and those 3 revolutionaries etc.
we didn't even have Robin landing spot and why she got prisoned/handcuffed
Robin can clutch those bastards without being seen -
My résumé of this episode: Robins part was simply a no! One might also wonder how they can sell this to kids…
-
such fan service… LOL
-
Recap eps ? As in taking bits of the bad animation from ID arc and splicing it up to make no sense ?
Also summer break…...yeah .
-
The Robin part was nice, and nice to look at, her chest was just flying everywhere, but of course this is anime and there can be a nuclear explosion, but those breasts won't pop out of that top, ever…
-
I could have stood to have a whole episode or 2 dedicated to the Robin story. I'm just not a fan of Tate's drawing style (the way-too thin and crinkle-y outlines, dull faded colors without shading) but I found alot of things to like in the story itself.
I'm pretty sure the voice of the warden who was pissing himself about Robin was the same guy who did Magellan (don't quote me, I don't know how to verify that, just a hunch). Also, the guy who was abusing Robin had a nose piece that was evocative of Spandam. Possibly why Robin was so flippant with him in a "you call THAT torture..lol" kinda way.
Heracles'n was hysterical. I loved how Usopp started assimilating his speech pattern. Usopp's jaw muscles must be amazing to be able to support his entire (larger than normal) body weight as well as lift himself up!
The Bowin archipelago totally reminds me of Unicron. Tate is a transformers fan? ^_^

What is a recap episode? =(
Those things they did in the middle of Enies Lobby between the Luffy vs Blueno fight and jumping off the bridge.
-
This post is deleted!
-
Oh god , please tell me they won't create new episodes that will recap the same flashbacks we had recaped before .

@Thousand:
Those things they did in the middle of Enies Lobby between the Luffy vs Blueno fight and jumping off the bridge.
Oh no…. But thank you

Wow people who fail to see how bad the artwork in that episode was?
The thing that is bad about it is this anime is getting drawn in multiple styles. Where it can range from awesome to meh.
The art alone isn't super horrible terrible, but when you compare it to past episodes of One Piece, some that have had super nice art, this is extremely sub par.
I don't think Robin's part (story wise) was terrible, but Usopp's :/ I think the art style really fit that story XD
-
At least she's not yelling "BOSSU!!!!"
Good point…. she instantly gets one point above that other annoying girl

Yeah, but compare the animation to other recent episodes (not all of them though, mind you) and this is not that bad. Although this is far from Tate's best, he excels in animation-animation-animation. While his art is not as good.
-
A pretty good Tate episode.
Although Usopp's part was much better than Robin's this time. But cynical Robin jokes, on the other hand. Now, a little swordsman's diary, and on to the suffering!
-
I am only amazed by the insane amounts of manga spoilers without tags in everyone's profile pic and sig posting in an anime thread. Other than that, it's Naoki Tate. What did you expect. Tate is about cleavage and action and taking literally gross liberties with everything else.
! It would be just as hilarious if that Sabo kid weren't actually dead as it would be if he were. When you watch two goofy nerd kids squabble over their cute little hypotheses, it's really amusing and brings back warm memories. I'm the type that pulls for the goofy kid with the screwball ideas over the jerkoff kid who takes every opportunity to try and slam the goofy kids with a "fact" that hasn't happened yet. I'd laugh if that Sabo kid WERE dead…but I'd laugh so much harder if he weren't AND Oda did something as gutsy as make him a major character in one of the next arcs. Instead of waste reader's time with a big pity party flashback like some must think he did. I love seeing people that are way too cocky get theirs...but it rarely changes them much, unfortunately. They still grow up to be jackasses that no one really likes, deep down. But hey. Maybe Oda just wanted to write a little story about Luffy as a kid, and was just looking for an opportunity to force it in there.
-
Wow, with all the whining and complaining I was seeing in this thread, you'd think this was actually a badly animated episode or something. No accounting for taste I guess…
Definitely not Tate's greatest but still far better than the usual fare. The direction was also far better, I mean, actual use of dramatic lighting effects, interesting angles, good pacing??? Makes me miss when the One Piece anime actually incorporated these things pretty regularly, lately they've been so unstimulating.
I guess the deviation from Robin's cover story was a little perplexing but it wasn't a bad change really.
-
Honestly, even as filler kids go the littlest slave laborer wasn't really bad, and I can understand the difficulty of stretching out Robin's two pages into a ten minute segment.
I also really enjoyed the moment when the revolutionaries realized Robin was the most dangerous person on Tequila Wolf.

16 characters of I agree.

Tate does equal taste.
-
wow its just amazing to what lengths some of your will go to defend this director.
you honestly going to tell me that the art was good?
and the main point lets ignore all the art and just focus on robins episode part. I'm not saying it wasn't a good story or anything, but it was nothing like the cover stories. I can only imagine if this was a different director how much bashing you guys would do over the change in the story.

no
the art is bad and different, the animation is nice as always with Tate,
the director is great, even they didn't cover those 2 pages, that's about it -

I don't recall anyone saying that the art was bad. They're all talking about the animation itself rather than the art.

Ugh so much negativity

Like I said in my review, the animation is not bad at all, it is just different from the standards that you normally get from a episode. What makes it great to most of us it the fluid, rich animation that we see in the episode that gives it such vivid taste. Which brings us back to Tate=Taste!
-
i really dont like tate drawing its not look that great….
-
Why do so many people on this forum have such shitty taste.
I mean, I can understand people not liking the animation/art in ussop's story (its pretty clear the budget for this ep was spent almost entirely on Robin's segment) but how can you people not appreciate the subtly in Tate's art. He uses thin and simplistic lines and yet his art still shows crazy amounts of depth and skill. Just because the lines are scribbly at times doesn't mean the art is bad.
And i'm kinda shocked at how so few people have acknowledged how fucking good the directing in this episode was. creative camera angles and actually good pacing reaaaally made this episode great. Fuck the haters.

What thread have you been reading
-
That's because a lot of people don't even know that "art" and "animation" are not the same.
Always happens whenever a Tate episode airs. -
Not a bad episode though the end of Ussop's part kinda sucked , especialy animation wise .
-

You mean art or animation? Sorry it's kinda hard to tell in this thread.
-
Let me say it this way : the scene where Ussop eats Ramen to escape the mouth thing looks like crap .
-
Yeah I agree. Right when you said the Usopp part that was actually the first thing that popped into my mind when you said that it had horrible animation coincidentally.

During my rewatching of the episode, I did find a couple nicely-drawn parts. But then stuff like this showed up…
^I think these are just bad.Tate's style is just rough in general, and it's not my cup of tea. If other people like it, then fine. But I'm not gonna bash people for liking it. In the same way, please don't bash people for not liking it.
-
While the first is not that bad and the second is a motion shot , the last one is realy ugly . I realy hoped they would have given this to another person just to show TW done with a tad diferent animation .
