I'd like to know this too. As of right now I'm thinking he might be alive out there somewhere… But I dunno, even if that's the case it sounds like Ace and Luffy haven't talked to him since they were children from the way Ace said "if it weren't for you and Sabo" before his death. If he's alive somewhere, hopefully Luffy will meet up with him sometime.

First of all, you're discussing the most recent manga topics, so this should technically be in the Manga section, not the General Discussion section. Also, this could technically be in the latest chapter thread as well.

Granted we all know it won't happen. But here's the thing, at least temporarily, Luffy built himself up a powerful army that were surprisingly loyal to him. Given some extra time, we'd get used to the characters and come to like their interactions, or is that just an assumption? Could Ivankov, Crocodile, Jimbei, etc replace Sanji, Zoro, Robin, etc for you? Or would it effectively end your love/lust for this manga?
I recommend: Peerless Martial God, Renegade Immortal, Gourmet of Another World, Trash of the Counts Family and The Great Ruler

It definitely wouldn't end the manga for me (I don't know if anything would), but after 400 chapters/episodes with the original Mugiwara, I would feel something missing without a doubt. I love the original crew, but I really liked the break-out crew as well…but I think that's only because they were the break-out crew instead of me believing they'd permanently stay with Luffy.

I don't see the point of Luffy getting a new crew after ALL of these chapters and arcs revolving around the crew. Furthermore, Ivankov is a member of Dragon's army so he wouldn't join the Mugiwara, Crocodile has his own ambitions, and Jimbei only seems to be taking care of Luffy for Ace - he'll probably leave soon to protect Fisherman Island.

x20a, this isn't about probability of it happening.
Actually, I wouldn't be too happy with it, but for a limited amound of time, it was/would be kind of fun. I still couldn't live without the other Mugiwara.

I can see Boa and/or Jimbei joining the existing crew, but not as replacements.
Yes, Luffy does tend to gather an army each arc(CP9, Thriller bark, Shabondi, Impel Down) to fight for his cause.

I don't think nor hope Oda will replace the crew, but I can't say the color spread for Chapter 547 wasn't a fresh breath of air.

I don't think Oda could. They all have their own dreams and none of them have accomplished their dreams yet. It wouldn't feel right if we never saw them accomplish their dreams.

Note: Where I say "granted we all know it won't happen". I'm stating that this isn't a thread about the minuscule possibility or even outrageously high improbability. The question isn't about the chances of such a thing happening. It's about your thoughts and feelings in regards to not seeing the crew again and Luffy moving forward without them.

Could Oda replace the Mugiwara Kaizokudan? NO. They are all nakamas. Nakamas for life. You think Jimbei, a Shichibukai, will become Luffy's Nakama? No. They won't replace Luffy's nakama. The Mugiwaras will use their Haki to find one another and reunite themselves with Luffy, senchou of the Mugiwara Kaizokudan!

I don't think the characters you listed would replace the strawhats, but I really wouldn't care too much if he has a temp crew.
Well, he will for the time being anyway.
But the strawhats not being together is what has kept most of my friends from continuing to read it, they don't give one crap about whats happening right now they just want to see adventures.
So replacing the SH permanently would probably break this series.

And don't forget the Admirals. We don't call them Blue Pheaant, Yellow Monkey, or Red Dog usually. We usually call them Aokiji, Kizaru, or Akainu respectively.

No SHs without strawhats wouldn't be the same. It was good at ID to have a break but I can't wait to see them once again.
