I really enjoyed this episode, best animated episode in a while. Glad to see even this small fight between Magellan and Ivankov in the manga was able to be expanded slightly in the anime. Then again, animators always find a way to do that. Great episode none the less.
448: ''Stop Magellan! Iva Unleashes His Secret Technique''

What important in a scene like that is the movement. Take a look at this scene from The Matrix:

The faces are also very devoid of features. The lack of facial detail does not matter because in some scenes it is not the details which are important but the movements of the characters and their position in the set that denotes the significance of what is going on.
Thats how I see it.
the only complaint i have about the faces being devoid of all features is at around 7:40, when it is only Iva standing there and we see magellan walking up and at most see his legs. its just smoke, background and a iva with no mouth/eyes/anything.
like 7:43-7:50 in the one i have right nwo.

People love to complain about 1-2% of the episode, and ignore the rest.
-
I liked this episode, I don't see why people complain so much.
-
Pfft
And here I am thinking this was gonna be bad. You guys made me worry for nothin.
-
some people here just don't like Tate's "evolved style (movie 9 and recent eps) and i'm one of 'em.
That's it for me  -
The episode was definitely slow, but Tate made up for it with the animation. I'm sure someone like TLC will continue arguing about Tate's style because it's something you either like or don't, but it wasn't subpar for Tate. Not the animation or art anyway. The episode directing was terrible, hence the slow pace and still shots, but otherwise it was fine.
I got a laugh out of Iva's gags in the middle of the fight, if only they'd actually used said fight for time instead of dragging everything. Would it really have been that hard for the episode director or whoever's responsible for planning/storyboarding come up with a relatively short fight sequence for Magellan and Iva given all the attacks and possibilities for filler attacks they have? Short on time/budget or not, I think it'd be something s/he could have came up with and then Tate would have made it awesome. I think that's my only problem with the episode, not using the obvious fight to take up time and instead giving us slow Inazuma cutting, staring contests, and repeated Buggy scene.

I just have to say that these threads are becoming too predictable.
-
The animation more than made up for the slow pace. The padding and use of still-shots was poorly concieved, but this still comes out as one of the better episodes in ID so far.

Worst animated arc ever.

Worst animated arc ever.
Enies Lobby says hello.
-
I'm just sad that we didn't get to see Iva's attack….
Like... at least dissolve a couple more stills over it with punchpunchpunchpunch SFX. It'd be a little more satisfying.
-
Enies Lobby says hello.
Nah, try Little Garden, with it's bottom-of-the-barrel-bad artwork. Enies Lobby at least improved once they got to the Tower of Justice.

True. The fights were done okay. Minus most of Luffy'vs Lucci and all of the zoo segments and fights.

Oh, why not just go back to the very FIRST episode of the series then? -_-
-
Heh. Enies Lobby should have done well with its animation budget given how much of each episode were recap.

I knew you'd be around hating on this arc again…:getlost:
Oh, why not just go back to the very FIRST episode of the series then? -_-
Because the early episodes were actually really good and I only really started noticing the occasional bad animation/art when it got to Little Garden like Crossword said? Might have had some bad moments before then but they were far more negligible and I honestly don't remember them specifically like I do w/ Little Garden (Enies Lobby had some horrible moments too; oh and the god awful Dofla&Kuma entering Mariejoa…).

How long till we get to the War? Another 10 episodes of poor pacing?

I give it eight.
-
And the war won't have poor pacing :D
-
no fillers or tv specials?

You're right…
...it will have absolutely horrible pacing. Unless they start putting several full chapters into each episode, the war will be as slow as Dragonball Z.
(Dear Toei, please start doing 2-chapter episodes for just this one arc. If you get too close to the manga, you could always stall for time by giving us more episodes about the other Straw Hats.)

The war is sure going to give them stratospheric ratings, theire provably wishing they could do 4 episodes of 1 manga chapter, lord save us…
-
The war arc did have a lot of fights that were implied and not expanded on. If Toei could just expand on them in a good way and not just have someone staring with eyes looking like they are been microwaved, I think the anime could potentially be better than the manga with that arc.

+100000000
They need Oda's help and this could be the greatest battle ever! But if they make a godamn filler… better not think about it xD
-
Remember how we had one of those Oyabun fillers in middle of the last third of EL ? (301-ish) ?
I would realy love to see more of those soon . Just to make up for the anime being to close .
-
Well they did 16 pages or so of the actual manga chapter and they left Mr.3 heroic deed for the next one, but I think it wont be enough for the entire 449 so Jimbei in action should be seen as well.
So actually I believe in 4 chapter we ll be leaving ID (actually in 3 chapters there is Bon chan's sacrifice but they ll probably extend it to 4 episodes.
After that we start seeing Ace no execution platform, shichibukai, and WB arrivalhe actual start of the war is in 8 chapters but since they ll be extending things for a bit I would say in 10 chapters 2 and a half month the war officially starts, but we ll be seeing war formations and other stuff before that anyway
