This one should actually prove to be more difficult because thinking about it atm I'm coming up with a blank
Games That You Love That Everyone Hates
-
-
The World Heroes games, especially World Heroes Perfect.
-
The Boktai series with its solar sensor goodness. Too bad I haven't actually played them in ages.
So how do you folks feel about Sonic Spinball?
-
Donkey Kong 64
X-Men Mutant Academy 2
and drawing a blank after that.
-
Final Fantasy V and VII
And what do people think of Tenchu 1 and 2?
-
I liked Wrath Of Heaven eventhough it was a bit short & unrealistic at times.
-
Wario World. I don't see what people have against this game!
Also, Viewtiful Joe (they never made a true third game to finish the trilogy) and Psychonauts (at least, going by the sales).
-
Viewtiful Joe (pissed because they didn't make a 3)
Megaman Battle Network 5 & 6
& Grand Theft Auto -
Only one I can think of that most people don't like is Final Fantasy X-2.
Say what you want about the story, but that was one of the most fun battle systems they've made for a Final Fantasy lately.
-
Dark Cloud
Fur Fighters: Viggo's Revenge
Donkey Kong Country/64
Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie -
Yoshi's Story. Yep, I said it, I like Yoshi's Story. Don't get me wrong though, I thought Yoshi's Island was the better game, but Yoshi's Story was fun as well.
-
Pretty much every anime game I own is hated by my piers
-
@Tommy:
Dark Cloud
Fur Fighters: Viggo's Revenge
Donkey Kong Country/64
Banjo-Kazooie/TooieI thought that most people liked the Banjo series at least that's what I
heard on Wikipeida. -
Don't know a lot of fans of Bust A Groove or Guitaroo Man… both great games if you are into good music!
-
People don't hate Bust a Groove and Gitaroo Man, they just don't know about them.
I for one, love those games.
Megaman Legends. That game series is crapped on by nearly everyone, but I loved them to death (Including the Misadventures of Tron Bonne).
-
@Sandai:
Wikipeida.
Keyword.
I remember as a young'in that I loved Azurik(Forgettable X-Box launch title.), and couldn't figure out for the life of me why it was getting 2's left and right from critics.
Oh, my younger days.
-
I know about most information on Wikipedia being succinct but I wouldn't any information on certain video games like B & K to be made up.
God Of War II G-Phoria & BAFTA shunned this game badly.
-
Bust a Groove was amazing
I never played the second one though
Hamm was great
-
@Kei:

THIS. I've been meaning to buy it online for sometime now, since I only rented it a long time ago.
-
@Kei:
Megaman Legends.
Dude, I loved MegaMan Legends.
I remember I when first played it…awesome. Took me forever to get to where I was when I eventually stopped. The after starting a new file years later, had the game beat in a weekend.
But yeah, I really liked this game, too.
And I also enjoy Mega Man X4 and X7 (I know I'll be barked at for those)Edit: Just thought of moar.
*Sonic Adventure 1&2 for the 'Cube.
What can I say? I liked 'em. Hell, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle was my first GameCube game.*Starfox Adventures
*Crash Bandicoot series
Crash Bandicoot, Cortex Strikes Back, and Warped by Naughty Dog, GREAT! Wrath of Cortex was okay (unaffected by loading times 'cuz I had the XBox version), and what I've played of Twinsanity seems pretty okay.*Kya for PS2, a really obscure title, but I thought it was pretty good.
-
@Cap'n:
Bust a Groove was amazing

Hamm was great
I wish I had that game again
The second one had somewhat better gameplay, but since Avex Trax didn't do the music, it wasn't nearly as good as the songs on the first game… Though the second game is extremely hard to get ahold of unless you pay up the ass on EBay... -
Battle Stadium DON
Capcom Fighting Jam (didn't love it, but it wasn't really as bad as everybody said, wouldn't buy it tho)
Lair (Fuck the naysayers, I found zero problems with the controls, my dragon did just as I commanded) -
I'd say Donkey Kong 64, Pikmin, and Mario Sunshine.
Not sure if the last two are really hated, but I've seen them bashed quite a bit.
-
Megaman Legends? I've always been hearing about people wanting a sequel to wrap up that cliffhanger in 2.
Oh, and I forgot about people hating Super Mario Sunshine.
-
@Solar:
Oh, and I forgot about people hating Super Mario Sunshine.
Yeah, people complained at it being "too hard" and saying the camera was bad, so Miyamoto said the next Mario platformer (Galaxy) would be easier. I dunno if that promise is gonna be kept or not. Personally,I thought the difficulty was fine. It got tough at certain points, but it was fine.
-
Sunshine wasn't as hard so much as it was just… underwhelming all around.
The hardest parts (the insane platforming dimensions) were actually the most fun, by far
-
Sunshine. I don't see what's wrong with it. The camera was only annoying for me when I was in tight spots (the buildings in Delfino Plaza, for instance). I liked it more than Mario 64, though that's probably because I played it first.
Overal, I think it gets a lot of complaining that it doesn't deserve.
-
+Resident Evil [before [I]RE4]
+Crash Bandicoot
+Mario Party series
+Donkey Kong 64
+Banjo-Kazooie -

Samething here Sunshine wasn't as hard as 64 or 64 DS.
-
Sly Cooper Series.
Tak Series
Ty Series
Evolution Worlds.the other games I like everyone else does.

+Banjo-KazooieBoy, what you talking bout? People loved the old RE games. They just haven't aged that well is all. People adored them during their hayday (I know I did although I was too scared to played some of them). And I thought people love Banjo Kazooie as well, but you may be right on that one.
-
People loved the old RE games. They just haven't aged that well is all. People adored them during their hayday (I know I did although I was too scared to played some of them).
People liked the old Resident Evil games until RE4 came out, then they all crammed into the Hate Car like a bunch of clowns.
-
Considering I've only played RE2, I see no reason to hate it. That game used to scare me as a kid, 'cause of those damn spiders. So, unless RE4 is godly, I don't see why people would hate the old ones, just because it's better.
Ah, the good old days…
-
Well, from what I've seen, RE4 (my fave RE) and the originals are pretty polarizing to the fans. Half hate the pre-RE4 games (for being old) and half hate RE4 (for being different). But yeah, messed up how they quickly turned on the old games like that. Funny thing is that the controls are still the same after all these years, bar the aiming and whatnot. Yet, that's the main criticism of the old games.
-
I never thought that the controls were THAT hard in Resident Evil. In fact, the addition of the quick 180 in RE3, made everything all the more easier.
I'm pretty sure the control scheme has become something of a staple for RE. Whatever the reason, it helps makes the games hella scary.
-
RE4 is a fine game and all, but it's just pretty pathetic how people instantly dubbed it the superior title of the series, despite the fact that the game went from a challenging survival game to a fairly easy action game. But yeah, it's mostly because of the following camera, the fact that you don't really have to conserve ammo […], and infinite saving.
Capcom can stick to this formula if they want, but it'd be heartbreaking if they never make another RE with the old-style formula.
-
Didn't mind RE4 taking a shift to a more action oriented game. The only flaws I had with it was the fact that it wasn't scary, and maybe there was abit too much ammo. RE5 so far looks to be fixing the scare factor, and hopefully they tone down the ammo a wee bit, and we'll have another hit on our hands. Sorry about steering this off topic, I just fucking love RE4.
And to add to the list, kinda liked SVC Chaos (mostly for the character interactions). Sure, broken as all hell, but dunno, I just liked it. It was neat seeing the SF characters in a different art style and was nice to see SNK try to add a storyline (finally) to the SVC crossovers.
-
Etrian Odyssey. I'm sick of people going "OMG HARD GAME IS IMPOSSIBLE WAAAAH THIS SUCKS" all the time when its only really challenging.
-
Meh, If you asked me, I say that RE4 is plenty fucking scary, even with the new camera style and more action oriented gameplay. Capcom managed to create just the right atmosphere that makes you think "I wanna get the hell outta here…", not to mention that the game had beautiful visuals.
I remember the first time that I encountered one of the chainsaw guys. Somehow he managed to get behind me, and when he landed the blow..."HOLY FUCK!!"
-
There's, like, two scary parts in all of RE4: the first time you meet Dr. Salvador, and Oven Man in Chapter 5-1. That's it.
If RE5 is going to stick purely to the RE4 style, it really needs to take note from older installments and make the game actually creepy. Some of those dank warehouses and shacks have real potential to be creepy as shit, so maybe Capcom will deliver.
-
Oh, speaking of Capcom, that reminds me some other games to add to my list here:
Megaman X1 - X4
Megaman 6 (I've heard that this one is hated amongst fans of the original series for some reason)
-
What
If anything X1-X4 are the ones everyone's crazy about
Here's one for my list:
Mega Man X5
-
@Cap'n:
What
If anything X1-X4 are the ones everyone's crazy about
True. But the X series is general doesn't seem to garner as much love as the most of the other offshoots. (Except for maybe Battle Network, and I don't know what people are saying about Starforce.)
And don't know whether it was the order of events, taking away the classic shooting through walls element…X5 just frustrated the hell out of me.
-
Hmm
Earthbound (Mother 2) eventhough it was insanely difficult and the
battle system was a bit of miss.Final Fantasy X - Yea I said it
Sonic Adventure - same as FFX
Megaman X6 - The only Megaman game I've ever beaten
-
Wait people didn't like Viewtiful Joe and Psychonauts?
-
Why is so hard to believe that nobody paid those games no mind.
-
@Sandai:
Hmm
Earthbound (Mother 2) eventhough it was insanely difficult and the
battle system was a bit of miss.People hate this game? I've seen nothing but good things about it. Though it wasn't very challenging, it was still awesome.
-
If that was the case Nintendo would've brought Mother 1 & 3 stateside too
as for it not being challenging, me and you must've been playing a different
game I got so tired of getting assraped I had to make myself lvl up automatically
and invincible (though I could still die) just to beat the game (emulated.) -
Namco X Capcom
People always say that this game gets too repetitive and boring… and, honestly, they're right. I just personally never got bored of it for some reason, and now it's one of my favorites.
I also agree with whoever said WarioWorld, that was just a fun beat-em-up. I also really like Marvel VS Capcom 2, even though a lot of fighting game fans loathe it. And, although it is more obscure than hated, I love The Misadventures of Tronne Bonne with an undying passion.
-
I dug Megaman X5 and X6 as well. X6 ended up being one of my faves because of the hard difficulty level and the fact that they redrew Zero's attacks.
