Whitebeard: Overconfidence and carelessness… is your weakness....
Am I the only one thinking this?
Luke Skywalker: Your overconfidence is your weakness.
Emperor Palpatine: Your faith in your friends is yours.Star Wars Parallel with Whitebeard and Blackbeard?
No but you are on to something.
Notice Blackbeard's devil fruit really didn't matter and Whitebeard still owned him? This may be a glimpse of a weakness within him for him to fall in a fight
Thanks, best capter ever! Very powerful message, Oda is really a great autor. And R.I.P. Big W!
Thanks Aohige!!!
I'm sticking by what I said in the spoiler thread about Whitebeard's last words. :ninja:
Yeah, I agree with you now, no question.
My theory of OP having something to do with the Void Century also seems to be more likely now.
You best believe that Whitebeard's death is Top 1 on One Piece's greatest moment of all time. All time.
Move forward! Go forward Newgate!!!

Waiting for Kanye West reply.
Someone will really have to color that page with Whitebeard and Roger talking.
The entire chapter should be colored! O:
Can someone give a literal translation of the Kana and Kanji captioned by One Piece? It's in the chapter (when Whitebeard shouts that One Piece exists).
ひとつなぎの大秘宝 hito tsunagi no daihihou is how it's been captioned for a while, I think. Big treasure that connects/binds people is how I've read it.
Thanks for the translation, guys.
In all of Blackbeards fights, he's shown far too much overconfidence in his abilities and he's paid the price for it. Against Ace he allowed himself to get hit with those "fireflies" but his endurance and powers overcame Ace. He completely underestimated Magellan and nearly got himself killed along with the rest of his crew. And he once again overestimated his abilities and underestimated WB non-Devil fruit power. If Blackbeard is to become the a Yonkou, he has got to work on his overestimating of his own abilities, which is quite possible since Whitebeard himself told him his weakness. After this encounter, Blackbeard could become stronger than ever partially due to WB's comment.
Oh, and "My-Theory-of-Blackbeard's-Plan-To-This-Point-Being-Right" FTW!!!!
Whitebeard you are the man.
And man Blackbeard is evil, i love to hate him, a good villain he is.
If Nick Simmons makes another Incarnate and copies this whole chapter…
Yeah, I agree with you now, no question.

It does seem to be growing in connection. Though, with the Rio Poneglyph being located there, we've known that for quite a long time. As much as I read this, I don't really see any new info as much as I just see the things we already knew (or heavily suspected) get reinforced.
OP may still be a treasure to lure people there, with the other things residing in the same spot. That's kind of what I've been leaning towards.
And there will be a happy Moria next chapter.
Oh sweet, a clue to the Will of the D.
Well at least we know how the final battle of the series will play out.
Yeah, I agree with you now, no question.
My theory of OP having something to do with the Void Century also seems to be more likely now.
YOUR Theory? Yeah, take a number. Zephos, myself, and countless other people have all had various theories over the years.

Hm cool you said pretty much exactly what I was going to post..
Damn, a great chapter, thx Aohige for the translation
so the unknown's name is Abalo Pizarro, and he was a king somewhere, just like Wapol :)
and it's officially Gol D Rodger, and it's piratically official that One Piece is the written past of the Void Century
not to mention how bad-ass WB was
worth the wait
Yeah, I agree with you now, no question.

Umm…isn't that obvious ?
Dunno, OP implies Rio poneglyph, Rio poneglyph implies void century, void century implies WG, WG implies ancient kingdom...
Well i believe D. has somethin to do with the ancient kingdom's name since this one (the name) is the key to the mistery that is the void century.
Well i'm beginning to deviate here...
Thanks Steven and Aohige !
So now it seems more and more obvious that One Piece and True History are connected. We can expect an even greater battle than Marineford's war in the end of the manga according to Whitebeard's last words.

Indeed.

So? I was talking about something myself and Urouge were chatting about in the spoiler thread based off Sengoku's anger in the sketchy early spoilers.
I didn't call it a incredibly unique groundbreaking new idea or anything. Get off your high horse.
but what about buggy?
where is he lost?
!
Thanks to those who provided the chapter.
Yeah…it's old men week in Jump, but Whitebeard went out like a man. Can't say enough without the script though...
What'd be great is that the story gets really serious only after one piece is found.
Hopin for another 15 yr
but what about buggy?
where is he lost?! [qimg]http://media.onemanga.com/mangas/00000002/000200972/16.jpg[/qimg]
Whitebeard is still stading, wait for the next chapter:ninja:

He's preparing himself to take Teach's head.

Nah, he's hiding. :ninja:
When roger told his name, I thought he was going to explain more about the Will of D, but anyway…
This was probably the best chapter I have read so far... Whitebeard really was a great man!
Thanks to Aohige for the trans and to doflamingo for the raw!
Hmm, about the Pizarro guy, maybe he is named after Francisco_Pizarro.
He's preparing himself to take Teach's head.
Whitebeard is still standing. This is Buggy's chance to kill him!
Im sorry but i cried when i read the chapter. its so epic whitebeard you are truly a man among man. a Demon among Demons. R.I.P I salute you
hmmm , after that what will happening 2 WB crow Marco , Vista and the others
Funny that recently Togashi(HxH) and Kubo(Bleach) both tried to emulate Whitebeard, but came out weaksauce. And here, Oda produced a being worthy of succeeding AresKratos, Odin, Leonidas, and Chuck Norris as Gods of Manliness and War.

He's gotta get in there quick before the marines. Those carrion pickers have already taken Aces's head, I wouldn't put it past them to try and nick what's left of Newgate's.
RIP Edward Newgate.
"You've never been Pirate King, but sure you were the Badass King"
thank you for the translations

Fortunately, he has a huge advantage in the fact that he can send just his hand.
So it's confirmed that BB didn't make sense by wanting the shichibukai title.

It was pre-ordained that he would get the chop-chop fruit just for this moment.

Ah, so that's what it means. Thanks Steven.

I spent way too much time arguing why it'd make sense a while back to want to go rehash all of it now that we know it's true.

Hopefully we also get his floating head "Gyahahaha! see that world?"

Wow, you think they were trying to make their old men like Whitebeard? …lol
And you think Netero was weaksauce?
...lol again.
I didn't call it a incredibly unique groundbreaking new idea or anything. Get off your high horse.
While Oda does know how to throw unexpected twists around, when he does foreshadowing it all usually plays out in a pretty straightforward fashion. This chapter proves that again.
as such:

The one thing I still don't understand though, is that Teach originally wanted to capture Luffy to get his title.
If he'd done that then he'd be a warlord but Impel Down would be able to draw on manpower from MHQ, which wouldn't be embroiled in a war.
How did he expect to get away with it in his original plan? Was he still going to try to capture Ace afterwards?
Ah well, I guess it's all academic now.
- The D's are descendants of the destroyed civilization
I was thinking about this a few days ago. O: And that that civilization could've been destroyed by the twenty kings that created the World Government… o3o

Fate.

Maybe he was was confident that he could get into ID and beat Magellan. He does overestimate his own abilities as WB said.

He must have figured that with these additions to his crew he can do pretty much whatever he wants (like a yonkou so to speak), so once he gets them he is home free to sail to the NW for glory. That also explains why he is so casually mocking Sengoku already and parading around the full marineforce.
