I swear if Cabbage man isnt in this movie Im going to kill a bitch.
The Last Airbender movie sucks
-
-
From the trailer Appa looks okay, but you can hardly see anything. But I really wasn't a fan of Season 1, I was more of a Season 2 guy.
-
I swear if Cabbage man isnt in this movie Im going to kill a bitch.
I just want Foamy Mouth Guy, myself.
-
i want toph and i want toph right NAOW
I remember how I thought the first season was insanely great and I loved to watch it. Then came the second season and it all turned into a prelude to Toph. Every single episode of season one suddenly turned into a countdown to her first appearance.

why is all the fire nation is Indian?

How do test screenings work do you get chosen at random or is there a process required to get in?Anyways which i would have known about it earlier. Would have been great to be part of it. But from the two reviews being from people who havent watched the show, and no review has yet to pop up from an actual fan means they were probably only looking on the opinion of people completely new to the show.
Anyways still plan to watch the movie. Hope we get trailers of actual acting soon.

Lol, Gotta love the whitewashing BS. Looks like they are going to try to cram and rush a bunch of story arcs together that will form into one large pile of crap.
:getlost: -
I wouldn't complain until you've seen them act yet
-
I don't care if they are amazing actors. it still bugs the hell outta me to look at him and think of zuko. the other 2, I can let slide, even if they're Caucasian, but not zuko. You never know, I may change my mind after seeing it, but it's really bugging me, so we'll see.
it's like, oh, lets say, getting elton john to play luffy, or something. even if his acting is amazing, I'm still gonna stare at the screen going WTF.
-
I personally believe appearance is as important as acting, especially if it's based off original source material. Reason I'm not interested in this movie the slightest bit.
-

I am now imagining Elton John's silky voice coming out of a rubber monkey like Luffy. It's…sublime. x_x
Also, captain usopp I'd say give him a chance. You remind me of all the people who hate Keanu Reeves and are pissed because he's playing Spyke Spiegel. It's not even directly based on acting, it's misplaced aggression toward the character Neo and people thinking "Neo" is going to play Spyke.
Just let him [Zuko/Reeves] do his thing, we can always complain afterward.
-
The actor choices don't bother me that much.
Katara and Sokka look fine.
Aang I'm not too sure on…but he is only 10 so he is a kid.Zuko...nyeh. He was only chosen for this because of Slumdog Millionaire.
The person who annoys me the most is the acting choice for Iroh.
-

No, people are thinking "Keanu Reeves". He's… done more work than just the Matrix, and he's been terrible in all of it.
Ted "Theodore" Logan. The guy from Speed. John Constantine. Klaatu.
The man has done a lot. Most of it not very good. Not to the roles. But the acting.
-
@robbybedfart:
Ted "Theodore" Logan.
Whoa now, let's not go that far. Ted Theodore Logan is a time traveling hero and gave us the Dude Epic. What do him and Bill say in the face of death…

I don't see how hiring two relatively unknown white kids whose acting is going to suck tremendous balls is better than hiring Dev Patel…like i could understand how it could be worse or equal but Dev Patel is a qualified actor..the others are from Twilight and, well not even as noteworthy as twilight...which is saying alot...
after seeing the new trailer im almost assured this is going to be terrible overall, with sequels planned as it looks like it just covers everything from book1...i weep for the franchise...why do the keep giving Shamalyan money!

I predict that we will get a Naruto movie in this decade.

Keanu Reeves is a terrible goddamn actor, and anyone whose seena nything he's in knows this.
You are delusional as fuck if you think is based off the Matrix, the Matrix isn't even remotely the worst Reeves. Ever watched Devil's Advocate? No? Then shut the fuck up. -
Yeah, wow Terek.
People hate Keanu Reeves because he's an atrocious actor. Neo wasn't even him at his worst - though any role in which Keanu Reeves can stand there non-acting is bad enough.
I thought everyone knew this.
-

I second this.
I hope it good… the Super Bowl trailer looked great, and my dad said he would go see it even though he has no clue what the series in about.
Does anyone know how much of the series this movie will cover? -

Does anyone know how much of the series this movie will cover? It looks like all of book one. since the fight with the water tribe and the fire nation happens at the end of 1.
-
your such a hypocrite >_>
I know.
I thought everyone knew this.
I'm sure most people who hate Keanu are basing it SOLELY on his Neo role. Seriously, people like Christian Bale were career nobodies until they had a breakthrough role in a major movie, and only after that do people go and look at their older stuff. For what reason, I don't know. I feel a lot of them look up the older roles just to reinforce their already concentrated hatred.
I didn't find him particularly bad in The Matrix. He's eons better than Tobey Maguire, in that even when he wears a vacant expression he doesn't have some bizarre smile slapped on top of it.

That may be the case for some, and it is not an incorrect assumption to make for many, but the problem most people who dislike Keanu Reeves have is that his "acting" is typified by his Neo role. Bland, deadpan, dear-in-the-headlights, with little subtlety and forced "cool," lacking anything in the way of personality or character. He doesn't emote at all - and if you're middle range all the time, in every movie, guess what: you aren't acting. It's like how Ben Stiller plays the same character in almost every movie. Only much, much worse. Sadly, Neo became the "cool action hero" standard for a good while, black leather trenchcoats and all. It's an easy target, but it is far, far from the only one.
Keanu Reeves non-acts in virtually every movie he's done, from horror to sci-fi to comedy to summer action flick. I struggle with the thought that people would be mad at him because they think he's going to play "Neo" as a negative, because as far as I can tell (and I've seen way too many of his movies), that is a very legitimate concern! I'm worried he'll play "Kevin Lomax" "Johnny Mnenomic" "Shane Falco" "John Constantine" "Alex Wyler" or "Klaatu," too. Because he plays them all the same. He has a track record, and hell if I want that near Spike-Motherfucking-Spiegel.
(Didn't like him in "Bill & Ted" either, for that matter, and that movie was arguably much bigger for him than "The Matrix" because it defined his backpedaling to be taken seriously as an actor.)
-
No see Silence, you don't understand. Terek doesn't want to argue with you and any of the rest of us. He doesn't even want to acknowledge we exist.
He wants to argue with his strawman he's concocted and damn it, he's going to do that no matter who he appears to be quoting. -
The new teaser trailer looked, well, cool. I didn't exactly expect cool. While I like the dude, Shamalayan isn't somebody I accosiate with cool. A positive surprise, that is.
I thought Reeves was a great Klaatu. Also, that guy can have a sexy, charismatic beard. He should have more roles like in A Scanner Darkly where he can use his beard power.
-

Wasn't scanner Darkly computer painted-over bizzarro visuals?
He might not even have had a beard in that.
-
When it comes to anime/anime-ish cartoons being made into live-action American movies, a lot can be judged from the trailer.
I know I use this example a lot, but everybody knew Dragonball Evolution was going to suck dragon balls when the teaser trailer was released. The teaser of The Last Airbender seems to be very promising, so maybe this movie has potential to kick ass.
-
@robbybedfart:

He might not even have had a beard in that.Yeah, the one with a paint-like rotoscope filter effect.
Based on P.K. Dick novel (I have read some novels by Dick but never this particular one). Besides interesting visuals, it actually has a pretty kick ass cast. I didn't enjoy the movie itself that much for some reason.
While I can't say 100% sure, they could had had used a beard filter, I'm still pretty sure he did employed his awesome beard power in that one. In all seriousness I have this memory of seeing a making of the movie, although I have this big feeling I'm remembing wrong.
-
New trailer!
7KK_3OhFu6YGotta admit the one thing that is begining to annoy me about the movie is that it looks like firebending requires a source to be used…
-
Ugh, I can't believe they flipped the race card..
Every time I watch a trailer, this feels more retarded, I don't want to watch it on principle.
-
The acting is on Twilight tier.
-
Gaaah, I hope this movie doesn't fail that badly like DragonBall Evolution… the effects I saw in the trailers were freakin awesome, but I'm not sure about Noah Ringer as Aang... Why use a no name kid who never acted before in his life as the protagonist?! I think that the show was really really great, so they better don't screw this movie up.
And Aang always smiled in the show and was pretty childish in the first and second season. It's part of his personality. But we never saw Aang smile in the trailers. Why?
Oh I hope this movie won't be a SRS BSNS movie because that wouldn't fit the "childish" feel of the tv show at all...
-
This might be a case of limited footage, but the kid playing the Aang is a bit too "serious business".
The opening of the tv show has him flying around gleefully then smacking him into the side of a wall. I'm hoping they haven't traded in all the light hearted fun for more action and cheesy drama.
-
I'm hoping they haven't traded in all the light hearted fun for more action and cheesy drama.
Nah, that would be like trading in the obvious ethnic backrounds of the characters in favor of Caucasians:getlost:
-
Crap, good point.
There should be a cap on how many things you're allowed to fuck up in a movie based on existing material. Lord knows how many movies could've been saved.
-
You know people keep making a big deal out of the casting calls. We don't know how many Asians tried out fot the roles. And hell maybe those who did sucked horribly at it.
And for the recorded the only ones that clearly resambled asians to me was the fire nation.
-

why do they have to be asians?
isn't the two main water people like eskimo's. ang can be really anything, though typically i guess people think of monks as asian. the fire people and any other country can be anythign too.
this is a nickolodeon show, made by americans. and personally i find that most anime characters don't look asian anyway. i've seen real life asians, yea shocking, and not once have i ever thought wow he looks just like goku or nami. there are some that you can tell somewhat like say sasuke does, but for most partk anime/manga/cartoon characters don't look like any race.
they are all a made up race of skin colored crayon. which is funny that skin colored is peach/white, lol. racists crayola

It's a stereotyping problem. If Aang is American, but the Fire Nation asian, it sends the message that "Asians are evil, but are destined to be defeated by Americans".
There are a lot of dumb people in America who actually believe that kind of thing. That's why asians are sensitive about it.

#1 response when asked what race anime characters look like: No race
#2 response when asked what race anime characters look like: American LOL -

You'd be surprised.

Hot damn
JDG9IizVNSo&feature=player_embedded#And it seems to me that lower level firebenders need a direct source of fire while the higher ups need nothing by them.

Actually, part of the reason people are so upset is because we HAVE seen records of their casting calls, and they asked SPECIFICALLY for caucasians for the lead rolls first… and said that anyone else who wanted to give it a shot could come too.
Yet for the Fire Nation "hordes" casting call they asked ONLY for mongolians. So it's clear they were aware of race in the asking: get your facts straight. http://www.racebending.com/v3/background/caucasian-or-any-other-ethnicity/
http://www.racebending.com/v3/background/the-last-airbender-timeline/
Even Roger Ebert condemns it: http://www.racebending.com/v3/press/roger-ebert-condemns-the-last-airbender-film-casting/
Anyone who doesn't think they "look" asian probably doesn't want to hear that the creators have stated the characters ARE asian and inuit in Avatar featurettes, that each and every aspect of the show was based on specific and varied cultures ranging from China to Tibet to Korea. The clothes, the eating utensils, the martial arts, the writing, the philosophies, the architecture… I mean, come on people! This is part of a bigger problem of whitewashing, which happens all the time. When will Asian actors get the opportunities in Hollywood they get in their native lands? It's aggressively offensive that they ASKED for a cast of white main characters but in the same breath ASK for only mongolians to play the evil fire nation characters. Hell, the only reason Dev Patel was cast was for Zuko was because Jesse McCartney backed out due to scheduling conflicts. You don't think there's anything at all wrong with them taking an utterly asian-in-every setting way, and specifically casting the heroic leads of a children's cartoon as white, and making all the extras and specifically the villains angry unwashed asians?
sum real white privilege up in hur
