I wonder if anyone's ever tried cosplaying as Mr. 8. It must be a hard costume, especially the hair.

I've actually tried to convince a friend to do Ingaram, but he wouldn't go for it. Quite a shame…
Ginny, I'm liking the new Nami cosplay, and congrats to getting the colors right!
I bought my fabric the other day for my Nami cosplay. Its just a simple blue plaid pattern as I'm going for one of her earlier outfits with the blue heart on it. Worn during the Apiz arc and Jango's Dance Carnival. The only thing I'm concerned about is getting the fabric lined up on a nice and even diagonal angle.
-
@Seta:
Holy crap!!! o.o! Thank you to Zio for showing me the recent colored manga scan, it was a pleasant surprise when I got out of work. For once, I didn't get completely screwed on the coloration, at least where the jacket is concerned. Although, I'm not really sure what else Oda could have made it, but you never know.
Too bad it's hard to see the rest of her outfit…oh well..Oda needs to do color pages every week.
Score! XD Your jacket looks so perfect, I love it. I always thought the skirt would be pale yellow… like the one in that outfit with the "3" tank top was SUPPOSED to be. XD It looks like there's a little sliver of the top of her skirt in the picture, and it looks yellow to me. So if you ever find a yellow pleated skirt hanging around, I'd go with that. <3
-
Wow… never expected to see one of that guy from the Koby mini arc...
BTW funny sig finny (cheap, ain't he?).
-
@Solar:
BTW funny sig finny (cheap, ain't he?).
Yeah, it's actually a joke about my friend's lunch at school last year. XD She was all happy saying, "Look at all you get for $1.80!" a bunch of times and then after eating part of it she realized her sandwich was moldy, and yelled, "LOOK AT WHAT YOU GET FOR $1.80." I love random inside jokes in my signatures. x_X.
My Mr. 9 jacket is looking soooo bad XD Argh. I'm just gonna have to deal with it for Otakon because I can't afford anymore fabric to do it over.
-
reminds me of a comic that was talking about a 10.00 spending limit on his dates…
-
Gwah…I really want to do a Franky cosplay, but I can't for the life of me figure out how I'd do his massive forearms. Any of you cosplay geniuses have an idea?
-

Milk jugs ? xD;
(I'm starting to actually consider a Vivi costume for AX06… mwah ! we'll see)
-
Why don't you try to paint Hulk arms?
-
Yeah, thats a good idea, or you could use water wings under some cloth or something like that.
-
Major w00t! The Dude and Irresistiblement - thank you! I'm extra excited about this one now!
fin fish - Thank you! ^_^ If you're ever looking for the jacket yourself, see if there are any G&G's by you. That type of jacket seems to be in style, but that place had it for half the price of all the other places I looked.
As for the color, yeah, when I looked at it, I thought it seemed either orange or yellow looking. Right now…I'm kind of stuck with a black skirt x_x (for the moment! By AUSA, when there's hopfully a definite color picture, I might try ordering or making it.) I'll be going to look at fabric for the top today. Originally I had wanted orange to go with Sanji's black and orange. But I'll see what I can find XD
Franky arms...hmmm..Paper mache would be easy and cheap...It'd just be delicate. Another option might be getting a muscle suit.
-
Why don't you try to paint Hulk arms?
That is what I was thinking, as I still may do the costumed Franky since I love the mask and all so much.
-
Ahhh, thanks for all the advice. You guys are great.
-
Why don't you try to paint Hulk arms?
I was always curious how to make a Franky Costume work, the Hulk arms just might be your best bet, and you won't suffer a heat stroke in a muscle suit.
-
Hmm.. My convention is over.. and well..
I'm still waiting for Mushi to send me the better pictures. We ended up running into a.. mini-Zoro and mini-Sanji…
Also there was a Luffy, Nami, Mr.9 and Miss. Wednesday there.. HOWEVER.. those pictures are all on Mushi aka my Nico Robin…
-
I really like your finished costumes… I see that _______ went with the scarf idea which turned out nice. Can't wait to see more pics
-
Wow, _______, the Chopper costume came out awesome! You did a very nice job. I think the scarf worked as the neck cover. Strings, your Sanji also looks good. Nice pictures, post more when you get 'em!
Edit - Congradz to Irresistiblement on being the 666th post, and to me for being the 666th reply according to the stats o.o! Hurray for the huge Cosplay thread!
-
That Chopper cosplay is awesome! Isn't it someone here on APF?
The Sanji turned out really nice Strings!
-
Awesome Chopper XD And Strings, your Sanji came out great. <3
I finally finished my Mr. 9 jacket that I've been putting off forever. Cusps kill me. Mr. 9, I have all the respect in the world for you for actually making this thing. O_o.;;
Whoo!
I also finally got a white pinstripe suit for Fullbody o_O.;; I need to add some buttons to the jacket and… get some shoes that aren't boots that show through the pants and make my crappy foam iron fist thing again 'cause I apparently lost mine. If I get lucky I'll figure out a way to make some sideburns before Otakon. XD
Scar's on the wrong side 'cause I'm an idiot.
Then there's this Little Garden Nami thing, and like…. x_x.; My hair's going to be long-ish and blonde for Kalifa, so I can't just use my hair like I normally do, so I'm stuck using my Mr. 9 wig for that because I'm too broke to get a longer one. XD; If I flatten the sides down enough I think it's passable. Blah.
Luckily, I think Nami's hair looked shortest around that point in the anime, so XD Man, I still have a huge bruise on my leg. Whatever, I need to go make dinner.
-
Fin Fish, nice job on Mr. 9. Just add some bats and it's fantastic.
-
This all looks pretty good. I would like to cosplay too, but the ony character I could dress up would be Mr4…...
....dammit.. -
I'd try papier-mache to make Franky arms, perhaps built over a cardboard tube frame for durability and to ensure the edges don't get damaged as you put them on.
I've decided that cosplay is now on my life list of things to do. Right up there with learning to drive a diesel locomotive.
-
One again, you've made some amazing OP cosplays fin fish! But that white pinstripe suit looks a lot like PJs! XD
-
Haha, it does XD Best suit I could find for a reasonable price though, I've been looking for sooo many months. The style's actually pretty accurate though. His jacket's really long and stuff. Believe me, I've studied it. XD
-
Ahh… so you stalk fictional characters...
The costume's quite well done though.

666th… haha, leave it to me to get that one. Congrats to you too, Ginny!
fin fish, I ADORE your Mr. 9 outfit.... its too cool for words. You pull it off quite nicely.
-
Awesomeness awesomeness everywhere! You guys all rock. <3 <3 <3
Here's the new one from me:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/agentginrei/SanjiApron.jpgMuch thanks to the people here who assisted me with reference pics!
More to come, as Otakon is rapidly approaching… twitch twitch -
Looks great! <3 Did you make your Sanji shirt or did you find one that already had stripes and everything? Because my friend's been looking for one lately.
-
^_^ thanks! Actually I found it at the Salvation Army for like 3 dollars. Super lucky find! I swear I spend my life in those places, just searching for cheap cosplay goodness.
-
fin fish and agentginrei, awesome pictures…I can't wait to see the costumes in person at Otakon XD!
Salvation army is definitely a cosplay god, right up there with hot glue.
-
Here I got a couple more pictures.. so YA HA!!
and Just for some Kicks…
-
Hey Strings where was this con held
-
It was held in Western Canada, Edmonton Alberta. This was the most One Piece cosplayers, I've seen in my convention experience… and still there was a million Inuyasha's.
-
actually I was wondering, umm was this held at a school or something.
-
Oh my goodness! It's the deadly Santouryu dining technique!!! I could so see Luffy using that move to help speed up his eating process, much to Zoro's annoyance of course! :D
-
actually I was wondering, umm was this held at a school or something.
Its more like a College Campus.. like 4 buildings.. Nothing like you damn, Americans and your big cons. XD
-
Never knew you lived in Canada, Strings. Huh, Weird.
-

Yep can't wait for Otakon next week. SUCKAAA!!!!!!!
-
Geez, you FINALLY post in this thread, and that's all you have to say? You could at least not be obnoxious =P
Actually, we DO have cons on college campuses around here. They just usually out grow them rather quickly - Otakon started out as such…but now its on its way to out growing the Baltimore convention center.
My new Water 7 Nami shirt is pretty much done! Tonight I'm going to a friend's house to take pictures. I'll see if I can post some stuff up later!

Yeah and sometimes, IMO, the smaller cons at college campuses can be just as fun, if not more. There is a convention (Anime Express) down here in FL at a university called Embry Riddle, and every year its great - its small and cozy and people can even stay over and sleep in the viewing rooms.
Can't wait to see the Water 7 shirt, Ginny!
I hope to get some pictures up soon of my Nami costume's pieces and my new costume that I've started- I made my Galley-La hat for a Kaku costume a few days ago.
-
Hey everyone! Just so you know, Cosplay Lab (www.cosplaylab.com) is running a Look alike contest for Sanji, Nami, Zoro and Luffy. A fun opportunity for One Piece cosplayers! I just took some pics for it tonight (and of my Water 7 costume's progress) Bah, I'm never happy with the way I look in pictures. But…eh. I'll post em whenever my friend gets them uploaded.
Irresistiblement - I agree! Just today madgopher/Monty and I were saying out of all the cons we've been to in the last year, the one we had the most fun at was Anime USA, a really really small convention. But what it lacked in its dealers room it made up for in fansubs and panels.
Best of luck to you on your Nami and Kaku costumes! Bout time Kaku got some cosplay lurvin'.
-
I entered that contest too. XD I hate my pictures though. Argh.
-
Hmm.. sounds like it'll be fun. I think I'll enter..
-
Thats BS. Luffy, Zoro, Nami, and Sanji. What about Usopp!? I swear, he gets no love.
-
Yeah, Usopp gets no love >.
-
I know, the lack of Usopp is the dumbest thing ever. x_x.
-
Well, I just got back from the local anime con from the past 2 days, Ai-kon. I saw two members from this very forum and decided to have a photo op, made from one piece characters. I've got some photo's of my costume and the group picture
Well, Myself as Sanji, July The pirate as, well…July the pirate from Guilty gear X, and Saru-Tan as Buggy~
(We were going to get a picture with July as Luffy, but I wasn't there early enough, as I had to work. So he changed into July for the cosplay contest)
I'd have to say that my costume was alright, except the fact that my mother somewhat butchered the wig, as she cut it so that the right side was longer, and curled it into the way so that the hair was over my right side, and not the left. The outfit itself wasn't that hard to do, not a complex sewing thing or anything, but easy, For my first time ever cosplaying. Not the best sanji cosplay ever, but it was acceptable.
The only things I actually had to buy were the shirt and the tie, and I found the shoes, jacket and pants in my closet. Strange. But yeah, Those are some of my pictures from the anime con.
(P.S - I had to find a substitute for the cigarette, So I used pocky XD)
-
Akira, I like the Sanji costume… the pocky substitute is great! XD
-
mmm Thats one of the best Buggy Cosplayers I've ever seen. ^_^
-
Awesome <3 I'm loving the Buggy action too.
Finally dyed my hair, so…. there we go. Yay Kalifa.
