Let's just drop the nationalism aspect. It's not a domain where there's any chance to get on my good side.

I'd like to be seen as a world citizen, but for example when my country plays football I can't help myself to root for them even if they completely suck and the other team plays a lot better. If you understand what I mean.
Personaly i find it pretty damn beautiful how all the citizens, no matter if they're an immigrated swede via Nairobi or if they're born in country can just all get along when we're rallied under the flag and rooting for our boys.
-
A few points:
-I forgot to mention that I am also rooting against France. Awful handball by Henry.
-It will be interesting to see if Messi can carry Argentina. They did horribly in qualifying.
-Oh, and I'm glad to see we are all together on hating Portugal. -
Argentina have probably got the best upfront in the world atm but they've never really performed internationally, Messi in particular.
-
LOL hating Portugal because of Cristiano Ronaldo/Mourinho and for being sore loosers is a fucking shame, in Euro 2004 the best team were Schech Republic, Netherlands and Portugal. Greece won because they defended the whole game and got a goal we deserved it stop being sore loosers, i am not being a sore looser because we lost to Greece i accepted the lost even though we didnt deserve it, it must be bad to be crushed by a small country ehn guys?
Anyway ill be rooting for my country ofc wich is Portugal if we loose and i think we will fast since im not liking Queiroz work(he can go back to Man.United) ill be rooting for Brasil because its our brother country, Spain because they are our neighbor and Netherlands because i always liked them.
Im not rooting against anyone because thats retarded as fuck but some sore loosers are making me root against some teams, ofc i wont do that because thats not in my nature(read being a fucktard).
-
Speaking of which, what happened to the Czech Republic? They were one of the top teams and then they just kinda vanished
-
Didnt Portugal used to have this teeny tiny little goalie, that moved like he was lightning incarnite?
Whatever happend to him.

Ricardo? he wasnt little 185cms, well for people in central europe that must be little you guys are really tall.
If its him well he went to Spain to gain more money its seems and play in Betis thus disapeared plus hes 34, he disapeared completelly.
If its Quim hes also 184cm. well he plays in Benfica now but hes also 34 and it seems thats why Queiros didnt want to take him, he said said he wanted to take players to the present and to the future so he brought some younger keepers, one wich none knows who the hell he is in Portugal named Daniel Fernandes and people are a little pissed he didnt take Quim from Benfica or Rui Patricio from Sporting instead.
Anyway our Goalkeeper will be Eduardo from Braga most likelly.
-
Wow that tall huh, must be that my memory is playing tricks on me then. Cause i remembered him as being like 165 or something like that. But yeah after a quick google search it seems like it was Ricardo, that guy was just a marvel to watch.

-Oh, and I'm glad to see we are all together on hating Portugal.Charlize Theron made a cool joke during the rehearsel for the draw.
The last ball was France, but she said Ireland.Imo the most people aren't hating the portugal team, they are hating this dumbass CR.
Speaking of which, what happened to the Czech Republic? They were one of the top teams and then they just kinda vanished
Nedved is gone.
I'll be rooting for everybody that plays against Germany. As always!
Nice to see a fellow countryman, who dislikes the german team. This is really rare, i can't understand how so many fans from germany think this team plays good football. And the fact that Ballack is missing, is not good for us haters, cause now there is a failure less that could be replaced by a good player.
-
The rampant nationalism is the best part of the entire competion.
It's a nice change from that one global culture bull that's around nowadays.
3BN1jSpiyIM&feature=watch_response
Fuck yeah.
(If the US doesn't make it past the group stage, it'll be a massive disappointment.)
-
As usual team Finland is probably the most hilariously weak group of losers to ever've set foot on a football pitch, so I haven't really got anyone to root for or against. :getlost:
-
Argentina have probably got the best upfront in the world atm but they've never really performed internationally, Messi in particular.
In recent times they have been quite poor. But they have a strong squad… Messi, Tevez, Aguiaro to name a few. At the last World Cup in Germany they were looking the most likely to win it with their performances in the group stages.
Oh, and Spain have the best strikeforce in the competition. Torres and Villa are two great strikers. My boy Torres will be getting his name on the scoresheet once he recovers from his injury.
At the moment Brazil and Spain are the best two teams.
-
$abz, I'd be touting Argentina more if they didn't have an idiot as a head coach.
Same with France. How one doesn't invite Benzema to the WC roster is patently absurd.
-
Well i also think Argentina is going to do badly Maradona is not the coach for them he has no experience and goes to train the national team of of nowhere but well their loss i dont wish them bad but i think they will do pretty badly.
Good luck for Di Maria atleast and yeah i still want to see Messi being usefull outside of Barcelona hes an awesome player but he just doesnt deliver when it comes to the national team.

Wut wut wuuuuuut, Benzema won't go. Extra reason to root against France. Now I understand why everybody hates domenech.

You didn't see him just before his big breakthrough in Barcelona when he was playing for the -20 world cup in the netherlands in 2005, they won that tournament and Messi was the big surprise of that tournament, so yeah he delivers.
-
-
@$abZ:

Brazil are pretty weak defensively, teams like Italy could probably beat them by competently handling the ball and waiting for a opening. Spain are definitey the best team right now but I'd say Messi is still the best player (in terms of club football).
-
I'll be rooting for everybody that plays against Germany. As always!
why the hate? ;_;
-
Ivotas… I picture you throwing chairs at 'dem fans :D
-
-
at least you care a bit now about soccer when you will cheer the team who plays against germany,Ivotas
-
I can't wait for us to beat Japan and make all the weeaboos cry.
-
I'll be rooting against Portugal also, unless we get to beat them again, for the 4th time.
It's not just losing to Greece 3 times, it's also the England game, which is blatant bastardry and why CR will never carry his national team to a title.Anyway.. Argentina.. soooo many stars, such a shitty coach, and I dunno.. Messi or no Messi, I can't see them doing much. But god-damn, I'd trade my entire team for a di maria, Aguero, Messi etc.
I hope Sebastian Blanco gets to play, that boy will be huge if he ever comes to Europe.
-
So do wait, do we all agree on rooting against Portugal here?
@Don:
at least you care a bit now about soccer when you will cheer the team who plays against germany,Ivotas
I probably cared about football long before you did. ;P
-
If we're lucky Portugal won't even pass the group matches.
-
I probably cared about football long before you did. ;P
last time we talked you said you would only like soccer because than you have the ladys all for yourself while the other guys are watching the game..
that is how you care for it..
that means that you maybe started to like "soccer" when you were about 13-15 years old…
means that it`s rly close who cared first between the two of us -
If we're lucky Portugal won't even pass the group matches.
Yeah, but does everybody root against Portugal or is there somebody supporting it in here?
@Don:
last time we talked you said you would only like soccer because than you have the ladys all for yourself while the other guys are watching the game..
And where does what I said above disagree with any of that? I said I cared for it long ago, not that I still care for it as I did once.
that is how you care for it..
that means that you maybe started to like "soccer" when you were about 13-15 years old…
means that it`s rly close who cared first between the two of usWrong, I kinda cared for football since I was about 2 years old. Don't even know where you randomly picked up the 13-15 years from.
-
The only thing we can all agree with is that South Africa should win the thang!
Nobody cares about Portugal. -
Wrong, I kinda cared for football since I was about 2 years old. Don't even know where you randomly picked up the 13-15 years from.
i picked that random number cause there you maybe started to care for girls..
don`t know maybe you started with 10also i didn`t know that you WERE a fan once a long time ago…
-

Nobody cares about Portugal.Good, then it makes me quite happy that I'm the only one in here who actually likes both Portugal AND Christiano Ronaldo. Of course they won't win but hey, it's not like that matters.

Lol, your weird fanatism coming up again? This forum ain't no country you're living in and it will never be!

No, I actually always liked Portugal and I'm a big fan of Christiano Ronaldo, especially because of this ridiculous "he's so arrogant" hating. The vast majority of football players are arrogant pricks. Of course I didn't meet all of them in person. But I met quite enough of them for being the random nobody that I am, and lots of the small regional unknown players are also arrogant like hell. Christiano Ronaldo at least is one of the best players of the world. He at least delivers something if you compare him to all those jerks that act is if that people even know about them outside of a 50km radius of their club.
-
I thought that only ladies like ronaldo :ninja:
-
He's good, but you can't say that pictures like this don't make you hate him just a little bit:

[hide][/hide] -
How could you hate the second one? He's wearing a Man Utd shirt and that makes him awesome. Plus it just made me lol not hate :)
-
Well if you're looking for Einsteins in the world football top leagues…

There is the question why soccer players can even afford to become arrogant when they ain't got no talents other than kickin' the ball… Lothar Matthäus would have been a hobo if it weren't for the money they threw at him.
I liked fat Ronaldo, cause he knew how to save energy while standing offside...
-

[hide]http://images.teamtalk.com/08/04/800x600/13_Cristiano_Ronaldo_Manchester_United_Premie_822314.jpg[/hide]Nope, why should they? Actually stuff like that makes me even appreciate him more because it gives me a good laugh when I see that people can have a gripe with something like that.

Perhaps because no matter how true it is that they got no other talents, they are surrounded by thousands of bootlickers that give them the impression that they are stars or even gods. How are random morons (which the vast majority of them sadly is because they never focused much on education thanks to placing everything on working on their talent in sports) supposed to cope with an environment like this without getting abnormally arrogant?
I often hear people say "they are starts, they stay in the spotlight, they should know how to behave!" but where should they have learned that? They are athletes. They don't go through etiquette education in their young age. They are random nobodies until their late teens and then if they are good they can become stars very quick. They are only regular humans after all. It's not easy to cope with all out of nowhere as if it is a routine you've been going through for your entire life.
But of course the entire Currywurst-Experts in the Stadiums which are even bigger morons think they know everything better and believe that it is very easy to do this "job" without getting totally fucked up mentally. As if they would do better if put in the same situations.

Yeah, but does everybody root against Portugal or is there somebody supporting it in here?
Well there's GetsugaZoro, but since he IS portuguese maybe that doesnt count.
-
I don't hate CR, he is just a worthless player, Man U bought him for his name, and people dare to compare him to Zidane, Ronaldino and maradona; That's a joke - He's an ok player but nothing special.
-
How could you hate the second one? He's wearing a Man Utd shirt and that makes him awesome.
That's a very good reason to hate him.
Prediction: It will be an England vs Spain final and Spain will win.

It's true that their environment puts them on the highest pedestal one could ever climb upon and when people experience such appreciation and influence on others, they start to lose their head and see themselves as exactly what people claim them to be, but i think that is only if they want this to happen. It's not only a problem of too much training, too little education or too little "honest labour", the issue is that your characteristics have to fit into the frame in order to paint the whole arrogant picture and what also favours that attitude is the payment which is too friggin high to stay on earthly foothold.
I personally have never experienced a situation where i couldn't decide upon my own arrogance level and even knowing i might never experience the same as they did (especially the upbringing) i can definitely claim that i'd be master of my arrogance. Also, if they would want to stop being seen as arrogant (of which they know, cause this is pure feed in interviews), there is always a way to learn such behavior even after entering the spotlight.
I didn't expect things to drive that far away from the original subject with my comment, but that's my opinion towards this aspect and our opinions will probably always differ, so it's pointless and time stealing to continue. -
England and Spain have nothing on Brazil.
-
More like Brazil has nothing on Spain.
-

I hate the guy as much as the next one, but he's up there with Messi. Easily one of the greatest players in football now.
-
Only reason I dislike "CR" is that he's milking the name of Ronaldo
-
His father gave him the name because of Ronald Reagen, not because of Ronaldo and its his name its not a nickname, plus i dont know what he does wrong for people to be pissed at him if he dives some times yeah like everyone Messi dives alot also and Cristiano doenst do it as much as he did before and saying he inst a great player is complete BS if its wasnt him Real Madrid wouldnt be fightning for the champioship till the last game and thats general concent even some players and his coach said it and yes Messi is better then him hes the best player in the world right now and he shows it every game, that doesnt make Ronaldo a bad player.
BTW why are a lot of you guys rooting for Japan ;O because of anime? lol
Then ill be rooting for them also, for the USA since i like MMA and UFC is my favourite show of MMA and its in the USA, for the French because i like Croissants, England because their taxis and buses are funny and i can give a reason to root for everyone else then…P.S. Dunno if you were jkg Shigan but i answered anyway the part about the name.
