Lovin' the golden/yellow vest. I hope it gets carried over to the anime.

Oda forgot the mark under Jimbei's eye =P
-
The black shorts and red shirt from Ennies Lobby will always be his coolest outfit :(
-
big cover[qimg]http://imagefruity.com/images/6kmg4s9zcn2eyo1tc44.jpg[/qimg]
Well Crocodile and Jinbei looks awesome (Pimpodile ;) ) but Luffy … yellow vest and red shorts doesn't work Oda!!!
-
those the name of the volume is arigato aka thank you?
and crocodile's black outfit is stand a happy moment for all the cosplays fans!!!
-
Wow, I was wrong..
But the title refers to Bentham, therefore not totally wrong. -
"The Great Escape" would've been a much more fitting title for this volume as a whole…I never like the chapter title Oda picks to be a volume title...at least I haven't for the past few releases. They never seem to represent the theme of the entire volume very well, but then again it's his story so he can do what he wants lol.
-
Somehow Luffy's fist in the air is cool for the cover, and somehow the part with Croc and Jimbei as guards works as well. The cover has grown…though the whole overwhelming aspect of Iva (yeah, he's important but not to take up so much space) hasn't.
Now Oda better make up for this with a huge cover spread of Whitebeard and all his commanders on the next one. (and Luffy...somewhere or another)
-
This article mentions the 2.85 million copies that are being printed for this volume along with a "treasure coins" giveaway featuring the the entire crew.
-
What chapter does this end on?
-
Vol 55 only have 9 chapter, so maybe this one will also have 9 chapter. I'm guessing it will end at Chapter 550 where Sengoku announced Ace is Gol D. Roger's son just to provide a major cliffhanger/shocks to the readers/tanko followers.
-
Croc's grey pants looks wrong.
-
I like the purple. It goes nicely with Ivankovs hair. The cover makes me think of the Alabasta arc..
-
@123:
Croc's grey pants looks wrong.
yeah they should have been black as well! but i guess you can't be too picky regarding clothes you .. somehow .. managed to find in hell aka impel down .. during your escape .. haha
-
What chapter does this end on?
In chapter 551, it contains 10 chapters:

-
Real good cliffhanger!
-
That's one awful cover.
Composition is quite bad.
Though, I guess, Crocodile, Jimbei and Luffy look good nonetheless. -
The composition isn't the best but it makes sense (it would have been impossible to see Inazuma and Mr. 1 if they were on the ground with the other three)
-
It is all Ivankov's fault. His head is way too fat.
Perhaps Oda should have gone for minimalism and left Inazuma and Daz out. Or even better, leave Ivankov out. Then everybody would be happy.
Or not. -

Erm, wouldn't that make 9 chapters?
-
nope its ten chaps. Picking this up next week.
-

Volume 55 only have 9 chapter (it ends at Chapter 541).
-
@-wahn-:
Volume 55 only have 9 chapter (it ends at Chapter 541).
For real? Why did everybody in use chapter 543 as the first in this volume?
-
Vol. 55 ends with 541 indeed :P
I can scan you the introduction if you don't belive it. -
Hey, I have no problems believing it. I'm just confused as to why everybody on the first page of this thread had chapter 543 as first chapter then without anybody saying that it should start with chapter 542. Did nobody care for the
chilrdenproper numbers? -

-
Yeah, when I got the tanko (Vol 55) I was also quite surprise to see there's only 9 chapters in that vol. Now that we know Vol 56 will have 10 chapter and will end at Chapter 551, I guess Oda did that 9 chapter thing on Vol 56 on purpose?
He probably wants to end Vol 56 with major cliffhanger (WB grand entrance) to set up for the next volume (Vol 57). After all, he is known to do this sort of stuff before. I remember he told the company (or was it his editor?) to specifically includes 11 chapters on Vol 26 because he wants to end Alabasta arc with Chapter 216. He said it'd gives more satisfying impact to the tanko readers if the tanko ends on that particular chapter. Same thing with Vol 56 I guess? People, especially tanko followers would be excited for the next vol when they see WB shows up at the Marineford.

Reason #535387 it would be nice to start Volume Speculation threads after the release of the previous volume.
-
not sure if this is the right thread to post
but here's one SBS page from volume 56one reader asked Oda what happens when the SH meet Iva..

By Heiji-sama, thank you for respecting the instruction of the first page.

Wow, Luffy as a girl! I think alot of people have been waiting for that xD
-

I thought that happened already…
-
That Robin…...
-
It never happened for real, though did it? Wasn't it a fake spoiler? Anyway I let the pic load all the way now (My PC is sloooow). Usopp sort of reminds me of Miss Double finger as Paula.. And Nami looks a bit like Luffy, whereas Luffy looks a bit like Nami xD. Sanji looks high or very spacey. Franky looks like a little girl xD. Robin..wow, lmao. She looks hilarious. Zoro..meh, I don't like girls with short hair like that >_>. Just my taste, though.. And Brook seems to be genderless xD. Oh and Chopper looks only a bit different. His ears are under his hat instead of on it..
-

Yeah, I hoped the wink conveyed that, but these smilies are incredibly creepy.
-
lol, ok, I thought maybe in a special or something. xD. But actually we have seen him as a woman before haven't we? It was in one of those three paged things in Yellow xD
-
I think we can finish the long-lasting discussions about what nationality the Straw Hats have/would have if they were real. A reader asked Oda the same question.
Luffy: Brazil
Zoro: Japan
Nami: Sweden
Usopp: Africa (I don't know why he hasn't a specific country)
Sanji: France
Robin: Russia
Chopper: Canada
Franky: America (meaning USA)
Brook: Austria -
Volume seems to have some nice extras. I hope someone translates the SBS - there are questions about Saldeath and Ivankov. Might turn out to be interesting.
And, once again, congratulations to CCC - you slowly but surely become a full-time crewmember of the Usopp Gallery Pirates:And what do you know, Tobi Tank is awesome, but Soge Tank is much more awesome:
P.S. And a big Fuu!~Yay! for Robin being Russian and Usopp being African.

Brook: Austrialol, Choppers Canadian? xD. I don't know why, but somehow I find that funny. I don't really understand Luffy being from Brazil. Is there a character trait of his that is like something from Brazil or so?
I think Brook should've been british, though o.O -
Brook's reaction to the gender-swapping was hilarious - even though I don't understand Japanese, I didn't need to in order to get the joke. Also, the Sogeking tank is awesome.
-
That is the greatest thing ever.
Why isn't there such an Award Nomination? 'Cause this is it.
-

I think Brook should've been british, though o.OBrasilians are looked from the exterior to be playfull and energetic.
I don't understand why ussop would be african, he's practicaly latin american, as a latin american myself. Ussop is suposed to represent "normal people" so most non stereotypes could se themselves in him.
Agree on british Brooke (subdued yohohoho)
-

I think Brazil eats more meat per capita than any other nation.
Nami should really be Irish. Pretty much all of her character traits fit.
-
I can see where the Austrian is coming from. Ludwig von Beethoven lived in Vienna, didn't he? Chopper being Canadian wasn't much of a surprise, eh. Not much of a choice when it came to reindeer. Though, Russia and Sweden? I can't quite wrap my head around that. Must be ethnic stereotyping or something that's messing with me…
-
Ah, thanks I didn't know those things.

Well, here in Denmark (and in much of Europe as far as I know), Swedish chicks are said to be especially hot, and Nami is essentially the sex symbol of One Piece so it might be the reason. :P
However, a Swedish stereotype girl is usually blonde so I don't know why Nami is a redhead then. Guess it's because no country hasn't really been linked with redheads. -

Can I call you Dr Urouge, because that is one of the more interesting random facts of info I have ever heard of.
I think it's because he looks like Kaka.

Brush up on your stereotypes:
They're also known as fighters (short tempered)
