I watched the opening agian. Everything after the bird scene was okay. The beginning was just so gay.
426: ''Movie Special - Gold Lion's Plans Go Forward''

That was surprisingly great! I was kind of disapointed when I found out that we would have ''fillers'' for 4 weeks but now I can't wait to see what will happen next!
As for the opening, I like (please don't shoot me) The song may be a little unfitting but perharps we'll get used to it. -
The only people that like the opening song are those who don't realize what kind of shit songs EXACTLY LIKE THAT are typically used for over here.
Goddamn how can I draw a comparison.
It's essentially like they added the 4Kids rap to the series.
That's the equivalent of that style song here like it or not.

What a stupid reason to dislike something.

hey now, i quite like the beginning. how is it "gay" when it's just the Strawhats having fun?
-
Well, admittably, the lyrics at the end about a waiting lover coupled with the image of Luffy falling towards Ace would probably set off quite a few peoples' gaydars.
-
So, I don't think this was cleared up yet:
The opening song is Kaze wo Sagashite by Hexagon Family. -
Am I the only one who misses outros? Like, endings? I really liked watching them at the end of the episodes..
I liked the episode, then again, I was just so relieved to see the crew together.

i have no probs with Ace x Luffy
-

I dislike it because it's a shitty song. The question I pose to you is, have you ever ragged on 4Kids for making One Piece seem childish?
Am I the only one who misses outros?
Hell no. I LOVED the endings.
By the way, regarding this escape from ID, I'm wondering if that wasn't included in the Japanese broadcast. Is it included on the raw download?

-

Like I said. Too happy. Even by OP's standards.
-
Ha, I kinda wish Toei would've lifted that fan made one you made a thread about even though it was just an OP version of the YYH opening that used that song.
ANYTHING would have been better. a damn popsicle stick-styled one like the parappa anime opening would have been better!

Like I said. Too happy. Even by OP's standards.
If anything, it's "fruity."
This opening had good visuals in the second half, but I'll echo everything that Greg said. It doesn't fit the show and it certainly doesn't fit the current War Saga. In fact, to quote Emeril, this intro really brought it down a notch (BAM!). It was really a disappointing surprise. I go into it further on the podcast, but I'll say here two quick things:
(1) I hope this doesn't last as long as the scope of the introduction lasted. Even if this intro lasts 14 episodes, as Greg has said, that's still four to five months of this shit. Someone needs to: cut this intro in half, fuck the first half, and put a cool song over the second half. I'd be happy with that. I would just play that version of the intro every time I watch an episode of the anime after episode 425, and all will be good with the world.
(2) This introduction does not do this arc (or saga) justice, it does quite the opposite. For some time I have been saying: I can't wait for the anime episodes of Impel Down, I can't wait for the future arcs to be animated. Well talk about getting let down, I didn't picture it being animated to a bunch of fruity music. Now when I say fruity, I don't mean gay, I mean fruity as in WAY too happy. Gay in the original sense, so to speak. And the end is actually incestuously homosexual, so that's a problem too.
And finally….my first reaction, as said earlier, was:
!
Listen to the podcast if you need to hear some more venting. I'm done for now.
-
The question I pose to you is, have you ever ragged on 4Kids for making One Piece seem childish?
No lol, I couldn't care less about a shitty dubbing company from a country I don't even live in. What's your point.
-
@Zach:
And the end is actually incestuously homosexual, so that's a problem too.
Lmao. I'm surprised the LuAce shippers aren't more happy about that. Or maybe they're just being quiet.
-
the opening is good and aceptable, more than what i asked for, the best openings would always be "brand new world" and the one before that.
-
Am I the only one who misses outros? Like, endings? I really liked watching them at the end of the episodes..
I liked the episode, then again, I was just so relieved to see the crew together.
It does that to me too, since a while now the episode just ends with a 3 second black screen and some words. You have to look up the next episodes preview, if you want to see the part they always chop off. :/
-
No lol, I couldn't care less about a shitty dubbing company from a country I don't even live in. What's your point.
I think you just proved his point.
-
Lol chapter 426
Sanji is talking

"that beetle breaths fire" -
@Zach:
I think you just proved his point.
Having never watched 4kids, I think that's impossible.
-
Having never watched 4kids, I think that's impossible.
Calling 4kids a shitty dubbing company kind of does.
-
By the way, regarding this escape from ID, I'm wondering if that wasn't included in the Japanese broadcast. Is it included on the raw download?
It was included in the Japanese broadcast. Well, I watched the episode on KeyHole TV, which, I belive, shows it the same way as it was broadcasted, and the scene was there.
@lelandlancaster:Lmao. I'm surprised the LuAce shippers aren't more happy about that. Or maybe they're just being quiet.
I have few friends who are shippers, and they are actually pissed at that XDD Oh, the fangirl minds~
-
Calling 4kids a shitty dubbing company kind of does.
It doesn't, same way calling this opening song terrible (which it is) doesn't mean I give a shit that "Toei made One Piece seem childish to people" and will bash them like an idiot for such a dumb reason.
-
So how did shiki actually escape by cutting off his legs?
Were only his legs chained up? If so, why? And how did he get out of his cell after that too?(Trying to sway the conversation towards actual episode content rather than 'the opening song is crap' posts)
-
Greg said it best here:
As described by a Japanese poster:
一体どうしたの?このヒドイ曲。
What the hell? This song is miserable.教育テレビで使われてるような歌詞にリズム
ワンピースのオープニングにこの曲が選曲されたのか不思議でたま らない。
It's driving me nuts how this song could possibly be chosen as a One Piece opening with its children's educational programming rythm.こんな曲を選曲したフジテレビ関係者に失望です。
I am completely disappointed with whomever was associated with this decision at Fuji Television.あまりのヒドさに誰の曲なのか気になって調べたらヘキサゴンメン バーの曲だったのね。
Amazed by its level of terribleness, I checked out who was responsible and it turns out it's those Hexagon people huh?島田さんの多大なる影響力の怖さを知った気がする。
I think I've finally realized what terrifying influence Shimada-san holds. Now, I'm not one to shit all over an opinion.
But there's obviously something missing here.
Knowledge.
Before I stepped foot in Japan I thought Morning Musume and Two-Mix were the shit. Seeing as how they were featured in Japanese cartoons (which of course ALL Japanese people like by virtue of them being Japanese right?) I figured everyone would love Morning Musume songs and know who Two-Mix was.
haha
Stupid Greg.
As it turns out, despite their initial popularity, Morning Musume became an otaku-driven machine and no one knows who the fuck Two-Mix is because no one besides otaku give a shit about what voice actor sings what song or how many series they've done.
That is to say, I liked what I thought was an image. When I learned that nobody really listened to that stuff besides men who never marry and visit maid cafes ritualistically, I came to realize what image I was associating myself with was that of a
LOSER
Now, it's important to like what you like, because YOU enjoy it. We all have guilty pleasures. I still enjoy listening to early Morning Musume and Two-Mix. But I don't go praising it like some amazing testament to Japanese superiority. By living here, over time you come to see what certain kinds of popular culture go together and this is one of those cases.
As the above poster suggested, the chorus and lyrics associated with this song are almost exclusively used in children's educational programming. We're talking the equivalent of Sesame Street. And if we're talking anime, it's on the same level as Nintama Rintaro which is for pre-schoolers on the educational programming segment of NHK's afternoon line-up.
mW598SPh0W0
It's essentially like you saying the theme song to Sesame Street makes a bitchin' anime OP.
So while it's fine whether you like the song or not, simply realize that what you enjoy, is something that over here, is associated with something entirely different and is a disgrace to the series, especially at this point.
-
No lol, I couldn't care less about a shitty dubbing company from a country I don't even live in.
Regardless of whether you've seen it or not, you just totally proved my point. Thanks for being predictable.
If you've never said a bad thing about 4Kids and their work which they're infamous for making the series childish, then you're not being a complete hypocrite. But if you've ever said a nasty thing about 4Kids and praise this opening which does the exact same thing, there's some serious denial problems going on which I have a sneaking suspicion might just be because, "It's Japanese and therefore awesome."
But I can't prove that, nor does it matter.
I will pick up the pieces and move on with my life….somehow. Enough time has been wasted on this otherwise boring topic.
And if you genuinely think it's a good song, there's absolutey nothing wrong with that and no amount of my trying to impose standards the series holds in its home country should affect you. But I do think just accepting whatever they shoot out is dangerous.
-
So how did shiki actually escape by cutting off his legs?
Were only his legs chained up? If so, why? And how did he get out of his cell after that too?(Trying to sway the conversation towards actual episode content rather than 'the opening song is crap' posts)
Well, in the opening the door/gate on his prison cell is open. Shiki from the looks of the blood trail crawled over to it and somehow opened the door.
Picked the lock maybe? Then… speculation, burnt his legs to stop the bleeding and shoved swords into the stumps. xD
Then he flew out of the prison since I guess he can fly. I only wish the name Shiki wasn't picked because to me Shiki refers to a guy and a girl with MeoDP. :/

@Al!naJames:
I have few friends who are shippers, and they are actually pissed at that XDD Oh, the fangirl minds~
Really? Why? XD
Wait. Does it have anything to do with putting Ace in more of a damsel-in-distress position? Making him the "lady" instead of Luffy? Because Luffy as some sort of terrifying uke is what I see more of (actually maybe all of) with that ship.
-
How should I know? XD Fangirl minds are the most confusing things in the world! If I were a shipper, I'd be happy at that XD In fact I am happy at that, it's so WTF it makes it amusing XD Like, PURE CRACK. I don't think One Piece can get any more gayer then it already is, actually, after all Newkama land stuff.
-
@Ao:
from the best one piece opening theme in years to the WORST?
what were they thinking?Wait people liked Share the world? I'm pretty sure everyone hated the song at first. I still hate it and this new one is STILL better than crazy rainbow so i dont care.

Heh, there's always the handy search function to prove me a hypocrite. Don't get me wrong, I hate the song because it's unfitting as hell. I don't really think it's a bad song, the singer is really talented, it's just extremely gay and should be put on something like Hamtaro. Don't need to know what other things it's used for and what the holy Japanese people think about it to form an opinion on it.
-
Greg said it good - that opening is for little kids. Or for preteen girls. The very first sentence that came to my mind when I heard that song was Card Captor Sakura. What is the chorus "kimi ga matteru" doing in the opening to a shounen action series?
What the hell has OP become.
edit - The previous opening starting with the sound from a baby's wind up toy must have been the prelude to this.
-
Thanks Al!na! I'll check it out later! Despite the intro raping my ears, the episode, the parts I saw at least, were pretty damn good for filler.
The absurd DeM that usually run rampant in filler as an excuse for 'motivation' were kept to a minimum in this episode and, as far as I could tell, were all in character.

Search function? Why would I need to do that? You already did it in this thread. Dude, you're done. Move along.

Haha so true :D
! As much as a shipper and fangirl i am, it was a sadistic pleasure to watch my kinda homophobic friend literally crying blood while reading that part. I so wanted to make him watch Rocky Horror Picture Show (for Iva-chan) but i guess he was at his limit already.
Can't wait to get there in the anime!Lol I should have known. XD And yeah it is delicious delicious crack. 8D
Oh yes, yes it is <3
-
You're right. When I think about Hell and
! war this is exactly the kind of music that comes to mind.
Actually it fits perfectly. It's just like being in hell.
You know? I'm willing to agree. There is no law that it must fit the arc. But 80% of the time, the music, even when it was bad, fit the images on the screen or was at least appropriate.
I mean, maybe you can agree with the first half, even though it's fruity, but when you get to the second half and the images of blood and battle and fucking WB, especially when you understand the lyrics, it's just fucking hilarious.
It's so bad, I can't take it seriously yet.
Well, but u have to admit that this song would be GREAT as an ending.
-
I'm not that desperate for an ending if it's anything like that.
-
I guess in my case it's good to be ignorant, as I'm no expert on Japanese music and cannot understand the lyrics without consulting a translation. That said, the childishness is definitely not lost on me, but I actually do kinda like the actual music as it speeds up in the later parts with Marineford, just seems fitting there somehow, especially the part with everyone falling from the sky, despite the rather unintentionally gay lyrics.
I probably wouldn't be so forgiving it all the footage wasn't two and a half minutes of Toei going ''Look how much money we have!'' though.
-
It would be a cute ending. I could see it fitting the chibified crew one.
Endings have traditionally been a way to have 'fun' with a series and I think that would be pretty funny.
-
Well, I had planned this since I saw the opening and it came out pretty well despite how fast I did it.
MKCE-aEPrvU
-
That worked better than the actual song. …which is kinda sad. Oh well, well done! Looks nice.
-
^ Well, thank you very much. ^_^
As for the anime itself, I can't wait to see how the rest of this filler turns out…it seems quite promising and is already hyping me up a bit more for Movie 10. XD
-

I agree. It could have been my favorite ending if it were so.

Wow, the actions and rythm fit suprisingly well. Good work ^^

Whoa, that fits almost perfectly. They should just make this the opening.
-
So, like many a soul contributing here, I did not like the music choice for the opening. Gorgeous art and animation, but when I first saw it on YT, I thought 'wow- did they rip it without audio and just… add their own track?'
So, I did that. Lololol.
http://www.megavideo.com/?d=UU2F9MNC
Not so much better, as it is a little more exciting. And bonus, it has nothing to do with pirate friendships! Or maybe it does, I don't know. In any case, the third opening for Katekyo Hitman Reborn. A show I don't actually watch…
It really synchs pretty well, I think.
Edit: And somebody did it with the sixth OP too! Yowza, unpopular muzak makes AMV enemies
-
demokicksanji, you are awesome. The lyrics even match pretty damn well which…makes the reality we are currently faced with even more sinful.
