Need… moar... fingers...
-
We really needs a new spoiler… this goes behind crazy.
-
Looks like this one is almost dead. Thank God, for the new spoilers which'll probably be out later tonight or tomorrow. Its driving me mad with excitemen…as sad as it sounds new OP chapters are the high point of my week.

First spoiler mentioned at MH by jeffrey91 (fake?):

you are as good as DEAD!!!
delete this spoiler now if you don´t wanted to be banned! -
I would recommend that you remove the spoiler since it is against the rules, but saying that it does seem plausible. Although, it does jump around featuring a cameo from every big time character introduced thus far.

Uh, no they weren't.
Ace: Yes, it's my pride and joy…
"Whitebeard" is the greatest pirate I've ever known.
I want to make him the pirate king... not you, Luffy...!!The way Ace says that makes me think he did, at one time, want Luffy to become Pirate King.
Titles like that can't be "given away" along with the fact that getting One Piece=Pirate King and vice-versa, they're synonymous with one another.
You can't have found One Piece and not be Pirate King.
Says who? Unless Rayleigh or Roger (little late) say that, it's not a valid statement. If you kill the King and pick up his crown, does that automatically make you a King?
-
Depends on the kingdom. :p
-
This is an example;
If Zoro finds and picks up One Piece (assuming it's something tangible) and gives it to Luffy from the debate above who is Pirate King?
In my view it's whoever is holding/in possession of it at the time, for the few minutes Zoro was holding it he was the Pirate King.

I'd love to hear where you see that implied in the passage you provided. :wassat:
-
He would have just said this
Ace: Yes, it's my pride and joy…
"Whitebeard" is the greatest pirate I've ever known.
I want to make him the pirate king...Why add
not you, Luffy…!!
If not to clear any of Luffy's misunderstandings?
I kind of see how you could argue this point but there is no proof either way without more facts.
Anyway, for the lolz made me laugh but I personally believe he's part of Teaches crew now. Set up a long time ago before Teach left WB's crew. So, just a set up, a plan that worked out. BB makes plans he's not random even if he doesn't really care to fully think them out.
-
The reason for adding "not you, Luffy…" is probably due to the fact that both Luffy and Ace set out to sea to become Pirate King. Hence why Ace went after WB. So Ace knows Luffy wants to become PK, so he made that direct statement to Luffy saying "not you, Luffy"
The implication isn't that Ace once wanted Luffy to become PK.
-
That sounds perfectly reasonable to me. I have no problem with that explanation.
Sorry, I know agreeableness makes for a dull debate but I wasn't really on either side of this fence to start with. xD

Considering how much Ace loathes his father, the Original Pirate King, I seriously doubt he ever wanted to become it.
-
Did Ace know know who his father was from the start? Or did figure it out somewhere along the way?
If he knew from the start, I have my doubts now. :/
It's possible he could have said that as a way of saying he didn't want to join Luffy's crew, maybe but I doubt since he's about to be killed. Hmmm, I confusing myself now :/

Chapter 159 :
@stephen's:

Sanji: YOU TOO!!!
Usopp: You idiot!! Our precious water!!
Nami: BROTHER?!
Zoro: That guy back there… was your brother?!
Luffy: Yup, he's my brother.
Zoro: Well, I'm not surprised you have a brother.
But why is he HERE in the Grand Line?Luffy: He's a pirate.
He's looking for the One Piece.
Ace is 3 years older than me. So he left the island 3 years earlier.Sanji: What are the odds of the both of you eating Devil Fruit...?
Luffy: I know, I was surprised too! Hahaha
Usopp: Huh?
This was a couple pages before the lines you quoted.

Finding the One Piece = automatically becoming Pirate King?
-
Yes, because getting it means you got to Raftel. Which is what Roger did that got people calling him the Pirate King.
-
HeeHee, back to the same argument as before. Funny. ^^;
I think Raftel only tells where One piece is and is not actually on Raftel.
-
Yes, because getting it means you got to Raftel. Which is what Roger did that got people calling him the Pirate King.
But what if you're a Marine?
-
What about the way that Roger became Pirate King? I assume he has that title for the same reason that Mihawk has his own title, for strength and infamy.

Holy Edit Batman. Anyways unless it's some sort of magical island where only pirates can enter, couldn't someone of any profession get there and get a title? Marine King? Archeologist King? Doctor King?
-

He got the title for being the captain of the only crew who made it to Raftel and conquered the Grand Line.
If strength and infamy were all it took then Newgate would have had the title, obviously that isn't the case.
-
Since this isn't a theories thread I keep this short.
I think on Raftel is a pyonogyph(spelled wrong) that tells where One Piece is. That's why there is a stalemate. Since no can figure out the language.
I believe One piece is in that place on Albastria underground that Luffy Zoro and Chopper I think fell into. They never read that gylph.
-
That's filler so…
-
-
In what episode was a reference to Raftel? Name doesn't ring a bell.

Crocus: With no other means to accurately determine one's position,
the Log Pose's magnetic pointer is the only means of direction.
There are seven lines extending from this mountain to choose from at the start.
But no matter what island one chooses to begin from,
all the lines will converge and dwindle… into one.
And the last stop on the very last line is...
"RAFTEL."
The final point of the Grand Line.
In all of history, only the crew of the Pirate King has ever confirmed its existence.
It is an isle of legend.Episode 63

Thanks, I completely forgot about it.

I think in Japanese it must be less ambiguous because in the translation everyone will read it like "I want WB to be the PK instead of you Luffy", atleast in a first read. It is probably better if the emphasis is left on the last part that the "not you" refers to.
"I will put all my effort into helping him. Whitebeard will become PK.. not you, Luffy."

Chapter 159 :
This was a couple pages before the lines you quoted.
Maybe he wanted to get it for Luffy. We don't know. That's actually kind of ambiguous, either way. But like I said, getting One Piece is part of becoming Pirate King. It doesn't automatically make you said person. It's like the example I used: if you kill a king, and pick up his crown, it doesn't automatically make you king unless the people address you as such. Roger was the first to get to Raftel, yes, but he also amassed something extremely important to him, "One Piece". Be it mountains of gold or his favorite hat, it doesn't matter. He befriended people along the way, fought enemies, and helped his crewmates achieve their dreams. THAT is what made him Pirate King. Not sailing to an Island and boasting about it. If someone just sailed around the world and came back to brag about it without doing some amazing feats along the way, I'd just look at him and say, "So what? One Trick Pony. Do something else."
-
Anyways unless it's some sort of magical island where only pirates can enter, couldn't someone of any profession get there and get a title? Marine King? Archeologist King? Doctor King?
What if a king made his way there? A King King?
-
Btw this is what Roger actually said
Gold Roger: My treasure? If you want it, you can have it…
(grin...)
Just look for it! I've put everything in the world there. It's so vague, it makes no reference about the title of PK, how to become PK, or Raftel.. all that was added later by people.
-
All we know about Roger is that he became known as the "Pirate King" after he 'conquered the sea'. We can assume that means after he traveled all of the New World, but it could have more meaning behind that as well. We really don't know for sure yet, as we are just barely getting to meet and know the heavy hitters of the world.
-
Well, the vagueness of the words he said and how much interpretation people gave to it later, it's just one big plot twist waiting to happen imo. Luffy even seems to be aware of this. When Usopp wants to ask Rayleigh if OP is really on Raftel, Luffy says he doesn't want to know where it is, or if it even exists..
-
i know some ppl hate this question but where is the spoilers??
with the ending of the last chapter i would have guessed Sunday spoiler :p
-
I am betting on this prediction of "Squardo being an informer of BB"
-
Squardo's doing can be only mean one thing (even if it's Oda):
With the appearance of pacifistas Squardo does not see a chance anymore to win the battle. He heard from Sengoku about Jinbei quiting the shishibukai, so the only chance in his eyes for him and his crew to survive all this is to join forces with the marines and hopefully be given a shishi position.
-
@Fire Fist:
Maybe he wanted to get it for Luffy. We don't know. That's actually kind of ambiguous, either way.
I seriously doubt that Ace set sail to go make his brother (who by that time is still training back at home I might add) Pirate King while finding One Piece for him. It somehow destroys the entire purpose on setting sail and living a life with more freedom then anybody else if you don't achieve things on your own accord. Furthermore, the simple fact that Ace pretty much challenged Luffy to become a big boy at Arabasta ("can you make it Luffy?" or "see you at the top") pretty much pretty much confirms that Ace wants Luffy to achieve his goals on his own accord.
-
Some really crazy theories about Ace are floatong in this forum… Ace will join and Ace is pirate to make Luffy the king...
-

Maybe the old mistranslation "see you at the pirate summit" wasn't so far off anyway. They didn't meet again at the top. They met at the war, a summit of pirates. (ok, and marines.)
That being said, I'm curious what Ace's real goal was. Luffy said he went out to look for OP, but we never heard anything firsthand. Maybe just set out to be a great pirate, with great freedom, do what he wants, get stronger and beat people, and he was fine with that. (until he met WB) -
Ace theories make me need to take a dump
-
After reconsidering and asking myself the question "Would BB let someone following him kill WB in front of a world audience and steal the fame instead of doing it himself?" I came to the conclusion Squardo is doing this on his own for his own reasons. The post below changed my mind.
i @Rockin'Bookworm:

The words Squardo said didn't sound like treacherous ones but more like words of thanks but this is something I've been forced into doing. This plan was Sengoku. I rate it higher then BB's plan.
-
I predict spoiler in 1 hour… But I have assumed that we would have got it yesterday.
-
@kishido wouldn't that belong in the dumb prediction thread? And even there wouldn't it be completely off topic?
-

Considering that this is a war of the world powers it pretty much is a reunion at the top.
-
Where do you check to find these spoilers?
-
2ch. But it's a world of idiocy over there sometimes. I.E. right now.
-
Considering that this is a war of the world powers it pretty much is a reunion at the top.
Well the implication was 'when we both have reached the top', but currently for Ace it would have been more accurate to have said "let's meet again when I hit rock bottom."
-
i'd like to hear some of those confirmed fake spoilers…
