mashima needs to work on keeping his arcs fun to read… The last 3 have all started out good but have made me groan towards the end. It keeps on going to a good conclusion then tossing some twist about the bad guy thus extending the arc (The council guy and the main villain are the same person, Luxus is a dragon slayer, Brain has a second personality). I won't say that they're out of nowhere, some are pretty obvious actually. But I don't think any of the 3 were that cool. Hope tthe next arc can stay good.

Episode 3
- The pace is still going at a mile a minute, (4 chapters in here, I think) but it didn't feel very rushed at all. The scene where Kaby was debriefing the gang seemed to go by very quickly, but otherwise I can't recall anything that was skipped (Other than the flashback where the Vanish Bros. own the Wizard with the bone-breaking spell.).
- Natsu's fight with the Vanish Bros. was over in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, it makes these guys seem even less significant than they already were in the manga, considering they weren't on screen for ten minutes. On the other hand, it was a "realistic" fight in terms of speed. No stalling or moments where the fighters can safely stand and explain anything- if anything is said, it's while they're moving. It really felt like both sides were going all out in order to win, instead of having some dull honor duel.
- There's still no atmosphere in town, which is probably my biggest peeve. The animation is alright in fights, but when the group walks through town, every person is a part of the background, frozen in place. Maybe everyone will swap to a different pose, simultaneously, after a minute. The town settings don't feel alive, and I can't say I feel like people actually live in this world.
- They didn't trim this arc into a single episode like I expected. Glad to see that.
- The anime has done at least one thing right; They added a quick blurb about the difference between Holder and Ability magic. Mashima decided to leave that explanation to omake stuff and bonus chapters, which really bugged me.
Overall, I actually really enjoyed this episode. The joke kind of worked, but it felt a lot more comfortable than the last two. I'm actually rather excited for next week's episode; a complete 180 from how I felt last week.
Chapter 157
- Some LucyxGerard shit. Meh. Amnesia. Mystogan. Whatever. I don't really care about this plotline at all.
- Nirvana is kind of cool. I'm kind of wondering just how strong its laser is, though. In comparison to the blast Phantom MKII used, and the council's magical nuke.
- Looking back, Mashima isn't the most original when it comes to super weapons. This is what… The third or the fourth giant magical energy cannon? What makes this one so much more terrifying?
- The magic airship! Awww Shit. Magic Pegasus Airship. Awww, Shit. Fuck yeah. I've loved that thing since it first showed up. I'm glad to see it finally gets to-
- It's done.
- Hibiki is still pretty awesome with his all-purpose magical Internet. I actually rather like the whole plan he's whipped up. It's nice to see that they actually have to do something to take Nirvana down, instead of just beating all the bad guys. Feels more like early Fairy Tail.
- So who gets Zero? Natsu? Gerard? Natsu got his ass handed to him several minutes ago, but when has that ever stopped him? The six-way split up seems to imply that it's going to be a one-on-one fight this time.
- The last page was pretty swell. Yeah, it's a very standard, generic shonen moment, but Fairy Tail IS completely standard shonen. I'm sure we all know that by now, which is why we can enjoy these generic, but well-done, moments.
Good chapter. It's good to see everyone is happy, and is already in the, "Hope the next arc is better," phase that comes half-way through every arc since Phantom Lord. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm still enjoying this arc for what it is.

Those type of pages are the kind that can never get generic or cliche. They're timeless classics. They're a stable of shonen that never fail to get the blood pumping just due to how cool they look regardless of the series's quality. It's like that Vaizard spread of Bleach. I believe the series sucks ass and even I read that chapter twice because of how cool that spread was.

Luxus only gained like 3 chapters more, Gerard did extended his ark like 2 months, and of those the one that I didn't like was Gerard's, I'm enyoing this one right now. I have the feeling that Wendy will reseal Zero.

A shame Makarov hasn't shown his face in this arc since introducing the Alliance. If he were to show up now, that would be a bit of an ass-pull. Or deus ex machina. Or a cop-out. Or a killer fight that really had no right to exist, but makes up for it in sheer intensity.
I'd like to see that fight, but if he were to show up and snipe the final boss after everyone did all the work getting to this point, it'd be a little frustrating.

the anime is alright not bad but not good either.
The fairy tail arcs that I don't like are: everlue mansion and Tower of Paradise (after a re-read it's alright but still sucks)
I think i'm one of the few people who could openly say that they liked the Battle of Fairy Tail arc not to mention the ending of that arc with all the FT members acknowleding luxus even after he was kicked out of the guild is the only moment in this entire manga that I got teary eyed.
This arc is rather neat, I was a big fan of the oracion seis from rave and these guys aren't half bad but there not as good as the one's from rave. I like how this arc showed us some members from other guilds and even re-introduced old arc villians as new allies (kinda like impel down).

hopefully the battles for the eligor arc will look good animated. That fight against the vanish bros was good except I remember the manga showing natsu K.Oing them not a bird's eye view of the mansion getting blown from the inside out than showing the next panel with them defeated.

and no matter how much you guys may bitch about small changes, remember one piecie beginning anime compared ot manga. they changed a lot of stuff around.
This episode i felt had a few too many kiddy jokes or stuff liek dancing happy and stuff. even though they were cute and i smiled it just felt like there was too many of them that it hurt it. Oh and HUGE LOL at seeing a small part of a towel when she in bath. WHY? you could still see cleavage and next scene she is out of her tub and in towel anyway, we didn't see her get out. Oh well, i'm sure they will loosen up on echhiness later like one piece did.

I've now read the entire series and I have to say it's easily my 2nd favorite. Every arc brought equal enjoyment and there were never any moments I didn't enjoy, though admittedly the current arc is not quite as good as the previous. However I enjoy it just as well :)
I have to say my favorite arc is probably the Fairy Game/Luxus one; the fights were good, Mistgun actually did something, and Gazille was really cool (his character revelation at the end was amazing). Next to that it's the War arc. We are Fairy Tail! > This is Sparta! any day of the week :P lol
For future chapters? I just wanna see Gildartz already…

I actually liked the plot twist with Mistgun… I mean, there has to be a reason behind it, and whatever it is it's probably going to be huge. And as we seen in Wendy's flashback, this is a problem he's had for awhile. And Luxus failing at Fairy Law made perfect sense to me, because it was like Natsu said, "He may be an asshole but he's not a bad guy." Not to mention Luxus was one of the better villains we've had in terms of combat ability, and the only one that Natsu required aid on to beat.
Edit: Also, Mira using her ability was a huge highlight~
