Someone please explain to me why the first episode of this series would be enough to make someone interested in seeing it through.

Well, to say the least it looked promising. I've also heard good things about it before, and I seen it was the 4th most popular series on onemanga. My friend told me I'd like it, and said it was a lot like One Piece.
I'm only through chapter 3 so far, but I'm still loving it.

The animation is pretty good, although the fighting seems a little too much like Rosario + Vampire for my taste so far, as in not enough actually fighting. I'll be looking forward to seeing the Laxus fight animated

seeing Luxus vs. mist gun, erza, natsu and gazille would look incredible animated.

This arc has to end. The fights were good, but the heroes' goal is just to stop them..there is nothing unexpected no real surprises…this arc could also be in Bleach, I really expect something more in the next arc, maybe somehing on the dragons, Gildartz or on Luxus' daddy.

It would be nice if gildartz made a cameo in the next arc as for what the next arc could be about well I doubt that this huge alliance with the "dark" guild's will be over once the oracion seis are defeated. I can see Luxus dad (the hell was his name again?) doing a full on assault against fairy tail and hope fully we'll get to see differn't mages in battles and not just 1 panel cameo's either.

At least this arc has better pacing; what would normally take a week, or two at the most, with Fairy Tail would take about a month, a month and a half, or in the case of the fight against Zero, three months to complete if this were following Bleach's pacing, and all of the members of the OS would have one or two minions each to give Sherry, Wendy, and the members of Blue Pegasus opponents to fight. Mashima knows to keep the fights short rather than dragging them out and stuffing them with filler and massive panels that convey nothing but swirling clouds of dust.

I'd actually like to see a Dragoon squad; like the knights in the first chapter, only they wear magic resistant armor and carry lances. That would be neat.

The Bleach reference had to do with the ordering of the Espada, not the amount. There are ONLY 10 Espada, it's just that Yammy was 0, not 10. So that doesn't work.
On Topic: I can see three possibilities to save the people for this arc:
1. Gerard has some ability to reset time and basically nullifies the event of this entire encounter, resealing Yami Rokumo.
2. Hibiki uploaded a copy of everyone into the Magical Internet. When all this is over, he'll just download them again.
3. Somehow they created an illusion at the last second. Standard Shonen Cliche.

It actually does work since the fact that it was also used to joke with when Kishi said there was a 10th Bijuu.

I rather see Natsu getting flown high into the air along with Erza with her strongest weapon, then dropped down to Nirvana castle at high speeds (using natsu as a human rocket of course), with fists ablaze, while everyone attacks the individual legs (or the focal point/A fallen Blaine/Zero that Natsu and Erza are going to impact) of Nirvana with their strongest magic (maybe downloaded into them by Hibiki) simultaneously while Erza and Natsu crash down on to Nirvana and destroying it.
But I'm sure Mashima can think of something way better than this cause my ending sucks.

Just got done watching episode 3 it was rather funny and I forgot that those two guys natsu fought were from a mercenary guild, here I thought they were just a couple of bounty hunters.

This week's episode actually had some decent animation for Natsu's fight. I hope that they can keep that up.

4 chapters in one fatal swoop. Too much, too much.
I'm not liking Natsu's action scenes being replaced by reusable animation (like in Magical Girl series) either.
I mean, one of the only things this manga had going for me was the really cool fight scenes… if they're all replaced by stock footage...
Well, on the bright side, the animation was actually better this episode...

The last page of the chapter was a bit cliche but it was still enjoyable. I thought last week this arc was going nowhere but this chapter got it back on track. I liked how all the allied forces chipped in to help instead of doing nothing for the entire arc.
I guess we'll see some cool moves off the perfume guy soon i expect him to fight zero -

Well, anyway, it was good to have almost an entire chapter with the more minor characters taking the stage and moving things along, though I think Mashima should've waited another week to show that Natsu, Lucy, and Gray were all right to keep up the suspense a little longer (even though we knew they would be okay, of course).

I watched the FT anime for the first time at ep 3… Man.. It does not feel like FT at all. Something about the style... It feels watered down, not as expressive or gritty in terms of background painting. And lord... That horrible style of comedy with all the colorful backgrounds and lazy still drawings....
I'm not watching this ever again to save myself the bad appetite.
Edit: About the Fairy Tail, does anyone other than me have trouble remember all the characters FT has in the Guild. Aside from the main cast, I could only recall Elfman, Levi, Reevus, and the drunk lady. Almost everyone else falls in the background or jut plain look the same, despite doing things in arcs at times.

This was one of those things whre now matter how clichéd it is, it's very hard to fail at being cool regardless.
