Okay, so just watched 415 on Funi–which was ironic because I only clicked on it thinking it was LAST week's episode (a-duh, I don't pay attention, lol). Aside from making me very happy, the ep seemed alright to me as far as translating went, and there didn't seem to be any lag at all, and I have a reeealy bad connection. One thing I did notice was that they didn't seem to bother to put Nyon's accent in there, but that's understandable (haven't watched any previous Amazon Lily Funi eps so I didn't know).
There wasn't much mention of haki (I think they mentioned it like, once, but I was paying too much attention to the story), but I remember looking up both 'haki' and 'ambition in my Japanese/English dicionary, and from what I could see 'haki' itself doesn't define into the word ambition at all, nor did ambition in Japanese any way have a word that even sounds like haki-- at least that's the edition that I have, and it's pretty complete from what I can tell, though maybe a few years old. Maybe the translators came across the same problem I did and just decided to stick to using the word that's used in the manga/anime.
Of course that COULD just mean that they're lazy and didn't bother looking up more complete definitions of words--there's lots of words and slang in Japanese that don't come up in my dictionary at all yet I still know what they mean. Either way, I really don't see the term Haki sticking for too long… there hasn't been many cases in OP where they used the original Japanese terms... they went ahead and changed Shichibukai and Kairouseki of course, and I'm not even gonna touch on the Nakama subject. And if it does stick -- well, that just means they either didn't try hard enough or they really believe it's the best way to go. There's not much anyone else can do about it.
