ok, this chapter knocked me for a loop. just a few questions/theories/observations:
this may have been discussed before, but is whitebeard dying from the same disease roger had? when we saw him he had all these nurses and tubes in him. perhaps he can't fight so well anymore…?
perhaps Garp is pretending to be a marine all this time and is going to go for a big reveal to save ace?
we all know the shichibukai are unreliable when it comes to following gov't orders. who is to say that none or all of them fight? they seem as likely to turn around and fight the gov't than to fight for the gov't.
SOMEONE has to come and help luffy or else he will never escape and one piece will end.

He has secretly teamed up with the 4th Yonkou, who will suddenly appear when both the Marines and WB are weakened from battle. Together they will take out WB and what's left of the Marines and will become the biggest force of the new era.
(But then his plans get messed up by Buggy who accidently takes out the 4th, d'oh)

They aren't unreliable because they'll turncoat in the middle of a huge battle, but because they only care about themselves for the most part.

Flamingo looks a little bigger then usual but otherwise it's fine and everyones looking at the picture wrong. Mihawk and Boa are standing on the same line as the Marine officer, the line of Shichibukai's is angled toward us, with Boa and Mihawk nearer to the front of the panel, and the Marine and the other three farther back.

Kuma told Luffy that they wont meet ever again. However, the Shichibukai are waiting at the front and they're the ones that are going to confront Luffy's ship arent they? So Luffy and Kuma will probably meet then if that's how it's going to happen. Is it that Kuma didnt predict this or what?
somebody has to open the gates and if any of the shichibukai currently there betrays the marines aside from hancock it's probably kuma. he would have the easiest time teleporting himself to the controls and opening them. although if kuma is allied with dragon then he will probably wait till whitebeard arrives and then go open the gate and then destroy the controls so they can't close the gate. after that kuma will teleport himself to wherever dragon is or is going to be. i think he told luffy they wouldn't see each other again for a reason. if kuma remains a shichibukai after this then it would be very possible that they would see each other again. if kuma joins dragon after this then they won't see each other again most likely.

i did make a prediction that the 500 pirates that kizaru captured are currently being held at some prison at marineford and the supernovas are among those 500 pirates captured. luffy would most likely end up setting them free and then they would all team up and cause havoc at marineford.

well we didn't have any mention of them at impel down right? they could of been at marineford waiting to get shipped to impel down but then luffy invaded impel down and everything went to hell. where else would they send them? that marine said they didn't have enough men to process them so they could of been at marineford waiting to get processed but never did end up making it to impel down thanks to luffy. i doubt those 500 pirates were mentioned for no reason.

You're quite negative. Do the math, Roger got Rouge pregnant 5 months before his execution, after the crew had already disbanded. There's no guarantee that anyone from his crew knows that Ace is his child. I suspect that Rayleigh and Shanks know, but it's only suspicion and I certainly don't have proof of the fact.

I can't find the link now but just recently I saw someone link to where Ace was sitting in his cell taking to Garp and saying that He and Luffy had the blood of a global crimnal. (since if they are related to Garp they would also have the blood of a marine so it shouldn't matter unless it's their direct parent imo)
OFC there could be translation issues and hes saying "criminals" (plural) but somehow I don't think you would use such a phrasing that a small error makes a difference between sharing blood and haveing something in common about the profession of their parent(s).

Wasn't the quote ''We both have the blood of a global-scale criminal''? In retrospect, that can be interperated as ''both of our fathers are global-scale criminals''. It's deliberately ambiguous wording.

I've never claimed to be good at Japanese, and I will continue to hold true to that. In fact, I'm downright poor at the language, my skills are probably similar to that of a two year old. Instead of arguing this point myself, I will quote someone who knows what she's talking about (even though it's fairly basic, her word is still worth a lot more than mine on this topic).

Anyway: 5 months before his execution. I don't recall was GDR executed directly or was he held for a while before execution? Did he have enough time to acctually know that Rouge was pregnant and that it was his child?

Niice chapter, talk about left field but then again considering Dragon is Luffy's father I guess it isn't surprising. Love the way the tension built up in this one especially the vagueness of if Whitebeard coming or not. Good chance he will though and if ain't gonna be pretty (wouldn't surprise me if he wasn't already there).
For some odd reason am getting a "Soul Society arc" vibe judging from he expression of most of the named marines when they heard Ace's story. I can kinda see them fighting amongst themselves, ya know moral justice vs absolute justice and all that. Of course am not Oda so I'll just see where this goes. Looking forward to next chapter ^_^.

Oooh finally someone noticed it! her left leg is huge compared to her upper body and it's longer then her right one… i think oda didn't plan to draw it at first (the right leg) but had to after changing hancock's position to line her and mihawk up with the other shichis.
but what really felt out of place to me in this chapter was not the delayed pregnancy but the big screens (with dolby surround lol) at SA. WTF? they achieved that level of technology and yet the MHQ don't have radars and sonars??

The denden mushi aparently is the only thing that can transmit beyond islands because the weird electromagnetic thing of the great line, besides they are good at their job, so there is no need to invent anything better.
Besides at Impel down we saw the Hypno Slug that can turn what the den den mushi see into images at screens.

I think Ace is still guilty because of his initial charges, being Whitebeard's 2nd Commander and not being Roger's son.
However, Sengoku reveals this because executing him would then be a symbolic win for the Marines, in that not only have they killed the pirate king but they will have wiped out his entire blood line. Also, we don't know exactly how the scientists and pschologists in the OP world view genetics, so he could be viewed as a threat for just carrying Roger's blood.
This arc is complete balls, I have no idea where it's all going to go but it's thrilling to say the least. What I am curious about is the Shichibukai status of Blackbeard and Jimbei, does anyone think we'll get two new Shichibukai anytime soon?
My guess would be Arlong, since we haven't seen him since his defeat and because Oda is hinting at a confrontation with him and Jimbei and maybe, iunno, a Supernova?

Seeing Hancock sleeveless gives me confidence that shes will be kicking major butt.
Oh yeah, not to mention the way she was petting her snake looks like it will be used as a weapon. The fact that Hancock changed her outfit only confirms that she's a fighter. It wasn't a matter of fan-service, it was a matter of practicality, all that robe stuff would get in the way as she punches and kicks ass.
AMAZING CHAPTER!!! Shickibukai, Admirals, Smoker and Tashigi, Hina, Sengoku, Tsura, Garp, everything!!!>< Luffy looks so small in comparison yet you just know he's gonna make a difference somehow. Mr. Oda is really hyping things up!!!!!

Knowing the huge friendship between Sengoku and Garp, I am sure that the current chief admiral knew all this story related to Ace since the beginning thanks to his friendship with Garp.
One of the keys here is that we don´t know about the type of brothership that Ace and Luffy have got, I believe that the event between Luffy and Shanks is part of another event related to Ace and is very strange that Ace never appears in the first chapter of the manga, it is like he was never in the life of Luffy until more later.
Who influenced Ace to become a pirate? We know that in the case of Luffy it was Shanks but we don´t know anything about the reason that put Ace to become a pirate, the influence in Ace is clear, the influence is Luffy, he is the one who influences Ace to become a pirate.
Imagine this situation, Shanks saves a small boy from an island of the east blue, this boy has the same Haki than his old captain and Shanks knows about the son of his old captain and where he is, Shanks contacts with Garp and says where is the son of Roger, Shanks doesn´t know anything about the last with from Roger made to Garp, he believes that Luffy is Roger reincarnated and he will protect the son of his old captain.
In other words, Luffy is Roger reincarnated for protecting his son, Ace.

damn, that was a crazy chapter, I always find the "movements of the world" setup chapters to be some of the most memorable. The spreads all rocked.
Pretty creepy with the whole 20 month pregnancy thing, does finding One Piece give a guy super sperm, or is just just a natural Gol D. family trait? Will we learn later Luffy was cooking in the womb for like 50 months?
So I guess this means that Luffy and Ace are brothers only in that they were raised together, no blood, but I don't see that making a lick of difference to Luffy.
And I too noticed Hancock's weirdly long leg. I think she was drawn to be sitting on the snake, and someone looked at it last minute and thought the bottom of her leg was missing. I wouldn't be surprised if it's edited out for the tank, you know Oda's going to get a bunch of letters about it.
