from the pages maxterdexter linked from mangahelpers, I say the chapter looks very promising.

Cool chapter -
! Whoo! Damn fine chapter right there! The Izumi/Sig and Alex/Olivier team up was just epic beyond words (I loved Alex and Olivier's reaction after Izumi threw Sloth) Actually, I figured Izumi and Olivier would hit it off perfectly since they're both hard-assed, and Alex and Sig already have a good friendship, which I think was great that Arakawa followed up on. And another homunculus bites the dust…or becomes the dust. Whatever.
! And finally Father and Hohenheim really start to show their stuff, and they do not disappoint. I love how Hohenheim was just so cool about it and was countering Father's attacks like they were nothing, whereas with Ed and Al...well, you know (I don't see how in the hell they're gonna defeat him) And that whole family and emotions talk was really interesting. As far as the Philosopher's Stone goes, I actually think there is no PS in Hohenheim anymore and I think it had something to do with him spurting that red stuff about umpteen chapters back. Though I'm really anxious to find out what the exact details are.
! Ah, so another chapter has come and gone and now we have to wait another month (It all happened so fast!) Well, there's no way in hell Arakawa can wrap this up in 4 chapters. -
Unless chapter 100 is like 100 pages long.
Ahhh, I love it. Izumi and Sig: So awesome they make the Armstrong siblings gape.
And I nearly bust a gut laughing over Armstrong and Sig reaffirming their "friendship of muscles." Too hilarious.
-
as usually grand work from arakawa! she really never lets us down!
this series won't be over in only 4 more chaps, i hope it keeps on going and going to at least 110.izumis judo flip-over + armstrong siblings reaction is really priceless -most silly faces i recall recently. and big ol' muscle bears friendship reunion is soooo, soooooo… damn, i don't even find a word for this. (lol, i guess arakawa really is into muscles and enjoys drawing this kind of stuff a lot g). and poor sloth never even had a chance against the two of them.
hohenheim vs. father is really something else, when they don't fight hand to hand combat at all and do all their magic stuff without even forming any kind of circle. those two are just way overpowered, but next chap might already conclude the beginning of the end for one or both of them. i wonder what kind of emotion father is missing... is it the fear that his enemy might be able to defeat him or the curiousity to learn as much about alchemy as hohenheim or how to destroy or plague a PS... i really don't know, so the wait for the next chap is already unbearable... sure thing is, hohenheim wanted to figure out how to die all along, so it is quite likely that he let father take that PS of his.
btw. wasn't there something about wrath in the spoilers or did my mind make that up? i wonder when he will return and who is going to finish him off. most likely greed cause ed and al never kill people or homunculi (=anyone) as i recall.
-
Wrath spoilers were fake.
-
Ah shamely the female general was that weak… but Izumi/Sig combo was really good. Father vs Hohenheim fight is gonna be good but... you know how its gonna end... if its not get any super twist's.
-
I love how both hohenheim and father just need to lightly step or touch in order to create alchemy.

I didn't think Olivia seemed that weak here. Her and Alex had been beating on an impossibly fast, incredibly powerful and practically immortal monster for and extended amount of time at this point. They were obviously going to take a few hits and I think it's pretty impressive that they held out as long as they did. Izumi basically stepped in right at the end to boost morale and help finish the job. Considering the fact that she frequently coughs up blood at the slightest provocation, I have a feeling she'd probably be even worse for the wear had she been fighting the whole time.
Either way, great chapter. Things are really wrapping up quite handsomely. And dammit if Hohenheim didn't crack me up with his alchemical shenanigans.

i think you are forgetting that izumi and hohenheim met and that he fixed her 'little' organ problem -though i'm not sure if he fixed it for good or just for the time beeing. izumi wouldn't be coughing blood anymore from pure blood pressure rising and her skills in combat are likely unmatched so far, exept for bradley perhaps, who is a combat monster. she'd have been able to handle sloth pretty flawlessly when she'd be able to anticipate sloth's fast moves and wouldn't be hit by surprise -which we don't know.
father and pride on the other hand are too much of a risk for even her to handle… she's a little chicken when it comes to the bad motherfuckers, as she said herself. so she didn't see sloth as that threatening at all and she could have handled him.btw, does anyone agree when i'm saying that alex would normally defeat olvia in a big brawl(not to the death) but alex just can't go all out on her since she's his sister -that's why he always loses...
though i think an actual fight to the death between the two armstrongs is quite open since olvia is pretty damn lethal when she fights with her sword. -
its obvious that olivia isn't weak. why people say so is far from my train of thought.
-
she's the commanding officer of all briggs and briggs is a fucking badass country… olvia is a 'lord of war', lol, and i agree with you, but i just want to point out that alex louis is just too softie to harm his big sister and that's the sole reason why he always ends up kissing the floor every single time they fight, even if it kills him…
-
i agree with that. i gotta say though some alchemist like alex or mustang needs some kind of new alchemy attack or something. i gotta say i was a little disappointed that he took out lust and envy the same way
-
i'm still not sure if ed and al can also use the anti-homunculi alchemie or if it's just marcoh who learned it… i mean, weren't they both there when they discovered the secret of that alchemie (not sure)? if they could use it, they might have as well used it against the immortal soldiers or pride, i think, but they didn't... that's so disturbing to me cause those two are fast learners and should be able to do anything marcoh can do... well, they might just not have killed pride for climax reasons.
i find alex's alchemie pretty variable, i mean, doesn't he form all kinds of cheesy stuff from the ground? like his head with the little sparkles, lol.
and mustang also used his alchemie to tortue envy by boiling his eyeballs... that was quite gruesome. he inherited this glove and alchemie from his master, there isn't that much other stuff he can do than rosting the enemy. -
-
i think you are forgetting that izumi and hohenheim met and that he fixed her 'little' organ problem -though i'm not sure if he fixed it for good or just for the time beeing.
He didn't fix it. He just rearranged her organs a little so she could have better blood flow. Her reproductive organs are still gone.
Haha, I wonder if Olivia and Izumi would still get along if Olivia found out it was Izumi who terrorized the Briggs Fortress all those years ago…XD
And I love how the soldiers, who were earlier bent on killing the Armstrongs, are now working together to try and save them. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. You go, nameless soldiers! :D

Now that I'm reminded, though, removing that handicap would put Izumi up in the big leagues alongside the mains and some of the big bads. I wouldn't quite say that she could handle Sloth on her own any better than the Armstrongs were, though. Her being human means she'd still tire out faster than a homunculus, even if his most defining character trait is his laziness.

Well, the anime's about to hit the manga-only material, so here's a commercial for it, featuring Ling's group and Scar fighting Giolio Cormanchet:
87HK0-JqtkY
Hearing Miyano Mamoru's voice makes me think that BONES is bent on getting the entire cast of Gundam 00 in the show. They already have a good percentage of them onboard, so they should just go the whole bloody way. They did a lot of weird shuffling around in this episode. Ed still gets his fight with Greed, but they moved Izumi's confrontation with him to the end of the episode, so it's pretty weird. I dunno how they're going to handle Bradley raiding the Devil's Nest, or if they're just going to replace it with something else. Either way, we'll be seeing Father next week.
And Greed demostrating his immortality is even bloodier than the first series!
-
Good, let's hope they start being faithful to the manga.
-
HELL YEAH! LING!!!!
-
LingthelittlegirlLingthelittlegirlLingthelittlegirl LING AND THE EFFING LITTING GIRL. YES, FINALLY! Some faithfulness to the manga! ;3; I can't wait to see the fight between Ed and Greed either. <33

tee hee. la la la la. sings waiting for a fan sub. waiting for a fan sub. <3 I wanna watch this tonight <3

Bump for question.
Now that they've gotten past the point where the Original Anime had already gotten, has the pacing slowed down and is everything a bit more in-line with the Manga?
I was hoping the fast-pacing and the removal of some Manga stuff was just to get through all the stuff they'd already done quickly to get to the new stuff.
I hope I was right. -
Well, we're still on Greed. We won't fully, fully diverge until either next week, where Father appears, or the week after, where Ling will probably appear.
After that I expect them to slow down a bit, but unless BONES is going to break its 50-ish episode limit that it always follows, I expect fast pacing throughout.
-
anyone have another way to view that preview? Aniplex keeps taking them down and I want to show it to a friend
-
This should work, I think. Haven't tested it out myself.

Spoilers are out, with pics:
He's baaaaaaaaaaacck….....
! Oh, and Father's true form. Now THAT looks like a homunculus.
Edit: For some stupid reason, the pictures won't link in this forum. Check out the mangahelpers thread:

Spoiler pics don't work.
But here's the spoiler summary.
[hide]-Cover Pic appears to be young Van Hohenheim and Ed.
-Some flashbacks of Hohenheim? receiving aid.
-Van Hohenheim is alive, and spikes father.
-Father dies? but comes back as an eyeball monster (those eyes that we see from Pride)
-Izumi and her hubby fighting the monsters.
-The armstrongs in what i believe to be bradley's office, footprints in blood of 2 soldiers.
-Bradley is alive
-Bradley cutting someone up, about to go after Falman.
-Greed is sat above the doors looking down on Bradley and makes himself known as the chapter ends.Greed/Ling vs. Bradley rematch next chapter should be good.
[/hide] -
The Wrath/Greed fight was amazing; it was like, One Piece level awesomeness as far as fights go. It was sad they cut so much out of the manga, but hopefully they'll make up for it with the coming episodes.
I'm hoping the new chapter comes out by friday; I leave for a week on saturday.
-
The new chapter looks awesome.
-
! I'm pretty psyched to see Bradley back in action after so long, since his fight against Greed in Brotherhood was incredibly beastly.
! Father leaving his skin behind was pretty creepy. I have a feeling that Hohenheim is going to go down, since if he beats Father, Ed and Al won't have a final boss to fight (well, maybe Pride), as Bradley should be reserved for Roy. -
Nah, It will be Wrath vs Greed all the way, right now anything else is impossible, besides how many more homonunculus do you want Roy to kill?
-
finaly ive been wating for ling?greed to fight again and i like bradley alot more after watching him vs greed in brotherhood
-
The fight between Greed and Wrath was awesome! (and yeah, it does correspond greatly with the manga).
As an extra bonus, they made Greed's death scene in the manga (which was alright) and made it seem pretty badass. If you're not kicking the bucket like that, you're not doing it right. -
Just caught back up with the anime and the last 2 episodes for the Devil's Nest arc were better than the one's in the original series. Now I really can't wait to see ling's first animated appearance: FUCK YEAH!!! and I also wanted to see Scar vs. Giolio Cormanchet
( I liked this guys character design it was neat) -
Nah, It will be Wrath vs Greed all the way, right now anything else is impossible, besides how many more homonunculus do you want Roy to kill?
Technically he only killed Lust. It was Ed's corny friendship speech that killed Envy. :)
-
True, but Mustang did all the hard work. He's had two major Homunculus fights so far, it's someone else's turn.
Besides, Ling owes Bradley for his defeat and Ran Fan's arm.
-
Ran Fan will eventually show up to help. But it'll mostly be a Greed/Ling Vs. Wrath fight.
-
If Mustang did kill envy, it should be him vs the fuhrer, because that way Liza could die dramaticly, forcing him to open the gate, but he is calm now, so there is no place for such drama
-
Wow, what a chapter.
It had two great lines:
"I can't believe anybody would sit in such an easily-sniped spot."
"Don't cry like a girl when you act like a man."I love this series.
-
I do like how the Greed/Wrath battle's coming full circle.
-
I would for once like to see greed/ling whoop on wrath. To me it seems that the times wrath fought both greed or ling even greed/ling he dominated them.
-
Absolutely; I've been waiting for the Greed/Wrath rematch for a long time. Idk how Greed will win but I'm rooting for him!
-
Wrath to me is just too damn powerfull, practically no one in all of FMA can match wrath it appears well possibly: Izumi and Armstrong from briggs the rest just seem like they would get owned in a heart beat.
-
Sloth could've stood a chance with his speed, but now that I think about it you're right. He is on a different level than everyone else.
-
exactly the mangaka who's name I cannot remember was it arakawa? to me made wrath too powerfull. Well him, Pride and Father.
I believe every mangaka tends to do this, maybe that's why some characters have Hax powers for these characters. -
At least Pride has some obvious weaknesses and can be stopped, and Father is currently facing the one person who can beat him. I think Greed can do it; he knows from experience what will and won't work.
-

I think it comes with a lot of trial and error. I don't think Bradley was the first Wrath; the experiments Father and the Gold tooth (speaking of this guy, is it ever going to be explained who the hell he is? I think the last time he showed up he was with the one General that Armstrong sliced open at Briggs) did showed that they were prepared for this sort of thing by the time Wrath was needed. Being the first Homunculus/Human Hybrid, it was obvious that Father hadn't figured out how to perform the process until then. While Sloth had a specific purpose to Father's plan (digging the Transmutation circle around Amestris), none of the others had a specific purpose until Bradley was born, meaning they were likely prototypes. Remember, Father was a little upset when Lust died, but didn't even try to recreate her using a new stone. Even Pride, able to mimic almost every power of his brothers and sister, doesn't seem like a complete Homunculus. The two Human/Homunculus Hybrids (Ling/Greed and Wrath) seem to be the most powerful and resourceful of the bunch. Sure, Pride is powerful, but he has a very obvious weakness. The Hybrids don't.
