Seriously, though, Jimbei's probably ridiculous in the water. I bet he can sink an entire fleet without even trying. According to his banter with Ace, he's about equal strength with Ace, and if "Fire Fist" can sink a fleet without even trying, a Gyojin, with their mastery of water manipulation, certainly can.

You know, now that we have insight into Jimbei's character, I seriously think everyone was rather surprised at his actual personality/demeanor. I mean, myself and I'm sure several others expected him to be some kind of crime lord, or at least someone who would cause a lot of grief for Luffy. Well,since he was the successor of Fisher Tiger I always thought of him more like a guardian to all fishmen.A slave liberator and all that stuff,not your average pirate.
It's true that I pictured him having a deep grudge against mankind like Argon.He turned out to be much more level headed than I expected.
Well after this chapter, probably there are going to be many probable scenarios.
I think that we might see BlackBeard return, and he has suck dry all of the poison with his DF. Probably, with his warping ability, he took out all the prisoners of lvl 6 and the prisoners that got infected by the poison, he probably suck out all the poison. Just when we see that Mr 3 might die, we will see BB comming again, and defeating Magellan.
I still think Arlong is the strongest looking fishman we have seen yet. (appearence-wise)
Jimbei doesn't look very strong, and his attacks have not been very impressive till now… well, maybe that's just the special effects fan in me speaking.

Jinbei's attacks haven't looked like much because they're out of their medium.
His punches seem to occupy space so imagine that in the water.
I'm expecting to see him fire nothing short of whirlpools straight at targets.
Well, fishmen do have these really powerful ablities when in water. Kinda like that one that cut the ocean with a chop in the Foxy arc. I would not be surprised is Jimbei opens the Red Sea or does an Aqua Lugana.

Yeah, I agree with you. He just keeps throwing in amazing things and then leaves us with a cliffhanger every single week. And it doesn't help that a new Berserk chapter comes out only about once a month :getlost: .

I forget the specifics, but after it was revealed that Whitebeard is regarded as someone who had brought order to Fishman Island and whatnot, people have proposed the idea that Whitebeard will get taken out in the war, Fishman Island will become chaotic, and then Luffy will sort it out and be regarded as a hero there, strengthening his case as the man on his way to becoming the Pirate King.

On topic: decent chapter, but I want Luffy to face Magellan 1 on 1 already, I could care less about Mr.3.
Oda is doing a lot of exposition (foreshadowing is a type of exposition) since the battle with Moria.
Moria said that Luffy was going to lose his nakamas and it happened when Kuma dispersed all them, this type of exposition is named planting and is nothing more than a prediction made by a character or an element in a chapter that triggers a future event. Well, Ivankov said one thing in the last chapter that is for me a trigger for a future event.
Luffy will "die" against Magellan, this is needed for his evolution as a character but this time his dying won´t be alone like the first time, it will be in front of the Newkamas, he will see how all the people that is with him will start to be killed by Magellan and then Luffy will "resurrect" full of his Haki.
About Magellan ans his defeat he have seen a lot of planting since Shabondy:
-Rayleigh able to block Kizaru attack against Zoro, remember that isn´t the same block than nulify.

No. NOOO. NOOOOOOOOOO! Don't say that. Please don't say that. Oda has been hyping up fishman island since 2006, so please don't say that. We were supposed to be there after water 7 but, NOO, he gives us thriller bark (which I loved) and Sabaody(which I also loved) and NOW gives us IMPEL FUCKING DOWN (which Is my favorite arc so far). But thats not it, now we're going to Marineford, another arc which is going ( to blow my mind) take another 30 CHAPTERS, then who knows what will happen (return to sabaody? Mariejoa? Amazon Lily?)
My point is that all of this buildup and suspence has made me crazy and want to see it already!! And I don't want it to end so quickly. It BETTER be one of the BIGGEST fucking arcs EVAR:( :)

But if it's something interesting like allowing him to hit him without touching him then that would be an interesting fight. And it's not like this wasn't foreshadowed. Haki won´t save the day and it will be like Gear 2 wasn´t a Deux Ex Machina against Lucci or Nightmare Luffy wasn´t enough to defeat Moria. A Deus Ex Machina is just the resource of the bad storytellers and Oda never used it and he won´t with Haki.
I remember when the Gear 3 Luffy pushed Lucci and a lot of people said that this was the end, it it was the end then Oda would have put a Deus Ex Machina with it.

I'm the second person who doesn't remember this happening.
That said, your scenario as it stands isn't very compelling. If Luffy is poisoned a second time then something more creative should save him from it. Or he should never get poisoned at all, since that seems like something that would slow down the story. Besides, Haki hasn't been shown as a means to survive poison.
Edit: Checked this chapter, and yes Magellan bled, but why would you think haki did it? Magellan is impossible to touch without being poisoned, he's not impossible to damage.

Meh, wouldn't like it as much as shooting Haki blasts with his fist with the recoil of his arms. Also if he had mantra only, he still couldn't touch Magellan. I guess it's be ok if he had both abilities but I mean what would be a better fight? A tense survival battle where one touch will kill you as you try to throw in your own punches or a not-so-tense survival battle where you know where every attack comes from as you hit your opponent at your leisure?

Basically wat happened to Luffy happened to Ivankov. He hit him, damaged him, but got poisoned in the process. But i dont want him to get captured again! btw, did anyone notice a smile on ivankovs face in the last panel?(http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/545/17/) It might just be me. But im gonna give it to Iva, hes the only one to damage Magellan with his guard up. Thinking realistically, Luffy was being underestimated and got in a good punch. After that, none of his punches hurt Magellan.
I dont think even Haki can nullify the poisons effects. Its is a way to hit a persons true body though without resistance. But even thats a theory, and the full explanation of haki hasnt happened yet
My best hypothesis of Luffy beating Magellan. Luffy plus Candle Champion. Luffys power with body armor. Unless Luffy can be lit on fire, he should be good, and he wont touch Magellan.

Don't think Shiryuu is going anywhere near Magellan. Based on his commments about Magellan, he's rather afraid of him.
But another candidate for Magellan would be Jimbei. He has shown the ability to hit someone without touching him.

Candle Champion would be fun for a bit like in the beginning but it'd be lame if Luffy fought and beat Magellan with it. For Luffy to beat Magellan, i believe Haki is the only solution. I believe it will allow him to hurt him without touching him. If Luffy can just do that, he has a chance. Don't think he'll have it from the begining though. the beginning of the fight will most probably constitute evading and throwing things at Magellan.

Now this really doesn't need any haki involvement. It actually would suck if anyone could overcome Magellans poison with haki. Haki is reserved for the truly untouchable logias (see Kizaru and Rayleigh).
There has to be a way in beating this guy without losing your hands. And there are some options left:
Jimbei and his fishman karate. He doesn't need to touch Magellan directly, as seen against these three prison guards.
Another option would be Galdinos wax. Candle champion on Luffy or a wax gloves over his hands, pick your choice.
Or If they actually manage to get out of Impel Down, Crocodile would be a possibility. He has some devasting long range moves.
Or they could actually try to gang up on Magellan. He's strong, but he surely isn't going to beat Crocodile, Jimbei and Luffy alone at the same time.

Well at least it's being developed quite well even if you don't like the concept, that you must admit. And there at least is something to take down those broken logias. I mean, honestly, what would you prefer, a slowly nurtured new power system hat will totally change and make a clean slate on the playing field on the second half of the series or those broken logias to remain broken?
I just want to see Kaidou soon. Just a quick cut to him and Shanks, I have to see what this dude looks like in full.

I think thats pretty much the idea Mr 2, Mr 3, Jinbei and Ivankov have all been pressing onto Luffy. They need to get out of there and fast. Time is ticking unril the execution, and they can't waste any more time in ID taking on the likes of Blackbeard, Shiryuu and Magellan
i can only thing that luffy will use gear2 + candle lock (jet tonkachi …) to defeat magelan. He cant use haki at will yet he need strong emotion to activate.
Luffy he will use haki in marinford when ace will be about to killed. he will stand on bulding and scream "Ace!!!" and use burst of haki knocking some guarding marinse and executioner then will show final boss trying finish ace then luffy use gomu gomu rocket and bazuka (gutling gun) steal using haki.
But man he start using gear 2 and 3 in water7 and now is almost useless oda in this arc realy show how stronger are peopol near New word
