Eagles Tower dungeon in Links Awakening had more creativity then the entirety of the Oracle games.

@JERK:
And I will bitch slap anyone who brings up the Oracle games.
Oracle of Seasons rocks your socks off….and then pisses on them.
Loved the fact Capcom got involved with a Zelda game, that was jizz.
Anyway....
I am like one of the biggest Zelda fans...I got a fucking Tri-Force with the Master Sword going through it tattooed on my back for crying out loud.
I was dissapointed at the epic fail of Miyamoto at E3 and the "interference". That demo sucked, control wise.
This game is going to be epic, like all the Zeldas end up to be in there own way. And I will probably buy it (and not download it) since I keep a collection.
-
I'm sure you're a big fan, the terrible dumbass kind that has no sense of quality control and will have sex with anything the company logo is on.

Yup.

Seriously? Quality control? wtf is wrong with you?

Nah just your Mom….after she turns her food stamps into cash.
-
I wouldn't have done that if I were you.
-

I'm saying you're a big mouthed walking vuvuzela that sticks his dick in any given Zelda product and calls it great. You're the thankfully minority example of a Sonic style Zelda fan who would trash the franchise if given the reins by eating up any and all mediocrity, greatness, badness, and digesting it as the same gray mush called "EPIK ZELDA KICKASS".
You're the kind of SUPA FAN that is a terrible destructive leech on what you claim to love.

And you conjured up all of this because…I have a Triforce Tattoo on my back?
Awww how sweet. Did you let it all out?
I must admit though, the whole Sonic fan reference was golden...I knew some kids like that.

lol, I went to the corner store to buy some franks in the time it took you to run off, shake with rage, and come back to exact revenge.
I conjured all this by your dumb response and defense of anything Zelda.
-

If you mean eat my lunch and smoke a cigarette while completely forgetting that you even exist? Then yeah.

I defend anything Zelda by saying every Zelda game is epic in it's own way? Hmmm….I can kinda see how you got that from....mmm nope nevermind....
Don't get mad because I like a series pass it's faults. I liked every Zelda in their own way.
Will I pull out a gun and shoot someone in the face for dissing on Zelda? Nope.
-
Link's awakening is the only handheld zelda that holds its own against the console iterations. I don't see how any of the others could be called an epic, you're using the term incredibly loosely.

Did you enjoy the CD-i ones?
Overall I personally think Zelda is the best game series out there. Although it does have some duds (Zelda 2 springs instantly to mind) The Oracle series wasn't terrible but it certainly wasn't on the same par as Link's Awakening or Link To The Past. Minish Cap was okish. Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks had their moments too but were still behind LTTP and Link's Awakening by quite a bit.
All the 3D ones I've enjoyed to bits however.
Oh and I quite enjoyed the Four Swords game too. Mainly because I actually had three others to play with. We still have long jokes about when my friend had a high pitched girly voice and continuously screamed 'YOU'VE NICKED ME GEEEEMS!'
-
Although it does have some duds (Zelda 2 springs instantly to mind)
No.
Zelda 2 was great.
-
I haven't actually gotten to play any of the handheld Zelda games pre-DS. But I've heard nothing but praise for Link's Awakening, especially the DX version. Phantom Hourglass was nowhere near as good as Wind Waker, but it was still a good Zelda game.
I fully embrace the Zelda:SS artstyle even if it does resemble a hybrid of WW and TP, though I think it looks more similar to Okami, another backlog game I need to play.
-
You should play Awakening, in my opinion it's better then anything that came after, save perhaps wind waker.
-
Hourglass sucks ass when you consider that the par on far inferior technology over ten years ago for handheld Zeldas was Links Awakening. Inexcusable in fact.
-
My main problem with Hourglass and Spirit Tracks were more or less this:
-
Boat and Rail travel. Urgh. I'd rather be able to explore the world rather than have a few areas and then let the rest pass it by. At least Wind Waker had dozens of tiny islands.
-
Repeated Dungeon. Nuff said
I'm sure there was something else too.
The side-quests were pretty 'meh' in the DS ones too. Ferry annoying passangers around was fun the first few times. But got old quick. As did the moving cargo.
-

Yeah… this. Not sure where they got the idea that anyone would find either of those elements to be fun.
Honestly more excited about 3DSOoT than SS. They haven't made an exceptional Zelda game since MM, so why start now? I'll need some more convincing.
-
-
each to their own. I personally thought both WW and TP were exceptional games. Not quite on par with either OoT or Majora but still great.
Although it should be said that one of the best Zelda games in recent years is named 'Okami' anyways.
-
Wind Waker is the best 3d zelda. If they hadn't rushed it, it'd probably be the best zelda full stop. As it is, I rate LTTP & LA above it. As for okami, anything down to majora's mask bests it.
So
Link To The Past
Links Awakening
Wind Waker
Ocarina of Time
Zelda 2
Majora's mask
Twilight Princess
Minish Cap
Zelda 1
Phantom Hourglass
Ages
Seasons
Spirit TracksSomething like that I guess. My memory of the oracle games isn't that great anymore, but at best just over PH.
-

Well of course, but what was Clover's reward? Getting shut down of course. The world works in sad ways.
-

This is all YOUR opinion though.
I liked the Oracle games, what the hell is wrong with liking the DAMN ORACLE GAMES!?!?!?!?!
I am in no way using Epic Loosely.
Did you enjoy the CD-i ones?
Only the "Faces of Evil". I never bothered with the other ones since most don't consider them real "games" because of how horrid everything was put together.
Although it does have some duds (Zelda 2 springs instantly to mind)
You buggin'
Adventure of Link was actually pretty good. I love the music…and jumping at will...cmon. Going up to the old lady and having her turn into a monster was awesome.
-
Alright, before we derail the new Zelda Wii thread into generic Zelda discussion, is there anything else you guys wanna see in the game? Because some form of music has been in the previous 3D console releases besides MM, anyone else besides me expecting music to be somehow be integrated in as well? As for weapons, there'll probably be a boomerang, but I could see the beetle thing replacing it.

Two Words:
ONI LINK (or Fierce Deity Link) but that will never happen :(

Here comes the opinion train, right on schedule.
If you really think every zelda game qualifies under that banner, I guess we're done here.

Just for it to be fun. They shouldn't try to hard to follow any previous formats, like I kind of feel they did with TP. Wind Waker was deficient in quite a few areas, but the unadulterated fun I had playing large parts of it mean I still rate the game highly.
-

Whether it's a train, plane, bus, unicycle, rollerblade, or a friggin' piggy back ride….an opinion is an opinion.
You may not like controlling the seasons to get through puzzles, I did. You may not have liked the story and the boss battle in the end...I did. You may not have liked Capcom having a hand in the game development. I DID.
If you really think every zelda game qualifies under that banner, I guess we're done here.
I really think that every Zelda game was epic in there own ways, yes. If that is a crooked way of thinking then so be it and then we are done.
-
Just play Link's Awakening again instead.
That way you actually get to play a great game.
I was doing so recently, but I ended up getting lost. I'll have to start it again sometime. It kinda sucked at some point I was filling out as much squares as I could on the map to find the next dungeon or item hint.
-
I played Link's Awakening on the computer.
Good stuff.

I'd like to see a nice amount of dungeons. About equal to OoT or LTTP. Or 8 or 10 sounds about right.
Personally another thing I always like is the new weapons. And this time I'd like to see the new weapons being useful OUTSIDE of the dungeon they're found in. That was my problem with the Spinner, Ball + Chain, the second grapple hook and the staff. Outside the dungeons we used them about once or twice.
I'd also like to see a return to the Fire Rod. I'm sure it's due a comeback.
-

So you are just an fanboy drone like you so vigorously denied a few pages back.
Anyway I only finished playing Phantom Hourglass fairly recently and I found that fairly unbearable. Endless oceans, endless central dungeon which was both aggrevating and difficult, very little immersion, aside from the aggrevating central dungeon everything was extremely easy because of massively oversimplified controls, boring dungeons. I've not played the Oracle games, Zelda 2 or Spirit Tracks but I'd rank this as my worst.
-
I remember loving the puzzle in PH that made you close the DS. It was pretty cool. I was expecting to see it again in Spirit Tracks and every game after.
-
WARNING! BEWARE OF OPINIONS!
The Oracle games honestly weren't that bad. They were fun and I had a good time.
Pretty much the point of video games, wouldn't you say?Aonuma has yet to (majorly) disappointment me. Well, yeah, he did a few not-so-smart moves like the Ocean Temple in Phantom Hourglass, or the Wolf concept in Twilight Princess, but he's willing to take things in a unique direction. You can say he's just flaunting a bunch of gimmicks, but it's what gives the games a new taste and a new experience.
As long as Skyward Sword is very adventurous, I'll be thoroughly pleased. I want more effort put into the side missions and more interactivity in the towns.
The way I see it, Skyward Sword may heavily take place in Skypiea- Er, some sky towns, and I sure hope they weren't as drab as the one in Twilight Princess. -
The worst part of Twilight Princess was the town definitely.
We had one real town and it felt empty even with fifty hundred people in it.Best town is still Clock Town of course.
-
Seriously what were they thinking with the Wolf Link thing in TP.
That was a dumb idea you'd see in Sonic rather than Zelda.
-
We DID see it in Sonic.
-
I'm trying to erase that from my memories.
Back when I was following Sonic Unleashed I hoped the whole thing with the Werehog was just a sick joke by ST.
To my sorrow, it wasn't.
-
@JERK:
Best town is still Clock Town of course.
This is a correct opinion. I'm holding out for a real-life replica of Clock Town someday, somewhere in the world. I could visit it, and then I could die happily.
-
So you are just an fanboy drone like you so vigorously denied a few pages back.
No, no and no. Wtf is wrong with you?
Am I a Zelda fan? Yes, as i stated a page ago.
Am I a fanboy drone? Fuck you and no.
Obviously there is something wrong with liking every Zelda game.
Was every Zelda game flawless and perfect? Hell no.
Did I enjoy playing every Zelda game? Yes.
Was I ever mad at a Zelda game for stupid mechanics and boring quests? Yes.
Ridiculous.
-
Call something mediocre you pussy.
-
@JERK:
Call something mediocre
Your life expectancy is mediocre.
you pussy.
Well…I am what I eat.

Jerk Disease, I'm pretty sure it's in all of the people's best interest for you to at least stay on topic of Skyward Sword and to stop trolling. If you want to talk about general Zelda, we have a thread for that (and if we don't, feel free to make one), even though admittingly, I did go off topic a little myself.
I know your name is Jerk Disease, but no one wants an outbreak of that.

You obviously don't know who he is. Your talking to a wall at this point…no rather your feeding him...
FYI. Don't tell trolls not to troll...it's just going to bring more trolling....best thing to do is ignore em' if they are annoying you.
I don't ignore him because believe it or not, I like the dude.

Ah, so that's why your Oracle rants sounded familiar.
Speaking of Skyward Sword, there was little actually shown about the sword/fairy that was on that Zelda design that was shown at last years E3. I was expecting something around that, at least.
-
@JERK:
Yeah I was, that account got Miserable Usered.
I use a magic 8-ball to decide your fate every week.
Uhhmmm… cool, another Zelda for Wii.
-
More lives than I thought. The pages are gonna' get crowded.
On the topic of locations, I love Clock Town, but to be blunt, this old warrior would trade that, the Shadow Temple (my favorite part of OoT) and the ending of Link's Awakening just for a chance to slash his way through the Dark World again.
One of big downers of TP (heh heh, TP) is that it got my hopes up that I would be getting something like that again, but instead it was more of a ghost realm rather than a whole 'nother world (minus Midna's Palace, of course). -
I want another good undeath dungeon. Earth Temple and Arbiter's Grounds didn't pull it off entirely.
More of this please.
