@Vongola_Boss_XI:
Did they really pull down the message about running current chapters? If Viz does this to OP fans after finally saying they might give us something…I'd be pretty annoyed. I mean, to cancel it all over 1 episode leaking out? That would freakin' suck. You know what, if Viz instead decides to continue through Jaya / Skypiea 3 chapters at a time, that's it, I'd be done with the magazine. The only reason I was going to renew my subscription is because of the current OP chapters...but if they don't do it, I'm not re-subscribing.
Well Simon & Schuster also pulled down the volume 23 listing for December and aaa anime put up January listings of Gintama, Shaman King, and a few others....nothing past volume 22 is up for One Piece...would they really wait until February to release volume 23 even though the chapters will end in August? That's crazy. If they continue the 3 volume a year release, I'm going to stop buying all manga from them, which is saying a lot as I own a few hundred of their volumes. If they don't do this, they could seriously go under when Naruto ends. It's ridiculous to put all their eggs in one basket. I mean, Naruto will probably end in 2 - 3 years max. What are they going to do after that?
On the one hand I seriously doubt one person ceasing to buy their manga would seriously affect their sales - you would have to be one of several hundred or thousand to make Viz take notice.
Second, we don't actually know whether or not Viz is planning on backing out of it. I have no idea how good or not good Viz is about contact with its fans but if you're that concerned about it, e-mail or call Viz, or contact them at a convention (which, Viz doesn't seem to be as easily accessible at conventions like Funimation is. I think the only distributors I saw at AB this year were Funimation and Media Blasters).
Keep in mind that there was an intention to do this in the first place, so something STILL might happen.
And the press release might have just been taken down because of the mess on Funimation's side of the promotion - why advertise something that is "on hold"?
