If Teach were capable of using Ambition, let alone having the "King's Disposition," he wouldn't have stayed with the Whitebeard Pirates for 20 years at minimum for the Yami Fruit.
Theories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
-
-
Blackbeard is a power hungry animal, it makes sense for him to still stay, think about it, he fought and scarred Shanks, so he is obviously powerful in his own right, so, he probably wanted the devil fruit too, more power=good
-
No…he was only sticking with them since the Whitebeard Pirates were the best chance he had of finding it. Teach managed to get it so he left like he always intended to.
And Teach isn't power-hungry; he even stated himself that had he not been able to obtain the Yami Fruit that he'd be perfectly fine with staying under Newgate's command i.e. ultimately willing to accept a lesser role. Not something a "power-hungry animal" as you put it, would admit to do.

He never said that.

Yes…he did. Chapter 440:

Blackbeard: …shit...
Hahh... hahh...
...zehahahaha...
Yeah, I got it, Ace.
You wanna kill me, is that it?
...of course you do... Mate-killing is a terrible crime.
True, I did indeed kill
The 4th Squad Commander Satch...!!
But I had to...
He got his hands on the Devil Fruit I wanted!!
The ship's rule was: You found it, you got to eat it.
I memorized the shape of every fruit in the book.
So I could tell it was the one I always wanted, from the moment I saw it.
The only reason I spent those decades on Whitebeard's crew
was because I knew it would give me the best chance to find it.
If I didn't have the luck, that would be that.
But we DID find it, and it landed in my friend's hands...!!!Ace: ...so you killed Satch... and took it.
Blackbeard: It was on the spur of the moment, Ace. These powers chose ME.
Zehahaha!!! With that, I became the strongest man around!!!
Take a look... These powers are unique, even among Logias...!!!Now unless you have a better meaning for the above, next please.
-
Yes…he did. Chapter 440:
Now unless you have a better meaning for the above, next please.
He said no such thing, not even remotely close. Try again.
-
Guess I have to spoon-feed the information now; should've known than to expect better…
If I didn't have the luck, that would be that.
But we DID find it, and it landed in my friend's hands…!!!Now again I ask you: what would be your interpretation of the first line if not what I stated if you even have one?
-
No. The rightful conclusion would be that since the King's Will is said to be rare, everyone and their mother having it woud be stupid.
You make no fucking sense.

You depict him a little bit more friendly that he actually is,
Sure he has values and would have no problem to serve under Whitebeard if he didn't get the darkness-fruit. But for me it looked like the only reason he searched for the fruit, was to become powerful enough to make it on his own.
So he was searching for the fruit for one reason: Power.
I don't know what he wants to use his power for, his true motives are still rather obscure to me.
But it looks like one of them is to "conquer the world". Atleast that's what he told Ace before their fight. -

If he hadn't gained the fruit that would be that, there's no way to know what he would've done. I severely doubt he would just stay in WBs crew and would not try to do anything on his own. Your interpretration is laughable.

He did say he was losing hope iirc so who knows.

We already know what Teach wants to become stronger and rounded up a crew for: to become Pirate King. Which is the same as I don't know… Luffy, the protagonist?

Had there be any other option in his mind it would have already been attempted. You don't spend 20+ years with one goal in mind when if that fails all the sudden many others come out of the woodwork out of nowhere in case that one fails.
Teach was relying on the acquisition of the Yami Fruit as the jumping point in his goal to become Pirate King. Had that not come to pass yes I can safely say teach would have stayed amongst the Whitebeard Pirates.
Now unless you bring something to the table aside from your petty complaints then you're not being very convincing.

I don't think King's Haki allows the user to rob a Fruit user of said powers completely when touched. If Blackbeard does have Kings Haki. It would still make sense for Blackbeard to search, want to obtain the Yami Fruit for obvious reasons.

It doesn't, otherwise there would be no difference between the Yami Fruit and Ambition.
Had Teach already been able to use Ambition and was capable of physical contact with logias I wouldn't see the point of searching out the Yami Fruit. So he can disable Power Users completely? I'd agree with that if that particular Devil Fruit were given two some two-bit antagonist that wasn't hyped up as much as Teach has been.
If he does have the ability to use Ambition at all I'd honestly be surprised.
EDIT: @Thousand:

Within the context of the dialouge that wouldn't make any sense.

If he does have the ability to use Ambition at all I'd honestly be surprised. To disable fruit users completely when touched is exactly why Blackbeard wanted the fruit, and that fruit power is one of the strongest powers shown in One Piece. The Yami Fruit, isn't something for a two-bit antagonist, thats a power for a top tier player, because of the risk. Blackbeard having Haki would not surprise me, being where he has been in the world.

That wasn't what I was getting at in my post so…okay?

Within the context of the dialouge that wouldn't make any sense.
It would make sense, your theory makes less sense.
Also saying Blackbeard doesn't have haki is stupid. The guy was the first one to mention it in the series, is a D, and obviously has ambitions. Now why would Blackbeard want some fruit if you can just accomplish the same thing with Haki? It's a retcon or Haki really can't accomplish that much. I'd go with the latter.
-
I think BB has the King Ambition. He seems he will end up as the series penultimiate rival for Luffy and his aim is to be the Pirate King. That's a "King's" Ambition right their. He is aiming for the top of the pirate world. So him having a Hauoshou haki isn't to unrealistic. He was on WB ship for 20 years. He was also the first person in the series to notice that Luffy had a amazing Haki ability when he met him in Jaya. So he knows what haki is. As for why he waited for the Yami Yami Fruit. Haki only allows you to attack Logias. Yet they still have full control of their powers. The Darkness Fruit is above what haki can do since it not only lets you attack them but it negates their ability whenever you hold them. It's basically a Seatone DF.
If he didn't find the fruit he most likely would've continued on with his plan to become Pirate King just without the Darkness Fruit. All he was doing on WB's ship was buying time until he found his trump card. As soon as he got found it, he took action. He killed WB's nakama even though that meant retribution from WB crew. And started his quest to find himself a worthy enough bounty to become a Schichibukai. All the stuff he is doing is just a means to an end. And that's for him to eventually become the Pirate King which is his true ambition.
-
What if he never heard about the Yami Fruit again? If he dedicated two freaking decades just to wait for it, I doubt he'd just give up.
-
It would make sense, your theory makes less sense.
So thinking Teach went so far out of his way to be able to make physical contact with Power Users by getting a Devil Fruit because he may not have had a knack for the only other ability(Ambition) that allows for such a thing doesn't make sense.
Alright got it coach.

Saul was a D., Ace is a D. But did they ever show signs of Ambition?
No.
Not everyone who's a D. is guaranteed to have it. If he does then oh well, but then it makes spending so much time searching for the Yami Fruit seem redundant.
Also, I've never said Ambition and the Yami Fruit do the exact same things if you read my posts correctly. But I'm probably asking too much out of you huh.

on jaya he just said that "a man's dream will never die", there was nothing about haki. And just because you think that he will be the penultimate rival for luffy doesn't mean he have the king's ambition. That would also be a little unimagative imo, since there are different kinds of haki. The haoushoku is one of the rarest and not everybody who is strong or wants to be pirate king has it.
And where does it say that he was on WB ship for 20 years? As for why he waited for the Yami Yami Fruit. Haki only allows you to attack Logias. Yet they still have full control of their powers. you still don't know what the full extent of both abilities is, so you can't say that one thing can only do this or that.
And the yami yami no mi can do much more than just negate devil fruit abilities, so it's not a seastone fruit. -

You're looking at the wrong Jaya part. You're talking about the whole bar scene where Bellamy poured beer on Luffy. And then BB was outside and did the whole dream's sppech. I'm talkng about the part a couple chapters later when Luffy already kicked Bellamy's ass and it shows BB and his crew when they find Luffy's Bounty. That's when BB makes the haki comment. FYI Large Man is BlackBeard. Ambition is haki translated.
Stephen's Translation from v.25 - Page 163 - Large Man: Hundred million... I thought thirty was odd for a kid with such ambition, but THIS...!! Pirate: Vhat vill ve do, Captain?! Sarquiss: Hey, you swine!! Don't get your chunky ass in my way!! I'm in a really bad mood right now. Large Man: SHUT UP!!! I got nothin' to do with you small-timers...!!! We've been lookin' for a man worth a hundred million or more!!! Zehahaha!!! This is our chance to hit the big time!!!
As for your haoushaku comment. Yes it is rare but 10 people can still have it and it'll still be considered the rarest haki. The amazon comment was 1 in a million can have it. If say there's 10 million people in the OP world. That still makes the 1 in a million comment true doesn't it. While the other forms of haki are less rare. Like say there's 5 different levels of haki.
Lowest is 1 in 50 people
2nd Lowest is 1 in 1,000 people.
Middle Level is 1, 10,000 people
4th highest is 1 in 100,000 people
Hauoshou haki is 1 in a million.See it'll still be the rarest form. I was using 10 million as an example, if there's say 100 million people are in the OP world then 100 people can have it and the statement would still be true. BB having the king's haki isn't proven but I assume he does. It would be great to see Luffy's opponent having the same haki as him. So the whole haki advantage would be negated and the winner would be decided on true skill or whoever can use their DF better.
And where does it say that he was on WB ship for 20 years?
From Stephen's translation chapter 440. - Page 205 - Blackbeard: ...shit... Hahh... hahh... ...zehahahaha... Yeah, I got it, Ace. You wanna kill me, is that it? ...of course you do... It says decades so it may be higher than 20. Could be 30 or 40. Don't change my point that BB was waiting for a long ass time for that moment.
you still don't know what the full extent of both abilities is, so you can't say that one thing can only do this or that.
And the yami yami no mi can do much more than just negate devil fruit abilities, so it's not a seastone fruit.I'm not saying it's a seastone fruit. It is the Darkness Fruit. I was doing a simile. Where it's negating powers closely resemble what a Seastone Fruit would do it. When a Seastone touches a DF user they become weak and Logia's become hittable. Which is what happened during the Ace vs. BB fight. When BB touched Ace he was physically hittable and felt weak. Just like how a seastone effects DF users. From what we've seen of haki usage so far and assuming haki usage was what Rayleigh used to hit Kizaru. All that happened was Kizaru was hittable but he didn't suffer the weakness side effects. Having a DF (Darkness Fruit) that allows you to touch a Logia and negate their powers at the same time is alot more useful than a ability (haki) that let's you only hit them while at the same time they still have full use of their abilities. And I never said the "Seastone" negating power was all the Darkness Fruit did. So I don't know why you're going on with your whole there's more to it than the Seastone negating aspect arguement. He did chose it though since it has unique characteristics compared to all the other Logia fruits.

What are babbling about?
First of all it's not even confirmed that haki can bypass all DF or any at all, second derp.
Saul was a D., Ace is a D. But did they ever show signs of Ambition?
No.

It wasn't directed at you coach. But I'll rebut.
1. Being a D. imo enhances your chance of having haki, I have no basis of this.
2. Or we just don't have enough info on Haki? -
@ Phoenix - Uh…Ace didn't feel weak just by touching Teach.
It was the beating he gave him soon afterwards that did that.
EDIT: @h3h3h3:
What are babbling about?
First of all it's not even confirmed that haki can bypass all DF or any at all, second derp.
How do you think Sandersonia managed to actually inflict pain on Luffy when she had him wrapped up if you don't mind me asking.
It wasn't directed at you coach.
Ah…figured it did since nothing suggested otherwise. Plus I was the one who said Teach doesn't have Ambition.
But hey my mistake right.
-
@ Phoenix - Uh…Ace didn't feel weak just by touching Teach.
It was the beating he gave him soon afterwards that did that.
Yeah the assbeating did do something to make Ace feel like shit but BB did say that Ace felt his DF power leave him when he touched him.
Stephen's Translation chapter 441 - Page 19 - Ace: Gahff!! Blackbeard: Zehahahahahaha!! Ace: (scrape...) Blackbeard: How long has it been since someone really HIT you, huh...?! You understood the instant I grabbed you, didn't ya?!! ...one OTHER thing my darkness can absorb... Ace: (clunk...) Blackbeard: Is Devil Fruit Powers!!! When contacting my body, you become unable to use your powers for that time!!
Negating Powers and hitting a Logia >>>>>>>>>>>>> Hitting a full powered Logia. Now you see why this power works better than just haki. And let's say BB does have Haki. This is a big advantage he has now over other haki users. Or if say WB is a DF user. He has a DF which could temporary negate whatever DF Whitebeard has.
-
Guess I have to spoon-feed the information now; should've known than to expect better…
If I didn't have the luck, that would be that.
But we DID find it, and it landed in my friend's hands…!!!Now again I ask you: what would be your interpretation of the first line if not what I stated if you even have one?
I doubt that Blackbeard meant that he would have just stuck with Whitebeard if he had not found the fruit. "that would be that" just means the Whitebeard commander would be left alone and Ace would not have been pissed. Blackbeard would have likely just looked for alternative ways to get powerful, wait longer or leave the crew in search of his own fame.
HE would NOT just sit quietly and stay a small fry in Whitebeard's crew. Remember Jaya? He dreams big, and would do anything to accomplish that dream.

Coming to think of it, Phnoglype in Alabasta is being protected by Nefeteri Family.
Wouldn't that be illigal and consdered offence to the World Goverment?
What if Crocodile testimony aginst alabasta royal family? whould there be another Ohara incident (but with millions of people this time)?
With crocodile's reappearence and nakama's seperation, this could be the next stop to SH's journey.
Unless Dragon gets to Alabasta first and bring revolution -
About the BB dreams and haki discussion:
I think BB realised that without the darkness fruit he would have been unable to realise his dream. Then he would have stayed a WB pirate his whole life. A silver medallist. The point is that BB knows much better the NW and the 4 yonkous.
And he isn't dumb he became a WB pirate just to have better chances to find the darkness fruit. That alone means:- There are powerful DF users out there that BB can't beat without that fruit.
- There might be strong haki users who might alos have a DF. Which means that attacks from them imbued with haki are too much for BB without the darkness fruit.
- We don't know why WB is the strongest human in the OP world.
BB isn't stupid and won't throw away his life just because he hasn't found the key to make his move… He would have stayed on WBs ship until he finds the fruit he wants to have. That alone shows us that he has a lot of patience and he is really sneaky.
-
1. i think that luffy will meet again with smoker since smoker is busting his butt in gaining a high rank in order to pursue luffy
2. nico olivia uncovered the void century but was not informed to her fellow archaeologists because the Buster Call was in right in Ohara's face
there are so many mysteries left in OP that's why it's exciting!

Whitebeard was the only one able to equal the Pirate King.

And we don't know why. Basically we don't know his power. That may explain why BB wanted that fruit so much.

What if he never about the Yami Fruit again? If he dedicated two freaking decades just to wait for it, I doubt he'd just give up.
Giving up is for people who DON'T wait several years in hopes of something that has a low chance of happening.
Sanji-kun, it hurts my face thinking about how stupid you are. Smoker DENIED a higher rank and has been persuing Luffy the whole time. Were you high on meth while watching the Alabasta arc?

Iva will turn Ace into a women and replace him with Bon Kurei who volunteers

Since this is no dumb prediction
and I had no time to read about 140 pages of this thread, I'd like to post a theory about Tashigi:
What if she really is Kuina?
My speculations:
-Kuina was an awesome sword fighting kid and the WG took notice from her.
-They wanted to hire kids with obviously good fighting skills to form them to strong soldiers for marine and/or WG in the future.
-They brainwashed her so she lost her memories (easy for scientists like Vegapunk) and faked her death for some unknown reason.
-Unknown reason could be: Maybe her father didn't like that plan of the WG, for some whatsoever-reason, so they did that all by themselves.
-It could be done by some CP (I estimate a lower CP like 1 to 5, since the mission wasn't THAT important) or ordinary WG-agents like the fat Corgy (not CoBy!).
-They could have kidnapped her and let some weak double die or they paid the blacksmith to tell a lie about Kuina's death.
I know this is a far fetched theory with many speculations, but it's a THEORY, THAT DOESN'T DESERVE ITS OWN THREAD, so I wanted to post it here. And maybe we can even discuss it a little bit.
Post your pros and cons about that theory if you want to. -
Unfortunately, it's a cop-out that, if true, Zoro would eventually discover; which would completely distroy his death-defying ambition. All his injuries would start to matter and he would inevitably die.
And since Tashigi has boobs, that would be bad. There's no way she can beat Mihawk with those damn boobs in the way.
-
Just wonndering why spoilers discussion Become private
-
There's always been Kuina = Tashigi theories, but I give you credit for the mindwashing angle.
Problems: Why leave the sword. It's one of the best in the world.
Why leave a double in the first place. It be a lot easier to hide her then to find a double capable of fooling her own father. And if he was in one it no reason to leave the sword or claim she was dead. He could have just claimed she was staying with family.
Finally she seems way to week to be a a government project. No reason to waste so much effort for her. Or at least the her we last saw.

nice point of view. i didn't pay attention to the fact that Zoro'd lose his ambition, if she were still alive.
I know it's an old theory.
Just gathered some reasonable speculations before i posted that.

Post your pros and cons about that theory if you want to.Nice theory. But if WG is capable of brainwashing, then why haven't they done that to the priosners, such as Jinbei, Ace,v.v…....Well, my explanation would be: they can only brainwash kids.
However, I still think this theory is unlikely. Because if so, the only choice for Zoro is to kill Kuina. And you know, killing off such important character is not what Oda would likely to do.
But it's kinda interesting. May I write a fanfic based on it? -
Kuina is dead, that's it.

@The:
Hi all. I'm new. Hope I will have many nakama here.
Nice theory. But if WG can brainwash, then why don't they do that to the priosner, such as Jinbei, Ace,v.v…....Well, my explaination: they can only brainwash kids.
However, I still don't think this theory would come true. Because if so, the only choice for Zoro is to kill Kuina. And you know, Oda don't kill the important characters.
But it's interesting. May I write a fanfic base on it?you can do whatever the f*ck you want, but if you're new, be careful creating new threads, better look for a fanfic thread that already exists.
Yeah, kids could be brainwashed, because their "spirit" is weak at young age.
i know it's a far-fetched, hardly-come-true-theory.
thatfor it's A THEORY, like "Vegapunk's laboratory or Magellan's WC-drain down at Lv. 6"… -
An idea that I've seen kicked around is that Mr. 2 might end up denouncing Ivankov, similar to Chopper doing the same with Dr. Hogback, as forcibly switching unwilling people's genders like he does would go against his idealistic view of the Okama Way. He was kind of like ''Whoa…'' in an uncertain kind of way when Ivankov demonstrated that ability, and seeing how he's more than a little bit psycho, I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. 2 gets put off. Especially if it happens to his dear Straw-chan.

what do u think iva-san's power is does he have a devil fruit which turn everything into opposites… or does he have hakki... what ever his power it is certainly strong enough to make a uetopia within the prison
also i don't know if this theory has come up in this thread probably already has cos it's a really long one.... but i think kuma is a good guy... or atleast has a strong connection with monkey d dragon because he had 2 opportunities to kill luffy and didn't take them and sent luffy's crew to places where they can enhance their power's
second question what do u guy's think happened to the remaining supernova... and silver rayleigh????
i have a feeling that kidd got a away cos his ability has something to do with magnetism and the pacifista are made of metal.... and law also has the ability to get away

I have an interesting theory about how Haki works. The OP world is just a simulation. And there is another dimension where there are "higher beings" who simulate the world of OP and every living beings in it.
Those who have haki are able to temporary hack the code of other people. Some of them have the power to temporary modify the OP world physics giving them more power and doing more damage.
If you have a temp access to the other dimension in the OP world you can temporary disconnect the opponent from the system. That's what is happening when people like luffy or rayleigh make a haki burst. The stronger an opponent is teh stronger his defense are in the simulation machine so that you cannot disconnect him anymore. -
So essentially a mash-up of pirates, .hack, and Star Ocean?

well, that seems to me to happen hardly. Iva turned one dude into a girl against his will. and i think he did that only because that dude threatened (written correctly?) Iva's life.
Iva also cured a lot o' people out there, so i think at the bottom line Iva is a good one. and bon knows that.
He's also thankful, cause iva began to heal Luffy long before Bon was even able to ask for Luffy's cure.
Bon will remember that for good. -
True, but the same did happen to Hogback, miracle maker that he was. Still, this isn't my theory, just something interesting I heard. Though Ivankov himself openly declared himself to not be a nice person, and he's apparently ruined people in the past. It's just something to ponder over, nothing more.
