Maybe that’s exactly it :ninja:

Yeah, it seems so. Rocks could be either their crew's name or their captain's name. In japanese, it is ambiguous.
Since the start of this chapter, everything indicates that BM and Kaido were indeed in the same crew. So, their captain should have been even more powerful than them. Even more powerful than the strongest creature. That's the legend Oda was talking about in last year's Jump Festa.
Indeed. However, I thought BM was basically reigning as her own boss based on what we saw in the last arc.
Another thing that just crossed my mind: When she talked to Luffy for the first time she said ”Oh, Garp’s grandson” (iirc). I thought that line meant something, that she on a more personal level knew about Garp. Him breaking her (first?) crew could have been just that.
hell are the rocks
My first impression, based on what Hina says, is that maybe BM and Kaido were part of the same crew… or that this is some sort of faction we have never heard of before that grows in power.
I thought Garp had technically retired from these sort of duties (i.e. marine work). Old man doesn’t know when to quit.
Quite late to the thread and quite many pages already, so I'm grateful if someone could fill me in:
I noticed in the spoiler thread that it apparently did not show any preview (or something else…) about One Piece for next week, yet the chapter made no mention of a break. Has this been cleared up? Has either been confirmed; no chapter or will there be one?
Cool? Maybe.
Satisfying? No.
I meant satisfying in the way this scene (so to speak) played out, since they mentioned shooting lasers, as a pay off for these particular panels. Though, perhaps you got that part and was saying no to that, too :D
Greg, wouldn’t you agree that the payoff of Sanji using it and shooting lasers would be extremely satisfying? :)
At least if it happens a few years from now (real time). Then we can all look back at that moment when Luffy and Chopper suggested it.
Of course, he would only use it to save a woman.
@All:
Oh, I didn't notice your post in the spoiler thread. Didn't read the thread entirely. Then again, it's not an uncommon line of thought.
Pfft you are lucky I didn’t trademark it!
Actually, I could totally see a way in which Sanji uses the raidsuit in a really satisfying way! Similar to how we have seen Luffy powered up (e.g. hypnotized, Nightmare mode, wearing an afro).
Picture this, say 3 or so years from now: the Strawhats are in trouble. Nami and Robin are in big trouble. Sanji is trying to save them, alas the big baddy blast him with an attack that seemingly no normal human could have survived. The enemy is closing in on our maidens (actually, let’s throw in Carrot as well). Nami, Robin and Carrot are about to perish, and Sanji has been vanquish- pew! A laser comes out of nowhere! ”F-franky?!”
”No. It is I, mr Prince” Sanji says, wearing the raid suit, holding a cigarette.
”Just what do you think you are doing to my waifus?”
Calling it now. 2018-04-28.
It's bad idea… No matter how you twist it.
I don’t mind it if you look at it this way: his biological family doesn’t actually look down on him; they see him worthy to be their peer. That isn’t quite a development for Sanji, but rather for Germa.
To me, that isn’t too bad in terms of how it plays a role in the story.
Morgans saying that a "5th emperor has emerged" doesn't mean that he is an emperor now or that he is considered one, but that it's on his way to become one in the future..
Yeah, pretty much this. I do, however, hope to see what the politicians have to say in the upcoming chapter about this. Could be that they agree with Morgans’/the newspaper’s statement, or they could say that it is being blown out of proportion. Afterall, headlines are a big part of what sells a story. Not that I mean we necessarily can apply real life economixx to OP, but it can be considered as a legitimate factor as to why it would go as far as to call Luffy just that.
On another note: Luffy has the highest known bounty in the series now! This is a first, isn’t it?
I just remember when GolD.Ace22, Melker, Razh, Watch-Man, Sereques, accesstimeco, SeaofHope, Lord Monkey D, Blissed, otakufan, Megaman and a large list of people in this forum claimed constantly that i was wrong. Raid suit finally is coming! That proves that Sanji needed an upgrade to fight stronger enemies (maybe Admiral levels?). Strawhats are a new generation of pirates more related to technologies (like us Millenials) who takes also the bests things from "old school" pirates. Thanks for the support!
Not really a fan of Sanji getting one of those fancy smancy raid suits. But our chef sure seem to need some assistance…
I found myself saying this in one of my old posts. Never saying you, or anyone, being wrong. Simply sharing my view of it.
So, stop slandering me and those people in that big list of yours.
I hope that the reverie thing will make a clear statement whether if they acknowledge Luffy as an emperor or not. After all, just because the newspaper said so it doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. Blackbeard did not acknowledge him as an emperor (yet, that is).
How dare I question the newspaper, you ask? For one: I think they may have overstated how great Luffy is with conspiring and executing actual plans.

Wait, me? I can’t recall ever saying that it downright would never happen?
@All:
Pretty great chapter.
Gonna repost this from the spoiler thread:
The fact that Sanji got a Raid suit, I don't like.
BUT
If we try to look at all angles as to why Oda made Sanji to receive one, I think he is trying to drive home the thought that Germa 66 has finally acknowledged Sanji as a strong enough fighter to have a Raid suit on his own. His brothers giving him a Raid suit pretty much means that they have gone from perceiving Sanji as a failure weakling to perceiving him as a fighter worthy enough to obtain a Raid suit.
All that's left is how Oda will make the inevitable scene of Sanji wearing his Raid suit to be an acceptable one. It has to be in a situation where it's not only threatening Sanji's lives, but his friends/crew too. A situation where he is willing to swallow his pride and use the technology given by the family he loathes so much for the sake of protecting something/someone. Me personally, I don't want his eventual suit-up scene to be a come back moment after receiving a beating any less than what Luffy got against Katakuri. He has to be pushed to his very limit on a very high stake even higher than just his life before he decides to use the Raid suit as a last resort. Only then would wearing a Raid suit be acceptable for Sanji. Let the Raid suit be Sanji's Snakeman moment.
Pfft copying me much? Here is my repost!
About Sanji and the raid suit:
This is a story. If something happens/is presented, it usually is for a reason. This has significance, whether if you like the idea or not - Sanji might be suiting up at some point. I myself would have, prior to this, shrugged off the idea (although not completely denying the possibility).
With that said, I would say the significance of the suit is this to the story:
A) It is a tool for Sanji to use; something to enhance his combat abilities. If he ever does use it, I imagine it would be to save Nami and/or Robin in a serious situation, where lives’ are at stake. That’s just my personal speculation if it were to happen
B) It is a way for Oda to tell us his biological family respects him, and dare I say, see him as one of them? While Sanji, at this time, does not have mutual feelings in that regard, will perhaps at one point ”forgive them”/simply be neutral about their past history. In this case, the raid suit is more of a symbolic thing to the story and possibly won’t be used.
C) Both of the above.
D) Or, the most obvious: it has a 3 written on it. You guessed it. Mr. 3 is about to get even more lit.
If anything, the only argument I'd consider to be valid is the fact he decided to take a snack during the fight :D
As for Brulee's words, I'd say that mangastream felt more clear than jaiminis this time around.
@All:
Greg, a lot of people think Katakuri lost on purpose just because he deliberately fell backwards. Any thoughts on this?
Oh come on. We, intellectuals in Greg's thread, knows that just bad manga-reading on those peoples' part.
-big mom's plan to deal with the strawhats makes no goddamn sense. They are the only ones that can convince sanji not to marry, yet they allow them to go as far as whole cake island, even giving them a map, instead of just sending the fleet to deal with them at sea and sink them..or just blow up the sunny when it's harbored at cacao island trapping them on the island until the marriage is done.
-why a glutton like big mom would wait so much to eat her precious wedding cake when there was not going to be a wedding in the first place? it would have made sense if the cerimony was actually real, but since she was not she was free to eat the cake whenever she wanted.
I kind of disagree with first point that I quoted, but definitely disagree with the second. Other than that, those examples are legit imo. I'd even add the fact that Luffy not using CoC against their army was rather weird, and also that it wasn't used way earlier during his fight against Katakuri against thicc bubble girl and her gang. The latter could perhaps be explained by that Katakuri wouldn't have given him the chance to, but oh well.
To me it was alright.
Was nice to have Beige fleshed out; now I got a good feel of his character, and was able to get some enjoyment out of the interactions with him. For instance, now towards the end, it was so like him to suggest putting bombs/poison in the cake, but when he tried it he just couldn’t do it. That was funny. Also enjoyed the effect milk had on Luffy and Brook.
But there is a lot of nitpicking I could go on with. At least there weren’t any string clones nor energy steroids to ruin the arc for me completely. Definitely had too much of those fake outs/twists. ”Pudding is nice. OR IS SHE?! She is bad! OR IS SHE?!Actually, she is misunderstood and bullied by her family”. Or is she?! Yeah probably the latter. The ship being switched out was complete bs as well.
Overall I had fun, like I tend to have with One Piece. Alas the arc had plenty of things that was not pleasing to me.
This is not about my point, but your point "_To be fair, we saw people trying to take down Crocodile himself. Nothing new to in OP to have retarded, nameless characters doing retarded things in order to display named characters’ names and/or traits."
Right now, that point is wrong, because the example that was used to prove it, is not correct. If you still want to keep what you said, you have to change the proof, or by using another example or by other manner._
Trying to make sure I didn’t misinterpret your point of the original post. If I had, then maybe it would make quite sense to criticize what I wrote in response to it.
But you appear to be quite a rude person, so we can just drop this.
A bad example, is just what it is, a bad example. It doesn't matter if it is just one example or not. You were wrong. Instead of wanting to save face, please enlight me and tell me a "minimally acceptable" example.
Your point in a nut shell: those characters were retarded for attacking those kids. Correct?
The guys from Crocodile were outside pirates making names of themselves, basically what Luffy and the Strawhats did. Opposite to that this ones are people that lived in the place. Also Crocodile was a Shichibukai with a bounty previously of 80 Millions, the weakest of them. Big Mom had for what would seem at least half of her life, at that time, a bounty of at least Half a Billion. Not the same thing at all.
Crocodile was merely an example. Do you actually want to argue that this is something new?
I will not talk about Katakuri, because he is a horribly made and messy character. Instead I'm gonna talk about his flashback and people here talking about at that time Big Mom not having territory.
Are people here totally forgetting Big Mom flashback? Like, it was in this arc, and it was an important part of it. Did you forgot that we were shown her conquering a kingdom and disposing of its king? And when she was at most a teenager?
In Katakuri flashback, assuming he had 8 years, she had 28, the time where Oda draw her most beatifull version. So obviously after conquering at least one kingdom. Assuming that she was in a quest to achieve her dream inhereted by mother caramel, almost certain she already had a ton of other territories. So yes, when those kids were insulting Katakuri and wounded Brullee they were in Big Mom Territory and she at least had already 500 Million bounty, probably already one of the strongest and most wanted persons in the world.
So yep, just like the messy Katakuri's characterization, those kids insulting and wounding the sister of someone way stronger than them, and that has a parent of such monstrous reknown and strength, were also written in such a messy way. They had to be absolutely retarded, and they are, for doing what they did.
To be fair, we saw people trying to take down Crocodile himself. Nothing new to in OP to have retarded, nameless characters doing retarded things in order to display named characters’ names and/or traits.
But of course, can’t argue with the fact how it is technically retarded :)
Just stop trying to argue with the people who are suggesting Katakuri lost on purpose. It is obvious what happened with both translations available (jaiminis and ms), so if it isn’t clear at this point, don’t bother. Discuss if Pedro is dead instead.
If the arc really is over, as in over-over, I suggest we have a moment of silence for Pekoms.
Katakuri flashback and his tragedy shown? Nakama confirmed.
I’m late to the party, so maybe this has been talked about already, but here it goes:
BM said she wanted Luffy’s soul in order to make powerful homies. Can she do that? When Jinbe was asked to stay or die, neither worked since he wasn’t afraid of her. Is that always true or can she force a soul out from someone as selfish as Luffy?
This is more likely than any of them dying or the ship being destroyed:
Doflamingo escaped captivity, flew across the sky to Tottoland, made a string clone out of everyone and the ship just before the explosion and said: The one who will defeat Strawhat… is me! Although I am now a changed man and will only do so as his rival for the Pirate King throne.
This sort of cliffhanger isn't at all interesting to me. Don't know how all of you guys feel, but it's obvious that no Strawhat was harmed in the making of that scene. Cliffhangers that do get to me are those just before a fight is concluded or some unknown character appears. I don't mind if we change location for months (real time) now before going back here.
The fleet was surrounding the island, all they did was circle around it and corner the Straw Hats as they fled. And this ship was already familiar to us, all they did was send it there. How is that remotely an ass pull? They realised the Straw Hats had to be dealt with at all costs a few chapters ago already, so they sent all the forces they could muster.
No, no! It's a reverse ass pull!
There are so many reverse ass pulls being performed by the BMP now. Like, a fleet showing up out of nowhere and then a big ship. Jeez.
This chapter was bullshit. Jinbe wasn’t on the color spread!
@S.C.:
Luffy: Is probably constipated regularly, since he eats only meat.
Although, I imagine he could quite easily take the biggest dumps in the OP-verse. His rectum can most likely stretch quite a bit.
Felt wrong to write that.
Has Usopp ever fallen for a lie?
Has someone out-eaten Luffy?
Did someone ever outgrow Robin in her youth?
Last one is a pun. Can’t really think of much that wouldn’t be too plot related (could name a lot on that subject!)
not much to discuss, that tongue is clearly real and not drew
It does look quite elaborate, though I’d say it is still speculation. Other than the face it looks rather bland.
could be a homie too
I think it is highly unlikely that there’d be a homie in the care of a giant, or just anyone outside of BM’s turf.
Is Goldberg’s shield sentient (e.g. Devil fruited) or does it just have a face drawn on it? Discuss.
@Count:
It is probably related to the Adam Tree and Sunlight Tree Eve. And destroying it would make for an excellent showing of power by a Yonko such as Blackbeard.
In other words, that tree is asking for it.
Well, taken down by collateral damage or specifically targeted?
I honestly can't think of a better place for three emperors to be present than a literal giant land where that tree gotta go.
Why does the tree have to go? :(
Luffy has a scar on his chest that would suggest otherwise.
Which is why I suggested Jinbe :)
@Kaido:
If Luffy was on Sanji's back, the bullets would still hit Sanji when they push Luffy's body back. Sanji might not get penetrated by the bullets but he wouldn't be shielded either.
My point is, if it would have been someone else carrying Luffy, say Jimbei, both the rescuer and rescuee would have been fine!
3rd Big Mom Son vs 3rd Vinsmoke Son has a ring to it. Sanji winning would make his poppa proud ;) Daifuku will very likely try and stop Strawhats from escaping. I would love to see Jinbe struggling against Daifuku who attacks ship and then Sanji forcing him off Sunny and their fight continuing with Sanji winning it and Big Mom eating his cake taking place in one chapter number 900.
I agree that it would be quite satisfying, but imo on one hand it deserves a little bit more than two chapters but on the other hand they need to get out of there :D
On a somewhat serious note: do we ”have time” for another major fight, i.e. Sanji vs. Daifuku? I’d like to see it, but they way things are not it would just come off as odd to me since they are rushing to get away and I can’t imagine a short encounter between the two would do them justice.
And, other than Daifuku blocking their way, is there a reason to fight him? Sure, he slapped Pudding, but does Sanji remember that? :ninja:
Sanji is against an army. He cannot tell if bullet is haki imbued. Amazons had arrows imbued with it, Kizaru was once stopped in his tracks by a gun pointed at him. Haki imbued bullets are threat.
Seastone bullets were used in Impel Down if I am not mistaken.
<personal insult="" back="" at="" you="" again="" lol=""></personal>
If Sanji had been a pro he’d been able to sense those things and utilized Luffy as a rubber shield.
I’m pretty sure there has never been an instance of seastone bullets, at least not yet.
<how dare="" you?="" your="" mom="">.</how>
If someone shoots bullet imbued with haki or seastone, Luffy gets screwed more than he is I think. You seem to be not the brightest one .. ;)
Have we ever seen haki and seastone bullets? Haki bullets is probably a thing. <personal insult="" back="" at="" you="">.</personal>
I don't see why Sanji doesn't carry Luffy on his back or something. Then he wouldn't get hit by the bullets, and we know they'd just bounce off Luffy. Stupid Sanji.
I want to see Pekom’s full turtle form in both su long and normal form (if Zoan su long is a thing for minks).
Correct me if I’m wrong, but up till this point we have seen few Zoan users who can change just one (or few) limbs into animal parts. We have seen Marco do this during the war and Pekoms displayed it on FI. This gives me the impression he should be quite a competent Zoan user. So, go transformed mink ninja turtle!
Now I started to think about Sanji vs. Michael Jackson. Quality fan fiction right there.
Edit: because of moon walk talk.
I see. Good response, thanks. Was hoping he’d grown even more since that was what he did during the course of, what I believe was, some months.
We have seen his post timeskip design and he's neither. He could change it drastically from the movie design, though
Does movies count? Don’t watch any of those nor the anine; I’m a purist.
The Marines, in their entirety, are the single biggest mystery in the series to me.
It's a given what will happen with Coby but besides that, the role they'll play in all of this by the end baffles me.
Mystery as in what will indeed become of them, or mystery about what they are now/something else?
I will be very disappointed if Coby isn’t very tall and buff after the timeskip.
