Obviously Kaido will go down one way or another, but it will be bullshit. Even with teamwork (which we will of course have) it’s bullshit that Luffy couldn’t tank one hit from him. Had he been able to fet pummeled a bit, as usual, there could be a way… I doubt it will now somehow feel believable at all to fight Kaido without some new power up, which of course would feel bs. The only thing I can legit think of is Moria coming back and Nightmare Luffy 2.0 tanking Kaido.

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
Honestly what I want to know is how on Earth Luffy can power up enough in the span of a few weeks to beat a guy who doesn't even flinch at the full force of his strongest attacks and effortlessly one shots him, well not even in zoan hybrid form, or his awakened form?
maybe we get a training arc, maybe Luffy has something that he never used before because the situation was never that desperate and it could hurt his crewmates, maybe he awakens his devil fruit, maybe some will of D thing or maybe a combination of all the above lol
seriously though I'm stumped, I doubt he'll do it alone but I'm not sure who could really help him, I mean Luffy landed attacks on him that have literally shattered islands I'm not sure how much help the rest of the straw hats or law/kid can be
I feel the same way.
Imo, Oda went way too far in showing big of a difference there is between them. Luffy went g4 and hit him with so many attacks… at thia point in the story I would have liked to see such a thing actually cause damage to someone.
If it turns out that Kaido’s weapon is made out of sea stone then fine... sure... he can one shot Pound man... if not, then it’s just bs.

RE: Chapter 924 : Ha*
Ooh another mystery person!
I wonder what sort of propaganda they were showing in the newspaper, or maybe it was just a dick pick?

RE: Chapter 923: Emperor Kaidou VS Luffy
This went down as I expected, but I really didn’t want it to. Not a fan at all of this chapter.

Blackbeard should be evil, guys. He needs the Devil devil fruit :ninja:

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
Oda actually has several Rox threads of foreshadowing available.
It's whether he decides to use them or not.
1. Most commonly referenced is Shakky who was supposedly an active pirate around that time.
2. Gloriosa was supposedly in love with someone when she was younger.
3. Recently Bakkin's involvement in piracy was around then.
4. Perhaps most interestingly (and largely undiscussed) is the mysterious destruction of Boodles' original town around the time Rox is believed to have been active.
Yeah definitely. Oda could (and hopefully will) weave in things that has been previously established in the story such as the examples you have given. Hopefully without making it feel like a retcon!
Btw, was it a correct translation that those people associated with Rocxks has been on the rise recently-ish? If so, then surely it can’t be referring to BM and Kaido’s actions as they have been in their position for years. So, from that statement (if the translation is proper), is it correct to interpret that something is being stirred up by such people that are thus far unknown to us readers?
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
I actually didn't consider Rocxks could be a movie-related thing. I hope not. Something feels a bit off with it though… the way it was introduced, it seems like that it could be a current or former group of powerful people (pirates). Both Kaido and BM were most likely part of that group, as it has been revealed to us that those two are acquinted from the past - that makes sense.
So the thing that feels off about it is, if the leader/captain of the group is still around he should probably be really old, no? Age doesn't necessarily mean all that much in OP, but nevertheless, still an old-timer. Hearing about him and that group of powerful people this late into the story doesn't feel right. If they were that powerful then Oda could have foreshadowed it better (although if this is the case, he probably came up with the idea after the fact that the world's power balance had been established).
But maybe they won't play a part in the story to come; maybe it was only brought up so that we would know that Kaido and BM knew each other. Still... the chekov's gun rule...

RE: Chapter 922: Supreme Commander Kaido of the Animal Kingdom Pirates
There is so much different from the translation from Jaimini and Mangastream… Jaimini's seem to align more with how the spoilers were phrased...

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
My guess for the oni part is that it just looks cool. Can't really question too much of the stuff in One Piece :D although, I definitely do not know anything about those mythological things, so perhaps there could be some reason I am not aware of.
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
Why would people necessarily be vocal about it if they agreed? People tend to be more vocal if they don’t agree with things. You give off the impression that people who didn’t spoke about it sooner are bullshitting or bandwagoning. Maybe I read into what you said the wrong way, but it is the impression you give off to me.
I dunno. It just made really sense that Kaido would have a really impressive zoan fruit and hints to a dragon were there.
Is there any specific mythology about eastern dragons that may hint to some of his abilities? For a western dragon an obvious ability would be to breathe fire and the ability to fly. So other than flying, is there something else we could expect?
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
He also said to Brook he hated dragon because one killed people he considered as his parents. After we learn Oden was Momo’s father and Kinemon one of his retainer, there was little doubt left
Basically, Kaido’s fruit shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone :D
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
The only convincing theories I read that said Kaido would be a dragon also said he'd definitely be using clouds in the same way as Momo and would probably be an Eastern Dragon. Plus, we saw a huge Western Dragon in Punk Hazard already. Momo being a miniature version seems to have left more room for Kaido being a giant one.
Don't know why I thought he'd be a western dragon. Probably no particular reason, other than being massive/bulky. He definitely looks massive the way he is, but not bulky.
I felt that it was sufficiently foreshadowed by Kinemon when he stated that he doesn't like dragons (when he and Brooke had that stupid thing going on about who was going to kill the one on PH). And of course, it just makes sense to have someone like Kaido have a fruit like that.
Can't remember what else foreshadowed it… If I'm not mistaken Momo had something against dragons as well?
-
RE: Chapter 921: Shutenmaru
Given that Kaidou is a huge dragon I wonder what is the powerup Luffy will require to defeat him. Or rather, just a single powerup, I don't think that it will be even enough. Awakening? Nop, doesn't sound enough. Improving his CoA to Katakuri level? Nop, not enough.
Moria will join the fray and will feed Luffy a bunch of shadows, since "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". Nightmare Boundman will mess up that flying snake real good!
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
Props to you Greg-senpai, you were the first guy I heard/read to say that Kaido will have a dragon DF. And even when people shift to the Oni df after Kaido full body reveal, you stick to your idea.
RespectTo me it seemed extremely obvious that he was going to have a dragon df. Thought the clues were obvious? Although I will say I was actually expecting a western dragon, rather than an eastern.

RE: Chapter 921: Shutenmaru
Judging by jailers from ID, the awakening doesn't really affect the apperance much. Might be more to it, though.
Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
Yeah for sure. I assume awakened Zoan is always hybrid though, based on what we have seen in Impel Down.
But I guess in Kaido's case it will be even crazier if he's really a natural Dragon with a Hito-Oni fruit. So many different forms and hybrid forms he could take on, there is really a lot to explore.
I agree that those were hybrid-looking, but at the same time I feel that they are more akin to Chopper's monster form. Probably not quite the same thing, but still a more monster-ish hybrid form.
-
RE: Chapter 921: Shutenmaru
Oh man, Dragon Kaido going into melancholic-alcoholic mode will be hilarious.
Also for those who find his design too generic, don't worry. It's just full zoan mode anyway, hybrid is where the fun always begins.
I'd say that his awakened zoan form is where it's at. He's gotta have that form, no?
-
RE: Chapter 921: Shutenmaru
Why are you so mad? It's quite edging.
All I said was trying to say is that Oda based a powerful being on another powerful being. Is it so hard to get it into your tiny brain?
Oda has already had COUNTLESS of references to the DBZ series and for you to deny that is retarded.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Oda clearly said HIMSELF that he is inspired off of Dragon ball Z and has made references to the series many times, that's why I mentioned it.
The most recent one I can remember is the Leo Bazooka.
You simply had a stupid and arrogant response. A lot of the insults you are starting to throw out can be easily applied to yourself. You are not convincing and quite narrowminded. I will not bring myself down to your level and use other words that, although would describe you appropriately, are not appropriate to start using on this forum.
Doubling down on stupid really doesn't look good.
-
RE: Chapter 921: Shutenmaru
Yes we are aware of that, but knowing Oda we can't deny that the inspiration comes from Shenron.
We most definitely can. WTF? Every chinese dragon basically got those whiskers. With your logic you could say "oh GRRM's dragons are totally inspired by Smaug! Look! They have wings!"
Wasting your data? Seriously. -
RE: Chapter 921: Shutenmaru
Ok so Kaido is 100% based off Shenron with the mustache and everything.
Dude… just Google "eastern dragon"...
-
RE: Chapter 921: Shutenmaru
You guys think Kaidou looks badass and terrifying? Just wait until he awakens his fruit and actually lose his shit
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
And damn it Oda... Hancock's dress says "pirate enpress", with an n. Literally unreadable now.

RE: Chapter 918: Luffytaro Repays the Favor
I'd say 2 to 4 weeks at most depending on distances, with the majority of it spent at sea as far as Luffy & co are concerned.
This is only from memory, but I think they spent 3 days tops in Tottoland after the Sunny first landed on Chocolate island. I seem to remember it took roughly a week to reach WCI from Zou (memory's a bit fuzzy however), I don't know if an estimation was given when sailing from WCI to Wano.Sounds like a reasonable estimate, thanks. Luffy was acting like he hasn't seen Law in forever. I call shenanigans!
-
RE: Chapter 918: Luffytaro Repays the Favor
Can anyone remind me how much time has passed in One Piece time since Zou?
-
RE: Chapter 918: Luffytaro Repays the Favor
BM: Strawhat pissed me off!
Kaidou: No me!
Luffy: No u! -
RE: Chapter 918: Luffytaro Repays the Favor
I can’t wait until BM and her crew shows up on Wano. Sure, Kaido may be expecting her now but it will be such a total clusterfuck in addition to what is already happening <3

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
It depends on the manga. A Naruto or One Piece '3-in-1' (three volumes sandwiched in one book) goes about $12 in Amazon India. That's roughly $ 4 per volume. Sometimes it can be even cheaper if a seller is giving rebate. It can even go down further by 10%-15% when a bank is giving special cash back for purchasing through it's credit/debit card on Amazon. A single volume goes about $ 5- $ 8 depending on older or newer.
I actually haven't thought about checking Amazon in modern times. Though, since I don't have it in my country I will always have to pay some or shipping. But would feel weird to have all the books in my native language and then all in English; the collection would not be aesthetically pleasing :(
I could probably get behind an anual or monthly fee for manga, as long as it isn't pricey and then not feel any shame about pirating old chapters (if they weren't included in the subscription).
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
How much do you guys pay for volumes? They used to say for about 7-8 usd here over a decade ago, but most places had ”get 4 for the price of 3”. Had they still been around the price may have been higher as that’s how inflation goes.
Anyone remember what you also paid back then for a volume, in addition to the price today?
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
If it wasnt piracy that got you into it, are you saying that you got into it by an official source and decided to stop using the official source ? Forgive me if I'm wrong, just genuinely curious. I know there are other ways to get into the series, i was introduced to it via a game for the PS2 called One Piece grand battle.
The official sources basically disappeared in my country. I think they did want to keep publishing One Piece a bit longer, but that was the only series they could keep due to low sales, and because of that the provider (not sure if it that provider was from Japan or some third party) decided that they couldn’t have any manga at all anymore.
That was the end of manga sales where I live. The time it did last in my country it did introduce me to some great series I enjoyed. But personally, I don’t want to pay a high amount of money for importet series. To me, the alternative to cheat and read online for free is the way to go or to not read at all.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Though with that said, I did first start to read OP online because it was so far ahead and books were starting to get released less frequently. It started as monthly and eventually became every other month. Not sure if we had to wait 3 months on some occasions. And there was no official release dates if I remember correctly; nothing at the end of a volume which let us know when the next release was coming out.
I definitely could have paid more for the series than I ended up doing, and of course it is not impossible to pay for it still, it is just more than I would prefer and yeah... I’m used to this now. Not really trying to justify my piracy, but rather how it came to be.
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
Piracy definitely did not get me into manga. It is, however, the thing that has allowed me to stay into it. Though it is sad that One Piece is the -only- manga that is still with me from those early days.
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
Manga had a phase in my country for a few years. They were translated and sold in book stores. At first I picked up any new manga that was released (weren’t that many different series), so I own quite a bit of books / tonkabons / japanese story picture collections.
I don’t know how many I own… probably over 400? Also had our own Shonen Jump, and got those magazines as well. But I dunno... sales ended up falling and eventually all manga disappeared from book stores. I know one place I can go to get more series than was ever translated and released, but all imported and quite expensive.
Some of my friends also liked manga, so it was somewhat of a trend. Dunno if there is any interest at all for kids these days here, since it would be weird if I hung out with kids.

RE: Chapter 912: Amigasa Village
There was that one episode of Jackie Chan Adventures with a Irish cursed jewel. You would stay cursed if you tried to get rid of the jewel.
The only way to lift the curse was to give the jewel to someone that genuinely wants it.I like to think that One Piece's cursed swords work in a similar way. That you will meet a bad end if you lose the sword. Unless you give it to someone who wants the sword.
The guy in Loguetown was not cursed because he gave the sword to Zoro who wanted it.
In Water Seven Zoro almost died stuck in a chimney after losing the sword for the very first time. He managed to escape only when Chopper brought the sword back to him.Could be. Can’t recall if it has been stated, but I assumed it was cursed in the way that when used, it would cause harm and/or misfortune upon the wielder.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Luffy jumping Zoro is the cutest moment I've ever seen in One Piece.
How much time has passed in-universe? A week at most?
I was thinking 2 weeks or so. Sailing takes time, after all.
-
RE: Chapter 912: Amigasa Village
Luffy is going to fight with a cursed sword? I guess he will end up stabbing Zoro or something :D

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
I'm a bit out of the loop here. Are there suggestions that Momo is actually a dragon?
-
RE: Chapter 909: Seppuku
Tbh if I would have guessed what the Strawhats were up to on Wano while waiting, Usopp being a toad oil salesman would not have been my first suggestion.

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
@Big:
What exactly does?
Food = HP
Earth = RoundMost of the basic stuff
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
I'm a bit perplexed with what space even is in One Piece. Doesn't seem like it works the same as in real life. That is technically fine, but I just want to know the rules… not necessarily now, but if (or rather when) more space stuff get into the story, I want it to make sense in the One Piece universe and not contradict something else. Something like Ace's birth contradicts any common sense and could not have been predicted in the way it was revealed. Now, however, when it has been established things can work like that in One Piece it's simply just a fact, I guess... But yeah, air supply has so far shown to be a thing as well.
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
Considering how important and flexible devil fruits are, you already lost this battle.
I feel that devil fruits are a good fantasy concept. I hope there will never be an attempt to explain them in scientific terms. To me, there is a difference in good fantasy and poor science, and I feel that travelling through space is poor science when concepts such as atmospheric pressure and oxygen have been introduced in the world.
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
I give up the idea that OP physics can be evaluated like real life physics: if the manga says in the sky they need something special to breath but the characters can breath with out anything special in the moon, then that's it. Period.
Basically this. I get that we just have to deal with it. I just don't like that rules are set up (e.g. need to adjust to lower air supply in the sky) and yet breathable air appears to be available from earth and to the moon. If the rules change on a whim we, as readers, can't really predict much. Sure, we get surprised, but that's not always a good thing (e.g. string clone).
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
The thing I don’t like about the moon and space stuff is that they can breathe in space. When they landed in the sky Oda made a point to show that they needed to adjut to the oxygen level of that high altitude, just like real life. Since then we have seen Caesar Clown control and utilize (at least to my understanding) molecular oxygen.
Let’s say Enel doesn’t need oxygen and atmospheric pressure to survive due to being a logia user - fine. But what about the ancient space race(s)? It just bothers me that air, as it works in real life, has been used as a plot element but is then apparently forgotten as soon as someone goes into space and to a celestial body called the moon which appear to be similar to the real moon.
Either this is a hoax or the story is not consistent!
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
- Oda doesn't intend to reveal him fully for a long time and doesn't want to have to deal with his voice for the anime…?
All joking aside, does Oda make certain decisions of portrayals in the manga for the sake of the anime? I don’t watch the anime since it differs from the manga and is thus fake.
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
I get the feeling that Imu is speaking in a manner with which we (the reader) cannot understand. Ever since his introduction, he's been accompanied by speech bubbles filled with nothing but dots. Even when in the throne room with the Five Elders. I have two thoughts:
-
He's speaking in a language that is foreign to the One Piece world, but perhaps the Five Elders are able to understand.
-
He's speaking in a manner similar to how Zunisha "speaks", where only those with the ability to hear the "voice of all living things" can hear him. Sure, we (the readers) could "see" what Zunisha was saying (as it was important to the plot, and we were with Luffy and Momonosuke, who could hear Zunisha), but maybe this is Oda's way of hinting that something is off about Imu.
- He is currently unable to speak out loud for some reason, thus diminishing his ability to control stuff :ninja:
-
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
Thanks buddy!
Do you have any thoughts about his hitherto silence? On the top of my head it was the same with Pica and we know it was to set us up for his voice reveal.
Crazy thought: what if he is unable to speak any more? Could be a reason for carrying around posters; ”this is the food I want! Kill this person!”. Maybe he did command Zunisha, and have that sort of power, but right now it is disabled :ninja:
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
Btw, Greg: when you say crazy eyes, do you mean it in the sense of a mad-man, or someone very angry? Given the context we see Im I would assume it is the former. Yet, we see Oda write …... on maybe every panel with him. I could be interpreting it ”wrong”, but to me that somehow feels like a point is being made of this guy just not giving many fucks and unfazed by whatever is happening.
Basically, in some ways I don’t get the crazy-vibe. Definitely not discrediting you in any way, but I do enjoy your interpretation of things in the series, so just don’t wanna misunderstand the way you put it :)
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
I wanna know what ”crime” it did, and who (singular or plural?” Had the authority to make it wander like this. Did it steal someone’s cookies?
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
Ace wasn't supposed to be caught.BB was targeting to capture Luffy and gave him to WG for gaining the Sichibukai title. Ace just stumbled in his way.WG most likely at the same time came to know of Ace's true identity. So having Ace under their restrain and execute him publicly gave them a great opportunity to gloat in front of the world( and shooting at their own feet subsequently:ninja: ).
I also doubt Imu has the power the determine the exact lineage of a person. So info about Ace(also Buggy being a apprentice in Roger's crew) came from somewhere else.”I heard you guys got an Ace. Kill it” not that it was planned, but maybe he called the shot :ninja:
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
What do you guys think about this: the previous ”light” Im ordered to be extinguished was Ace :ninja:

RE: Chapter 908: The Reverie Begins
I guess Orlumbus is ambidextrous. He throws people with his right arm but writes with his left.
-
RE: Chapter 908: The Reverie Begins
Yeah, Kuma could definitely have had a change of heart at one point. Though, it would definitely be a typical way for the WG to slander someone like that.
In the picture of him as a child he kind of looks poor, and not quite like a royalty. Though, few would say Sabo looked like a noble at a yound age, too. But if Kuma became a king he may have done so by ursurping the old throne. Whether if he was a tyrant doing so or the stories just paint him as a villain remains to be seen.
-
RE: Chapter 908: The Reverie Begins
Man, I wonder if we're ever actually going to see the side of Kuma that earned him the epithet "Tyrant"
Every time we've see him in the main story he's been super reasonable and calm as a summers day
Now we actively have Sabo referring to him as "Kind Kuma"
Damnit, where's my paw cannon spamming tyrannical bear person?
At this point I’d think it’s fair to assume he was just as muc as tyrant as the scholars of Ohara were devils.
-
RE: Chapter 908: The Reverie Begins
Shout out to the King with the Charlie Chaplin stache.
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
So looks like we have our 'dormant legend'!!!!
Rocks, eh?
Now THIS is exciting.
Garp got his epithet not from dealing with Roger, but from this Rocks fellow who -I bet dollars to donuts- is the reason Kaidou 'owes' Mom.
What kinda badass is this character, huh?
He is probably related to ”that person”! Nah but given the way it was presented I believe it is fair to say he for sure was a captain of a crew in which Kaido and BM was apart of or at least somehow involved in.
What I felt was vague in this chapter was the talk about ”them growing in strength without their captain”. Who are they? BM and Kaido, or the Rocks pirates? Maybe something else?
Is Rocks alive? Will we see Kong in the field? Those two gotta be of the same generation.
