Can't really say I'm a fan of what Oda decided to do with this new guy… A stupid looking dimwit with the strength to take on (what I assume are) formidable pirate captains. I don't really want a character to have such strength and be that meh :/

RE: Chapter 800: Follower Sake Cup
Thanks mangapanda for Luffys 5 million bounty and Admiral Bastille who apparently got a promotion
That ending panel, very reminiscent of Ace vs Blackbeard ending….can't wait for this big incident to come....prolly him taking down a yonko
I think that was just mangapanda's failure to translate. Aohige wrote about it earlier.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
7 Captains. I wonder if Oda reffering to 7 Samurai?
7 goats in the opening, 7 captains in the chapter. Obviously he is referring to 7 dwarves! :ninja:

RE: Chapter 795: Suicide
Re-read what I wrote, I said 10,000m which is what Urouge or one of his crewmates says in the chapter. 10,000m in the sky vs 10,000m under the water one done by a Yonkou the other done by the post-TS big 3 of the SH crew.
You wrote 10,000 m and 10,000 feet :) But fair enough.
-
RE: Chapter 795: Suicide
I don't think so Whitebeard is about 3 times taller than Luffy, Kid is slightly taller than Luffy but he is like 1/6 the size of Kaidou probably smaller than because the view we get is of them looking up and you can't really see his feet. Luffy has a shot of him standing side by side to Whitebeard.
Didn't Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji fight underwater @ 10,000m (I know Luffy did at least have his arm under water at FI and still take out roided Hody)? so it kind of makes the 10,000 foot fall seem less crazy in the One Piece realm. But obviously Kaidou is a beast, I mean suicide attempts as a hobby and being seemingly unable to die.
Oda is never consistent of how he draws the scale of things. Kaidou looks big and massive because Oda thought it look cool. Or something.
Also he did not fall 10,000 feet. Good thing they use the metric system in that fictional world.
-
RE: Chapter 795: Suicide
I must say I didn't really like this chapter, due to the Kaidou part. His design is great and all, but I'm just not a fan of Oda's way of describing him; a creature who has been tortured a 1000 times (arbitrary?) and falls 10,000 m without, well, dying.
If he ends up tanking a King Kong gun like it's nothing I'm going to get pissed. That would just be stupid. Worst part is that this might happen.
These are just a few of my thoughts but it felt stupid and I am worried about what's to come.

RE: Chapter 794: Sabo's Adventure
I can't wait for the day Dragon goes ape shit on someone… Seriously one of the things I want to see the most... Simply love the aura around him
Aye. We just got to see that at one point. Like a serious, no bullshit, Luffy.
-
RE: Chapter 794: Sabo's Adventure
Dat rageface Dragon had when he saved Sabo.
-
RE: Chapter 793: The Tiger and The Dog
I'm glad we have Aohige. No way I can trust either panda or stream with this; panda make no sense sometimes and stream make stupid dialogues.

RE: Official Dressrosa Thread
So with this arc more or less done I must say it was fairly nice EXCEPT for the thousand chapters Usopp acted like an obnoxious coward and the string clones. The clones were just stupid. Of course Usopp's character is a bit of a coward but the way he was this arc was awful. I love his lying, but courageous Usopp is bestest Usopp.
-
RE: Chapter 791: "Rubble"
I guess whatever is left of Dressrosa is going to get wrecked by Burgess and Sabo :)
-
RE: Chapter 790: "Heaven and Earth"
Gotta love how we had a small flashback with Rayleigh lecturing Luffy about the dangers of using gear 4, and he should try to find some other solution. Yet after the flashback Luffy goes into gear 4 again :D
-
RE: Chapter 790: "Heaven and Earth"
And Law is such a dick. He could at least pretend to be happy at the end of this chapter.
-
RE: Chapter 790: "Heaven and Earth"
So… Will the villain rise again?! Or will he persist?!
-
RE: Chapter 787: "4 minutes"
This chapter: ending of the first Terminator movie.
Doflamingo, now moving in a miserable '80s stop motion state, is chasing after our protagonist and damsel in distress, Luffy, who is being hauled by Gatz around Dressrosa; trying to escape this seemingly wrecked, yet unstoppable, killing machine who is still fully capable of causing destruction.
-
RE: Chapter 787: "4 minutes"
"OMG! I totally predicted this in an earlier post!"
Alright, so while the distance between the people and the bird cage grows ever shorter

RE: Chapter 786 : Gatz
Also realized that one of the gladiators who joined up with Luffy now was Meadows. Luffy alliance with Kaidou confirmed!

RE: Chapter 786 : Gatz
I don't get how they seriously manage to ruin the order of the pages. Curse words.

RE: Chapter 785: Even if my legs were broken…
I love making vague parallels between unrelated things, GIVE ME MORE!!!!
! It just occurred to me that the people of Clock Town are, in a way, similar to the people of Dressrosa. The Clock Townies act like everything is fine and dandy in Termina until the Final Day, then when its obvious their death is nigh, they vainly run away from their doom. In the same way, the Dressrosans make it seem like all is peaceful in their country, but when Doflamingo finally makes their bird cage 'visible', they run like hell. I know vague parallels, but vague parallels are FUN!!!!!!
And there have been 4 "high executive / bosses" just like in majora :ninja:
We have also had the tiny princess who, despite being perfectly fine, wanted to be carried after her rescue…
And we have Sanji far away from everything "fighting" the crew of the female pirate captain
^The female pirate captain Big Mom -

Hell no you're not, give me MORE!!

RE: Chapter 785: Even if my legs were broken…
I suspect we still have to go through two more phases of Luffy and Doflamingos's battle…
So far, Doflamingo has more or less just been floating around in the air with his strings
Bellamy was still hovering around as well
^BellamyI now expect Doflamingo to loose his cool and go a bit crazy
Followed by pure wrath of the like we haven't seen. He's probably going to take yet another advantage of his powers. I dunno, like some killer whips?
Luffy dealt with Bellamy quite easily, but he went all gear 4 in the first phase
Sure, he dominated the fight but went completely out of mana doing so and thus loses his powerful power up. He may be able to take Doflamingo on even after losing his cool, but I don't see him dealing with his wrath in the final phase.Damn. I just don't know what will happen. Maybe I am overthinking this.
-
RE: Chapter 785: Even if my legs were broken…
So in one translation Doflamingo is making fun of the way Luffy uses his abilities and in another translation he is praising him. Which one got it right? If any…
-
RE: Chapter 785: Even if my legs were broken…
OMG! Fujitora is the one that bring the lost kid back to his mother, like a silent hero! That's my admiral!
I missed that one actually. Gotta love how he managed to "see" which kid it was ;)

RE: Chapter 784 : Gear Fourth
Releasing compressed rubber like a spring to add force doesn't make sense?
Nah, more like how he does it.
-
RE: Chapter 784 : Gear Fourth
This gear 4 thing and its attacks makes no sense at all, such as pulling his arms and legs in and thus making his attacks stronger. Nor does the zigzag attack make any sense.
But it's One Piece so it's all good.
-
RE: Chapter 783: Path Blocking
I don't see why Luffy simply doesn't use the speed of gear 2 to jam his hand down Doflamingo's throat and then quickly go gear 3 and inflate that hand and burst Doflamingo's face. No need for gear 4 that way.
And on a more series note: how many bird attacks does he have? One eagle and rest hawk? (We had an eagle last chapter, right? Or mistranslation?)
Falcon Punch forshadowing? -
RE: Chapter 783: Path Blocking
Anyone who thinks that gear 4 is going to be a haki specific attack is just thinking plain wrong. The point about The gears are that they, in stupid and ridiculous ways, utilizes Luffy's rubber body. Obviously haki may be involved but it's not what the gear is about.
So that's that. What it actually is remains to be seen, but obviously it is something which takes a lot of time to charge up (two weeks to be precise).

RE: Chapter 781: "Long-Cherished Desire"
It's worse then stupid, it's utterly meaningless within the bounds of narrative, if we are really critising this particular part.
The whole concept about it is bad.
Don't know if it was some bad translating or not, but one way it was used during Impel Down was terribly bad: "You will get a 10 years short life span if I do this. If I don't do it you will totally die right now. Make your choice." Not an exact quote but that's how it went down. There is no point in making anyone's life span shorter. Oda keeps doing this to Luffy in particular, which I can only guess means he's going to pull another Roger at the end of the series.
The only point during One Piece I could consider the concept being used is by Brook, as a gag. It's just really meh. Stupid plot-power-super-serious thing.
-
RE: Chapter 781: "Long-Cherished Desire"
Urgh… Whenever there is something like "this will reduce x life span!" in a series it just feels really meh. What's the point? To make it more hardcore and show there is something at stake? It's stupid.
-
RE: Chapter 780: "The Heart's Curse"
Sorry if this has been answered already, but I am confused.
On Panda's title page it says "Corason's true identity is revealed!?" I read the chapter and… Well it's just WHAT. URgh.

RE: Chapter 778: Tactics No.5
It would have been cool the see the slicing of Pica from Orlumbus's point of view :)
Chapter delivered satisfaction.
-
RE: Chapter 777: Zoro Vs. Pica
@Cyan:
Roger got one-shotted, no one complains about that.
Ace aswell. Father like son, eh?
-
RE: Chapter 777: Zoro Vs. Pica
Scumbag Oda: Chapter named Zoro vs. Pica contain barely any panels of said chapter name.
-
RE: Chapter 775: Love for Lucien
Why did Jora came to the conclusion that Monsheri could "heal" the factory, after the tears?
Nothing happened there, other than the tears, did the ground repair itself? And the condition of "Sacrificing Lifespawn", why did she come to that conclusion?
But I'm looking forward to her crawling around with half the family and minions sewed to her.
Pretty sure she knew everything except for the tears' healing power beforehand.
-
RE: Chapter 775: Love for Lucien
I nominate Senor Pink for a cover story of his own. Still want to know his and other members' reason for being in the family.
-
RE: Chapter 774: Tontatta Warrior Chief, Leo
Wadatsumi looks so sad :(
-
RE: Chapter 771: Sai, Leader of the Happou Navy
I have been thinking for a while that Sai's face and hair looks rather similar to Don Krieg. And now, he is DON Sai, coincidence or illuminati?
-
RE: Chapter 771: Sai, Leader of the Happou Navy
http://readms.com/r/one_piece/771/2629/1 You can thank me later.
Their translation actually seemed kind of bad this time :/
It is suggesting that Sai was supposed to marry his aunt. Maybe Aohige or someone else with better knowledge than me can point out why the translation is bad overall :P -
RE: Chapter 771: Sai, Leader of the Happou Navy
Tbh I'm sad that Akainu wasn't in the top 10. The color spread would have been amazingly awkward if he was there with Ace, Sabo and Luffy :)
-
RE: Chapter 771: Sai, Leader of the Happou Navy
Not sure if I am too late but…. Luffy's popularity level is over 9000!
-
RE: Chapter 771: Sai, Leader of the Happou Navy
All the hype we had about Chinjao was pretty much for nothing.
I would have enjoyed seeing him being awesome against the officers. -
RE: The Nintendo Thread
This is for the Japanese edition (I imagine the Australian edition is pretty similar), but looking at the EMS shipping rates for it (I checked Nippon Yasan, for the record) it's 2,040 yen, which means the package is heavier than 700g but either under or exactly 800g.
Thanks!
I imagine pal version might be heavier if the manual is bigger due to all the languages it may be written in.Again, thank you for your input!
-
RE: The Nintendo Thread
Anyone here happens to know the weight of the nn3ds xl box with all its content?
I know the weight of the actual 3DS, but would like to know the whole package's weight. Purpose: to figure out how much it would cost to ship one from Australia to me.

RE: Chapter 768: That trigger on that day
What if Ace was Sabo 1.0
-
RE: Chapter 768: That trigger on that day
Someone probably already pointed this out somewhere in the thread, but I just realized Baby 5's "weapons" were Sais while talking to Sai :)
-
RE: Chapter 767: Cora-san
The Trebol line seems a bit mysterious… And Oda wants us to cry, huh.
-
RE: One Piece Chapter 766: Smile
God damn you Oda. How can I take such a serious ending of a chapter seriously when you do this to me? :)
