@electricmastro:
One thing I'll say at least for now is that if people are so inclined and drive the idea home so hard to think that either she'll stay on Wano or go with another crew, then I think it could be reasonable to expect of them at some point to elaborate on the purpose or point in Yamato doing so, because certainly we don't want whatever she'll end up doing to not have a point and be "pointless," right? And what Yamato can do that characters like Kinemon, Hyogoro, the Minks, and Zunesha can't do that would necessitate her so much.
I pretty much completely agree Yamato's leaving Wano. I don't think they're joining a different crew; I believe they're getting their own new crew to lead. The biggest vibes I get from the character are more in line with them being a new Law or Sabo. Strong connection with Luffy will always be there, but competent enough to be out doing their own thing. Tama and Carrot are too young and too weak to see in such a role. Kinemon is the only scabbard that could be seen as relevant enough to shine in the role, but he's got a wife and strong commitment to stay and help rebuild and help Momo. The rest are too irrelevant or invested in Wano. Izo seems like he'd be in the range of someone who'd take charge of a group if they want to leave Wano and see the world and he's certainly no more than a potential grand fleet leader. Momo is the only other contender for this and I'm personally still not ready to accept adult Momoden.
Oda has spent so much of the post-timeskip building up the new generation. Law and Kidd (but Law moreso) are front and center to be part of the next age of Legends. Every faction is getting it though. The revolutionary Army would've been fine with just Dragon and Iva, but he went through the effort to give them their own "new generation" with Koala, Hack, and Sabo as the face. Coby is climbing ranks fast and growing into what should be expected as a leader figure for the Marines in the future. We saw Katakuri's growth from Mama's scary strongest serious enforcer into the respectable family lover and have had it made fairly clear he'll be the real next leader of the family. Why would Kaido's faction get any different treatment?
Yamato is perfect to continue Oda's trend and give a new generation successor for the Beast Pirates. You might think the beast pirates don't need to still exist or have any semblance of representation in the world post-Wano, but that what would be pointless to me. And of course, Yamato will probably give their new crew a new name (do you think Katakuri would change the crew's name to the Charlotte Family pirates?).
Will it be made up of allied Minks and Samurai that want to go out and see the world and Yamato will be the only thing standing as a Beast Pirate representative? Or could the turncoats and gifters all get together under him? Feels like there's more in line for the latter, while the Minks and Samurai could get together and make a new grand fleet faction. Hard to say, could just be all of the above.
Oda's spent time softening up the Beast Pirates. They're a far cry from the hateable monsters at the start of the arc attacking Tama and threatening citizens for the slightest of criticisms. Queen and Jack if you're a mink are pretty much the only 2 firmly holding onto the hate magnet. The rest of the army range from pitiable mooks just trying to survive; to the amusing turncoats and the followers that don't seem likely to head out on their own (Ulti, Pay Pay, Maria, the gifters, the numbers); to King and Kaido actively getting empathetic background moments and Kaido practically going through the same Katakuri transformation (at least in growing to like Luffy). I don't think Oda's just gonna send this army out in droves to be captured by the government or jailed in Wano itself anymore and just tell us to forget about them. Cp0 just crossed the line on the former, so can't imagine any negotiations happening anymore. It feels like Oda's been building to the point to expect them to be hanging around a bit post-arc, looking for new crews to join, rather than just rushing to brush them away.
It's a great message to have Yamato go their own way, on the direction they dictate after years of being stuck. Of course that still works somewhat if that direction is with Luffy, but it would hit a lot harder if they got to steer their own ship both metaphorically and literally. All of this is something only someone as strong, capable, relevant, and to be frank, as popular as Yamato can fill the role for. Seeing them go out with their own crew, lead their own adventure, and become as quickly famous as the rest of the new legends should be a great ending for Yamato's arc. Oda's been building his new generation major faces for ages now and this would be a good place to end it, cause to be frank, the rest of the supernovas just aren't up to snuff to really be a part of this anymore.
Anyway, "pointless" is subjective at the end of the day. This took way too long to type up, so I could definitely say this was pointless.
