People…. Whitebeard was just old... He just didn't have so much control of his haki anymore. Remember the scene where Whitebeard was about to save Ace from being beheaded, using haoushoku haki, but was interrupted because of the pain, and Luffy used his haoushoku haki to save Ace instead.
We saw in the flashback that WB's CoO was very developed, Ace tried to attack him using every possible way, he attacked WB even during his sleep, and WB always knew it was coming and stopped him... But during the war it was clear that age had finally gotten to him, and the scene where he was stabbed by his subordinate was the proof. Reason why, BTW, the Marines dared to declare war against him only then, since they wouldn't have the strength (or the guts) to do it if he hadn't become weaker (they would have been crushed if they did).
Toei will do well with Brook's new singles.
Page 4-5:
"Once the mor~ning has awakened, Good mornin-gyo~♪" -> explains why MR and MS differ as such (ningyo = mermaid/merfolk)
Neither site gave notice to the following lyrics: "Night at the Cafe~ Good Evenin-gyo~♪" on the next page.
Page 9:
"Coupling Music!! 'Requiem For Us'~♪" -> as in, coupled with his new single (kyoku = song, music, melody)
Page 10: Sanji declares the mermaids as his heart's "All Blue".
Page 12: The kokun by Jinbe's head shows that he's nodding respectfully.
Ima go work-play nao.
Thanks rubia.
Can you tell us if the part of the minister's explanation about the log pose about "something so extraordinary happening in one of the next island that it moves the island's magnetic field" really exists? Because MZ has it, but MS seems to have omitted this part completely…
It's a shame that cNet seems to be on hiatus from transcribing. Ah well, with Alpha coming soon, it's probably for the best.
Alpha?
16 characters
I called it:
@isrnick:
I think it is more likely that somehow the situation will end up reversed so that the Strawhats are seem as pirates who have taken FI from Big Mam and turned it into their territory, and that they even took all the candy from Big Mam for themselves. This way FI wouldn't be blamed for not delivering the candy, and the SH would take the blame instead, setting up the first conflict between them and a Yonkou (which wouldn't need to be resolved right now, only later in the NW)…
16 chars of :D
Or it could be something as simply as "The Strawhats came to the island, destroyed the factory and stole all the candy". This way, not only would the SH take all the blame, but Fishman Island would still be under Big Mam's protection (FI still needs it, after all) because the havoc caused by the SH would be technically Big Mam's responsibility as FI is her territory.
Yes, I thought like that too, I just added the conquer of territory to make the story a little more interesting. :)
But the main point of the theory is the SH ending up taking the blame instead of FI.
I agree with the bold portion, but your suggestion that a previously non-existant abnormal body is "far simpler" has no base logic, so you'll need to explain why it is far simpler. You basically just jump from one conclusion to the next without providing a reason.
Indeed there is no discussion that your supposition is simpler… I think what people struggle most with a DF capable of extracting a DF ability from someone else and giving its owner a new DF ability, is that it seems to be a too overpowered ability. ("One DF to rule them all, one DF to find them, One DF to bring them all and in the darkness bind them." haha :D)
There is also the fact that everything that was told to us until now about trying to obtain two DF abilities being impossible, because the body wouldn't withstand it and it would certainly kill the person, won't necessarily be true if this is confirmed.
So people can accept more easily someone who has "two bodies" and one DF in each one of them… Because it would mean that the information we have would stay true in all cases, and that the amount of DF abilities BB can have is limited to the number of "bodies" he have, and that his abilities are and will forever be the same ones we already know he has (Yami-Yami and Gura-Gura no mi), unless he has a "third body".
But I think people will accept your idea better if Oda set some kind of limitation, such as a maximum number of abilities he can absorb, or only being able to use one of the absorbed abilities at a time, or something on these lines (the problem is that at this point we know of no such limitation).
how does that have anything to do with haki! have you been reading the series??? that's obviously there knowledge of nami and sanji just being to lustful to listen to what she's saying
Relax, I think MattyD understood it already. Besides, he is new here.
I think only Zoro and Luffy have Haki at this point. Check it out, bottom right: http://mangastream.com/read/one_piece/64985431/13
They are the only two with the haki effect over their heads and saying they got a bad feeling.
That is only because Sanji's lust overcomes his fear of Nami…
Besides, even if your theory had any real implication it wouldn't mean that Sanji doesn't have haki, having a "bad feeling" is connected only to CoO haki, meaning that it would still leave the possibility of Sanji being able to use CoA haki, or it also could mean that his control of CoO haki just isn't as good as the other two yet.
People should stop thinking about haki as a black and white situation...
I think the same. Is nice that Toriko replaced Yu Yu Hakusho with swords from Jump's Monster Trio.
Please don't ever, EVER, compare Yu Yu Hakusho to that thing as if they are even remotely related…
Since it is confirmed that Jinbe will one day join the crew, shouldn't this topic be closed and a new one be opened to discuss "the last nakamate"? After all, there is no point in continuing speculating who are the "last two nakamates", since we already know who is one of them…
Since CCC and Rubia haven't showed up, here's from me:
- King
- Kings are born every few hundred years in form of a mermaid. This is ambiguous, not sure if there are kings that are not a mermaid or not.
- The seakings are protecting Noah so it wouldn't be completely destroyed by Luffy.
- "masaka" -> "Really?" / "you're not saying…" -> an expression of almost disbelieving something.
- First, the seakings actually say "can it be repaired?" with Noah as the subject of the sentence (passive sentence). Further, "to repair it, the power of 'that' family is needed, but time has changed..."
- The mermaids can clearly remember the culprit's face.
- MS only translated "tamatebako" as "treasure chests".
- Someone was "aiming" (literal translation) for the absence.
- Not everyone must be decapitated (Jinbe's not sure), he's waiting for Neptune's family to make the decision.
- MZ is correct (Usopp worries about battles hereafter)
- ...
My download's corrupted, I can't read the next pages, and I don't wanna re-download with this crappy connection. If anyone would upload page 15-... I would gladly read them.
Until then, I'm going to bed again, it's 2am in here.
Ah, the ending narration. Time to get literal…
"To wound... or to be wounded, red blood flows"
As on MR."Whatever path can't be said... so narrow, that tube"
As in, "that tube" can't be called an actual path; it's too narrow. MR again."The fear from prejudiced views... the blood that washes blood from battle... so easily flow out"
There's definitely the imagery of blood cleaning blood, so MS is closer."More than painted illusions from a pipe dream"
MR gets it again."Surely can be seen, the continuing path toward the Sun"
There's no personal subject, so this bit goes to MS.Overall... they both need work, but when Mangazone releases theirs, it's usually more literal. Sometimes MR copies the scanlations from MS, though.
Edit: I gotta work on my speed without degrading quality...
Edit 2: Oh, just in case -- Luffy literally says "become my nakama", but we can safely assume that he means for Jinbe to join.
Thanks a lot Sagippio and Rubia, your help is very much appreciated. :)
RAW is out, now I'm just waiting for rubya (or CCC, or Aohige(?)) to give us a report on the flaws of the translations, there are so many differences between MS and MZ's translations that I don't know what to make of many of the information we got in this chapter…
The Sea Kings call Shirahoshi their Queen (MS) or their King (MZ)?
Are Mermaid Queens/Kings of Sea Kings born every few hundred years (MZ) or is Shirahoshi the first ever Mermaid Queen/King of Sea Kings after hundreds of years of the Sea Kings not having a ruler (which implies that the previous one wasn't a mermaid) (MS)?
The guards say that the sea kings aren't hurting Luffy and protecting Noah (MS) or just that they are protecting Noah from Luffy (MZ)?
The Sea Kings agree at the end that Luffy heard their voices (MZ - "really...") or not (MS - "that's impossible...")?
The Sea Kings wonder if they themselves can fix Noah (MS) or if other (people) can fix it (MZ)?
Is it a kind of people (MS) or one specific family with some kind of power (MZ) who can fix Noah?
Can the mermaids remember their kidnapper's face (MZ) or not (MS)?
Did MS forget to mention Urashima's Casket also was stolen?
Was someone trying to get the King out of the castle (MS) or was someone just waiting for the absence of people in the castle (MZ)?
Is everyone who followed the NFP in line of decapitation (MS) or not (MZ)?
Is Usopp worried about their next battles (MZ) or is he asking Chopper to work (MS)?
Was Luffy conscious the whole time (MZ) or not (MS)?
Not to mention the whole narration at the end...
I read the summary and can already tell theres too much darkness there. The best manga isn't one with the best plot. Its one than can balance and mix humor, action, adventure, meaning, drama, etc.
At least thats the way I see it. Anyone can write a great plot, but it takes a master to write one with such balance and elegance combining elements from various mediums
What are you understanding as a plot? Because to me action, adventure, meaning and drama are all elements of the plot (especially of great plots)…
And the plot definitely is the most important part of any story, and certainly not everybody can write a great plot, otherwise there wouldn't be so many failed attempts to do it (in novels, movies, mangas, comics, games, and others)...
Because there is no such thing as "the best manga."
There has never been one and there probably never will be, because everybody has their own different opinion and personal preferences.
Yeah, instead of saying that one manga is "the best manga", I rank them as MY favorite manga at the moment, since even my opinion may change over time because sometimes one manga is very exciting while others are in a "not so interesting" phase… But to this day One Piece has always been one of the top 3 in my favorite mangas list, and stays at the very first place most of the time.
Knowingly eating sentient beings for fun just makes them colossal dicks.
Or very hungry…
Besides, as far as I can tell, everything alive in OP (except plants and maybe small insects) is a sentient being, some of them are just smarter than others, and not all of them can speak like a human, but all of them can talk (Chopper talks to animals, mermaids talk to fishes)...
Somebody needs to rename this thread, and include something to indicate that this is a thread to talk to Stephen and ask him questions about his translations/work… Not a Q&A thread about the whole forum...
Translation corrections:
page 7: Brook finishes the match with a haiku.
page 8: The raw script is a bit confusing here. Usopp says the bulb grows to 3 meters in diameter, but it's more like the shockwave hits that wide.
page 9: The term "Palme" is a play on the word "palm".
page 10: The lower left bubble translates to "dried squid".
page 11: "Buraikan" literally translates to "Reliable Military Weight". The "kan" bit also is a pun for sushi.
page 12: Wadatsumi says "Scared the guts outta me!!"
Lower text bubble, top left panel should be "That saves me some trouble!" The following lines then make more sense.
Okay, that ought to clear up some questions…
Oh, now the dialogue between Sanji and Wadatsumi finally makes sense to me. So the dynamic was something like:
Wadatsumi: "That scared the guts out of me"
Sanji: "Scared the guts out of you, you say?
That saves me some trouble.
After all, when preparing blowfish you've got to be very careful to remove the poisonous parts."
Cool… :D
Thanks rubia_ryu.
Fixed. And yeah, i agree that her power will play a role in this arc. Seems like a waste otherwise. I was hoping that the sea-kings would stop noah, but seeing that sanji and jimbei are almost on their way to using Umizou (or w/e his name is) I am not sure anymore. I guess we'll probably be closer to knowing that next chapter.
Haha, thanks, I don't even know why I was with Otohime's name stuck in my head… :)
Indeed, there still are Sanji and Jimbe to account for, their recent actions certainly are putting some doubt in my theory, lets wait and see, hopefully we will have some spoilers soon.
Something about this statement has been bothering me. Has it really been discussed on Japanese boards? You keep repeating that "NO JAPANESE" have a problem with it, but then, if nobody has a problem with it, why was it ever discussed? Why discuss what makes perfect sense, am I right? Picking a random speech bubble to say it makes perfect sense to you…? Seems like an odd topic for EVERY JAPANESE. I'm willing to bet that if it was ever discussed, the topic of discussion was over English readers thinking Luffy was talking about himself. That wouldn't apply here, though, so this whole 'every Japanese' argument really confuses me.
Why answer what is irrelevant? Being Japanese doesn't increase your understanding of storytelling or artwork, and that was what I was talking about.
It's easy to say you understand what I'm talking about, but until you can reply without suggesting the contrary I will have to continue believing you don't actually understand. For example, what does Oda have to do with it? Oda did nothing wrong.
That certainly doesn't sound like me. I have no problem with being wrong, but why should I believe I am wrong when nobody has really argued my point?
One of the first things Vanessa and I discussed about this chapter was why Oda had Shirahoshi comment on Luffy's wound. It seemed unnecessary, so I skimmed the chapter for things that dealt with his wound. Then I saw your post. To say that I only want to be right is unfounded, particularly when I never set out to prove anything. That's why Vanessa tried to reiterate that I was talking about the artwork, not the dialog.
I think Aohige made it very clear several times that nobody in the Japanese boards is even discussing what Luffy said, the way I understood what he said everybody there just understands that Luffy was commenting to himself about Hodi's toughness (and I imagine that it may have led to some power level discussions in the Japanese boards, comparing Hodi to other over 100 mil bounty heads, instead of "was Luffy talking about himself or about Hodi" discussions)…
And about Oda, you DID say that you aren't arguing the translation, and that instead it may have been a mistake by Oda.
And I have seem several people arguing your point, saying that Luffy boasting about his strength/toughness doesn't fit his personality, and that him simply ignoring the enemy is much more like him... The way I see it, you are only considering the context of the chapter and disregarding everything about Luffy's personality... Besides your argument is based in there being a sequence of events that only makes sense if Luffy was answering to Hodi, which isn't true since he talking to himself and ignoring Hodi makes perfect sense...
Shirahoshi talking about Luffy's wound being open may just be showing her personality, always worrying too much, always the fragile girl, it may be the kind of impression Oda wants us to have about her, so he had to put her there commenting about Luffy's blood loss because it wouldn't make sense for her to see it and not worry about it, and not have that reaction... Or as some people said it may be foreshadowing some future development, such as Luffy needing a blood transfusion and receiving it from a fishman, though I think it would be more interesting if he just gets weaker thanks to the blood loss, to the point where he becomes unable to finish the job of saving FI, leaving the rest of the job in the hands of Shirahoshi and her ability to talk to Seakings.
Well in Aohiges translation here- http://forum.onemanga.com/showthread.php?t=90614
It says
If your armor is strong, of course you can use it for attack
And the anime translation here
at time 2.47
says
"If the armor is hard enough it can be used as an offensive power"
The anime can't be used as reference, firstly because it isn't cannon and they may have made a mistake in the anime, and secondly because we don't know how reliable the translator is…
So that leaves only the option of asking Aohige about his translation of that sentence, or rubia_ryu himself could check the page, which is also there in the link you posted on OM, and verify if really there is that "if" in that sentence...
Though it would be even better if we got that page from the Volume (already revised by Oda) instead of the WSJ chapter, just to make sure, if someone could post it here...
Hahaha, for the last time, nobody was arguing with the translation. All anyone– read: me, brennen-- was saying, was that the context of that scene-- read: the circumstances that are relevant to the event-- is the damage that was done to Luffy. Luffy begins Gear 3rd, Hody comments on the damage to Luffy's shoulder, Luffy's wound opens, Luffy remarks on the damage, Luffy attacks, his wound breaks open more, and then Shirahoshi worries about the damage. My argument was that contextually it made no sense for Luffy to ignore Hody in the middle of that and arbitrarily comment on Hody's durability/defense. My suggestion was that perhaps Oda slipped on the grammar, but mainly I was trying to point out that the context revolved around Luffy's wound, and therefore his remark should be in reference to that. If anything, CNET's translation agrees with my ultimate point, as "he's a crazy tough one, alright" would be referring to the how powerful Hody's teeth were. Basically, Luffy isn't ignoring and making an arbitrary comment, he's responding, if to himself, that Hody is right about the damage to his shoulder.
I brought this up, and continued to argue it, because I think the context is semi-important to the chapter. Oda emphasized multiple times via SFX and artwork (and dialog) that Luffy took some pretty bad damage from Hody, and typically he doesn't emphasize that stuff for nothing. Perhaps it is a weak attempt to lead in to a blood transfusion, perhaps Oda is reminding that Luffy still has room to grow, perhaps something else entirely. Point is, Luffy's hurting over the wound, and Oda's didn't want us to overlook that.
I had got it the first time around that YOU wasn't arguing the translation, but my post wasn't for you but to anybody who still had some kind of doubt about the translation…
Cnet 's translation is out:
http://mangahelpers.com/t/cnet128/releases/32122
And here is how he translated that part of the chapter:
@Cnet:
Hody: These fangs of mine ain't just for show, Straw Hat… / You must be feeling their sting...!!!
Luffy: He's a crazy tough one, all right...
As we all can see his translation agrees with Aohige's translation… :)
@gotta<3OP:
I'm not japanese, but I do think that it makessome sense the other way around.
I mean. Hodi is saying Luffy should be in pain from his bite. What would be the sense of him going: "Your endurance is better than +100.000.000 heads."
Its like a dialog:
A to B:"I put poison in your food, you should be dying"
B to A:"Your endurance to poison is over 9000, actually."Or is it with the meaning:
"My haki punches aren't that weak either, your endurance is surely better than that of an 100.000.000 head" ?If you are so sure its referring to Hodi, I believe you. But in context it makes sense both ways.
The point here is exactly the fact that he isn't saying "Your endurance is over the 100 mil bounty level", he is saying "His endurance is over the 100 mil bounty level" (even though there is no pronoun in the original sentence in Japanese, that is what the sentence implies the way it was written), in other words he is talking to himself (and simply ignoring anything Hody said), not giving an answer to Hodi…
quoting just to get your attention :ninja:
Last two pages of jump… can you or aohige or anyone else shed some light about what it is?
Warning: big images
The images are loaded whether you click to show the "spoiler" or not… Couldn't you reduce the images, or use a host who reduces it for you if you want (such as imageshack)?
I would absolutely love for Hody to die, even after the magma punch cliff hanger I assumed Ace would live. Still though I just don't see Oda killing anyone for a very long time.
With that said, what in the world is Oda going to do with him after he is defeated? He wont reform, even if he needs to be given blood and it's Luffy himself giving it to him, I just don't see his ideals changing. Is he going to live all alone on the ocean floor with the rest of his racist followers? I have never been more interested in the outcome of a villain's lively hood like I am now.
I think that the most likely solution, if Oda intends to keep him alive, would be some pretty nasty side effects of the excessive drug abuse who would render Hody useless for the rest of his life, like a complete paralysis, or an atrophy of all muscles without any chance of recuperation, or something like that… Though maybe that is just too cruel for OP, I don't know...
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
@Baou:
The west bird is facing east and the east bird is facing west….probably to troll humans lol.Remember, the south bird liked to mess with people,so maybe the children face different directions intentially to be annoying
It could also just be Oda trolling everybody by putting a W in the Eastbird's head, and an E in the Westbird's head, or maybe just it was really a mistake by Oda.
LOL :D
Maybe the fire outside of the symbol makes it a double negative… Something like "Burn the prohibition of human decapitation!". :D
How come nobody is talking about what is quite clearly happening to Hody? He is changing again.
True, he is becoming Blackbeard: :ninja:
@Brook:
In my opinion Hody is only Blackbeard disguised!!
They are fucking same! XDDDD
But Brook il Barbanera already talked about it…
Racists high on pills. Who'd have thought OP would come to this.
Nobody, and that is why Oda is so amazing.
Wow, so he took another pill??? I thought that after the transformation there will be no effect for the pill.
Yes he did.
Aohige confirmed it:
@Aohige_AP:
FYI, the MS translator didn't translate the sound of eating, but second to the last page, Hody pops another pill.
So he definitely didn't just shurg off Luffy's attacks, he senzu-himself again.
Something big has yet to happen to him, he hasn't even taken ES since his transformation, and are we really not expecting him to do so anymore? Luffy & Fuka are going to continue to overpower him, and he's not going to give up until he has his way. He hasn't even snapped yet (like Arlong did). Either he's gonna OD on ES again (this time, killing him), or he'll get so carried away with himself once he does "beat" Luffy and a fatal accident happens.
Actually he has just taken one ES…
Bottom right panel: http://mangastream.com/read/one_piece/59032007/19
He swallows a pill (the untranslated bubble is the sound of gulping).
Just saying. And it's not that obvious, I doubt everybody noticed it in the first read.
Most people certainly did. That is easily understood in those panels…
He translates it in a script manner - I believe he does it after most of the big guys have translated theirs so that they don't just steal his translation and put it in the comics - Like Aohige he doesn't appreciate his translations being used without permission which is more then reasonable.
Actually, no, he doesn't care if people ask or not for permission to use his translations… They are free for anybody to use, as long as he is properly credited, as he states in the guidelines for using his translations (to which there is a link at the beginning of every translation he makes)...
I believe that the reasons he translates so late nowadays are: firstly because the RAW appears in the internet only days after mangastream's scanlation (mangastream have their own exclusive RAW provider, who gets their RAW very early), and secondly because he doesn't have to translate so that fast scanlation groups can use his translations as soon as possible anymore (which he used to do years ago), since mangastream's super-early high-quality releases (if you disregard the quality of the translation) basically destroyed all the "competition", so there is no necessity for him to make fast translations anymore, he just does it when he has free time, at his own pace... (Nowadays only late scanlations use his translations, such as scanlations of whole volumes of the manga.)
BTW, he used to translate OP for binktopia (which as you all know merged with mangastream), but they ended using other translators after the merge because Cnet's time available to translate didn't match mangastream's work time to release the chapters (and probably also because of some problems binktopia and Cnet had at the end of their period working together), which would mean having to delay the chapter's release if they really wanted to use Cnet's translation.
@Mark:
Where can I read his translation if I may ask? and thank you my good gentlemen
He always posts his translations at MangaHelpers, here is a link to his translations of OP:

I agree in a sense we're just arguing over how we veiw the same side of the coin - but for Coby to be against Luffy convincingly there needs to be a driving factor, the whole Marines one side and Luffy the other is one viability. Also when Luffy is finished at Raftel and all the Dust settles I would truely see Coby as taking the role of Admiral - or Kong's place. Since the Pirates out there need to be reigned in as Vivi's father mentions "Not all pirates are like the Strawhats" - But there is the possibility for Coby to fall into the whole "For the greater good" situation but be saved from it as well from a sound beating from Luffy.
I think this is very unlikely, Coby was shown too much as being THE completely good marine, he dreams about being a marine to fight evil since he was a little kid, and pursued justice in all situations, even if it meant he had to help a supposed criminal and oppose the marines (the whole Morgan incident)… And then again at Marineford, he screams desperately just to stop the unnecessary bloodshed, showing again how he really is a "good guy"... And his dream is to reach the level of an Admiral, which means that eventually he definitely will be in a position to be able to change the Marine itself, maybe even as a Fleet Admiral.
Everything shown until now about him foreshadows him as being the ultimate pursuer of true justice and future responsible for reforming the Marine.
I was wondering if anyone here could point me in the right direction to learning Japanese. Does anybody have any tips, sites, or anything that could help me in my quest? If so please message me.
Thanks in advance!
(Sorry didn't know where to ask this)
Definitely not the right place to post it, maybe posting it in the "General Discussion" forum or the "Help Forums" would be better. But anyway, I remembered seeing this some time ago on MH, and I think it may be useful to you:

**who is the greater translator ??? and more accurate
SleepyFans
or
Mangastream & Binktopia
or
mangareader.net**
In this case Mangareader is hosting Mangarule's scanlation of the volume containing this chapter, and Mangarule used Cnet's translation which is the most reliable translator (better than Naruhodo or Molokidan from Mangastream/Binktopia, and better than Sakura from Sleepyfans), so I would go with this version. If you want something to compare it to, or to know if someone found some mistranslation, you can see if Aohige translated or mentioned something in the chapter 597's threads (spoiler and discussion threads). Other than that the only option is to wait until Stephen translates this volume, which will take a while…
Coby becoming evil? Not a chance…
Coby is the one who will purge all evil from the Marine, all the bad influence that the corrupt WG has had upon it. He is the one who will make the Marine finally follow the true path of justice... The reformed Marine will survive after the WG be brought down in the world's revolution.
Cnet 's translation of chapter 634:

@Don:
In the case of the last flashback i was surprised to see that much of Otohime, because Jinbe was telling us the story and we only should have seen what he sure heard over the years about her plus some scenes which can`t be missed to accompany her character.(for instance the promise to her kids).
Jinbe only introduced the flashback, he didn't tell everything we saw in the flashback to the SH, the flashback we've read was "told" from an all-seeing and all-knowing narrator's point of view (as happens in all flashbacks in OP), in fact it is possible that Jinbe didn't even know about the promise Otohime and her kids made, before Shirahoshi said it in chapter 633…
There can be only one!
:)
@DEE:
but i've got a question, In the last page, the crew is shown with the presence of Jimbei… does it mean he joined them? or Is it just temporary
There is nothing stating anything about Jinbe joining or not, you know as much as we do about that… Besides Shirahoshi and Pappug are also in that same panel, and I think that it is very unlikely that they will join, so I would say that that image says little or nothing about whether or not he will join.
On page 15, we saw the tentacles of the Kraken. If I had to guess, Luffy will command the Kraken to go and destroy the ship headed towards FI in the next couple of chapters. This could and should alert everybody to Luffy's ability to tame/control sea beasts, which would probably be essential for the future since it seems Luffy is the person that will teach Shirahoshi how to use her sea king controlling ability.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I believe that Shirahoshi herself will be the one to stop the Noah ship…
First I thought that Luffy would be the one to stop it, since he is the one who promised to protect her from everything that VDD throws at her, and all... But I think that Shirahoshi will see the giant ship coming to destroy her beloved island and kill all the people living in it (including her family), and will end up summoning the Sea Kings to stop the ship and protect the island, be it by her own volition (maybe with Luffy's incentive(?)) or out of sheer despair (she just screams and cries and the Sea Kings answer to it, protecting she and the island(?)).
