It's been a while since I posted a link to a translation made by Cnet in the discussion threads, so here is his translation of chapter 699: http://mangahelpers.com/t/cnet128/releases/37175

RE: One Piece 699: The Morning News
Who is stephen? and how does he know about future chapters? He might be a pro translator but still do they really get the next chapters so soon?
?? I don't get it, if you already know who he is what are you asking?
He is the official translator of OP for VIZ (USA publisher), and they publish it in english at the same time that the manga is published in Japan (or so I hear), so clearly he has to get it very early to work on the translation and allow the editors to do their work in time for publication…
Personally, I dislike moria, hes weak and I hope we don't see him again, because hed be so worthless compared to the main characters after time skip, unless he gets a incredible power up. + i dont like his DF ability, well actually I hate everything of this character. But yea we probably will see him in kaido's arc, I just don't see how he could revalize with such big shots…
And like someone said a little higher, yea he already faced kaido, so he knows stuff about him, but kaido also knows the weakness of moria, he would demolish him in no time. Tho this is all speculation and im biased.
Beka where are you? There is people blaspheming around here…

RE: One Piece 699: The Morning News
But if they become stronger and then quit, I think that would make them a bigger threat than they used to be.
And how would they know if he is stronger or not? They haven't fought against him since he joined the shichibukai, he didn't commit any major crimes against the WG since then either, and he hasn't made any major moves against any of the Yonkou. His strength is therefore the same, as far as the WG knows.
Now, if, for instance, the marine's attempt to capture or kill him by sending the admirals after him results in defeat, then they would know that his strength and threat is bigger then they imagined/expected, but as you can see that would only influence his bounty after the mentioned confrontation…
As I said the only reason for an increased bounty right now is his status in the underworld being discovered.
-
RE: One Piece 699: The Morning News
It would if the one leaving has gotten stronger since their bounty was retracted.
Again: Bounty isn't a measure of strength but of the menace that the pirate poses, according to the WG. Meaning that the pirate who commits more crimes, or is involved in more incidents, etc, may have a bigger bounty than someone who is stronger than him but didn't do these things… Becoming stronger means nothing to the WG unless the person uses this strength to do something more "evil" than what he did until now (according to the WG). So if DD gets an increased bounty it will be because he is Joker, the most influential man in the underworld, that is if the WG really didn't know about it already when they made him a shichibukai, of which I'm not convinced yet…

RE: One Piece 699: The Morning News
Uuh, thanks for the links, but that second one is German.
my german is limited :PEDIT: no wait it has different languages for each chapter.
wow thats confusing.
i just clicked a random one to see how it looked and it was a german oneEDIT 2: ah i can filter it to just english. now i get it.
lol, thanks.And people seems to have forgotten that there is also Cnet available but he still diligently translates every chapter of One Piece, though his translations are always very late by comparison with the other people translating it… But he is an excellent translator. If you want to find reliable alternative translations online you can always check his take on it:

RE: Chapter 696 - Matching Interests
@Foxy:
It's almost 99.9% true that he only got the spoilers earlier than everyone else.
Maybe he was someone on the inside who was playing a prank?
There was his explanation of Doflamingo's power too, let's wait and see if it is true…

RE: Chapter 695: Leave it up to me!
I guess it's already been said by now, but what if Aokiji's reason for coming back was to collect the frozen prisoners? It was assumed by a lot of people that they were some Level 6 escapees, possibly incapacitated by Aokiji before his fight with Akainu on the island. Yeah, I dunno how he'd cart all of them back, but hey.
Yeah, that is my theory too.
-
RE: Chapter 695: Leave it up to me!
I just can't see Ace ever having been a subordinate of DD. He was too proud for that, even to join WB's crew he gave a lot of trouble.
-
RE: Theories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread v.2
No the suit seats would more likely be positions of power in the underworld, and Joker has the Heart seat…
Which could mean that Ace had something to do with the underworld.
-
RE: Chapter 695: Leave it up to me!
I doubt that it's Aokiji. First of all, shouldn't he know the way to Punk Hazard seeing as how he almost died there? Secondly (and please correct me if I'm wrong), has Oda ever done a completely black silhouette for a character that we've already seen? Lastly, the facial struture doesn't really look anything like him. I'm gonna go with new character, probably a new admiral who's taken up the lazy justice cause since Aokiji's gone. As for why he'd be heading there, I have no idea.
He knows the way, but he has just woken up, he was drifting aimlessly while sleeping, so now that he is awake he is just localizing himself so that he can find the direction he should go to get to PH.

RE: The Monet Problem: An Arlong Park Wager
@RobbyBevard:
Oda went to the trouble of showing the spike distinctly aside from the heart… when he could have left it out of frame, or still impaled. He made a visual representation that the spike is not currently in there, or that it may have never been in there at all.
That's just his subtle way of playing fair and setting up for the reveal that she's alive later, (and in the very next chapter!) though the actual on screen denouncement may take a while.
It IS a cube of blood, of course there's blood coming out of it. Doesn't mean its coming from the heart itself.
And both Law and Smoker were taken out when their cubes were just squeezed. Monet, (who was already wounded) would have been affected by a grazing, it wouldn't take a full stab to knock her out at that point.
My point was that Caesar did in fact stab the cube, and then removed the spike from it, and apparently stabbed the ground with it latter, but I agree that whether it actually damaged the heart or not is up for discussion.
-
RE: The Monet Problem: An Arlong Park Wager
@RobbyBevard:
So, in the latest chapter we see that the spike Ceaser drove into the heart, is now well and truly outside of said heart cube but firmly implanted in the ground.
http://www.mangapanda.com/one-piece/695/7
Apparently he stabbed the heart once, then pulled the pick back out and stabbed the ground?
That seems… odd.
Or maaaybe he only delivered a glancing shot to the top, then the spike slid and hit the ground. Enough of a shock to make the cube squirt and knock Monet out... but basically missed and it was forced perspective and cutting the camera away making it look like he hit straight on.
Anyone feel like changing their "dead" vote now thats its pretty obvious he didn't actually impale the heart?
Could be, but as some people pointed out at the chapter thread, the spike seems to have penetrated a lot at chapter 694: http://mangarulereader.hostoi.com/MANGARULEREADER/?manga=One+Piece++Shonen+Jump&chapter=694+mangarule&page=12#page=12
There is also a lot of blood coming out of the cube, and Monet spiting blood too… -
RE: Chapter 695: Leave it up to me!
I don't know why people haven't mentioned the most important reason why Aokiji could be heading to Punk Hazard: The room with the frozen people… He is probably the one responsible for it.
-
RE: Chapter 695: Leave it up to me!
I saw the raw scan of that man, but haven't read all the posts so I don't know if it's been said, but does anyone else see what looks like 2 drums above shoulders Just like Eneru and the new species will be some space creatures?
Aokiji the most likely answer until now, though it could be someone else. -
RE: Chapter 695: Leave it up to me!
So now the card deck theme for the underworld theory seems to have a very good base, we have Joker and Jack, and now also the suit Heart. So there may be a King and a Queen, and underworld "seats" for the other 3 suits (Spade, Diamond and Club).
And it is very possible that this new person is the Jack…
-
RE: Theories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread v.2
Heart, Spade, Diamond and Club. The four suits.
-
RE: Chapter 694: A Very Dangerous Man
At this point the best therapy for OP abstinence is to re-read the chapter 694 and convince yourself that it just came out, so you just have to wait one week to read the next chapter, as usual.
Or you can choose to just go crazy…
! Ok, lets go back to partying people!

RE: Chopper's forms
Just wondering about something over here, don't think it deserves its own thread so…
If Buggy was part of Rogers crew, who was the Pirate King and ruled over all seas, Grand Line and New World included... how come when he was first introduced, Nami stole a map of the Grand Line from him... why would someone like him need that a trivial thing after he's already been there and knows all about it and more... I guess in a way, it made him look like a actual East Blue pirate, even though he's already been all over the Grand Line which I think is a bit iffy... any suggestions or reasons?
Having been there doesn't mean that he has all of it committed to memory… He is no Nami.
-
RE: Chapter 694: A Very Dangerous Man
The party is over…
Let's remember some heartwarming OP moments with my favorite MMV instead:
-
RE: The Monet Problem: An Arlong Park Wager
@RobbyBevard:
Nah. Most of us said he wasn't dead the first week he "died" based on how Oda presented the scene. Again, with lack of witnesses, drama, accomplished dream, or a smile. If someone isn't on camera crying over the dead body, milking it for all it's worth, they aren't dead. (The BOAT dying was a huge tearjerker deal.)
Dragon going back for "someone" a couple weeks later was just the conclusive proof some people needed.
As is, some people STILL don't believe it, even after the sake cups by Ace's grave.
Oh, that is what he meant, yes yes I remember. :)
(Yeah, some people just can't see reason about that… Why I don't think we should go there or this discussion will go out of topic very quickly.)

RE: The Monet Problem: An Arlong Park Wager
@Nex:
Higuma, Mr. 11 was it?, the Royal Alabastan Guard have all died in the story present day, and none died with a smile, and not one was significant to the story.
Monet's death right now is not insignificant. It has revealed to us Doflamingo's true ambitions. Her role is done. She was the Ace to his Whitebeard; the Zoro to his Luffy. People who were willing to throw their lives down because their captain's dream is theirs. Zoro lived because of, you know, main character, but Monet doesn't have that plot-armor. If she does end up living, Oda had better do something fantastic with her, otherwise a lot of fans upset.See, the whole "this is One-Piece" argument has always bugged me, because we've never actually seen someone get fatally wounded and live. That's why the rallying cry with Sabo is "no body, no death." People applied present day logic to the flashback, and it's right.
Though, I really do think Oda needs to do something to differentiate bewtween the New World and "Paradise" other than even weirder islands. I'm not saying he needs to go around killing a bunch of people, but if the New World really is supposed to be that much more dangerous than the first half of the grandline, he needs to be able to make that atmosphere present throughout.
Sabo is alive because Dragon rescued him, not because of the absence of a body… But lets agree not to go there.
Well, I'm not in the "not dead" bandwagon, actually I don't think it matters either way right now, it only will matter when and if we see whether she is dead or not...
But lets see... Mr. 11 and the Royal Alabastian Guard only showed up in the manga to die, I don't think they even count, that would be like taking into account the prisoners and okamas who died during the escape from ID, or the marines and pirates who died during the war...
We are only taking into account characters who actually had some development in the story, so lets see Higuma... That was the very beginning of Oda's work in this manga, his style developed a lot, and his policy regarding death has been well established since then. Besides, we also didn't see his body, only his boat is shown being broken to pieces, Oda could easily choose to show that Higuma pulled a Jonah and was thrown up (or pooped) whole (or with a few limbs missing) somewhere else and still is alive, adapting Higuma to the policy he established throughout the rest of the manga.
Of course, as I already pointed out he could be setting totally new rules to the NW when death is regarded, but I guess we will have to wait and see...
-
RE: The Monet Problem: An Arlong Park Wager
@Nex:
Like I said, if Monet is alive, but still dies from this wound, the "dead" camp wins. If she dies from something not related to this wound later on, the "Not Dead" camp wins.
This also includes if Doflamingo finds her and goes "yup this wound's gonna kill you, let me kill you first to ease your suffering."
Also, why does everyone think Monet is going to die with a smile on her face? She's a villain, not a good guy. She is an evil demonic harpy who is just as guilty as Caesar for what's been done to the children.
And, as for her dream, it's for Dofla to fulfill his dream, or so I've gathered. But still: villain.You are failing to take into account Oda's history… He has been very consistent with regards to death. Nobody, good or bad, died outside of a flashback (no matter how bad, or how much they deserved it, or even how much it seemed like they would definitely die) unless the death had a lot of meaning (Ace and Whitebeard).
On previous discussions in this forum, about several issues similar to this one, the people who based their opinions on an analysis of how Oda wrote his story so far, usually end up being the right ones. (Reason why Stephen almost always won his discussions and bets. BTW, look in which option he voted in the poll.)
Of course, Oda could be setting new ground rules after the New Romance Dawn, or maybe it is something particular for the New World, allowing "less significant" deaths just to show that this really is the worst of all the oceans, but at this point this is all conjecture and is very unlikely, after all this would be the very first occurrence. So it is very possible that he will save Monet somehow, no matter how unreal that may seem for us right now, for someone who got her heart stabbed.
-
RE: The Monet Problem: An Arlong Park Wager
Using Pell makes sense if she isn't dead, but what if she is dead?
And what if she isn't dead yet, but is dying? What happens to the bet then? Does it count if she actually dies a few chapters from now? (We could still have the dying wish to pass on her dream, and a smile at the end…)
(Though I'm not even participating of the bet... )

RE: Vote your favorite ideas for bonus manga sketches!
All you had to do was go to the original post by Al!naJames (clicking in the at the side of her name in the quote), there the small pics are links to big versions of the pages.

RE: Chapter 694: A Very Dangerous Man
Both dead and not dead, eh? The only way this would be possible is if you meant it in the following context:
Monet isn't a real thing. She's a drawing. In this sense she's not alive ("dead")
In the manga she's alive
Schrödinger's Monet. :D
She is both alive and dead, both realities are superimposed, until one of the realities collapses at the moment when we actually see that she is either alive or dead.
! "Schrödinger's Cat: A cat, a flask of poison and a radioactive source are placed in a sealed box. If an internal monitor detects radioactivity (i.e. a single atom decaying), the flask is shattered, releasing the poison that kills the cat. There is a supposed 50% chance of this happening. The Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics implies that after a while, the cat is simultaneously alive and dead. Yet, when one looks in the box, one sees the cat either alive or dead, not both alive and dead. This poses the question of when exactly superposition ends and reality collapses into one possibility or the other"

Monet is both dead and not dead, at the same time.

RE: One Piece 693 : Die for me
@Foxy:
Anyone who is happy the chapter is being released tomorrow and not today should be thrown on an active volcano.
Why shouldn't people be happy about a chapter that they normally only would get on the Wednesday of the next week, who is being released almost a WEEK earlier than usual?
-
RE: One Piece 693 : Die for me
Spoilers on WEDNESDAY night? The schedule been jacked up.
Actually the schedule is WAY ahead of the expected, since we are in the middle of the break week, and there shouldn't even be a chapter this week…
If we were in the usual schedule we only would get the spoilers and the chapter 694 on the Wednesday of the next week. -
RE: One Piece 693 : Die for me
But I don't think that a "celestial dragon" can't follow an order of his father, even if they think of themselves too highly.
Not to mention that the expression 'government dog' is not a canonic expresion of the manga. I'm not sure about the expression 'celestial dragon'. Do we already know that the sons of the Gorosei are celestial dragons, and what is a celestial dragon? If so, I would like to read the chapters about it.
Tenryubito = Celestial Dragon
-
RE: One Piece 693 : Die for me
If you think that Doflamingo is not, among many other things, a government dog, then you owe an explanation of the last-left panel of this page:
Jabra thinks that he IS a government dog, his point is that he can't see a celestial dragon voluntarily putting themselves in the position of being a government dog, they think too highly of themselves, in their minds everybody else serves them, and they serve nobody… Specially not a celestial dragon who denied his title by becoming a pirate, coming back just to become a government dog, which would be far beneath his original status...

Oh, sorry, haven't read it yet… Thanks. :)

RE: One Piece 693 : Die for me
Any chance that Law swapped Smoker's heart with Monet's, and that Caesar will actually squeeze her heart therefore preventing her from pushing the button? (Which ironically could save him.)
-
RE: One Piece 692 : The killer from Dressrosa
@Foxy:
This has already been discussed to death. We've all come to the conclusion that they are the World Government's failed giantification experiments.
Even so, Oda still hasn't put any explanation about it in the manga, and I think it has to come up some time. I was just wondering how he will do it now that the whole building is filled with gas, which I assume includes the room with the frozen people…
-
RE: One Piece 692 : The killer from Dressrosa
I just remembered that there is still no explanation to the room with the frozen people…

if our beloved T does not do anything illegal, then I really dont understand why ppl get shocked by the comment of a pic of his store. Anyway, i dont want to talk more about it. I respect your work and honestly I appreciate it to much to keep this useless dialogue open. Be happy dear Aohige.
Obviously because it would reveal which store is selling it early, and while it isn't illegal, Shueisha would simply choose to never do business with that store again, and not only would we be harming the income of the owner of the store, but also jeopardizing our ONE sure source of spoilers every week…

RE: Chapter 671: The Gas-Gas Fruit
I don't think Luffy was poisoned. I think CC is just controlling the gas inside Luffy's lungs, and asphyxiating him with it.
-
RE: Chapter 671: The Gas-Gas Fruit
Just posting again my theory from the spoiler thread:
I think CC works for the mysterious man. (Which I think is Joker.)
My guess is that this guy has Law's heart (don't know how he got it, could have a df ability that makes an attack from another df ability be turned against the attacker, for instance), therefore the reason why Law fell to the ground holding his chest. The mysterious man really needs CC, but given his situation Law couldn't kidnap CC himself to exchange him for his heart, he needed someone who wouldn't just be subdued, which brings us to why he needed the Strawhats to do the job.
