@Candide:
Have to admit, that I never watched Lupin. Tried the old Anime once but wasn't amazed to be honest. Some recommendation with what movies to strat if I would? Don't want to browse this thread because of spoilers…
Castle of Cagliostro is always going to be a recommendation, just because it's a great movie. I would also recommend the newest series, Part V. I don't think you need to have seen older stuff, most of Lupin is easy to jump into at any point.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Some of the ones I really liked as far as I can remember. These are mostly sub only ones, it's probably been a decade since I watched most of the AS era ones.
Some of the last few where Miyazaki came back, obviously. It's like it becomes a new show briefly.
The Border is the Face of Farewell
ICPO Secret Detective
Everybody Loves Ramen
The Wolf Looked At an Angel
Lupin Only Lives Twice
The Mona Lisa Smiles Twice
Fervent Love at Versailles
Danger! Goemon
Enjoy The Invader's Game
There's one I liked a lot where it basically ended that the treasure they found was aliens visiting and I can't remember which one it was! Maybe I listed it already.
I find that most of the episodes that focus on Jigen or Goemon are some of the better ones. The ones where Fujiko sells Lupin out for something that would result in a grotesque death for him are the worst. As much as she backstabs him, I don't think she'd really go that far. But they're just dumb plots.
Ones that I found to be really stupid or weird:
Lupin In the Wild West
Lupin V. Superman
Lupin's Gourmet World (That's the eating Lupin's brain episode)
A Cat For You! Dried Bonito Flakes For Me!
The Strategy of the Chewing Gum Disguise
Nineteen Ninety Nine Popcorn Trip (They use a giant popcorn making machine to try to fly to the moon)
Lupin V. The Man of Two Faces (OK I kind of liked this one because it's so weird, but really, Salvador Dali wanting to turn Lupin into a weather vane?)
Steal Everything From Lupin
Operation Chusingura - I have no idea what this episode was about, I get the feeling it was being satirical about something that was happening in Japan at the time that was completely lost on me.
I've also started to wonder what the ratio is of episodes that contain scenes of the villain observing Lupin in a secret room with a lot of 70's style tech and a giant screen while laughing maniacally and pressing buttons.
