By the way, the translations for 297/8 are up on NSN's site. The scans should be coming shortly as well.
Sweet, I re-read 292-296 last night and Musashi's leave with that family still makes me teary eyed.

Have finished watching the last three parts of the Inoue reportage.
I think my respect for the man grew several times.
@Inoue:
I feel a professional is someone who is constantly progressing.
A great watch indeed.
297 scan is out.
Sorry for the double post, but 298 scan is also out now.
Do you have the link to the scans?
299 scan is out…
Well that was strange.

Any hint on how to watch that show? Inoue is one of my favorite mangaka, so I'm very interesting on watching a reportage about/with him.
I found the link in this thread, however I looked through the thread, but seems some posts got deleted. Strange. Probably, Massacre Man Killer got a new ban.
Oh well, a few seconds of YouTube search.

You sir, are a great men. Thank you very much.
Being deaf and mute, Kojiro has some impressive detector skills in return.

This right here is more interesting than anything on tv.
Usually Vagabond has such slow pace, and now….bang! he's a lady! ohgod, rosary! Kojiro you dog...ouch! that hurt.
I dread of what will happen next chapter…..
Chapter 300 is out.
Thanks, I don't keep track of it, if not for this thread.
Nice i'm catching up with this series and i noticed there werent any new chapters coming out.
Sad news, series is now on indefinite hiatus. Inoue posted a new entry on his site titled "Stop."
http://www.itplanning.co.jp/news.html
Translation of article can be found on gottsuiiyan's twitter page.

Inoue says that Vagabond is suspended with no imminent plans to resume - http://www.itplanning.co.jp/news.html (Japanese)
He also said Vagabond won't resume until he gets back the desire to do it, and misses the sense of fun he used to feel in his work.
In essence, he wrote a big apology to Vagabond fans about why he stopped working on it & explained he stopped and won't start again yet.
Oh, yeah, and Inoue said that he finished Real # 10 after stopping Vagabond because it was already so close to completion anyway.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Damn, and just a few days after I catch up on this series…
Now that is what I call an artist.
These are really sad news. A shame Inoue has burned out. I wish him best of luck and inspiration.
well this is the 2nd series I like that's on hiatus with little to no possible return. The first being Shamo (i'm still hoping for the day that this series get's to continue)
Does this mean he wants to focus on Real more? Because that would be just fine.
@JERK:

Perhaps he will finish Real at best, and after that, dunno. He will only get back to drawing Vagabond once he retrieves the fun in doing it.
For some reason he has lost some interest in drawing manga, and only forced himself to finish Real #10, which is close to completion. He doesn't want to draw a half-assed Vagabond so he stops doing it. Unlike Kishimoto.
Don't know about that. Inoue says something about Real as well in the same letter where he announces the Vagabond stop, so, perhaps, when someone translates it, we will have a clearer outlook.
All I know, is that volume 10 is out for a week.
!
The first being Shamo (i'm still hoping for the day that this series get's to continue)
Man, you should give up on this one.
A man's dream never dies. You should know better, Tsukishima.
Man, you should give up on this one.
Hell no, the story will continue one day….one day.
i was just catching up in vagabond, but looks like i should shelf it once again.
as a bigger fan of REAL, i'm hoping he continues that one. at the very least, it seems the easier of the two to draw, and inoue-sensei seems to have a compulsive urge to draw basketball-oriented manga regardless of the circumstances.
I know this is retarded of me to ask but is REAL good? Cause I tried reading slam dunk an it felt forced to me.
^i think it's already been posted.
he was expressing languish at finishing up the latest volume of vagabond, but said he'd still want to do REAL at the current pace of one book a month. no idea if that still stands.
http://www.itplanning.co.jp/ (his site has an english, chinese, and korean ver. for non-japanese readers, by the way)
in the context of that documentary, quitting slam dunk prematurely makes sense. he comes across like kind of an artsy guy who doesn't fit well within the super-strict, assembly line-like japanese manga industry.
@Ao:

One book a year, not month.
One book a year, not month.
wow..well, it's still better than berserk's schedule, right?
also, interesting that the old spear monk guy in vagabond resembles inoue's own grandfather..
Posting in epic thread, so it looks as if Vagabond is done for. Correct?
http://www.gottsu-iiyan.ca/gib/index.php/2010/09/07/takehiko-inoue-aamp-eiichiro-oda-part-4-of-6
in this interview, inoue pretty much says the dark and depressing nature of vagabond is sort of getting him down, coupled with the tough task of writing and drawing it. he says pretty explicitly to oda that he isn't really enjoying making it any longer.
he says real is more of a 'labor of love,' and a lot more fun/easier for him to do, though.
i'm almost caught up with vagabond, and although it's pace is criminally slow, it really amps up with the kojiro story–the art even looks better now that inoue upgraded to brush! still, if inoue only has it in him to finish one series, i'd rather he just focus on Real. maybe he'll get so depressed that he picks back up slam dunk to do a 'fun' manga again?
Now I wonder how it would went if Oda was writing a Seinen…
I haven't been on AP for a little…but Vagabond is on indefinite hiatus? That news is laterally as painful to me as it would be if Oda randomly dropped One Piece. They are my #1 and #2 manga series. A big part of my charismas gifts (from family and friends) was catching up on Vagabond (they got me volumes 5-9). I am reading volume 9 as I write this, literally, it is on my lap. This is incredibly disappointing and I can only hope that he picks it up again one day. Also, why did Sea get banned? surprising.
^looks like it; the indefinite hiatus, i mean.
the news is still very fresh, and inoue has been skirting around stopping the title for something like a year now. maybe he'll change he mind once he takes a short break?
I was putting off reading this series because I read that it was ending soon but this is unfortunate news. I've been reading The book of the five rings and it's made me want to read this series so much more but I don't want to be don't want to start with no end in sight.
Still read it but take your time and maybe you'll get lucky an by the time you catch up inou will have picked up the pencil and start drawing again.

if you have even a vague knowledge of the musashi mythology, this manga's enjoyment almost doubles, seriously. there are so many cool nods and foreshadowing moments used in it, so yeah, maybe give it a try while musashi's bio is fresh in your mind.
because of this manga. I now get all miyamoto musashi refferences made in other manga's and anime's
there;s stuff like kojiro's swallowtail butterflies, ganryuu island, the niten ichi ryu-style, and a ton of other stuff that's you need to be vaguely aware of to fully enjoy vagabond. i think, supposedly, most japanese people are at least vaguely aware of the legend of musashi, his life, style, kojiro, the final duel, and those things, and inoue really uses that to his advantage in the storytelling.
i got really giddy as soon as i saw the name 'ganryuu' or saw kojiro surrounded by the swallowtail butterflies, because i knew what it meant.
This is sad news indeed :(
Isn't it awful that my three favourite mangas outside of One Piece (HxH, Vagabond and Berserk) have such sporadic release schedules?
makes you feel like you'll die before any of those series properly end. (i'm also a fan of those 3 so I know your pain).
Well, I just wanna ask all of you Vagabond fans if the Viz publishing of the volumes of this series is worth buying? 'Coz I really want to read this for a long time but am confused if I should by the volumes (Of course!! if someone wants to read manga, he should buy the volume) or just read it online. I'm a huge fan of SlamDunk's art and got attracted to Vagabond when I read that it came from the same author (Inoue).
Should I spare buying OP volumes for now to buying Vagabond's? I also saw different editions of the volumes. Which one do you recommend?
It is worth every buck you spend on the volume. Art alone will blow your mind.
Now that Rene said it I'll buy the first..
Is the Viz Big edition have any difference aside from the size??
