Fudzilla is one of the worst tech sites in the world and their gpu reporting is terrible, so I wouldn't pay any credence to them.
But sony is definitely hurting right now, they're doing badly in quite a few segments.

Well it's not surprising when they are pumping so much time and money into things like the vita, orbis and cutbacks. This is probably inspired by both the three rivals and the economy at the moment. Sony just like most other companies in the entertainment industry are cutting back and trying to both save money and improve inner workings of the place itself.
In a year or so they will be a leaner but better console provider. It just needs to start turning heads away from the competition and seal itself financially like it did with the ps1. The only thing is they are being rushed into it so fast that I can't see how they won't make some huge mistakes along the way, both with quality, level of tech being used and paying attention to customer feedback in regards to the rumors and ideas they are leaking. We also need more affordable gaming put out to the customers via the psn, as well as trying to limit the actual game prices in the shops.
Add all that on to the fact that the various processors and graphics cards out there are about to hit another generation and you can understand how easy it would be to bring out something that is outgunned and outclassed within the space of six months. All in all Sony have to be extremely careful with what they do otherwise they stand to lose the footing in the gaming sector.

Worse then thought for sony. Basically the same problems nintendo have(uber strong yen) but magnified since sony is not in a great position in a number of markets.

It should have given up the tv war against Sony and lg a long time ago and focused on the few things it can still do and dominate the market on.
And I was right when I said cut backs. 10,000 jobs is a hell of a lot. Hopefully they cut them from the tv section and nothing else that still stands a chance. The chances are we will have a good idea how things will unfold for the next several years when we get some solid info about the ps4/orbis. I think it is the only card they have yet to play.
People have been begging for this one for quite some time.
This better be for the UK too. Else I'll be pretty pissed. (is it worth registering for a US account tho? Hmmm) Always was enticed by this since I saw the advert on the back of the Suikoden 2 manual
Oh. For a second I was excited because I thought it was Panzer Dragoon.
No, its the terrible RPG I hated instead.
On the subject of Legend of Dragoon. There was supposed to be a sequal for it. But Sony decided to be stupid instead.
Hey let's play an awful, clunky Dragon Power Rangers rhythm RPG! I beat that game in high school years ago and I will never play it again.
Speaking of JRPGs. I'm a good way through Tales of Graces and wanting a new one. Any other worth getting (aside from Nier and to a lesser extent Resonance of Fate and Star Ocean) been looking at Rune Factory and importing. Any good or?

I'd avoid Star Ocean and, to a lesser extent, Resonance of Fate. Both suffer from a fun first act that gradually bogs down into repetition. Nier rules, but it's not for everyone.
I don't personally like SRPGs, but Valkyria Chronicles has more of the soul of a JRPG than any other games released on PS3. And if you just like a solid JRPG system with less emphasis on plot and characterization, XIII-2 isn't bad.
Overall, PS3 is a wasteland for good JRPGs.
I really don't understand why people want Legend of Dragoon.
It was such a terrible, terrible game.
It had a character system where some of the character would have a bonus transformation that doubled their speed, attack and defense for several, so you'd be insane to not have them in the party. And while every character eventually got a transformation, some of them weren't till the very end and by then you'd already super leveled the others. Pretty much took teh party considerations out of your hands.
Even the slow super strong character, who I had assumed would not get a transformation because he was already stronger than everyone else… did. And became even more broken.
Aside from that, the combat, story, random battle pop up and traversing of areas were all awful.

Got them alll. XIII-2 is just garbage and shouldn't be recommended at all. Guess I'll track down Rune Factory, been ages since I played a Harvest Moon so

Heh, fair enough. Never had major issues with the battle system and thought the questlines were decent, but might have been a case of crumbs for a starving man.
Tales of Graces F wasn't even that great, but I enjoyed it much more than I should have for that reason.

Also tried Ar Tonelico Qoga during a particularly desperate phase. Was fairly typical in RPG aspects, but the exorbitant amounts of creepy fanservice killed it for me.
Haven't played Rune Factory yet so can't help out there.
I liked Resonance of Fate and Star Ocean, that said it really was because kind of JRPG starved when I played them. They both we're carried by their gameplay for me which retains the japanese weariness that comes with grinding. But I sometimes like that I still get Dragon Quest IX out from time to time just to grind some jobs to 99^+x. So you might want to consider that.
I also recommend Valkyria Chronicles, I held of so long for this game not being sure if I would like the gameplay but it's really an amazingly charming game.
I can't really put my finger on it because each part of that game on its own isn't that amazing but together it was very gripping.
Eternal Sonata might also be a good pick but it's combat system might feel really oudated coming after Tales of Graces.
The story though has this japanese strangeness that makes JRPGs so fun after a good round of western games that are most of the time very grounded.
If those don't speak to you, you might have to wait for ni no kuni?
Yeah the PS3 Jrpg library pales in comparison to the glory that was PS2/PSX.
But it might become better we can look forward to Ni no kuni, Persona 5(which I'm sure we're going to get news on at tgs) and maybe versus XIII if it ever comes out.
PSP might be the to go platform right now for modern JRPGs, especially if you speak Japanese. The DS might be better depending on how you feel about remakes and sprite style games.

Tell me about it, I really liked 1 and 2 which were regarding that much less disturbing and somewhat bearable.
But when I saw some gameplay footage I just had to ask myself why I would play that. I don't think I'm especially prude but its fanservice looked way over the top in a very nonclassy way.

If you do it would be nice if you could drop back to post your impressions on that one :)
On a related note, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO: http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/11/ni-no-kuni-delayed-until-q1-2013/
Really? People think Legend of the Dragoon was awful?
Don't get me wrong, you are completely entitled to whatever opinion the game formed for you, hate it all you want.
I'm just surprised after hearing almost nothing but praise for it that there are those that actively dislike it so much. I'm only on the first disc myself, so I can't really have an informed opinion on it yet, but I've like what I've played so far.

Eh, it was already December 2012, Being January or February isn't further enough to really make a difference. Its a ways off either way.

Maybe if the PS1 was your first games system and it was one of your first RPGs. but it was just… blargh. In every way.

two months?! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I remember my brother playing Legend of Dragoon when I was a kid while I watched, I don't remember much of it honestly beyond being a heavily zoomed out overhead view, random encounters happening super often, and it being fairly difficult.
In my opinion (and I haven't played it in a VERY long time), Legend of Dragoon was crazy overrated. I remember the hype it received back when it was being advertised as a SONY developed RPG in Electronic Gaming Magazine and others, and when I got it I was distinctly underwhelmed compared to most of my friends. As a young kid I felt it was mediocre but I can't imagine what it'd be like going back to play it now. It did some things very well, but there was a lot of stuff that made me go "HUH?"
But maybe my memory is being unkind.
The only things I remember really liking was the battle system and Rose.
Well that's because Rose is the usually the first introduction to the world of dominatrixes (dominatrices?) for preteens. :-P
But seriously. The game is a mixed bag. The plot and soundtrack are AWESOME, and the graphics are pretty spot-on especially for the first Playstation. As for the battle system, it can be a real pain in the butt, especially with the damned Additions. It's JUST okay. It's not something I NEED to replay over and over again, but it's a nice thing for a rainy day if I'm bored.
Oh, and Rob, you CAN get Kongol's Dragoon spirit right after you get him if you know where to look. So he CAN actually get more broken. ;-)
Is the original legends of dragoon difficult to get hold of or something?
For all my cd based consoles, if I want to replay games, I just rip my old discs and then play on an emulator. Don't see the point of paying for a game that I can only use in a certain way when there's a better option available. I get that a lot of people won't have pc's capable of running gamecube or ps2 emulation, but psx & saturn are fairly resource low these days.
Oh, and Rob, you CAN get Kongol's Dragoon spirit right after you get him if you know where to look. So he CAN actually get more broken. ;-)
Yeah. I know. Which was ridiculous. He was already stronger than anyone else in the party without a transformation. I had assumed when I was playing it that would be the tradeoff. You get a superstrong bruiser all the time, but no transforming.
….And then he transformed. And thus never left the party. Add in token healer and main character you couldn't swap, and half the cast not getting transformations until late, and well... your party was pretty much decided for you.
Is the original legends of dragoon difficult to get hold of or something?
As much as any PS1 game is at this point.
But unlike say, Suikoden… its not worth hunting down.
I don't think I ever got through the first disc. I remember being impressed because it had the same number of discs as panzer dragoon saga, and wondering if it was going to be as good.
alas

Why are all the vita games so awful? Most of them titles are made up of old titles, crappy sports or stuff that is just just plain awful.
I know we have some that look promising in the future, but right now I can't see anything now or in the next month worth getting. We need something fun and insane that has had a lot of work done on it, like a revamped version of crash team racing or even another ratchet and clank release.
Initially I thought a few of the games and previews looked promising, but the more and more I researched the less I found myself satisfied with the content. I'm still sitting on the fence in regards to gravity rush though….
Here's the list so far of released and soon to be released games this year.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_Vita_games
It doesn't look like it will be a good year for the vita.
Little King's Story, Persona 4 and Disgaea are all worth getting imo. Final Fantasy X kinda too (I thought this was for the PS3 tho?) Unfortunately three of these are ports.
That's only if you like JRPGs.

FFX has been announced for both PS3 and Vita. Not clear if it's going to be separate releases or cross-compatible, though. But I agree with the initial post, love the Vita though I do, they've really botched the post-launch releases. Pretty sure Gravity Rush was delayed in the US just to have some significant title in the summer.
My hope is that they hammer PSN titles for the Vita. In general, PSN games were the saving grace of the PS3 for the first two years or so.

Welcome to year 1 system launches my friend.
Exactly.
Although the only worry this time is that the horizon seems rather barren as well.
"new "One Sony" strategy will include an increased focus on its mobile electronics and healthcare businesses, along with the integration of the PlayStation Network across the company's consumer product line.
The company will also cut around 10,000 jobs (6% of its global workforce) and examine the possible sale of non-core business units."

At this point in time I don't even care and am unphased by companies doing mass layoffs and business shifts. Everyone is losing money right now, it's sad but true.

Sony has announced "Nasne", a hub that will allow Playstation 3 users to digitally record up to five different TV channels simultaneously with the option of streaming the data to other Sony devices, including the PlayStation Vita.
The hub contains digital terrestrial and satellite television tuners and a 500GB hard disc drive for storing recorded programmes. Nasne is used in conjunction with "Torne", a dedicated PS3 application that supports recording programmes and transferring them to the Vita, Sony tablets and Xperia devices. (The "Torne" application shouldn't be confused with torne peripheral ISDB-T tuner released for the PS3 in 2010.)
By connecting a PS3 online through a LAN connection and then installing Torne, version 4.0 users will be able to watch and record digital terrestrial and satellite TV. For every Nasne device connected to the PS3, up to a maximum of four, you can record an additional channel simultaneously. It can also stream programmes to Vita or a Sony tablet.
The Vita will be able to record and watch digital terrestrial and satellite TV through a "Torne for Vita" program later in 2012. Nasne can convert a downloaded, or downloading, program from the PS3 into an exportable file and then send it to the other Sony devices via Wi-Fi for watching programmes on the move.
Sony already released the TV tuner "Play.TV" for the PS3 in 2008 in the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain and France, which allowed users to watch and record TV to their PS3s. This would represent a big technical improvement.
Nasne launches in Japan on 19th July for 16,890 yen (approximately £133). No planned release in Europe or North America has been announced.

Yes. I don't think I've ever been more interested in a FPS than I am in this game. The possibilities for connectivity between games, genres, and platforms are almost endless if they can pull this off successfully. It is incredibly ambitious, and I really want to see if it works.
This game looks insane!
http://andriasang.com/con0pf/soul_sacrifice_ad_pic/
new vita game….sounds like dark souls.
I doubt it has anything to do with dark souls. At the very least, the style of the pictures looks pretty different to me
I can confirm with 99% confidence that this isn't part of the "souls" games.
Sounds more like yet another monster hunter clone.
Maybe sony haven't been giving capcpom enough bribe money.
GameTrailers TV on Spike will be premiering the "first ever gameplay footage of a PS3 exclusive" Thursday night. The popular speculation is it being God of War: Ascension, but I also think The Last of Us is likely too. Most people seem to have forgotten we haven't seen gameplay footage of that yet and it is supposedly releasing later this year or early 2013. Then again it could be anything really, maybe even a game no one cares about. I can't help but wonder if it is a big title why Sony would do this 6 weeks before E3.
My guess is on that awkward Playstation Battle Royale game.
As in the Smash Brothers-style game, not…you know...
Anyone who bought Persona 3 on PSN like me? Well if you do have it I suggest making multiple save files as I had one save file with 20 hours into it and now when you go to load game it says there are no save files.
Geoff Keighley just tweeted that new exclusive was Superbot's first game, so looks like I was right on that one.
…hooray, I guess.
