Nier is easily one of the best games I've played ever. Easily in my top 5.

Just ordered Shadows of the Damned_,_ Castlevania LoS and Nier.
Should be getting those tommorow.I bought Nier on a whim, because it was so cheap.
Is it worth it?
It's an either you love it or you hate it game to the extreme.
Only thing i can suggest you to enjoy it fully is to try as many sidequests and side events to properly enjoy the game.
-
So it looks like i stumbled upon a gem.
Damn, can't wait! Can anyone go into detail what makes this such an awesome game?

That's kind of the hard part, the reason why it's both so loved and hated is because it blends a lot of different gameplay into the same game.
I have to admit i got a little bored at the second part of the game but the end made up for that (even though i still don't really get the end but there's multiple endings apparently).
-
The plot basically. It's hard to go too in depth with it since its spoilers.
Great Chars. Weiss, Emil and Kaine are some of the better developed chars in a game. Even some of the others like the Junkyard Family, Lighthouse Lady and the Twins. A new game plus also goes in depth with the bosses, showing both sides of things.
Its one of the few games where I did everything on it (literally. That plant cultivating was a pain in the ass) and still wanted more. I went through it about 4 or 5 times already and am already planning another playthrough in the next year.

Damn, Vita's not doing too good.

Ouch. That is pretty meh. Guess we'll see a price drop sooner rather than later.
Now I wonder if we'll get some PS1 games for free from Sony for the early adopters?
Then again. It's not doing horrifically bad. Like the Go. Its shifting similar to the PS3. Which isn't so bad.
-
Well yeah. It doesn't have any games yet. And it doesn't have any huge obvious upgrades over the PSP.
-
Klonoa is out on the PSN. Everyone, go buy this game immidiately.
-
Got Shadow of the Damned today.
It doesn't do anything new. But what it does, it seems to be doing quite well (so far).
And i'm digging the humor in this one.Just beaten the second boss.. and i really need a place to grind some demons. So i can stock up on some booze.
So if anyone knows of a good place, do tell. -
Shadows is on my shortlist of games to buy. I'm not even sure what type of game it is XD For some reason when I look at the box I'm reminded of the likes of Alice, Darksiders and Dante's Inferno. Neither particularly great but fun while they last
-
Shadows of the Damned was probably my favorite game from 2011. It's the great style of Suda51 mixed with very Western based humor, clearly they had some help in that department. As for how it plays, it's Resident Evil 4 on acid. That's all you need to know.
-
got Bioshock 2 today finally.
Cant wait to play this .. i did hear its not a sequel to 1 though -
Dunno if it was mentioned before but Playasia is saying if you order Limited Edition Twisted Metal then you get a code for the PS2 game Twisted Metal Black.
Good for those who are wanting this one I guess.
-
Started Nier.
Wasn't that amazed first, but the game really picks up when you get the grimoire.
The story is really what keeps this game going to so far. The 1300 year timeskip was a huge WTF moment.
Currently i'm back at the main town after doing the first fishing quest. -
Might get Syphon Filter 1-3 tomorrow for free on PS+
is it a FPS series? because i never heard of this series -
Syphon Filter is the stealth game among all of those Tom Clancy titles.
So I'm playing Mass Effect on the PC and enjoying it, and decided to check prices on Mass Effect 2 on the PS3. Turns out ME2 on the PS3 comes out with about 70% of the DLC built-in if you buy it new. And now it costs only $20. I dig it.
-
Ahh, but you dont get to transfer saves that way.
-
True, but the game comes with an interactive comic (created by Dark Horse) that lets you "act out" the events of Mass Effect 1 and choose the results of 6 major decisions (I dunno what they are exactly, though; I'm trying to avoid major spoilers). According to my research, the comic goes over every major event of the first Mass Effect except for the mission on Feros with the Thorian (which I finished just yesterday, actually). Sounds good to me.
Also, the major reasons I want to play ME2 on PS3 instead of on my PC are 1) I prefer to use a controller for most 3rd-person shooters and some 1st-person shooters; 2) I'll make fewer hotkey errors if I can just put them on the L/R 1/2 buttons and scroll between them; and 3) I prefer amassing trophies to amassing Steam achievements.
-
You can use a controller on the PC version to my knowledge. It works better as well since the UI was more designed to playing with a controller than to playing with kb+m like the first one was. I don't really care for the second one, but I loved the original. Not sure if I'm going to pick up the third one or not. Not for $60, I know that much.

But I just got a ps3 a month ago!
And they said they were going to be on a ten-year plan!

It's what I thought too. I got my PS3 recently myself. I hope Gamestop will have a trade-in deal.
-
Well, I suppose announcing isn't the same as premiering, or launching. If they announce the system this year, it still won't be out till 2013, possibly even 2014… and that'll technically be the 7th year of the system being out. And it'll take another 3 or 4 years before the next gen system gets ahead of it and phases out the installed base. (There's STILL PS2 games coming out, but not many at this point.)
Game generations aren't quite as clear cut as they once were, I suppose.
It's just weird because this gen started before people were really done with the last... and started out at a horrendously high price. I wonder if the PS4 will manage to start at less than 600$? Surely they've learned THAT lesson at least.
-
They're going to announce integrated motion control and mandatory 3D and I will change the channel.
Kidding (I hope) but I am interested in seeing it. I will probably skip this generation though.
-
That 10-year lifespan announced by Sony has ALWAYS meant they were going to support the PS3 for at least 10-years, just like the PS2. But pretty much everyone took it as "No PS4 till 2016!" which was quite silly of them.
-
Hardly, ten years was always seen as an oddball statement. They were always going to release their next console around a year after one of the competitors did. They have literally no other choice, they can't let a superior rival machine gain such a big head start.
@RobbyBevard:

The PS3 managed that!
It was FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE US DOLLARS.
-
-
lol gotta love technicalities
-
I always forget it's a state by state thing in the US.
But I have no regrets. Funniest e3 ever
-
I am excited for next gen though, even if not for the consoles themselves. Can't wait to see what they'll be able to pull off.
-
Where can they even go from here in terms of graphics / presentation?
I mean we could never have predicted back then just how amazing games would end up looking, but I think we still had a vague sense at where it could still improve. Improving textures / complexity of models and such, larger memory for more content. Where's the room to improve now?
-
Give it Region Free, Complete backwards compatibility and make it affordable.
And give me the ability to still be able to watch movies and tv shows from my extern HD.
Than they have my interest. Unless there are some drastic changes.I'll probably end up with both a Sony and Nintendo console either way.
-
There's still a long way that consoles have to go in terms of technical performance. Such as ramping up the resolution (most games on the PS3 and 360 run at 720p) and aiming for higher framerates. Aside from that games really need to work on having more realistic post processing so we don't have to deal with ungodly amounts of motion blur or ugly ass color filters any more. Also games should start trying to add in more destruction and more objects that can be affected by physics. So pretty much graphics are at a peak right now and they should be concentrating more on aesthetics and the amount of interactivity in games.
Right now we're kind of stuck in a rut since the majority of games are developed for either the PS3 or 360, both of which contain pretty old technology which stagnates the amount of progress game developers can make. I'm hoping the next generation of consoles will fix this so I can be blown away by a game again :ninja: .
Edit: And while we're at it why not try to expand on the thought of choices in games. This is more of a developer placed restriction than a technological one but I'd like to see more games with story branches with actual choices that affect the game. Some games give the illusion of choice but it doesn't really exist. For example I really like how the choices I made in Mass Effect were brought back up in Mass Effect 2 but that still is more limited than I would like.
Edit 2: Also I'd like the more recent trend towards linearity to go away. I'm not exactly sure how to fix this and still keep the movie-like feel that the devs want in their game but I'm sure there's a way to do it. As much as I liked BF3's story mode it was pretty much running down a hallway left clicking with the occasional quick time event.
And give me the ability to still be able to watch movies and tv shows from my extern HD.
You can do that on the PS3.
-
To be honest I'd much rather have visually unique games like Okami, Rayman origins or El Shaddai. For all its details fancy textures and whatever, the insanely pretty "hyper realistic" games just wind up looking dull, brown and samey to me.
-
That kind of falls into the post processing since that's the main reason most of the "realistic" games end up looking brown. They need to work on the aesthetics and not concentrate on things looking like they're covered in dirt. Bright colors are okay.
-
You can do that on the PS3.
Yes, you can. But sony could easily block the not-so-legal movies/TV shows from my extern HD in a next console.
-
I doubt that they would. I mean you can do it fine on the PS3 and if they wanted to one of the system updates could have stopped you from doing that.
-
Maybe the next gen consoles (except the Wii U) will step into the realm of augmented reality or virtual reality
-

To elaborate on what I meant: I don't think it's worth shilling out hundreds of dollars for a machine that makes it looks slightly less blurry when you move, the colors are a smidgen crisper, and the resolution slightly sharper if it means that the developers are going to spend more time making sure you can count the pores on the characters faces, than creating a memorable visual style or environment. Consoles had enough power to create timeless, beautiful worlds generations ago, which is why I don't see a pressing need to go further. No, all games can't or shouldn't be Wind Waker, but will it really add much to the Call of Duty experience if you're able to see your gun in that bit higher resolution?
Eh, I'm just a rambling old school gamer, I propably have no idea what I'm talking about.
-
The stuff I'm talking about doesn't even really involve the games you're talking about. Most of the stuff that I'm talking about is for the games that are going for the realistic look. I agree that the games that you're talking about are fine and I'm not even really talking about seeing a gun at a higher resolution. I'm more talking about making it so the games don't look brown and washed out and stuff like that. If devs are trying to make a game like the ones you're talking about, that aren't going for graphics then yeah, there's nothing really to add but for the games that are going for the realistic look there's still a lot to work on and most of it has nothing to do with the actual "graphics" of the game.
-
are there any real psn code genrators at all cause the ones i tried didn't let me dowload are i finished the stupid survey? If not hen I'll just have to stop beig such a cheap bastard.
Anyway the vita looks nice but the library is gonna have to build before I pay 200+ dollars for it -
I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but I recently downloaded Pcsx2 to play Kingdom Hearts (since out PS2 stopped working and our PS3 is not backwards compatible) and I just received a USB dual vibration controller with Macro but I can't get it to install on my PC (I have windows 7 64 bit) and the driver I got with it was too outdated. I really can't play the games with my keyboard since its a laptop so I'm wondering if anyone knows where I could get an updated driver or give my detail steps on what to do? (my laptop doesn't even recognize it)
-
I doubt that they would. I mean you can do it fine on the PS3 and if they wanted to one of the system updates could have stopped you from doing that.
They already are blocking some movies with Canavia. I hope this doesn't get worse.
Maybe the next gen consoles (except the Wii U) will step into the realm of augmented reality or virtual reality
I could see something like that happening. I doubt it's only better graphics.
Most likely it will also be aimed more at the casual gamers becaus of the WIIs succes.
I just hope they don't switch completely to motion controls. -
Got ourselves a boring CES going on right now, anyone watching?
-
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/121/1216256p1.html
Alright confirmed that there will be NO PS4 at E3 this year. Not sure if that is a good or a bad thing. But I think it could be good thing.
-
I remember there was a page where you could see how many people have each trophy, anyone know how is called?
-
A rumor's going around that come next week PlayStation Network (PSN) will be renamed to Sony Entertainment Network (PEN). This apparently comes from a random PSN user who was emailed about the change in an official email… but I sure didn't get it and I haven't heard of anything else getting it either. Also none of the big time news sites are posting about it, but that wouldn't change even if it was real cause it's the weekend.

Just got the email myself. It's true I guess
