Hey guys, the Wii price was announced. If you didn't hear about it, the great system is to be 250$. Exactly the price I suspected; and as expected, Nintendo makes it cheap. Go Miyamoto.
Wii Price Announced

-
Wow. Usually, game systems start out real expensive. Then the price decreases after a period of time.
-
I was fearful that the Wii would be around 300 dollars or so, but setting the price at 250 dollars is great.
I wonder if the rumors are true aboot the prices per game are going to be around 50 dollars or so?
-
Nice! I gotta get me one.
-
oh damn. this might just be my very very first gaming system.
-
Actually. It was announced that it will sell for no more then $250.
REDMOND, Wash., May 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ – Following its
overwhelming debut at E3 2006, Nintendo today announced the current fiscal
year unit shipment forecast for its new home game system, Wii(TM). Nintendo
also confirmed that the price of the Wii system, which incorporates unique
freehand control, will not exceed $250 in America, or 25,000 yen in Japan. The
company plans to ship 6 million systems to retailers around the world between
its launch in the fourth quarter of 2006 and the end of its fiscal year on
March 31, 2007.
The projections are part of a full-year financial forecast that sees
growth of 18 percent in sales globally, based on anticipated continuing strong
demand for the Nintendo DS(TM) portable game system, as well as a successful
launch for Wii.
The company also said it expects to sell 17 million Wii games in the
period. Exact launch dates, identification of the launch library of titles and
details on the unique Virtual Console aspect of Wii will be announced soon. -
which in the end amounts to the same thing
-
I love the way that doesn't mention Europe. A bad omen indeed…
But yeah, Nintendo always seem to have the price down.
-
That good I won't have to sell my soul to buy it then.
-
Sweet! Sorry Sony, I've been with you from the very begining but you just screwed up this year. Looks like I'd be owning my first Nintendo system sense the NES.
-
I'm gonna get a PS3 and Wii. The Wii being first. I'll wait for a price drop on the PS3. I can wait. =)

That was what I was gonna do too. But the Sony won't drop the PS3 price until years from now.
-
It's actually become fun to predict the disaster that the PS3 will be. :D
One accessory I wish they'd sell: A DS/GBA cartridge adaptor, like the old Super Game Boy for SNES. There are some games I'd like to play for the DS or GBA, but I don't go for portable gaming.
-
They have the GBA Player for GCN. But how would you play DS games without the touch screen…?
And awesome news about the price.

The answer to you're question could be that they build a one LCD screen with Touch capability that just plugs into the back of the wiimote or as a standalone wireless controller. The reason for one screen wi-fi remote is because you already have a big-ass TV screen to go with it. Thus you can wirelessly have dual picture like the DS on both screens.

Actually, I don't think we'd need any kind of DS-Wii adaptor. They're both Wi-fi capable, so it seems like they could just automatically connect to it.
-
points at the bank account I'm supposed to be filling for crap during college Screw food and water I'm buying me a Wii. 250 dollars is excellent (certainly better then 600 or 450 cough), and I'm pretty sure someone at Nintendo said that games will not exceed 50 dollars. Yay!
-
That's one badass price. Especially around Christmas.
-
Huzzah! Poor Sony, the tiny thorn in their side called Nintendo just started growing again…
So psyched about the Wii...I need my interactive Zelda, and I need it now! Graa!!!

Kinda amazing when you realize the fact that Sony kicked Nintendo ass twice.
-
I want a Wii, but I don't think it'll be all that practical. I've already got 3 gaming systems. I'll probably but either the Wii or the PS3 when I finally get an apartment.
-
@Sandai:

And that'll make it twice for Nintendo, sales-wise. The DS sold more than the PSP, right?
-
Yes, much more. I think.

Well technically handhelds shouldn't count since that's a market that Nintendo is always going to come out on top in.

Still same company though. Anyways with the DS Lite coming out in June 11th, Nintendo is gonna own the Nintendo Handheld market.
-

I heard from someone that it could be around £150, but don't quote me on it just yet.

Same here, though at the moment the PS3's line up doesn't interest me as much as the Wii's.

Am I the only who gets annoyed with Nintendo releasing a version of their
handheld systems then realeasing a better/improved version of said handheld later on. -
no. I am very pissed at nintendo for doing that. Stupid SP. I went and bought one cause the other model was getting a few scratches in the screen, and my little hands fit the SP better. The darn thing needed a stupid adaptor for head phones. original GB had a spot for head phones. They just want you to pay more money for the adaptor, the money freaks.
