General Devil Fruit Discussion

The question is, why would he want to do either of those things anyway? Surrounding himself with lightning as a kind of shield would be useless, because he would be better off just becoming lightning. Same goes for shooting lightning without turning into it. Only use I can see for it is when Enel would want to secretly use his powers without showing the people he has that ability. But he's just not that kind of guy.
-
Iasked a few questions about things i would like to know. So could Enel shoot lightning without transforming himself?
-

You mean creating lightning from thin air? I don't see why he couldn't.
-
Yes–Logia can create, become and control their element. Its in some definition somewhere in an SBS I believe.
-
I don't think it was ever SBS'd, in Impel Down when Crocodile' powers were recapped, it said become and control and everyone who actually read with their eyes can see that logias can create the same substance or material.B
Become, Create, Control is more of a fan term that isn't official, nor is it entirely wrong. -
even though this is a new topic; we're all agree that Caribou's weakness is fire or being dried out.
-
Is a swawp flamible? Never recall an natural swamp being flamible. Also, besides Brook and Croc who weakness isnt being dried out?
-
I think lightening could be his weakness (aka Nami??).
Although personally I would like to see the Monster Trio take down a logia. Well at least Zoro.

I'm just thinking since his Devil fruit is earth themed his weakness would be the opposite of Crocodile's.
As for swamps being flammable

http://hamptonroads.com/2011/08/dismal-swamp-wildfire-grows-4700-acresI always assumed that Usopp's attacks may be able to affect him, I am sure he has some swamp-themed plants that would grow from caribou's body.
-
Isn't swamp like water?
-
@Lazy:
Isn't swamp like water?
In what way, exactly?
-
@Wiki:
A swamp is a wetland with some flooding of large areas of land by shallow bodies of water.
Unless you count the swamp as the land bit (ie mud).
-
@Superbear:

http://hamptonroads.com/2011/08/dismal-swamp-wildfire-grows-4700-acresYour right. If that's the case then either lightning or fire should set him a blaze. Unless, he isn't an typicle swamp.

I'm not sure that Logia users can create their element entirely out of thin air…? As I read it, they basically enlargen and / or dislodge their body parts. They can spawn an infinite amount of their element from their body, but it has to come from their body. That is probably why Oda did not include "create" when he pinned down Crocodile's power, but for all practical purposes it's included. Unless there's some instance in the manga that contradicts this and actually shows a Logia user creating their element completely separate from their body.

Well, there was Ace's Firefly Light attack he used on Blackbeard, but I don't remember if it actually came from thin air or from his body, so I guess your reasoning is correct.
-
Akainu's Meteor Shower? If it was truly out of their body, then his attack would slowly eat away at his body. They can create their element from their body (they can't just create magma 50 meters away); it has to sprout from their body. And whatever they create, they can control.
-
They can create an infinite amount of their element as long as it sprouts from their body.
-

Just adding on here. Every logia has some form of infinity. Most can generate infinite amounts of their element from their bodies (Enel, Kizaru etc) However some unique individuals (Caribou and Marshall D Teach) can have infinite amounts of space within their bodies or element as well as generate infinite amount of that element to increase the range of absorption.
-
Ace's Firefly Light
Quite sure he was sending them out from his hands.
Akainu's Meteor Shower?
We see him standing there and launching them from his hand.

Does this also hold true for paramecias? Can Magellan produce an infinite amount of poison? Can Kalifa produce an unending river of power-cleansing bubbles?
-

Yes Parameica users who produce can produce infinite amounts and control their element. What makes them different is that they can't completely transform into their element. Magellan's poison cloak, candle champion, and the bubble sheep cloak do not count as the user transforming into their element.

I watched a few episodes again and looked in the manga chapters and Enel can teleport, float, surround his body with electricity and shoot lightning without transforming his body or parts of it. But Enel never killed someone actually, but could he kill someone if he wants to?

…..................yes -_-
-
Oda says no.
unless it's Ace… sorry, too soon? -
He could kill a character without a name.
-
So can he kill people or can't he?
-
Why wouldn't he? He can kill people just like anybody else. People just rarely die in OP.
-
I mean with his lightning powers, like frying someone to death.
-
The post above you already answered your question. It doesn't matter how he does it.
-
We never saw him kill someone, but we learned that he'd destroyed is own entire cloud island before going to Skypiea. I believe it was implied that people died in that process. (Have to go out so I can't get a link, maybe later if someone else doesn't ninja me to it.)
-
He is the same troll who always asked about Blackbeard being decapitated. Don't fall for it, please.
-
I'm just asking about the devil fruits, what's your problem you prick?
-
The problem is that you keep asking even after a sufficient answer has been supplied.

Anyone think they'll be a Cyclops Zoan?

Ooooh, I like! But what Would be The benefits? Lack of depth perception being a con. Though I imagine a one eyed warrior could make use of It. Alas! Another Zoro enemy!

I was think that the user would be granted a bunch of different vision powers; heat vision, x-ray vision, infrared vision, and telescopic/microscopic vision.
Edit: additional powers would be super strength, endurance, intelligence of forgery, and slight immunity to heat.
-
He'd also probably be pretty big and strong.

Then just make that a Paramecia fruit that grants those abilities to its user.
-
Can't wait to see a neutrino powered devil fruit user to pawn Kizaru for speed. :P
-
Anybody ever wonder about the origins of the Devil's Fruits? On top of that there was mention of an encyclopedia that classified every type of fruit in the world, including fruits that had not yet been eaten (proof being that Blackbeard had been searching his whole life for a fruit that he knew existed but had not yet, at least to his knowledge, been found or eaten). I think it would be interesting if these fruits were actually developed by Dr. Vegapunk, but then again Devil's Fruits have been around at least as long as Brooke has been alive and I don't believe Dr. Vegapunk has been alive that long. But he's a man of mystery, if he is even a man, so who knows.
-
You're mistaken about the encyclopedia having every Devil Fruit documented considering that Spandam mentioned not being able to find the Ushi Fruit: Model Giraffe and Awa Fruit in it when giving them to Kaku and Califa respectively. For all we know the Yami Fruit had been eaten before, which seems likely considering it was already there. Same thing with Sanji mentioning how he knew about the Suke Fruit or the Rumbar Pirates knowing Brook would come back to life because of having eaten the Yomi Fruit
It's likely Devil Fruits are simply added in the encyclopedia as new ones are found, constantly being updated.
As for things like the origin? We've been told that we'll get answers about stuff like that once Vegapunk is brought into the forefront. Though personally I'm hoping fundamental things like why only one can be eaten or why it doesn't allow a Power User to swim stay a mystery.
-
I'm going with a DF Tree somewhere (probably Raftel).

Aside from the strength, what does any of that have to do with the cyclops in mythology?

Hmm very true about Kaku and Califa. So is this to say that once a fruit is eaten nobody else can have the power for the time the user has it but once that user dies another fruit is, for lack of a better word, "born" having that same ability? You're right though I do like the fact that the fundamentals of the fruits are a mystery. I think not explaining some things often makes a story better than knowing every little thing.
-

Well, Arges was associated with the "brightness", i.e. light of a Lightningbolt, Lightning is electricty, there's the electromagnetic spectrum, some of those lights are in there.
A big stretch, though.

This post is deleted!

Cyclops would often been written working in forges which are hot thus explaining the immunity to heat and forgery knowledge. The visionary were a little something extra I added to level out the disadvantage of having one eye. Having many powers also refers to the part of how Cyclops would make various weapons for the gods in their forge; Zeus's thunderbolts were mentioned in the Wikipedia entry I found as well as Hades' helmet of invisibility.

Poseidon's Trident, too. And depending on the story, Apollo's Bow if Haephestus didn't make it.
