Mmmm…those Penn State jokes were awesome
South Park

-
I may just be ready to crown this my favorite season of South Park. The second half of the season was particularly good.
Glad we got a Kenny death too.
-
Kenny dressing as Mysterion to protect his sister was so sweet.
I actually "awwwww"ed at that scene.
-
"You the have the right to remain silent. Now look into the camera and say, 'I'm white trash and in trouble!'." All in all, this episode was pretty hiliarous. (Typical of Cartman to go all crazy and paranoid when he found out he's the poorest family after Kenny's), and Kenny overall kicked ass when he donned the Mysterion perona to protect his sister.
But damn, the whole agnostic-to-the-extreme theme of the foster family had me rolling. And lol at Kenny dying at the end.
South Park got renewd today up to Season 20.
Sweet.
Really good season finale.
….Shoot, this was the season finale? Aw well.
-
Wait… people enjoyed this episode? I thought it was bad, one of their worst in a long while. And it was the season finale to top it off, really?
Wow... way to go, guys.
-
Beats the hell out of every single south park tackles an issue episode they've ever made that's for sure.

It did seem off to me, but I have to admit I laughed at the agnostic stuff, like, hard. The Dr. Pepper thing being not quite Coke and not quite Pepsi was too much, lol.

You have a lousy sense of humor, deal with it.

Which is pretty much every episode.
-
pretty weak for a season finale. Aside from the Penn State jokes, all of which were hilarious, I didn't laugh much. A bad way to end what has been one of their best seasons in awhile.
-
"You're getting old" made this the best season they've done. Although the rest of the episodes kicked a lot of ass (the Broadway one for example), this would've been the best season for me even if the rest of the episodes were twenty minutes of continuous farting.
So basically, a Terence and Philip show. -
How could you not enjoy Cartman's riffing on the poor orphan song.
-
This episode won my heart the second Mysterion appeared.
I'm a sucker for stuff like that. -
@Thousand:

And I could care less about your opinion of me, deal with that.

@Nia:

I'm a sucker for stuff like that.Seconded so much that a mere 16 characters could never hope to truly express it.

You make it sound like this episode had the worst kind of humor, when in actuality the agnostic jokes were actually pretty top notch. I also liked the "my momma's so poor jokes" from Cartman, and the last Penn State joke from the counselor.
Anyway, I'm curious to know what you thought was so bad about it. Kenny was particularly awesome in this.

So… you liked the horrible Penn State jokes.... but not the decent Agnostic jokes?
Do you watch South Park for "shock humor" then?
-
I loved the agnostic jokes, I thought that was very well executed
-
The agnostic jokes were awesome. The Penn State jokes were pretty bad, but I'm pretty sure that was intentional given the context.

How can you watch South Park and call those jokes shock humor? The only reason they carried a bit more weight with me was probably because I'm a local. I didn't think the agnostic jokes were that good. They weren't unfunny like the yo momma jokes but i wasn't laughing out loud over them. I think besides the Penn State stuff and cartmans impromptu song in which he was the lead and the back up this episode just fell flat for me.
Also I really didn't enjoy seeing mysterion. I liked him when he first appeared, I liked him when he was in the Cthullu thing, but this time his presence seemed extremely pointless. I would've liked it a lot better if it had just been Kenny standing up for her and doing all that stuff. A lot of weird terrible stuff goes on around Kenny without him suiting up and going Batman all over it. Why a foster girl needing help with bullies warranted that I don't understand.

It was light for South Park yes, but shock humor is shock humor. It's just the jokes sucked…. Which I thought was the point....
The only funny one was when the guy broke down when he saw the punishment room.
I don't see how extreme agnostics isn't hilarious. Different strokes.

What would make you feel better when you're crying? Your brother coming in and consoling you, or Superman?
-
My brother. Superman would be cool but he doesn't know me. At most he could make a general statement about the situation I'm in to inspire me but my brother goes through the same stuff I do. He's there everyday. A living example. And he doesn't have superpowers to get by, he does it all on his own. I guess you were going to say you'd rather be consoled by Superman and you might have your reasons for that but from my perspective if Kenny actually wanted to help and encourage the girl he should've done it as Kenny. Just like if Superman wants to show people to stand up for others or give selflessly he should probably do it as Clark Kent and not some invincible, all powerful, can go anywhere, do anything, being who isn't really restrained by the rules of life that affect everyone else on the planet.
All of that doesn't really have to do with my main issue at all which is why don the Mysterion outfit for a little girl but not for all of the other insane ridiculous stuff that goes on around him. I like his previous appearances because they made sense in the episode. This time he seems completely out of place. It would be like Superman showing up on Friends to help Rachel get over a breakup. I don't think he needed to be there so it just seemed like something cool that they threw in for the fans. Which would be alright if it was a strong episode but adding that to the lackluster comedy and any real commentary on an issue the whole episode just felt like they came up with it in two seconds and phoned the entire thing in.
-

Because its his sister.
And because, as Kenny, he's a helpless 10 year old at the mercy of the state in legal matters, he was living there. As Mysterion he's a powerful annonymous vigilante who can do what he needs without reprecussions. If he did the same things as Kenny, he'd just get picked on as well, sent to a different foster home or detention facility, or killed.
Its cause it was personal instead of a world crisis.
-
So he'll show up when it's personal. Or when there's a small local incident. Or when there's a world crisis.
Mysterion didn't do anything that Kenny couldn't do here. He's not stronger. He's never cared about repercussions. He already made friends at the new school. I don't think him being Mysterion added anything to the episode except to say, here's Mysterion. I think if he wanted his sister to feel safer it would've been better done as Kenny except for when they were hosing the kids in the basement. At school and at home his sister probably could've used more Kenny and less Mysterion.
-

I'm saying if a little kid saw their hero stop by just to tell them "to hang in there and that they could make it, I'll always watch over you " they'd be ecstatic. A superhero just told them a they'd protect them.
He didn't just tell her to hang on. He said he'd protect her. And then he did it.
If a superhero told you they'd always watch over you, you'd damn well feel safer (not you literally, since apparently superman having your back doesn't make you feel safe). Kenny is also in the same boat as her, so it wouldn't feel nearly as protecting because he can't escape the exact situation their in, but guess who can?
Also Kenny couldn't fight in school without getting in trouble, but as Mysterion he can. I don't get how this is hard to understand.
All of that doesn't really have to do with my main issue at all which is why don the Mysterion outfit for a little girl but not for all of the other insane ridiculous stuff that goes on around him. This part of your post you went against all logic. She's a LITTLE GIRL. It's not the same as
It would be like Superman showing up on Friends to help Rachel get over a breakup.
Rachel isn't powerless in her situation, it's a breakup and she's an adult. Kenny's sister is a 5 year old taken against her will to a terrible place with "no one to protect her". And most importantly, she's at the age where she believes in such things.

Sooo, if I did read it right, the first episode of Season 16 is going to be about the Bronies?

Sooo, if I did read it right, the first episode of Season 16 is going to be about the Bronies?
Well, the new season starts on the 14th, so, its possible they've started letting out info, but… given that they MAKE the show the week of airing, and don't actually say what they're about until about a day before release... they probably haven't even begun yet.
-
I heard rumors of them tackling My Little Pony before the last season ended, if that happens to be the subject of the first episode, this will already be the very best season.
-
Well, the entire tone of the episode depends on WHO is the fan of it.
I can see Cartman mercilessly mocking someone (Butters) for liking the show, and then turning out to be the biggest Brony of all, and the moral will be "for gods sake, its a little girls how, get over it and grow up." Complete with a couple token fat pimply 30 year old geeks with rooms full of merchandise that get horribly killed before the end.
If its Stan or Kyle who likes the show, they'll spend the entire first act having a secret that they hide from the class before the big reveal, and ultimately make a point about "Yes, its embarassing to like a girl's show, but it can still be good, don't judge a book by its cover, enjoy what you enjoy".
If its Randy, it'll be pure gold.
Regardless of what direction they go, I imagine they attack the extreme fanatics while respecting the calmer fans that like a decent show. All depends on if they actually watch some for reference or not. Cartman and Butters seems the easy way to go, since Butters is the innocent one who can like stuff that everyone else doesn't.
Always a chance of random student A being the target as well.
Hopefully they include a song number. And Derpy.
-
@RobbyBevard:
If its Randy, it'll be pure gold.
Yes. Although I can see the other options working out just as well … Randy makes everything better.
-
Just bounced around on imdb and found the title of the new episode, that's all. Sounds like a pretty cool idea!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2129641/@Rob: Yeah, I hope it's gonna be Randy. Bwahaha!
-
Not sure how reliable IMDB is, but I doubt they have a brony episode in the works. I'll admit, it's possible they have a handful of episode ideas already. Even though they get the show done in a week, they still develop bits of other episodes in that time, so one of those ideas could have been leaked. Still, I haven't found a reliable source of where these rumors could have come from. The fact there were rumors last fall too make me think that it's fake.
And as Robby mentioned, they usually don't announce the episode titles until the Monday before. The only time I can remember the subject of an episode being leaked was when a news story on South Park showed sketches of Wikileaks. Admittedly, that was a recent episode, but this brony idea doesn't have any evidence like that to back up the rumors.
-
It used to be they'd advertise next week's episode as soon as the current episode ended (back when it took longer to do and they had to start sooner I guess) but the last couple years the commercials have just been "Yeah, its South Park. We're sure it'll be South Parkey."
Then 3 or 4 episodes into the season they start using clips from earlier in the season.
-
I called it quits around stuff like headless Britney Spears and the one about internet memes.
-
Sometimes I find it odd when I hear people have dropped South Park or say it's not as fresh as it used to be since the show is much better than when it was starting out. I figure if there was a time to drop the series it would have been season 2. Makes sense since a lot of people thought it was going to die off around that time, including the creators.
I can see where you're coming from though. Quite a few episodes in the past five seasons come off as really stupid and milk one joke for the half-hour. When I rewatch episodes, I pretty much just cherry pick the best ones, but you can say that about almost any series.
I went through a period where I was "meh" about South Park too. Glad I've since picked it up again. This last season may have been my favorite since season 6 and that's not to say there haven't been some really good seasons in between.
-
And now to totally break the pattern of commercials Robby was talking about, here's a clip:
!
I feel like season 6 was the last time they had promos with a variety of clips before the season (though these could all be from the same episode).
-
It's entirely possible they have something done on the first episode, if just to give them a few days of slack. It is odd. as Robby said the commercials for new seasons are usually just something Comedy Central made with soundbits from past episodes. Was the Brony episode debunked?
-
It wasn't debunked, but there really isn't any proof.
Well, they certainly have something done for the first episode now, since it airs this Wednesday. And unless all those clips are from the same episode, they have a bit done for other episodes too.
Just to clarify, with the whole doing an episode in six days, that's not 100% true. More like 95% true. Sometimes during a run they try to have a "bank" episode, something that already has some work done on it. That way, if they need some sort of reprieve or day off in the middle of those seven weeks, they can take it, knowing that there's an episode to air that week that they've at least started on. Each episode has a full week of work put into it, but they don't always confine their week to working on just one episode. Not strictly speaking anyway. Obviously each week has a main episode to be worked, possibly with bits of other episodes on the side.
-
Looks like on the season premire of South Park, its going to be making fun of the TSA stuff.
-
Well, I'd say that was a pretty solid premiere episode. Season 16 is off to a good start.
-
Poor Clyde! His mommy is dead! Why does Betsy sound like a transsexual man anyway? I was pretty sure she sounded like a normal woman in the early episodes.
-
Yeah, I thought that too when I heard her voice. Maybe they were under a deadline and they just used Trey's voice (I think that was his) instead of bringing one of the female voice actresses in? But then that doesn't make sense since there were plenty of female voices in the episode.
My only other guess is that her ridiculous voice was intended to make her death more lighthearted. You know, aside from the fact she died with her ass stuck in a toilet.
-
Not a half bad episode to kick off the new episode. I did not like the drawn out part of the TSA security guy masturbating, though….
But my favorite part had to be when John Harrington showed up and showed everyone
Butters' waythe right way to use a toliet. -

Butters' waythe right way to use a toliet.I thought it was the best part, especially when the TSA guy got to Cartman and Cartman starts kiling the security guard. Another one of me favorite Cartman's evil moments.

By early do you mean "within the last three years" or "within the first 4 seasons"?
The actress that played all the female roles early in the show's run left the show a couple seasons in. (If I'm not toally mistaken, that may have even happened to them twice now.) Which is why some characters like Wendy and Bebe sound fairly different than they used to
-
Clyde's mom had a speaking role in last seasons' Crackbaby episode where she sounded much less manly. This last episode she sounded like Ms. Choksondik, who Trey voiced.
-
Well, they may have given Clyde's mom a man-ish voice to make her death seem less tragic.
Anyway, good start to the season. Can't say I relate to the TSA stuff, but it wast still good.
-
This was a nice episode. Though the funnier scenes came from the consequences of Clyde's mom's death and the black cavity search ladies then whe boys trying to fix the problem.
-
Tonight episode was great. I love the shopping network parodys.
-
Last nights episode was pretty great, but I really didn't get the final act. Shouldn't they have gone after the shopping networks rather than the smelters and cash for gold guys since they were the ones making jacked up prices?
-
This episode depressed me. Old people get scammed a lot.
