I dunno if they would do a whole series again, but it would ROCK if they made a Takamura World Title OVA. And/or a Kamogawa back story OVA.
Hajime no Ippo

It'd be awesome if they animated the boxing scenes like an actual boxing match. Ippo does a pretty good job of already doing so, but I mean completely with just commentary and action. Not really going into the character's heads and thoughts.
Have it as a bonus feature if antyhing…that is if they even make an OVA.

BUMP:
New season is confirmed in the latest issue of Weekly Shonen. Starts January 2009.
Oh…and madhouse is doing it.
-
Wohoo! I can't wait :D
-
That's like the best new anime announcement i heard in a looong time. Can't wait!
-
Oh…and madhouse is doing it.
Madhouse did the last HnI series too. That's no surprise.
But WOOT! for the chance to see Takamura vs. Hawk!!
-
YES! Im finally current, took me since July but i did it..
This is by far the best anime/manga ever, tied with One Piece for me
like yall said i hope the make the Bryan Hawk vs Takamura OVA also i wouldnt mind an Ippo vs Sawamura (sp?) or Aoki's fight when he does the look away
but i wish Ippo would just ask Kumi out already…before Itagaki does (yeah right)
-
yesyesyesyesyesyes!! Wow, and I didn't even have to wait a year after watching the first season! Kind of makes me glad I got into it late, but seriously this is awesome news. This was like one of the few animes that I felt did the manga justice and then some.

I'll drink to that just don't know how'd I feel if used the same animation as 76 and the specials though.
-

Yeah I forgot about that
By the way, forgot to mention it's only 90 episodes. I think…they might have just signed that many to do. They could possibly add more if ratings are good. Not sure.
-
90?! That'd be damn high for an announcement though. They could easily cover 30+ volumes.
-
Yeah it could just cover where they originally supposed to fight and then end it there.

Same here man, I am so hyped for it!

Holy crap! I'm definitely going to watch this, especially if they follow their original format on the "First Season". The original anime series rocked primarily because it used very little filler material and stuck to the manga content like glue. The only thing I expect to not see animated is some of the locker room type humor that didn't make it into the first series.

the reason there were almost no fillers was because there are so much materials to work with.
things like the baseball game and broccoliman gotta make it into the next season.
-

Actually most of the reason is that because the manga was so far ahead of the anime there really wasn't much of a reason for them to use filler.
-
…that's pretty much the same thing. ^_^;;

90? o_O
Mind giving a source for this? I've never seen a Japanese TV network commit to more than 52 at a time…
-
90 is unusual for a second series anime, unless we're talking about all Ippo series combined? Either way, an episode count of that calibur is REALLY daunting for most people, especially if the material is "dry" - I can see how people make the effort for super long shounen like Naruto, Bleach and OP but could we say Ippo is as accessible as those three?

It's hard to say about Ippo, since despite its extrodinarily long manga run, merchandising seems limited to annual videogame releases. I do think that Ippo has enough action do draw in a decent crowd though most likely not near the titles you mentioned.
Yeah, I'm not buying the 90 episodes rumour yet, though I do hope it's as long as the last "season" at about 75 (76?) episodes (which I believe was actually three separate production seasons).
-
Is this gonna be a continuation of the first anime, if so, I might watch it (I saw the ANN thread, and it looks like many people liked it (Median Rating is excellent, w/ an 8.676 average).
Does anyone know some other type of website that reviews anime DVD's (more particularly, for this one, since it doesn't look like ANN have it)
-

The longest example i recall was Monster, supposed to have 74 episodes from day one…but yeah, 90 seems unlikely for Ippo now.
New animes starting in January usually runs for 12-13 episodes only, but that would cover almost nothing relevant.. -

You don't want to use those kinds of ratings as evidence of a series' quality; most of the people who vote in polls like that are people who REALLY like a series, people who REALLY hate a series, or people who REALLY like ANN.
If there was a poll for OP chapters in the Manga forum one wouldn't be seeing a flood of "1/10" ratings - people like that wouldn't last too long on this forum because they would naturally offend almost everyone else here, though there's no penalty for fans.
If you really want a good review, you should ask casual fans in moderately populated subforums like this what they think - you won't get a good answer from a fanboy or a troll.

Also I originally got it from Dynamiteglove's forum. Paraparajmo had heard some things that it was only going to be 90 episodes. Only was reading quickly, so I guess they are just rumors for now.

I don't know where any reviews are, but I can tell you that I like it a lot, and I NEVER watch boxing in real life. Still don't. But I read HnI!
-
that was great how takamura just left city cause of Brocoliman
also they gotta put that thing in there wehn Takamura was all paranoid cause Aoki put that scorpion (idr) in his food and he shitted it out
-
It'll be amazing if they decide to keep that in considering some of the minor stuff they took out of the anime.

So the main voice actors are returning, but there's a new director: Jun Shishido. Hmm..
Any news about the number of episodes? -
Not yet, it may be the 90 episodes rumour.
I think that the 2nd series will end after! Ippo vs. Take and Ippo batonpassing Itagaki.
I hope there will be trailers of the new series =)

Is there going to be a new anime series of this (continuation)? I haven't really been keeping track. That would be great though.

-
First Trailer RKnIsCcRzAg If it doesn't show up
-
Chapter 835 is out on onemanga.
-
Can't believe the new anime is only a matter of days away. I personally cannot wait and by the small trailer it looks like they've done a great job of keeping with the style of the original series. Never expected anything less of Madhouse nowadays though.
-
Madhouse is the one studio you can always count on for good animation. I just wonder where they get all their budget.
Now it would be nice if they would list voice actors for all the new characters. Itagaki first and foremost, but we also need Martinez, Hawk, and others.
crosses fingers for Kamogawa and Nekota's flashback being included
-
whens first episode?
-
1:25 a.m in Wednesday (japan)
So i guess it would be Tuesday for the rest of us after Japan. (i think here in Sweden, torrents would probably come during the day…i hope) -
help me out please. i need a program to get ntv where it will be shown. i tried out 3 programms now and still can't get it.
-
? What exactly are you asking? Are you asking us to hotwire your cable?
Either way, I think you're better off waiting for the torrent.
