if someone had a convincing reason i am sure luffy will understand it. in robin's and nami's case they actually didn't want to leave the sh. they were forced because of their past that hunted them. luffy has the talent to look through peoples facade and grasp their real desires. that's why he asked robin if she wanted to live even though she clearly stated the opposite.

griffith was a selfish person that sacrificed his comrades for the sake of achieving his dream. luffy would never do that.
