TL;DR version:
more exhanges without a hit, more "you're not the only one who's this fast" gloating from saeki, and the round ends.
ippo also gushes "you've grown so much!" -
I don't get why all the spectators seem to love this, I mean, fuck all's happening. I just want someone, anyone, to get hit now.
-
This is the most boring fucking fight.
"gee it's fun to draw hundreds of missed punches and millions of speed lines between two assholes who are basically engaging in circle jerkery as they praise each other while nothing fucking happens"
Ippo's quality is in terminal decline.
-

Huh they are there and they don't have to wait a week to see the match unfold.
I love how this fast match is so slow.
-

I love how this fast match is so slow.Good point, probably would be a blast to watch it if it was in real life. Shame us humans don't have the luxury of being capable of superhuman boxing skills.
-
The spectators can't follow the movements ?
When did we switch to Dragon Ball ?
-
We broke the laws of physics with Kojima and Woli fights already (2t punch & levitating monkey boy), so this was to be expected. All I want now is Miyata's lightning quick counter breaking the sound wall. That would be the last bit of realism we'd ever see in Ippo.
Saeki, please end Itagaki's career here, so we could concentrate on Ippo fighting the world. His fights are slow and tedious, but at least we'd see something new. At this point, it's either that or the end of the manga.
This is unbelievably boring.
-

They need boxing eyes.
-
Hey, I don't know what the author is trying to convey here but I have a feeling that these guys are reeaaalllly fast. Stay tuned.
-
And so, the ballet didn't have enough excitement for more than one chapter.
-
Never have several consecutive chapters about speed seemed so very slow.
-
The arts still excellent. But what's lacking is jerkassery, everytime Ippo gushes over one of his friends there should be a Sawamura, a Sendo, or a jerkass supremo Takamura ready to the take piss out him.
-
Mangastream has the new chapter: http://mangastream.com/read/hajime_no_ippo/54795150/1
I want Itakagi to lose more and more every chapter.
-
lol, I agree. I too want Saeki to beat some humility into that kid. Although it's obvious that Itagaki would win (Mostly likely in less time than Ippo in order to keep his hidden rivalry with Ippo), at least Saeki would give him a serious run for his money, if he isn't doing that already.
Sad that Karasawa's retiring though, but I guess not everyone can cut it in boxing :, and Takamura punching Ippo off of the balcony was hilarious.
-
yeah, Takamura's punch had me rolling.
-
Wonder if this whole annoyance deal is another Sasuke thing, does anyone know if Itagaki and Woli are super popular in japan?
-
A much better improvement from the latest chapters. Who would've thought a break from the fighting (if you can call hitting air fighting) would be cause for the best chapter so far? I admit I didn't even notice Saeki was only fighting with 1 hand. That is crazy! As I thought Saeki is going to get the first hit and please let it come next round/chapter, thank you~
Oh, and thank God for Takamura.
-
Oh, and thank God for Takamura.
lol, amen to that. For me, Takamura is what makes the series worth watching (Apart from some of my other fav characters like Sendo and Mashiba). His fights are great, either really funny or really intense (Like his fight vs Hawk), and he's the best troll ever.
I have a question though, do people also hate Miyata because of the genius thing (Like Itagaki). Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending him or anything, but I can't help but feel that there is more hate for Itagaki than Miyata, although both of them can be smug geniuses (Though Itagaki is more of a douche than Miyata).
-
Miyata never really came of as smug to me.
-
Miyata learned to never underestimate his oponnents since his sparring against Ippo, he wasn't even a douche in the early chapters.
Itagaki and his world of speed stuff is annoying.
-
Hahah, so we did get some classic Takamura jerkassery and it did greatly improve the chapter. I also liked the Saeki flashback. The fights may drag a bit these days, but I find the character interactions still as enjoyable as ever.
-
Takamura makes everything better.
-
What I got from that chapter is Itagki finally had it pounded into his head that he's slower than his opposition. Itagki went out with both hands swinging and Saeki only used one hand. So as of right now.. I believe it isn't who's the fastest in Japan.. it's now who's the better boxer… still doesn't mean anything good will happen though. :P

True, I must've been thinking about early Miyata then, mostly when he fought Ippo and Mashiba, I think it was since Jimmy Sifsa that he really showed that he doesn't underestimate his opponents anymore and manned up big time. Speakinf of Miyata my fav fight with him was the one he had with Randy Boy, it was pretty intense :D
Itagaki and his world of speed stuff is annoying.
lol I agree, the match before this one with Itagaki acting all cocky in front of Karasawa with his speed world thing annoyed me a lot bit. I was sorta glad that Karasawa was able to use Itagaki's reflexes against him though lol.
-
Another thing with Miyata is that he's so full of flaws and is soooo very aware of that that his supposed smugness just takes the form of a mask.

about the chapter…
um... usually when you people claim you're going to land a counter, you get fucked up. i'm betting this will happen for sure. -
The only thing that made this chapter worth reading was that one page of Itagaki's dad.
-
"It might look flashy, but it is actually pretty dull."
Here's hoping for Itagaki getting rocked next chapter.
-
I don't hate Itagaki but, lol, he's about to get messed up next chapter!
"It might look flashy, but it's actually pretty dull."
Perfectly describes the first round. I love it when manga becomes self aware.
-

Yup. The only good thing about Itagaki is his father.
Also NO PUNCHES WERE LANDED IN THIS CHAPTER AGAIN. Love how Aoki and Kimura discuss how boring the fight is.
-
lol, looks like Itagaki is gonna get his face smashed in the next chapter. I seriously doubt that he's gonna land a counter successfully, Saeki's punch looked weird though. I wonder what it is…I doubt being a right thrown with an arc is all there is to it...
-
finally, some damn punches.
-
Now THAT was a good chapter!
-
New Chapter out
Itagaki continues to get punched -
I have no recollection of when Ippo fought Saeki so the constant lefts closing up his right eye and creating a blindspot for him to land heavy blows gave me a lil surprise. Nice tactic and great to see him get his ass kicked.
It still feels this just all setup to for when Itagaki wins with a comeback though. Wonder if it'll be similar to how Ippo won which I'm sure had to do with his heavier blows.
-
Ippo won using Space Invaders tactics, i.e. he hit where Saeki was going to be because Saeki can only go in one direction to utilize the blind spot. Saeki thought that Ippo could see so he was confused trying to figure out why Ippo could land hits before it was too late and he got knocked out by Ippo's "Ah shit! It feels like getting shot!" strength.
-
Hell yes.
The last two chapters are satisfying to no end. I can only hope this fun lasts some more time.
-
This is fight and subsequent beating is definitely just a setup to humble Saeki before he makes his miraculous comeback. Is he going to beat Ippo's time? No. Is he going to come away beaming and thinking he's on top of the world? No. He's going to leave bloodied and bruised, but a victor who learned some kind of lesson which is the way I like to see it.
-
New chapter's out.
And here's the best page of the entire match so far.
-
itagaki has me intrigued with that last page.
i'm curious as to how the animal game will help him. -
I actually quite like Itagaki, so I don't like seing him taking a beating, although his smug face can get annoying sometimes so it's all good. Wonder how this animal name thing's going to work out for him.
-

Well dont worry author likes Itagaki and there is NO WAY that Itagaki would lose here, most likely this tactic gives him upper edge and might even win this, but I guess there will be few comebacks for both of them.

I like Itagaki too. It's not because he or Saeki is fighting that this manga is so boring lately. Ippo, Aokimura, even Takamura's ones have been just as dull. The author seems to have simply run out of good ideas how to write a boxing match after dozens of them and hundreds and hundreds of chapters. As the boxers are teleporting around the ring and throwing supersonic atatatatata punches, the fights resemble boxing less and less as the power levels are going up, and while this one definitely isn't as bad as Ippo-Woli, it's just the same thing over and over again. The pacing's too slow for a weekly read and the twists aren't interesting. Although I'm glad Saeki's not going to fall for the same thing again that Ippo beat him with, I doubt whatever strategy Itagaki's eventually going to come up with (because there's no way he's going to lose) is any better. I just don't care who's going to win anymore and how, I just want it to end in hopes that the next fight will be better (it won't).
/rant The chapters in-between fights are still pretty good and fun though, but it's not like Ippo's suddenly going to turn into a gag manga.
-
I want Saeki to win but I think we all know he won't.
That said here is my prediction for the short term of the series: Itagaki will beat Ippo's KO time and be happy, then he will get the feeling that he is better than Ippo. He'll get pissed he can't challenge him, pull a Miyata and switch gyms. Then since he won class A and is ranked #1 he will challenge Ippo for the title. -

He'll get pissed he can't challenge him, pull a Miyata and switch gyms. Then since he won class A and is ranked #1 he will challenge Ippo for the title.Well, yeah Saeki isn't gonna win (And I'm on of those that wants Saeki to win), and moreover he's gonna lose against Itagaki in less time than he did against Ippo (The author is obviously gonna make this happen so that he can keep on pushing the secret rivalry that Itagaki has with Ippo). I just hope that the manner in which Itagaki pulls off the win is entertaining, and not contrived or BS.
I can see your prediction coming to pass, I mean taking all of these baby steps trying to catch up to Ippo has to amount to something, and a fight for the belt would make the most sense. Though the only thing that makes me sorta doubt what you say coming to pass is the fact that Itagaki admires Ippo, and if I recall correctly he says that he would never want to face Ippo for the belt because of this (Correct me if I'm wrong). Though of course this can change, I mean after his other match Itagaki had on a kind rape face behind Ippo's back when he had on the towel on his head, somewhat showing his obsession with catching up and eventually surpassing Ippo. So I agree that with time, with Itagaki meeting his smaller goals of beating Ippo's opponents in less time, he will eventually become a legit rival to Ippo, and hence challenge for the belt like you say he would.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I also wanna add that after everything that happened in the manga, it seems that Ippo is still nowhere near the monster that Ricardo Martinez is. I haven't really seen that much growth from Ippo from the time when Ricardo humiliated him during their spar. I mean sure Ippo has gotten much tougher, and his punches are stronger, but Ricardo was able to hit Ippo during every frame of the Dempsey Roll with his left with little to no effort. I think that if Ricardo unleashes the monster within that fought Date, he would murder Ippo as he is now.
It's for that reason that I think that this manga still has a long way to go lollll.

http://mangastream.com/read/hajime_no_ippo/51714949/1 Now Itakagi is ripping off famous boxers by accident-_-
-
I wouldn't call that accidental rip off since the shuffle became an incorporated technique in boxing.
One thing that bothers me is the fact that he used "ape" as a reference, "bee" would've been much better.
