Seems like there's going to be another four month wait after Vol. 20 comes out. Simon Says has listings for various titles up until May and there's no Vol. 21. If they cut it down to three months again then they just might.

To the 'oh no, I want merchandice' thing, remember, we already have some. Granted, 3 t-shirts and a stand isn't much but I haven't much merch for most of the other series by FUNimation or ADV. Just wait awhile and i'm sure we'll get something, due the sales of the Box Sets. If you want it so badly, buy more copies of it. THAT's how business works. But really, do we need lots of merch? Granted, the P.O.Ps would be nice and i'd like to buy a Luffy-ish Straw Hat that doesn't have a pretty pink bow around it but if we're gonna get today's 12 year olds liking this, then I believe most people would hate it just like Naruto.

To the 'Popularity Thing', while this may a silly idea, think of a school. At this school, Naruto, Bleach and Inuyasha would be popular kids and One Piece, Detective Conan and um… Kinnikuman would be the unpopular ones (In Japan, this would be the other way around but oh well, the Japanese do really know what a good series really is). The first three would start off great but get worse throughout the years and end up being forgotten after school had ended. Meanwhile, the other three would get good jobs, have fantastic lives and end up being remembered by alot people. Sometimes, a popular person like Death Note gets both but that's because he's cool and kind at the same time. So just wait a couple of years, it prolly will be popular by then.
Also, I would like Viz to hurry up and release One Piece faster. But hey, as long as the 'cool' kids get their 'awesome' series, who needs One Piece? :getlost:

One of that guys messin' with Hanamichi and his friends was originally smoking a cigarette and got it switched with a lolipop. The only reason I noticed was because of the way he kept holding it. So I went to Onemanga and discovered not only was he smoking and but another guy flipped Hanamichi and them off. Now it's been altered into a fist (like all Viz manga) which makes no sense seeing as that's what irritates the guys most. But this is Viz we're talking about and unnecessary edits are there thing, I guess.

It'll be normal in the volume release. The magazine's done stuff like turning Ace's manji into the bone cross in One Piece, given Matsumoto and Yourichi some coverage in Bleach, and it's all been left unedited in the volume releases. Oh yeah, and who could forget the flaming bow-gun edit in Yuyu Hakusho.

Have you missed the point ENTIRLY? The point was that One Piece is a UNPOPULAR series that with time WILL BE. That's what smart 'nerds' in today's world END UP DOING. Stuff like NARUTO are the jocks and chavs (British thing) who are POPULAR when they were younger but not later. It was a comparsion to WHAT happens to people, not WHO they are.
Fine, saying Kinnikuman MAY have been a bad choice. I couldn't think of someone else at the time.

So, Viz seems to have finally ran out of Naruto illustrations to throw on the Jump covers. But instead of equaling things out with all their series, what do they do? Just throw their other cashcow (Bleach) onto the cover and hopefully that'll last them till more Naruto illustrations are out.

I don't think complaining about Bleach in the US is really justified at this point, as it's not moving much faster than One Piece manga-waise at this point, and there's a serious possibility that the dub might end after the Bount Arc is finished.
Anyway, does anyone how many chapters of One Piece are in this issue? I'm kind of hoping they'll do the first Crocodile fight in one go…

I don't mean to sound like an idiot, but I haven't been paying attention to the english manga releases at all. Do you know when the Davy Back Fight arc will be released…or where we are in the English releases?
I skipped watching the DBF in the anime, opting to read it. Like Loveless, which I had to stop watching not halfway through the first episode, it just seemed like something I'd want to READ and not watch. And I'm gonna go for the English release on this one.

Yep, One Piece started getting published in English back in 2003. Now, 2008, we only have 18 volumes.
Do the math.
Volume 19-Volume 34
5 years = 18 volumes
18+18 = 36
So, if things keep going the way they are, you can be roughly enjoying the Arc by Viz in another 5 years. See ya in 2013. -

I went to Barnes and Noble today and to my pleasant surprise they already had a few copies of the hardback Dragon Ball The Complete Illustrations also known as the first Daizenshuu. Oddly near the back it says the date of publication is October 2008.

Its sort of hard to determine whether Toriyama is either an ultra-perfectionist…or just doesn't like his drawings or his worlds as much as he claims. I remember the Oda/Toriyama interview: Oda was like a kid talking about many of the various characters and scenes that inspired him in DB...and Toriyama is like "um...what?"
