Personally, I'm more interested as to how they rendered the name of a certain town in the dialogue box that introduced it, provided that they had the usual three chapters. I haven't recieved my copy yet.

Yeah, that too, but four chapters in a single issue is very rare. I think they've done that… once maybe? Smoker's mentioned indirectly by those pirates who attack Tashigi, but his actual name doesn't come out until the chapter after that. So it won't appear until next month's issue unless Viz changed some of the dialogue around a bit.
On the other hand, they might have mentioned him in the Next Issue preview...

This reminds me of a theroy someone brought up, about the reason it's spelled "Logue". It is because of Prologue and Epilogue. Loguetown is the Town of Beginning and End.
But they DID pronounce it LOW-guh in the anime…

You should get April's issue sometime this week or early next week; it doesn't hit newstands until the first Tuesday of the month. I usually get mine about that time while some people get their's much earlier. I seem to recall once getting an issue almost three weeks early for some reason while on other occasions it's been late.
If it's March's issue, then it's well overdue.
I just got my (American) Monthly SJ yesterday & to my disgust, they completely fudged up Luffy's line to Nami after Arlong's defeat!!!!
It now reads "Nami…..........YOU ARE ONE OF US NOW!!!"

How did they 'shat all over it'? Its a perfectly good translation. Nakama is not some super special word unique to One Piece, if you actually listen you hear it said all the time in Naruto/Bleach/Pocket Monsters/whatever else.
Personally, I would prefer "Nami, you are my comrade!", but I'm still perfectly fine with this translation.

I think "one of us now!" is a fairly decent translation of that line, plus the context of that scene should already tell a reader that Nami is now gonna be part of Luffy's crew, I personally don't find it taking anything or adding any more to the emotion of the scene.
Also, like it was mentioned before, "nakama" is a Japanese word. So would it not make sense to translate the word into an understandable context? As far as I'm concerened, nothing's happened to the English manga significant enough for me to bitch about. (cursing is something more subjective, and it's not like thier calling alcohol "power juice")

Nakama is a common Japanese word spoken in many manga and anime, it's just that this story is friendship theme so Nakama is use the most for this story. I never hear it from other Anime fans but that does not mean that Nakama is a rare word, it's not. Nakama is a common Japanese word Gozer so stop being full of yourself.

The Shopro volumes are being editted. Yes the ORIGINAL Dragonball is getting shafted. Bras have been added to all breasts, and Damns are turning into Curses. And with the DbZ 24 instance they could probably go back and edit all gunplay too, which fucks the Red Ribbon Army up...
So now I think we might see Chaser and his mist breath appear.

@ The Viz DB changes - …. I originally bought the manga because I wanted the uncut version. While I can tolerate some changes, the extent they’re going with DBZ is too far. DB is probably an "end of life" product. They've sold it at the high end market for a while, and now they're picking the last flesh from the corpse by selling a watered-down product which goes to another market the original didn't.
To borrow from technology, the DB product is being recast, like how the mainstream Athlon XP metamorphised into the low-end Sempron shortly before its demise.
Presumably everyone who wanted "DB pure form" already bought or viewed it, but a family safe "brand name" series will sell well in this second life. Little Timmy wants manga (or as some insist on saying, 'anime books'), and he likes Dragonball, so give him an all-ages Dragonball.
That's what I'm hoping the reason is, although I did want to have "uncut" copies of all 42 DB books. Oh well. Nothing I can do about it.
While I would prefer Loguetwon, if they use "Rougetown" and "Smoker", I'll be happy. Changing an L to an R is really a minor thing. Changing a character's name when they (most of the time) don't want to censor something isn't (unless they've started to cut out Sanji's cigarettes).
I checked Chapter 96 on the MSN group. It did have a continuence of the CobyMeppo arc so that was a mistake.

It's also bad to hear about what's happening to Dragonball. The Red Ribbon Army chapters kicked ass and if they ruin those with laser guns then Viz will lose more credidbility.

Does anyone else agree that Luffy is going to be on the back of each volume, even if you don't agree with it? I don't know what was on the backs of the originals, so I can't really tell what was better; BUT I like the Luffy singles. They amuse me so.
I don't mind Luffy being on the back. For number 32 (?) I wouldn't mind seeing a nice shot of Afro Luffy on it.
However I feel number 10 should have something a little more serious on it to show that this part of the storyline is not "fun and games". Same applies to graphic novels that contain more serious aspects of later story arcs.
The DBZ thing is wierd, becuase other than a name changes and swearing take outs One Piece hasn't beeen all that bad, and in some other cases (shaman king, YuYu Hakusho) they've gone out of their way not to edit too deeply, even when the anime did.

It amazes me that they're gonna "break" the major selling point they had: OP (more or less) as Oda intended. They can't claim "first with the new" like the Japanese version can, they can't claim more action and colour. The only thing they have going for them is minimal editing.
