Stupid theory about Kaku

Ok, this is just silly, but I was wondering if anyone here has thought of the same thing. ¿Could Kaku be admiral Akainu?

1. When kaku was introduced, we were told that he speaks as an old person, if he is Akainu he should be quite old right now.
2. He has a weird nose and unnatural looking eyes, kind of artificial, those could perfectly be part of a costume.
3. "Sakazuki", the real name of Akainu reminds me a little of "kaku".
4. They use the same kind of cap, sport cap with the peak folded in a V of the same amplitude.
5. They look alike, (if you paint some new eyebrows to Akainu and put him that square nose).
6. Akainu is a guy obsessed with finishing the work and making sure that the objectives are achieved, so he would be the natural choice for a double insider job like this. (I'm assuming that the CP9 isn't aware of this).

Another thought; vice-admiral Sakazuki is introduced as "future admiral Akainu", but that doesn't mean that he is admiral right now, maybe he will get promoted in the future of the series.

The only counters to this theory are the fact that he has just eaten a DF, but why should this be an inconvenience? With Oda you never know. Also there are other possibilities, maybe they are just related in some way. Or maybe it is just Oda playing with my mind. Now, let the bashing begin…

Most of your arguments aren't very good IMO, but i'll use the two i find least possible:

I think a lot of people will look like kaku if u change their eyebrows and add a square nose.

This is catchy, we don't know if AoKiji, Akainu and the other (Yellow Somethign) are titles given to the Three Admirals or are related to their abilities. Being the first your argument could hold but i honestly don't think that Kaku (or Sakazuki…) will be worthy a promotion (speacially to Admiral) after Luffy&Cia mop the floor with him. Also Oda maybe evil when it comes to playing tricks on the readers but he wouldn't go as far as introducing someone as Future Admiral Akainu and the individual did not became an Admiral when he introduced Kuzan as Future Admiral Aokiji and the later did becomen Admiral...

The statement from Robin was "There are only three men who hold the title of Admiral: Aka Inu, Ao Kiji, Ki Zaru(…)" which means that Aka Inu is Admiral in the present.
Well if Aka Inu(Kaku) would have eaten a second Devil's Fruit, he would have died. But there was no statement which says that Aka Inu has actually eaten one at all, we don't know a lot about him anyway except that he has a pretty evil and absolute sense of justice...
But I seriously doubt that Aka Inu is disguised as Kaku, otherwise he would have immediatly tried to finish off the entire Mugiwara Crew. I also don't think that the whereabouts of Admiral Aka Inu would be unknown for 5 years.

Indeed! Maybe we know him or a relative already or we're going to meet him under strange circumstances without him revealing who he really is or Oda hasn't decided on his appearence yet .

Or maybe he just has a weird face. Every single character that had a cameo had his face hidden: Arlong in the Wanted Poster, Crocodile (while talking to Sanji in Little Garden, for instance), Aokiji (when he took his bike and went after the Strawhats), CP9 (remember they talking to Robin under a bridge?), T-Bone, Wanze and Nero in the sea train, before their fights, and many more that I forgot. Akainu is just one more in a long chain of hidden faces in One Piece.

That said, I think this theory is bull. It would make no sense to reveal that Kaku is an Admiral at this point of the story.

I forgot some things:

7. Usopp has a long nose because he is a liar. Being Kaku a carpenter and having those "painted like" eyes and square nose it is more clear that he is inspired by Pinocchio, so expect him to be a big liar (something like a double insider). Indeed, when his false nose disappears then it will mean that he has stopped lying, just like Pinocchio.

8. This would explain why the gorousei gave this important mission to the idiot of Spamdam without much hesitance (because he was going to be watched by an admiral-class officer). Also it was weird for the government to go capturing nico robin (an important thing to the WG) without support of the military branch.

9. This would also explain why the gorousei gave the ambitious Spamdam the responsibility to find an ancient weapon. The gorousei were looking like idiots to me letting Spamdam operate on this without much supervision, Kaku being Akainu would just put things on their place. And what about Aokiji giving a golden den den mushi to Spamdam? This would open a way for explanations, for example, and I don't really believe this: maybe the golden den den mushi triggers the signal for Akainu to start being himself, or something like that.

After arabasta we got the introduction of Sengoku, Whitebeard, etc. After Skypiea we got a fight with Aokiji. What else for the end of this mega arc that meeting Akainu and knowing that he is pissed and against SH? Not everybody's objectives are interrupted after being beaten by the SH, remember Enel? Maybe Kaku will not be beaten or maybe he will be beaten but he won't surrender.

Remember Tashigi? She got promoted after everybody mopped the floor with her. That said, I don't really think that Akainu is going to get promoted in the real future, it was just something you might want to consider as it opens more possibilities, as I said.

Maybe they are not going to fight him as an admiral, yet. He could restraint, he could be beaten with a bit of luck, he could get away to report headquarters, etc. And… "just yet"?, it is chapter 400, and every 100 chapters the rythm of the novel intensifies, get ready for a lot of mayor antagonists falling at the same time in the next arcs.

I agree, but I don't think this is a cameo. Flashback's are not places for cameos in Oda style, cause they are narratively dense passages in which everything is important and is told at a fast pace. And, come on, same cap, same mouth, same hair color (I think) at the same chapter in the story, in and out of the flashback, being Oda an specialist in doing every male character different. It's just suspicious to say the less. Remember Spamdam in the Franky flashback? Right after the flashback finished, he showed up. So maybe Akainu is gonna be there with us and maybe we won't know until the end of this arc, or maybe before that.

Kaku is a 23 years old guy; so, 20 years ago, he was only 3^^ So it can't be Sakazuki/Akainu exept if Kaku lies in his age(when Kaku talks, he speaks like an old man^^).

5 years is a possible time to go on a mission/war, to the rest of the world he is just on a mission somewhere. Indeed you are not counting the possible training time at CP9 before that, it could be much more years than that. But maybe CP9 predicted the mission to end sooner because they didn't take into account Iceburg's intelligence.

"In the likely event of a stowaway scholar... this sacrifice will be worthless!!!". Now, if Akainu was so determined to finish the job what better thing to do that join CP9 from that momment on to personally "finish the job"?

I already mention replying to Voodzik I think, that he could restraint, be beaten with a bit of luck, leave to report to HQ, etc. Plus he could also reveal himself as Akainu and SH could just scape from him as he did from Aokiji or Smoker. Or he could be beaten anyway, why not, in fact I don't care about that.

BTW I came up with another point:

11. When Kaku dropped Going Merry in 359 it seemed unnecessary and out of place to me. Why bother at all with the ship? If he was Akainu the guy obsessed with finishing the job, it would make sense to me that he took the time to dismantle an unrepairable ship before leaving to EL. BTW if all this is true then Akainu is the opposite to Aokiji in terms of Lazyness which is kind of cool.

Think about it. It's not hard to bind a chest... and, like Kuzan mentioned, the nose is simply a disguise anyway. So being a male at all is just a disguise by the clever Kuina! Why would she disguise herself like that in the first place? Obviously to avoid sexual harassment from Spandam.

Now this is where it gets interesting... See, look at all the theories about Kuina being Tashigi.... it's really quite simple and logical to explain how Kuina is alive and why nobody would mention it... but still, it doesn't make any sense for a warrior like Kuina to lose her skill (as being Tashigi would show.) Instead, she keeps her skill.... when she joins the Marines, she quickly makes her way over to this strange branch, the CP9.... she gets trained in Rokushiki, but still holds onto her swordsmanship as well, which explains the chisels and why Zoro HAS to fight her.

Now, Kaku is... what? 23? 24? That makes sense, too. It's pretty obvious that Kuina is OLDER than Zoro, though by how much is debatable. Four or five years isn't too far-fetched in the least. This only goes to confirm my theory.

Now, look at Kaku... doesn't he resemble an older Kuina? Just think of the nose and the eyes (his only defining features, by the way) as a disguise and you can obviously see the similarities.

Now think of what we know about Kaku's personality.... he's extremely goal-oriented (just like Kuina is!!!) He even goes as far as to destroy the Going Merry... why? Because he (or rather she) is showing that one shouldn't be too attached to memories! Why? Because she lost her own memories from childhood.

I think you'll all agree my theory makes just as much sense as Kuzan's and the theory about Kuina being Tashigi.

What I was talking about, take a bunch of random names, sanji, nami, lucci, luffy, blueno, franky, kaku... Only kaku could work as a abbreviated/familiar way of saying sakazuki, it was never meant to be a great argument, though.

Most (but not all) Japanese kites are flat and rectangular. A kite with corners is called a "kaku". Source

Kaku means corner, stroke etc, but it's also how they call a a square kite. Since Kaku was introduced planning over the city I thought that this could be result of one of Oda's well known ideas associations.

Well, guess what… It turns out that a Sakazuki is another class of japanese traditional kite (Sakazuki originally means cup of wine or something like that): source

It's not unreasonable to speculate that there is a connection between Kaku and Sakazuki, but to speculate that they are one and the same requires that the World Government:

1. Have one of their best assets be unavailable for years despite the worldwide threat of piracy.
2. Have one of the four highest ranked officers in the Navy be under the supervision of someone who wields less authority than an Admiral.
3. Use one of the most famous people in the world as an undercover agent.

Kaku and Sakazuki might be related; heck, Kaku might even be his kid, but it's unlikely that they're one and the same for the reasons I listed above.

I think there is a definite similarity in appearance("WTF? Kaku?" were the first words that went through my head when we saw him), but I think this theory is way too farfetched.

The idea of him being his son or some other relation would be alright, though. I have to think Oda made them look similar for a reason.

You theory says that Kaku is Akainu because Akainu wants to finish the Ohara job by taking Nico Robin. How could Akainu knows that Robin would be in Water 7 five years later? No one could foresee that. That is enough to contradict your theory in my opinion.

Oh, I never said that. You are just contradicting your own suposition ;). Akainu wants to finish the job by getting the blueprints. Nico Robin is out there someplace, so he looks for the blueprints to balance the menace of Nico Robin being alive to revive other dangerous gadgets. If he also finds Nico Robin then it's a plus. That's the possible motivation I was talking about. Though yeah, far-fetched.

Probably it is the revelation of the true history. And who would you put in charge to protect the most important secret? An admiral-class officer makes sense. Also, 20 years have passed, promotions can happen in that time…

13. The most characteristic feature of akainu's face is the prominent chin. And in almost all the panels of Kaku his chin is always hidden by his suit. There's only a couple of panels in which you get to see Kaku's chin but they are unclear (drawn from the top so you wouldn't see it or drawn too close the the mouth so you actually get to see a prominent chin but it is unclear if it is just a deformation).

No. Look at my signature. He is always drawn like that, with the chin hidden, and that's what I find intriguing. As I told you we have seen his chin in a couple of panels but not in a way that I can say "look, the prominence shoud be here and it's not". For example I remember a pic with a little prominence like Sakazuki but his mouth was so open that it could be another thing. I found another panel in the train when the chin is visible and there is no prominence drawn but in that angle (top-to-down) you wouldn't draw it anyway because it was fully illuminated. Anyway, whatever we think of this, 99% of the panels with the chin hidden is enough for me, personally, to be intrigued.

No, damn, but I think it's possible. Do you realize that Luffy has fought an admiral before? And that Zoro fought the best swordsman in the world before? Exceptions happen in the odaverse.

No Akainu & Kaku are both different people, Akainu translates to Red Dog, and he's a supreme admiral- one of the 3 strongest Marine. If he's one of the strongest why is taking orders from Spandam?

Hi everyone, I'm a noob here.

I must say I don't see any physical resemblance between the two. Actually for the moment Akainu seems to have Oda's generic male character's face (Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Smoker, Paulie etc), with the exception of his proeminent chin, and that kind of bitter grin he seems to have when he speaks. So the only thing the two have in common is the cap, but that's not much really when you consider many Marines wear caps. I think if Oda didn't show Akainu's face yet it's probably just because he still hasn't a final design for him.

And as mentioned before, Sakazuki is known as Akainu, which is dog, meanwhile, Kaku is known as the Mountain Monkey? (well i forget but its close to that) so his resemblance is monkey. It'd be kinda strange to connect those two akainu = kaku. But still its not wrong to predict that way.
